I took my RS7 in for its first service! Oil change and alignment were the two main things, which actually come with completely variable costs depending on the vehicle. I also had a feeling I needed new brakes, so I had the thickness of my rotors and pads measured. Find out how much the first service costs, I will be tracking the total ownership costs of this car and sharing it with you guys! This is why I’d only lease an Audi if I had to have one. There is a symphony of technology and engineering going on under the hood which is amazing. Unfortunately, if one thing is off the whole orchestra crashes.
Learned my lesson with an A5. Being young and dumb i took it to the dealership for service. A check engine code had popped up and the dealer quoted me 3500 to replace injectors because 3 of them were leaking. That sounded odd to me so I decided to take it to a local shop that worked on german performance cars. Out of curiosity i looked at the inspection sheet to see what i had paid 200 bucks for. Turns out Audi charges .2 hours of labor for "tire removal". In short they charged me 45 bucks to take off tires. That was when the lightbulb went on. Sold the car and will never look back.

I dont know how long you drive your car or how fast you go with it but only advice i can give is before stopping your engine let it idle a couple minute so your engine can cool down it will prevent alot of damage to your engine or turbo

Hello, what kind of malfunction were you getting due to bad alignment? Also did your airbag light go off too?
When I first got my RS7, the brakes were stupidly loud right during low speed braking. It calmed down quite a bit. My oil light came on quite frequently (roughly every 1500-2000 miles) so I basically started doing what you said: changing it more frequently. So far so good. Getting near the end of warranty, so definitely don't want things to go sideways.

Thanks @arabiantxn but I don’t like a lot of Mercedes exterior modeling, trivial in context I know. If Mercedes made a larger c class, that would be my favorite. It’s proportions and stying to me are pretty spot on but it’s too small for my likes. As per Audi, they have other great options without these superlative needs like what the RS and S series require. May just stick to the single letter options. 😊

@@MrMustangrick I love my GS AWD! Maybe not the fastest or sportiest but reliable as the fires of hell :lol:. Just spark plugs,oil, coolant, etc. Very easy to work on too. Engine and Trans are durable enough for Toyota Trucks, so you know that has to be good. By the time the audi in the vid sees the mileage of my lexus is will probably need 1/4 of its sticker price in repairs. My neighbor kept an newer audi past the warranty, ended up having it towed to a dealer and got 2500 for it in trade. Nice car, but was leaving him stranded, worse than a 25yo beater.

I have a 2015 S7 with 24k miles on it. I knew there was some sort of issue that could come up with the turbos, but I'm glad that you actually explained what the problem is a little more. I'm going to take my S7 in and make sure the oil screen is the updated design, so that I don't have to worry about getting new turbos.

EddieX - 3 quick tips...and a question.
1.) Ordering the same Audi parts/part numbers from Porsche will save you about 1/2, but they're not all available. The A7/S7/RS7 shares many suspension and steering parts with the Macan chassis. I actually recommend FCP Euro over ECS because they're a bit cheaper and they ship MUCH faster with less hassle if you need to return. FCP also stocks Lemforder (which is just genuine Audi overstock). For part numbers, find a 'source' for ETKA. This is a must since you'll want the most recent part revisions and there are tons of variations.
2.) Watch the front bearings. The stock ones are pretty soft metal and a decent midwestern pothole will kill them (from spalling). There's a TSB about premature failure on this chassis and it sounds like a grinding noise that'll get louder every 200 miles or so. SKF makes a direct replacement and I'd consider them the best.
3.) Open an erWin account on erwin.audiusa.com. For $35/day, you can download ALL the repair instructions and TSBs in PDF format with torque values. Brakes are super easy. ...you just need a 21mm socket and a longer breaker bar because the torque values are pretty high. (Just a FYI, you can do most things on this car with a basic metric socket set of 10mm to 21mm and a triple square set. Snap-On's FRDHM21 is also perfect for most of the suspension nuts.)
Question: I just did a full rebuild of my suspension with Koni's Special Active's on my A7 TDI, coming from a BMW 750i with Dynamic Drive and missing BMW's handling and steering feel. How do you like the RS7 handling/steering, especially compared to your last cars? I was considering retrofitting Active Steering, but not sure if it's worth it. My steering feels so so numb and the turn-in feels slow, so I'm trying to mod this.

I personally dont like the "dynamic" or "Active steering" systems, they are weirdly non-linear in some instances. RS7 steering is fine in dynamic mode, given that its a large luxury sedan. My S4 was better, as was the R8. I did not buy this car for handling, so I expected it to be a bit more on the numb side.

Hey Eddie! Love the video. I did a ton of research on the RS7 because I was originally considering getting one but not sure atm. Was just on Audizine checking for you and some people had great luck with going on eBay and getting the RS7 Front rotors and pads new. I just found front rotors and pads for $1,129.92 on eBay which is quite a deal and could really save you some dough especially if you get it put on by a 3rd party. Just a suggestion. Hopefully you find another way not to spend $5k on brakes! That’s just crazy for such a low mileage car if it hasn’t been abused. I guess it really comes down to weight. Nonetheless, look forward to hearing what you’re going to do! Cheers 🥂

Draknight That’s very true! Since my comment, I found out about FCP Euro. They sell OEM parts with a lifetime guarantee! Even if you wear out your pads and rotors, all you have to do is buy another pair and send them back to get a full refund. Pretty sweet!
Draknight honestly, I’m a little worried. I loved the C7/7.5 gen so much and am not as much of a fan of the new A6 or the A7. Hopefully the RS models look better. I’ll also have to do some more research on the Avant. Didn’t know it was coming to the States 👀. Might have to look into getting one if it looks good
At 6mm, brake pads are practically new given that they start at around 8mm and the low limit is about 2. Brakes get noisy if they have been overheated and glazed. The pads are then easy to fix by removing them and runing a fine course sand paper on them a few times to deglaze. The rotors are usually fine, unless they have been blued by heat or turned to mirror glaze. If they have been damaged, they need replacing. But same deal with rotors. A service limit of .4 and being at .8 is practically still mid life.
I have a 2018 A5 cabriolet with 25,000 miles on it. Car rides like a cloud, and only 3 oil changes at $150.00 each at an independent shop that works on Porches and VW. Did have the dreaded thermostat leak and that cost me $400 deductible from my extended coverage. Love this car and so do my two puppies…Grandpa Bill, Austin, Tx

No chit. Guys spend more on maintaining these cars than my car is even worth. I stick to cars under 10 grand. Wise to drive what's paid for. Huge maintenance to drive any car is not for me. A car gets me around. No need for fancy chit.
Stop saying FREE! There is nothing free to have done on that car. The cost is hidden in other fees. Why do you think someone bought it new and then traded it in before problems started popping up? Lease you a new one and drive the piss out of it then turn it in for another new one. Let someone else deal with the used one.
Get vcds and do your own brakes. Never buy autozone brakes for your Audi. Audi typically sources their pads from trw. I've even see some from Hella. Brake jobs are not hard. In most cases, torque spec has been provided to me from the dealer to keep it safe. Have fun

S7 owner here. Check out Power Stop as they make brake pads for the S6/7 front brakes. They may make some for the RS7. Definitely save a lot of money on pads alone. I found them through Rock Auto

Absolutely right about buying vs owning a car like this, the maintenance costs are incredible. The Audi RS models are awesome, but the maintenance to own is far beyond the reach for many potential buyers. Maintenance costs of the RS line is the primary reason why I stay with JDM products
LOL, buy a used car for 75k and every 20k miles you have to dump 5k into it for brakes....it's not like you are racing on a track everyday...it's a daily driver.
I have put Ebay (not kidding) rotors on my s8 and rs5 and have had ZERO issues. I also got ceramic pads from Ebay and they are absolutely more quiet and less dust than OEM. Total for all 4 rotors and all pads, including hardware and sensors, under 400 bucks.
Hey Eddie, did you do a PPI before you bought the car? Did the dealership disclose this to you as you were buying it? Seems kind of shady considering you just bought the car from them as they sold you a car with bare minimum specs brakes. I would’ve negotiated and discounted the brake job from the asking price. I say this because the dealership didn’t tell you about the cracked front diffuser either, right? Also did you get the service records? Seems kind of odd that the original owner would buy the maintenance plan and not use any of it. I mean isn’t that like $1000 extra? Also how do you use your plan up if it’s at 10K mile service intervals and you want to do it at 5K mile intervals? I got my BMW just before they got rid of the free 4 year included maintenance and they would not let you use the oil change credit if it was more than 1000 miles of the scheduled mileage. It was called conditioned based service. So if you drive 5K miles per year you get your oil change in 2 years. Also you mentioned you bought the brake pads from Advance Auto Parts. For the RS 7? And is the Service Department willing to do the service for labor only? Just curious. Sorry for all the questions! Loved the cold start BTW!
Don't you have Audi freeway plan there Eddie? In South Africa all Audi's come standard with a 5 year no cost freeway plan no matter what needs servicing, from brakes to clutches, except tires. But no costs to worry about. Only cost you have in the first five years is tires and fuel.
Some luxury brands have 3 years free maintenance= oil change, pads, top up fluids etc and only done when they say to come in for said service. I believe you have a full list of free services because they car cost 2x than USA. My brethren in Europe and Africa/Asia tells me we get luxury/performance cars for "free" in US😱
When buying an Audi if your budget can’t handle paying 3 times the payment then walk. Trust me even my A6 isn’t cheap to maintain.

Mine e63 amg s has 106k miles on it and, i do think it was relatively cheaper to maintain and none of the parts went bad on it

@@amgnaciri5937 Its the 14 and up facelifted one with the W212 bodystyle and M157 engine s varrient. I got mime with the 120 warranty on it but i haven't the need to use it. The only I will say is a little of road noise. Mine is completely stock except for rentech exhaust and BMC airfilters

@@amgnaciri5937 I think most of 2014 and up W212 sold with the facelift were the S varrients the E63-S models had a higher boost stock heee 12 psi and with increased boost it was 14 pai and they're 4matic within 70back and 30 front split.
Myncar has been rock solid 0 issues. however. Ride quality comfort, handeling andnroad noise are the only 3 areas where it couldn't been better.
Arabiantxn get cls63s, it has better handling and everything else the same. Facelift for cls63 was in 2015, same facelift as e63. Also it looks much nicer.

What was the overall maintain cost on your old s4? I remember you talking about yout s4 maintenance at 20k miles or so. I am curious about the cost difference between the rs7 and s4.
S4 was not expensive to maintain. Just regular 10k Audi care intervals. Maybe $2k total over the 30k miles and 2.5 years including everything
I think I’ve spent 5k total on maintenance in 15 years with my IS300
Ha 10 years for me on my IS250. I don’t think I’ve spent more than 2k on maintenance including new brakes and tires.
If you have you rotors turned (machined) they will not squeal anymore. You can also manually skuff the rotors gently and squeal will stop usually. Hard use on a heavy car like that “glaze” the rotors and if they are super shinny you can try this before spending money unnecessarily.

Have a S6 and getting rid of it after both turbos died at the tail end of an extended warranty. Wouldd have been $10k if the warranty hadn't covered. Buying a Tesla Model 3 performance!

The vehicle should have required the additional alignment. The rear toe angles were adjusted on the alignment spec sheet. When the thrust angle is changed the radars and camera should be adjusted. Your HUD is not failed. Look at the right lower corner of the windshield. If it does not have the Audi logo it's likely not a HUD specific glass. The HUD glass has a concave layer built into the glass that is not easily seen. It could have also bee replaced with an OEM glass but not the right part number. Also keep in mind that Audicare expires one year after the warranty expiration and if you are not the original owner Audi does not like to extend the expiration date.

For alignment - you shouldn't need to calibrate any sensors unless technician turns off vehicle while doing alignment. If car is running - it should calibrate itself.
Tire changes, air filter change, cabin filter changes, spark plugs changed, oil change all for 200$ thanks to my brother.
He works at mercedes, but I still took my 2012 650i to him even though I got "free" maintenance at bmw left on my car (you only pay for material) I probably still would have paid over 1k at bmw

YUP! this man is right. It's not cheap if you're planning on not working on it yourself. b8.5 s4 owner here. Buys 1500 exhaust. Takes it to a shop. Quoted well over 500, just to remove the DP and another 800 to install the exhaust. Fuck that. Rent a lift at the auto garage @ 30/hr. Spent 5 hours on it (so i was charged 150 but was given a 1 hour discount so 120) after install took it to an exhaust shop for fitment cost 40 bucks. Total price spent 160 vs 1300 for exhaust installation. Shoot pop ain't raised no fool.
Yep. Brake pads aren't hard to do. For me with a family and kids its finding the time to do it.

Yep, same with me, I brought a 2017 C63s pre owned, after 5 months the squeaking starting to get really bad, went to Mercedes, yep 3.5k for the rear and 2.2k for the front for rotors, so you are lot alone.

A dying moneypit breed! My Genesis G80 had a chipped windshield , and Safelite changed it out, and fortunately they were trained to recalibrate the adaptive cruise camera , and sensors. My Tesla 3PD coming from a Hellcat is a maintenance free dream lol. I love the RS7 but not the $ for parts and labor, been there ...done that!

What’s the maintenance comparable from regular a7 to the RS7 ?

Big difference. I leased an A7 supercharged. The most I’ve spent on service is brakes. About $800 oil changes about $200 tires can get pricey depending on brand.
RS7 is on the level of AMG and Bentley. Another tax bracket lol!

$5K for new brakes. I will show this to a friend with a Ferrari Scuderia who paid over $14K for brakes. I remember when he showed me the Ferrari service invoice and I soiled my pants on the spot. LOL

I just feel bad knowing this guy is going to have severe depression a few years from now after realizing the thousands and thousands of dollars he wasted on a vehicle.
He made another video cause I guess he decided to sell it. In 1 year he had a $26k expense on bothe essential and non essential like rims tires etc that really wasn't needed. On essential he still spent $13k which includes tge $5k loss on tge sale. But hey if he makes $150k yr with no kids and wife what the fuck does he care. Except getting laid in his overpriced car. The irony of it is I'm thinking of buying the audi s7 🤫🤔🤯
Good to know about the speaking brakes. I just recently purchased an S7. I love it, but unfortunately mine are squeaking as well. Kind of embarrassing being that it's such a nice car.
My A6 has had all maintenance done by the dealership... last one I did myself , I noticed the dealer topped off my oil to max level! Why would they do that?? I did mine a little past half way.

Mr. Miyagi why would it be!?!? In engine bay there is a sign saying something to the effect that over filling engine oil can damage catalytic converter. Seeing as there is no dipstick why would you risk it!?!
@@akfhjfughjgh i do work on bmws with no dipstick, they call for 5.5L/6.5L, that is the oil capacity. When i turn the car on and check the oil level i expect to see it at full capacity, if not i top it off till it is. Is there some benefit to underfilling the engine?

get S7 rear rotors, they're the same diameter. They're $60 a piece.

@@owneddiagonal Its not about "oem brakes", its about rotors that are not made for this particular car and are not meant to fit them, S7 rotors are not made for RS7 cars they have different brake discs, its like fitting an RS6 with the rotors of a 2.0 diesel A6, if they fit on the RS6 it doesn't mean they have the same braking power or that its save to do so. Yes, if you make an accident and while examining the damage and its cause the insurance comes to the conclusion that the accident could have been prevented by stopping in a shorter distance/quicker or if they find out that the braking discs played a role in the accident, they will do anything to put the guilt on you and make you pay for it. In fact i wouldn't be surprised if they literally send the bill to your house and quit your contract with them, due to legal violations.

Hey Eddie, big fan of your channel since you started posting rs7 stuff as i am now also 'saving up' for one lol. I know you like the milltek exhaust but im a huge fan of the akropovic exhaust bc of the low tone growls you get and plus its oem. not a big fan of the milltek bc its too loud and raw, and as a business owner i want to put out a better image and i feel like the akropovic does that for me. Innotech Performance Exhaust (iPE) makes great sounding noises too, definitely worth checking out as they are around $5k (which is half the price of the akropovic)
What year is your car and are you interested in selling it? Looks like the Prestige PKG correct?
It was a 2016 prestige and it was sold early last year

Back in the mid 1980's I had a 5000 and a 4000s Quattro. Great cars when new, under warranty and when everything worked right. Then it became a huge money pit. Parts were hard to find, expensive and no one knew how to fix it. The 5000 also had other issues and became almost worthless. It looks like after over 30 years nothing has changed at Audi and things are still the same. This guy is going to throw money in that car like crazy. Better to pay more, buy new under warranty, enjoy for a few years and then get rid of it. If you cannot afford it buy something else. If you have a home garage, time, tools and knowledge most of the work can be done at home at great savings.

3 days. Car also had an alignment and they were checking the heads up display.

@@user-hs7wg3rv5i age of the vehicle isn't a major determining factor of realignment. Driving conditions, potholes, crapppy roads etc. messes up alignment.
@seamus you obviously don’t know the ins and outs of a dealers service area. More so a high line dealer. Every dealer schedules accordingly if everything runs smoothly. No service area runs smooth first of all, second every car comes in and customers add all sorts of bullshit complaints squeaks rattles to chase down which no techs make money off of, third cars that get additional work upsold on it takes longer than expected, fourth you have all the no appointments that walk in the door and emergency appointments and tow ins. So all that factors in to getting cars done, yes you have an appointment but there’s about 100 other factors the service department has to account for and try helping out everyone to keep everyone happy. As long as you have transportation let them do their thing and make it right don’t rush them.
$5k sounds about right for brakes. My GLC63 was just over that mark all the way around.
Nathan C time to start learning how to do brake jobs at home. It’s not too hard and the tools are not too expensive.

Nathan C yes, sir. I bought rotors and pads for my Audi Q7 from ECS Tuning. Did the job myself and saved a ton of money. Go for it!
You dont need new brake pads if there is a noise but the pad are still tick you just need to spray the brake quiet then go drive very fast and then stop really quick it will surface the brake pad
Hey Eddie: Let me know what you go for rotors and pads on your RS7. Mine are still well within spec @ 45K (me being the second owner).
Also you ever thinking of getting an extended warranty? Looking in to getting that before the warranty runs out myself.

Did you know at the time of purchasing the car that the breaks were wearing? The reason I ask is because I would like to gage about how long would those expensive brakes would last under normal usage..

Shouldn't the dealer from which you bought the car have disclosed the brake/rotor wear? It could have been used for additional negotiation on the sale price.

Transparency and developing trust are key to earning repeat business especially when it comes to selling luxury goods. Making the sale at all costs for the immediate gain is extremely short-sighted in my opinion. I had the PPI done and knew it was getting a bit low. Dealer wouldn't lower price anymore and I wanted to buy the car so I went with it.

It doesnt triple the labour to calibrate sensors lmao. Adjusting the toe to fix your steering will take all of 20 minutes and a quick scan tool calibration will reset the lane keep assist. They're telling you its 3 hours labor for 45 minutes of work lol
