Thank you for your honesty mate. There are not many people on the internet that publish this sort of information when things don´t go as expected. Keep working hard and I am sure that life will give you another chance to enjoy your dream car!
Tbh coming from a BMW 5 series and Q3 owner, these running costs are totally normal. The lesson learned is (even on finance) don’t buy a car that’s equivalent to a year’s salary. Other big lesson learned is that buying from a official dealer will ALWAYS be a lot more expensive than private or even independent dealers. Buying and selling privately would have cost you a lot less.
Don't go through the dealership. OEM parts and independent mechanics cost half the price. Parts are just as good and often come with a better warranty than what Audi provides. I do this with my C7.5 A7.
I spent US$2500 on tires, and US$11,000 in maintenance, in 2 years and pay US$686.00 a month. But the Quattro system saved my life. Twice. So I am keeping it. Worth every penny.
Hi Karl. I know you hated to sell it but it was the best decision for you. Since you weren’t driving it, no reason to spend that kind of money. When my husband passed away 2 years ago, I did not drive but then got my license 7 months later and drive our Jeep but he had a 2003 Ford Mustang convertible which I knew I would never drive. It took me a year to make the final decision to sell it. It was 16 yrs old but only had 13,000 miles on it. Didn’t get as much as I thought but I also didn’t have to pay insurance and City stickers and license plates for it either so i made the right decision. Good luck with rebuilding the car, can’t wait to see it! 🚘
If it's sitting in the garage, it wont lose 12k a year for sure. You've spent a lot cause of the upgrades and the incident. You wont have to change any parts if you're not driving the car. But the value will go down, that's true.
Fell your pain Karl but very good effort trying to hold onto it for as long as you did. Massive loss but a life lesson learned when buying your next future car. All the very best to you and i will try and follow your vieos and give you some likes to help you along. Good man
I've never put that kind of money into my 2014 VW Touareg TDI 3.0 Lux, in maintenance and repairs. Just oil and filter changes every 10k miles, and transmission fluid change at 50k miles. Sounds like you were having too much fun in your A7.... You want to play, you gotta pay! Breaking turbos, putting the car "through the drink" etc, constitutes abuse. Drive it like an old man ( hey, I'm 62 years old and retired) and it will last much, much, much longer. 58K now on my Touareg, paid $26 k US in 2017, and don't really care how little it's worth 4 years later, I'll drive the wheels off of it, it's so comfortable.
What the point of buying performance car, if you ain't using it as god intended?😅 I drive every shitbox as I stole it. Older cars can take abuse. My old VW Passat B4 was unkillable. You couldn't imagine what that car was going true😂
It's crazy how outside the US things like this are so much more expensive. I take it the A7 was a TDi since you mentioned turbo? In the US most of them are the 3.0t supercharged engines. I would say the turbo should have been covered by audi. I would have pushed them on that, they usually cover that cost. Tires are about right, for my 19 inch tires on my A6 I would be paying around $900 USD maybe a little cheaper depending on the shop. Oil change about right as it's usually $60 USD. Insurance got you as well as the payments. If those would have been more cost savings you probably would have kept it. On average in the US for say a 2016 model you're looking at about $25,000 for less then 50k miles. If you have a decent trade in with no negative equity take about 8k off. Right there payments would be about $300/mo at most. Insurance costing around $250/mo. We don't have to declare any modifications though ti Insurance or bank for financing. So they get you there. We also don't have MOT or VAT which saves a little. It's just crazy to see the differences between the two countries. In the end you did what you had to do! Maybe one day you'll get it back. The A7 is a fun car to drive.
It’s actually cheaper as the used car market isn’t as popular. In the US used cars are still worth a lot. Only insurance costs more and fuel here. Maintenance is cheaper here also I would imagine
Exactly my point, everything in US is cheaper while the salaries are higher, people complain about the health care but in reality health care isnt free in EU, if you pay for premium health vare in US you will still come out with a lot more money left over afzer its all said and done. And most americans still complain about prices and how hard their life is while most Europeans live with a 1400$ monthly salary
I don’t know I am on a 2014 Porsche Cayenne, 2013 Audi S8 and I don’t have any problems with those vehicles just regular maintenance I don’t know what people talk about but I am so satisfied with those vehicles and I’m a truck driver!!
You know how to warm up and treat a diesel motor right, being a truck driver. A little mechanical sympathy on a turbo diesel engine when it's still cold and warming up goes a long, long ways. Also, rolling your foot into the throttle slowly, instead of mashing the accelerator saves many a turbocharger, as does a proper cool down before you shut the engine down. 2014 VW Touareg TDI Lux owner here, same experience as you, for 25 years as a VW TDI owner, starting with a 1996 Passat TDI.
UK insurance is such a pain in the backside. My premiums went up because my car was hit while I wasn't present and the other driver took full responsibility but in short they explained to me "you're more likely to use the claims process" just because I told my insurance about it
The other end of the spectrum was the choice I made... I had no car but a change of job made me need one... Now long story short this was a year long job and then I thought id be back to the train. So I bought a car all up for 5.5k in 2019. It's still going strong...nothing has gone wrong. I have had it serviced and changed brake pads and that's it. During it Covid it just sat there rotting and now it's back to the school run and classes. Astra ftw

That’s pretty much how much it costs for our vehicles in warranty, occasionally it needs two new tyres. No Audi, Bmw or even Mercedes is good enough to justify that loss in 2 years no matter how nice it may be to drive or look at. What a waste of money. Stunning vehicle but I couldn't justify that loss.
It’s poor decisions sadly, as mentioned. You could have leased a new one for two years for like 12k, with his milage, probably 10k or under. Even a 7 series costs nowhere near 18k so it’s insane when a used car takes such a big loss
Shame you had to sell it but you paid massively over odds for things like brakes and tyres. Selling the car in lockdown would've reduced the price you got too. A real shame.
Champagne tastes and shandy money. Clearly not in a position to go out and buy a £30,000 car. Why not get an older one if your heart's set on an A7. No one's going to look at the number plate too closely on that sort of car.
lol watched the video and i really think you are not the brightest person. The major loss of your money was depreciation and probably audi brake service

And people are bashing Tesla for 9-15k battery swap at 200-250k miles😅
Thats why i own car only in Forza. Irl i dont need it and cost a lot if you need something better.
Love the video
I love you Karl
How much cost two dogs a month?
300 pounds as a down payment? What kinda sourcery they got going on over there
What if you kept it till today? The price almost doubled.
10:02 what is on your neck?
That's why I drive a 2008!
Are you saying A7 or S7 lol. Sounds more like you are saying S7 despite the title reads A7
Champagne tastes and shandy money. Clearly not in a position to go out and buy a £30,000 car. Why not get an older one if your heart's set on an A7. No one's going to look at the number plate too closely on that sort of car.
12 grand repair bill.. Someone is ripping the piss!!
You have to be able to repair these cars yourself.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
What the hell?? This car is worth much more than 17k
He sold at the wort time ever to be honest , in June 2020. Had he waited another 18 months he would have gotten more than £23k for it .
Check out my A7 on 22's - ua-cam.com/video/eQp9fHd-SwE/v-deo.html
try a 3.0 T and you will change your opinion
also move out of england lmao =)) ridiculous maintenance prices wtf!!
Why is the 3.0T better then the TDI?
gt 530 will do the job better
really?
mate that was such a pain in your soul lol
lol watched the video and i really think you are not the brightest person. The major loss of your money was depreciation and probably audi brake service
Jesus christ 😃 Better off out of it for sure.
Covid 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Good video but having they little doggos running around, causing havoc, was too distracting
You got robbed, man. I wish I could find a fella selling an A7 for 17 grand. In any event, sometimes you have to make painful decisions.
A7s are going for 15k 2014 models
