I LOVE (which is an understatement) your contents on Japan. Being an anime and someone who loves stationery items, your contents are making my trip planning to Japan very convenient and rich! Thank you!
I’ve been to Tokyo several times, and never get to visit all the stores I want to explore. My first time to Tokyo I stayed in Akihabara, which colours some of my favourites. Here are mine, in no particular order are: 1. Yodobashi Akiba for the variety of appliances and the cacophony of displays on the games and toys floor - plus a mind lowing selection of Gacha 2. Don Quijote - at least a quick stroll through every one I pass by. The selection is so different from store to store, it’s a quick temperature-check of the neighbourhood vibe. 3. Ginza Itoya - the sheer variety of writing instruments was mindblowing, with the different floors so thoughtfully curated 4. Loft, for its eclectic mix of interesting and practical. I love perusing the greeting cards and picking up cards I won’t find at home. I picked up a 45l packable “souvenir bag” there, giving me space to pack non-fragile souvenirs and laundry for my flight home, making space in my hard-sided carryon for more precious items. 5. Ameyoko Shopping Street gave me a sense of the less polished side of Tokyo, with the bustle of people, warren of stores along the street, and mix of restaurants to keep my strength up while exploring.
I really enjoyed walking along the shore of Lake Kawaguchiko and looking at the majestic Mount Fuji. It's simply one of the best views I've ever seen. It was there that I also took my favourite photo that I've taken so far: Mount Fuji and its mirrored reflection on the lake, slightly covered by fog. Of course, there are many other wonderful places in Japan. I don't think I'd ever get tired of it!
Can’t wait to go back to tokyo in november. My top places to go is definitely 1. Nakano broadway 2. Ikebukoru(sunshine city mall in particular) and 3. Shimokitazawa for the vibes
For me, it's visiting shrines and temples and collecting omamori for various occasions and reasons. Cool souvenirs that take little to no room when you're one-bagging it
I'll be a first-time traveller to Tokyo and Kyoto this November. Pretty excited, and thanks to you, cannot wait to visit the Traveler's Company Stores! 😀
I'm spending a really brief few days in Tokyo next year and I'm also a TN obsessed Canadian.. love the videos! Thanks for all the helpful tips and shout out from a fellow Ontarian (living overseas).
My fav spot has always been Nakano Broadway, a very nice yet eclectic collection of shops for just about everybody. My second fav spot? Meiji shrine - not for the shrine, though it is pretty. Its walking through the grounds. Everytime I come to tokyo, I head there to reset my zen.
I've spent a lot of time in tokyo and if you appreciate the things in this video, you'll also be rewarded by just walking. Really, pick a spot that is on Maurice's map and walk there. Tokyo is filled with unusual and unexpected beautiful architecture, shops, cafes... it's sometimes unbelievable how much there is. Sometimes I'll go to an area that I've never been only to realize it in itself is full of cool things. You can't miss in Tokyo. When it comes to art, pop culture, etc there is nowhere on the planet that competes.
I made my first trip to Japan last weekend. I'm by no means experienced in shopping there, but Ueno with its selvedge denim stores and other made in Japan shirts, jackets, boots, etc. seems like a highly recommendable shopping destination. As an aside, I'd be very interested in how to find good coffee in Japan. Everything there seems so dark roasted.
I highly recommend Sunshine City mall in Ikebukuro! It's got a Ghibli, Disney, One Piece, Marvel and Crayon Shin-Chan store as well as a Pokémon Center (the one with Miraidon at the front) and the biggest Gachapon store i've ever seen :)
My layover to the US has mostly been in Narita but I have only toured the country once. I would love to go back to Shinjuku since I feel it's the best place to people watch. Hopefully, I'll get to visit again sometime next year.
Nakano broadway is great. If you are in the Kyoto, Osaka region I must recommend Nara. Also maybe Ikebukuro earthquake museum and Tocho building with free observation deck on 45th floor.
One thing for the mall below Tokyo station is that it is pretty easy to get lost. So if you are after something specific I would recommend giving yourself like an hour and a half at least for it
I just came back from Tokyo! Your videos helped a ton. I went to the travelers factory shop it was amazing and now I’m in love with my passport and full size notebooks! I really loved shibuya particularly the Pokémon shop and Nintendo shop. Really fun. The other thing that was awesome was going through the basement floor of The Lofts in Shibuya where they have all their stationary. It was amazing.
I really liked buying anime tshirts from Uniqlo since they were about $9 each. Also when I would go to a destination like Shirakawago for example, I liked getting a magnet and anime key chain. So I could always remember about my time there
Thank you for sharing these beautiful journeys. I am obsessed with Travelers Notebooks and try to collect as much as possible, hoping one day to be able to visit Japan. Thanks Maurice and greetings from Italy
If you're going to Akihabara for anime goods then Radio Kaikan would be my recommendation if you have a few hours. You can take the elevator to the top floor then walk down using the escalator. The building should have most stores for whatever you're looking for. Bonus points it's in 1 building so it's not hard to find your friends
I think it's a bit outrageous for people to be walking around a big city with a $10,000+ designer bag on their arm, you might as well hold up a "please rob me" sign. Secondly, I really don't feel sorry for these brands, they raise their prices at least twice a year, so basically they are driving any potential customers into buying fakes. *hotdups*
i love Cat street! i didn't even realize the name of the street but i had been there before when i was looking for some rare sneakers a year ago... for me though, my favorite place in Tokyo is Fūunji tsukamen in Shinjuku. it's usually my first full meal whenever i arrive, and my last whenever i depart Tokyo. i'm not sure what happened to the original shop owner/chef as he hasn't been there the last few times i visited post Japan lockdowns, but the tsukamen is just as good as i remember every time i go.
Thank you for all the helpful tips. We are heading to Japan in a couple months. And by the way, inspired by one of your videos, I am planning to travel minimally and just using a backpack. 😍
What’s up my brotha! Currently in Japan and your recommendations have been spot on! Also, loved the travelers company store in Tokyo station! Going to cat street tomorrow! Much love!
My first ever trip to Japan was last May for about a week. I tried to pack in too much to do. :) I did manage to go to the TN in Kyoto and at Narita airport and went a little crazy. I am going back at the end of August and I am hoping to check out Tokyo Station and find the TN there as well and now I will add Cat Street as well. I enjoy your channel.
I just came back from 3 weeks in Japan. It's amazing how little you can see in that time frame. I went to harajuku and Shibuya but wasn't able to get to Cat street connecting them both times since everyone else in my party was exhausted due to the humidity and heat. Will prioritize that next trip. I think a ton of your viewers may like a store in Shibuya called "Loft". It's an amazing place for cheap, but quality souvenirs definitely above Don Qui and has an amazing journaling section (including Traveler's Factory goods). Ginza Itoya has the same, but focuses more on art supplies.
For me, it begins and ends at Kappabashi Street. Rather than buying souvenirs, I go toward functional items that can be used daily. I’m uncomfortable spending any amount of money on things like you showed, but won’t hesitate spending US$200+ for another knife.
I have been to Japan many times. Spoiled I guess, but I get tired of the shoping. It is everywhere! That being said, I like Shibuya over Shinjuku. The hills there are nice and the station is easier to navigate. I always have to hit up Tokyu Hands. I find the best mechanical pencils there. I got one this trip that is 1.3mm, and they had one that was 2.0. As a 40+ man I try to steer clear of the Harijuku area but my kids like it, so I find myself there once a trip. There is a cool hat shop there called CA4LA. My wife always finds something she likes. My obsession this trip was the coin dozer games. They are amazing! My favorite Gatcha from this trip was a sumo onigiri wrestler. I found that there were less weird Gatch this trip.
just came back from tokyo yesterday after 6 years of not being able to see family (covid and stuff :/). The timing :') (still picked up a travelers notebook from tokyo station because of your video!)
Lovely collection! I bought my first LV when I was 25 and I only used that bag a few times, haha. Also, love your clutch! I have an Eva clutch in the DE print and love the little chain. But I don’t want to spend so much money on it now, I have been *yutulu* buying the bag I want, it is as good as LV and is one of my favorite things. Durability
Hey guys! I got a question maybe someone of you could help me with…. I am currently in Japan and already visited the Travelers Company shops in Kyoto and Tokio station and collected the first two of four stamps. Now I only need the one in nakameguru and Narita airport. I am curious if I can go to the narita airport shop without having a flight ticket from there ??? Thanks for the help in advance.🫶🏼
OMG!!! A Bad girl in our class said she likes my new bag .she unexpectedly ask me for a link to it .i am so happy .today is a beautiful day .thank you for listening to me!!! *hotdups*

Collecting goshuin at temples and shrines, was my favourite souvenir
But every time my bags look very nice *hotdups*

i am also back in november and i can recommend shimo!
yeah shimokitazawa is cool
Haha I’m going back in November as well!
Im going to Japan/Tokyo for the first time in November too😅
Thx for the recommendations!
Love that you included Google Maps links to all these cool places. ❤ Great video! Thanks for sharing, Maurice!
I like the blogger’s dressing style, it suits my taste, and of course the video style is also very comfortable *hotdups*
For me, it's visiting shrines and temples and collecting omamori for various occasions and reasons. Cool souvenirs that take little to no room when you're one-bagging it
I'm in my current final day of my solo 22 day trip to Japan. Used a lot of ur EDC/backpacking advice when compiling my onebag. Appreciate ur channel

The variety of textures in the *yutulu* pack is impressive. From smooth leather to textured suede, there's something for everyone.

Great video! Will definitely hit some of these up.
Loves my only trip to japan and dying to go back. As an old school gundam fan, loved Diver City Tokyo Plaza to see the massive lifesize gundam!
B-side Label is a very cool sticker and button store dedicated to original art. Lovely and unique.
It's been almost 15 years but I remember Ikebukuro pretty fondly~
Stumbled upon cat street by accident and it was so cool
I cannot wait to go to Japan this fall. Your tips have been so useful, thank you!
Thanks for the detailed review of shopping in tokyo. It's amazing!
I am so incredibly happy that I found your channel. Its full of so much good stuff!

Kiddy land is always a must stop for me
How cool! I’ve been to Tokyo many times, but didn’t know about many of these. Heading there in another 6 weeks, looking forward to checking some out!

Can’t wait to visit Japan again some day!! Shimokitazawa was one of my fave areas for shopping, food, and great coffee!
Great information, I have a trip to Japan in October and this list will come in handy.

That is so amazing . Thank you so much for sharing!!
Your Japan vids are awesome... can you do one for places you love to eat or must visits?
i love Cat street! i didn't even realize the name of the street but i had been there before when i was looking for some rare sneakers a year ago...
for me though, my favorite place in Tokyo is Fūunji tsukamen in Shinjuku. it's usually my first full meal whenever i arrive, and my last whenever i depart Tokyo. i'm not sure what happened to the original shop owner/chef as he hasn't been there the last few times i visited post Japan lockdowns, but the tsukamen is just as good as i remember every time i go.

Awesome stuff to know. Thank you.

We don’t have Muji in my country, so I always go to the flagship store in Ginza every time I’m in Tokyo.
just came back from tokyo yesterday after 6 years of not being able to see family (covid and stuff :/). The timing :')
(still picked up a travelers notebook from tokyo station because of your video!)
Wheres a good place to stay if youre going to game, shop, eat and drink?
And any recommendations for trusted watch sellers?
It took me 25 minutes to find the Tokyo Station Traveler’s Factory store but it was worth it.
I loved Daikanyama but it’s a bit out of the way. Got some UES and Blue Blue Japan jeans there. Also a great camera shop and bookstore
Maurice, may I ask what the brand is of that slingbag you’re wearing? Thanks :)
Out of your 5 spots, THREE of them are my favorites to go in Tokyo for shopping. Nakano Broadway(#1, no contest), Tokyo Station Mall, and Cat Street!
Don Quijote!
The Travelers store would be a must stop for me…and would probably require extra luggage to get the I lost my mind purchases home.
I knew what your number 1 would be. It would be mine too
Where can I find bonsai pots in Tokyo.
I'm so sad! I'm flying in Tokyo. I have been celebrating all day and now that I have the time I'm checking your info... Hanara😢
It isn’t fancy and it’s a chain but…Pepper Lunch has my heart (and my stomach)
Hi, do they have watch repair?
Akihabara during my gundam days.:)
Can we import these mini toys to India ??
I swear if they didn't have such am intense work culture and if it was easier to smoke weed in Japan I'd move there in a heartbeat
You should've said best shopping places for someone that likes miniature cars. This video was disappointing
Lovely collection! I bought my first LV when I was 25 and I only used that bag a few times, haha. Also, love your clutch! I have an Eva clutch in the DE print and love the little chain.
