Thank you for this! As a EMT I'm always looking for ways to improve my patient care. I fully believe every First Responder can and should always find something about their patient care to improve 💜
I took screen shots and made an album on my phone. Worked an MVA last night, had initial patient care. EMS asked me to come into the ambulance to help translate I used my screen shots to get all the questions we needed answered. Thank you FF III/AEMT
Im Mexican myself but having been born and living in the US I don’t get a lot of practice and if I do it’s certainly not in specialized vocabulary. I’m an EMT student right now and while I can understand almost perfectly, I’d like to be able to better convey to my patients what I’m doing and why. Thank you for this!
Fabulous lesson....thank you so much. Dr. Eagleman Have you considered making a video such as “ at the bank....opening and account, type, ATM procedures etc ? “
Thank you for this video. I'm currently learning to speak fluently. I want to bridge the gap between me and my Spanish patients so I can take better care of them.
This is an important lesson that first responders will appreciate. Here is a suggestion for a follow up video. Make a more basic video, make it alot shorter and easier. Imagine a video no longer than 7 minutes with bare essentials. Use simple sentences with only a few words. Something like "does it hurt here?" and then point to the body parts . Teach sentences that use as many words that sound like English words as possible because these will be easy for paramedics to remember. A short video that paramedics can watch over and over should have a very short preface or none at all. Great job, and great choice of topic. Keep up the good work!
I totally see what you're saying. This particular video is a special episode for special people. Some of them are not out to learn Spanish, they just want to be able to use these phrases. If they don't study Spanish, they don't know how to pronounce phrases and they haven't learned about phonetics or pronunciation in Spanish. For that reason, this video required more set up at the beginning. I didn't want it to be that long but it was a necessary part.
Years ago I would say "dolor aqui" and point all over. Over the past year I have studied spanish at my own pace with an intent to become fluent someday in the future and this was a great help to my day to day job as a paramedic.
i learned at my own pace, too- i've lived in san diego county for 40 years and i can talk with hispanic people just fine. if i were to relocate myself in another country- i would learn the language first- es solo sentido comun.
This is awesome Danny!! Thank you so much for doing this video. It has everything I need to do a Spanish assessment as a paramedic Firefighter. I do want to learn Spanish but this will allow me to be able to communicate while my Spanish gets better!!
Can you please make a video for dental professionals? Because I have a hard time communicating. I’m located in a predominately Hispanic community. Need help. Explaining what we’re gonna do , things you need to get done , cost , things to do when they go home and how to take care of their teeth better.
Hi, Danny. This is anotherawesome lesson. Thank you so much. Would you mind to make another lesson for names of body part ( just exterior is fine) thanks again. May God bless you and your family
As a pharmacist may I say this is a truly relevant video. A part 2 would be a splendid idea, hope to see it. Many thanks sir and big shoutout to the First responders and all the healthcare workers.
none of this would be necessary if thousands of people didn't sneak over our mexican border. i'm retired and grow cannabis for several dispensaries in san diego county- does that make me a legally-sponsored drug lord??@@fyodorberkovich8247
Out of all the videos, this is the best! Thank you! I'm learning spanish for my customers. 6:40 My name is (Me llamo or mi nombres es) 7:15 I am here to help you (Estoy aqui para audarle). 7:35 What is your name? Como se llama? 7:50 What is your date of birth? Cual es su fecha de naciemiento? 8:30 How old are you ? Cuantos anos tiene? 8:55 Please only answer yes or no or point. Por favor responda si o no o senale. 9:40 I don't know Spanish very well. No hablo espanol muy bien. 10:30 what year is it? Que anos es? 10:40 Who is the president? Quien es el presidente? 10:45 What is your address? Cual es su direccion? 11:05 What is today's date?
In the sentence "Conseguiremos a alguien que hable español lo antes posible" , Is the verb conseguir in imperative as in "Lets get someone..." Also in place of "tiene dolor de cabeza" can we use "le duele la cabeza" ?
Spaniard here. (1) No, the imperative would be "consigamos". (2) Yes, you can use that. But strictly "dolor de cabeza" would be "headache" and "le duele la cabeza" is more like "pain in the head" and it could be aplied to, say, a wound or concussion on the head.
it also can mean 'sure', 'safe', 'confident', 'assured', 'SECURE', 'positive', 'reliable', 'firm', and probably other English words, as well. why make this more complicated than it needs to be? there is no correction needed.
How to tell first responders to piss off in Spanish (sorry about English keyboard amigos): "I don't want to talk to you" *Yo no quiero hablar contigo* "Would you like to settle this dispute like real men?" *Quieres pelearse como hombres?" "What kind of drugs are you thinking about giving me?" *A que drogas tienes para mi?* "Hey, you're not my drug dealer" *Ayayay, tu no eres mi vendador de drogas!*
Muy util. Feliz día del padre. Recibí un bonito libro de mi nieta, ella tiene 12 años y está aprendiendo español en la escuela. Es un diario llamado 'Querido Abuelo', 'entre tú y yo' - Cuéntame la historia de tu vida. Hay una pregunta en cada página y escribo una respuesta. Cuando el libro se complete se lo devuélveme para traducir mis respuestas al inglés. Almost all of these phrases would be spoken by the first responders. I assume they would all be required to speak English fluently so there is no need for English speaking people to understand Spanish.
Another great video, very informative, perfect instruction for all first responders, strong work!!!
Thanks again!
how many first responders in Mexico know conversational English? it works both ways.
Thank you for this! As a EMT I'm always looking for ways to improve my patient care. I fully believe every First Responder can and should always find something about their patient care to improve 💜

hi im confused withthe questions in the 15:00 mark. wouldnt we use tienes versus tiene?
Esta seguro means you are sure and not you are safe. This needs to be corrected in lesson 75.
it also can mean 'sure', 'safe', 'confident', 'assured', 'SECURE', 'positive', 'reliable', 'firm', and probably other English words, as well. why make this more complicated than it needs to be? there is no correction needed.
I thought if second person with S .not tienes fiebre?? Please clarify
Yes, but he's using the "usted" form, a polite way of saying "tú". So "¿Tiene fiebre?" is a respectful way of saying "Do you have a fever?"
