I installed a alumawood pergola and per building code and engineering diagrams I had to have a 27deep X 27wide concrete footing that the steel posts went 18" into.
Can shade be drill or installed into alumawood?
How much was that give or take I'm thinking of doing something similar

HI, did you get a permit for this. I am in California. The clean round foundation looks great but is it permitted?
No I didn't. The city was charging way too much. It is a risk on my part when I sell.

I thought as long as the patio cover is not connected to the house you do not need a permit,

What state are you in? I used a local company that buys and installs.
