Hi, enjoyed your video, very informative. Questions... do you need to dig footings to secure the posts on an Elitewood lattice patio cover? Can you attach the posts to existing 2' by 2' pilasters from previous patio cover?
Good Morning Charles, thanks we appreciate it. Technically you should attach posts on slab or embed into footings. You can also attach to plasters, but that's hard to determine, without seeing a picture. More of a case by case thing. The wind and snow loads on a lattice structure are alot less, so you can have more freedom in design and attachment options.
Cam you please explain how to know where to set the post and beams before u put a panel up?

Hey guys. I liked the video. I am currently building an duralum patio that will be half solid and half lattice top. Any advice with the transition?
Also, I am a bit confused on the front cover/ gutter thing. Was trying to watch your video closely but couldn’t tell how and in which direction it was hung 🤦🏽♂️. Any thing will help. Thanks
Hey Alex, great question. I normally use a tek screw through the extruded gutter into the 2 by 6 front wrap. Like 1 every foot and then seal the top seam between the 2 by 6 and Gutter.
The other way is 2 5/8 holes every 2 ft. On the front side of the 2 by 6 wrap, then put a screw through the holes and cover with provided 5/8 plug (the sideplate plugs). That's the more traditional way, but you have to drill alot more holes. As for the lattice transition, I build out the solid section first. Then do the lattice, so you can tie it in structurally and aesthetically better.

We have a 4 season patio cover and want to install a shade sail next to it and attach a plate onto the cover to support one side of the sail. Is this possible on some of these 4 seasons covers?
It honestly depends on what material was used and who installed it, also it's important where on the patio you would be installing the bracket. Feel free to send me some pictures and I would be glad to offer some advice.

For the person with leaks that have been taped. You clean good do not remove old tape then add a second layer of tape wider than the first layer, at least 1 inch wider so it over laps the old tape on each side. Then role it really good so that it sealed well.
Hey Janice, what brand seam take did you use?
I don’t use flashing on insulated covers. In 16 years I never and I’ve never had a leak because of flashing not being installed. I have for a screw hole not being sealed which is a rookie move ha or on a splice on two hangers and my Gus seal the wall and hanger to panel but for some reason they don’t seal the where the two c hangers meet. I have to walk up there with them and pint it out. “Seal here where the c hangers meet”
It really is funny how different crews do it, but the reality is flashing causes 90% of leaks. And yes all my new guys never think to seal where the C-Channel meets the insulated panel. Which is nuts, haha.

Do those panel hold weight if someone had to walk on top of them for any reason? Cover or repair leaks ?
I have all the parts except the hanging channel. Where would I buy something like that and would it be a 28 foot long piece (that's how many panels worth)?

Y'all ever try building with jacks and put post n beam last?
About half our crews use jacks, usually to build by themselves. I just personally don't because I've had a bad experience with them, with unlevel concrete and steel.
I noticed you didn’t show how you passed the cables through the insulated panels, how do you put conduit or romex through it I assume a hot rod to melt the foam or a long drill bit
Hey there! Great question, the insulated panels are made with electrical raceways inside of them where we pass the electrical cables through. Hope this clarifies, have a great day.

How do you drill into the roof to put up a fan, and did you use to do it with?
Hey Jose, great question. We didn't install a fan on this patio cover. But you would use a 1 1/2 bi-metal hole saw, you can get these at home depot. Center the hole on your fan beam between the beam and the house. Drill the hole into the 3 in. wide fan beam, the same one we use for lights. Run your electrical and use 2 in. 3/8 hex drive self tappers, to attach the fan mounting bracket to the fan beam. I put 2 screws on each side of the fan mounting bracket, if you are new at installing fans. The most important thing is making sure the mounting bracket is securely attached to the fan beam.

My neighbor is putting up something very similar to this, but the tongue and grooves of the panels are not coming together as easily as it looks in the video, spent 90+ mins yesterday and couldn’t get the panels connected . Do you have any advice for diy installers?

I have an insulated patio cover that is about 20 years old. The installers used some type of adhesive tape to join and seal the space between the panels. Now, it is leaking between the panels. What product can I use to reseal between the panels. Thanks.
I'd better be able to tell with pictures, but it sounds like there using peel and seal or something like it. I'd personally tear off the tape, use a wire brush tip in a drill to remove residue left at the seam. Then use sika flex to reseal it. Just send pictures to everydaypatio@gmail.com if you need more help with it. It is harder to fix an insulated patio cover, then to build it right the first time.

Hey Eugenio, great question. Decks are normally a pretty custom build, it's possible, the most important thing is footings. The uplift you get on a patio cover over 12 ft. is much great than one at ground level. If the footings are proper, this won't be an issue.

Can you show or describe how you ran the wires for the lights through the panels? Do they have a channel for wires? About to build one for my house and the wiring is the main thing I can’t figure out.
We run the electrical into the hanger, and then into the fan beam (which can be used for lights as well). Basically there's a channel inside the insulated panels to put your electrical lines into, and then you drill a hole for the lights or fan.

How much does someone charge to put up a 20 x 12 aluminum patio cover like this? Please break down typical pricing scenario for a project like this. I’m trying to have one installed and that information would be very helpful.
Hey Robin, thanks for reaching out. Price depends on a lot of different factors. If your patio cover is, insulated or non-insulated. W-pan or Flat Pan. Type of attachment and if footings are required, and if the patio cover includes electrical or no electrical. It's usually best to have a local company come bid out your project, with current material cost and labor cost in your area taken into account.

Do you think installing a tpo roof over the roof panel will help more to prevents any leak in the future or it will affect the integrity of the roof panel?
Currently, we've been painting on tropicool to seal roofs that have persistent leaks. We uploaded a video a few months ago showing how. It would probably be easier to install than TPO and not create an area for water to pool between both layers of roofing.

Can u tell me what silicone sealant did u guys use?
Hey Jack, currently I only use Nova Flex Metal Roof Sealant, due to its flexibility. Other manufacturers use a wide range of sealants, each with pros and cons. I don't recommend using Sika Flex, due to issues adhering to the patio cover, and degradation in the sun. This is only when building the patio cover though, for repairs I have a different liquid sealant I use.

With my alumawood patio under the cover I have a leak coming out of stucco between my vinyl sliding door and stucco. what could be the issue? Is there not enough sealant somewhere for water to get in. It only happens when it rains a lot.
Hey Danny, hard to tell without a clear picture of the roof. It could be the flashing, or just an improper hanger seal. We have a video about how to repair an insulated hanger leak, if you want to have a better idea of where the leak could be coming from.

How’d you guys run the wires to the other lights? Thru the C channel?
Hey I got your message and sent you a more detailed reply, be careful running the electrical without proper supervision. Code changes from state to state, but at the very least make sure it is in the hanging channel.

@@EverydayPatio I'm having this done this week and running the electrical. Contractor wasn't sure if there was enough space between the hanger and panel for wires to run. Would I be able to fit (2) 14/2 wires in between the panel and hanger to run to my existing light, exactly how you guys did?
@@michaelsparrow9274 Hey Michael, it depends on the type of hanging channel or C channel you have. Some are only around 1 to 2 inches in depth, giving you a small space to run the wires. The hanger we use has close to a half inch space for wires in the back of the channel.

How long of a span can you do on a double beam? with 2x2 lattice. 24' beam 2 posts with 1' over hang on beam each end of beam. is it doable?

After the initial install, how often should the owner re-seal/caulk the cover on top?
Hey Angela, if the caulking is done right, with the correct brand and bead size, it shouldn't have to be re-caulked or sealed. It needs to be a permanently flexible caulking on the insulated covers.

Hello, I have insulated 3" cover. It has gotten moldy on top and have leaks. Underneath I have some rust stains. What product do you recommend to take the mold off and rust stains underneath. Also can I waterproof the whole top roof, and what product you recommend for waterproofing. Thanks.

What's type/brand of sealant is the best to use?

Hey Sonny, we call it side fascia. Any 3 inch tall side piece should work. Ideally painted extruded aluminum.

If you have a porch light, without doing an extension box and make the porch light stick out from wall, how do you get electrical to patio cover?
The video really didn’t focus on that.
So how do you get power based on my last question?
Hey Shawn, thanks for the comment. You can run conduit, plastic or metal emt, up to the hanging channel, drill a hole into the bottom of the hanging channel and connect your electrical that way. The other option, which we did on this Patio Cover, is breaking out the stucco behind the hanging channel and a few spots below, to be able to fish your wire into the porch light box. Which way you ultimately run the wires, depends on the house electrical.

Can these be shingled if so what kind
Hey Gavin, yea we can in Ranger Roof. OSB board is good to the top and then the roof can be Shingled/Tiled etc. It should be a 4/12 standard roof pitch, instead of a mostly flat roof pitch

@gavinb6492 I meant to say we call it Ranger Roof, and yea it's fine with weight. The main thing is having the right pitch, so water runs off. The tiles are supposed to be lightweight tiles as well.

Good Day Clay, repairs can be tricky if you don't know what the cause is. Without pictures it's hard to lead you in the right direction. It could be flashing, it could be improper caulking, depending on the type of leak, then you would determine the type of repair. If the roof is insulated, you should be able to walk on it, if it's not insulated you will be plywood or extra support, if the structure is in good condition.
