A. Within the next five (5) business days (sooner the better), go to your Local Social
Security office. It is best to pick a day the SSA office is not busy, commonly Wednesday - Friday.

@@TheDisabilityDigest I will let u know when the letter comes in. It was a hearing in front of an ALJ, and a vocational expert. I didn't have an attorney, but I believe it went well. The first hypothetical ..the ve read off 3 jobs. 2 follow up hypotheticals ve said were no jobs. It could be a while before I get the decision during this pandemic. I hope not. I pray for favor. I believe it.

In California I am over 63 years old this is before my actual SSA retirement age , I applied for SS and SSDI in August 2021 I started collecting SSI immediately. I received a totally favorable approval in August 2022. I was collecting EDDI State disability when I received my approval ..SS had me sign a paperwork saying I wanted to continue to collect my state disability until exhausted, three months later it has exhausted...I am still waiting for an award letter!! Chances are good I will become homeless before I see any Disability...just adding to my depression and stress.

I was told I had a fully favorable decision, I didn’t get a letter. 5 months later, I received a letter saying the original judge can no longer make decisions, and, a new judge was assigning to the case, what does that mean, and, will I still get my fully favorable decision?
I remember the paper checks, the first one I had is photocopied and in with other records. They have all been scanned by now. I still have the copies but I scanned them since I don't have any replacements for them.
I got approved without a ALJ
Depending on the severity of your case they may expedite it. That doesn't happen for everyone. Instead they get stuck in limbo waiting for the decision.
Also consider that if you did get benefits and you have appealed for a more favorable decision they may review your file and decide that you are not disabled or something. So depending on how much backpay you may lose it might not be worth that risk.

I know S.S. has to deny most people if they didnt be to many on disability .But make it quicker to decide and more just
Looks like got letter from judge was mailed out on February 15 and notice of award was mailed out on March 3rd, are they moving that quickly?

I was supposed to have a telephone hearing today, but the computer system went down nationwide. My attorney said it could take up to say x months for another hearing. I'm going to lose everything. I have no income at all. This was just my luck, even though my attorney said he believes I'm going to win

My Disability Lawyer contacted me yesterday and told me my case was Fully Favorable. I've had the Initial (denied), Reconsideration (denied), 1st hearing (denied) and 2nd hearing (finally approved), but I haven't heard or received anything from SSA. He told me I would receive a letter soon, but the SSA website has not updated with any message. How quickly should I expect the letter (or Website update) if my Lawyer already has the information. The strangest thing happened to me. I had my video hearing November 9th. I haven't received any letter or award notice but yesterday I received a check from US treasury in the amount equal to what a normal Californian receives for SSI. The check even says social security on it. So I am assuming I was found to be fully favorable? Is it normal to receive a check before a notice?

Finally approved my mom for ssi. Today ssa rep calls and ask can she prove family and friends was helping her financially dating back to 2017. My mom told them she has to pay everyone back. Then the rep asked her to submit recent bank statements. With all my mom disabilities and elder care, this is adding insult to injury.
Really ridiculous how much turmoil they put people through after a fully favorable decision.

I received a letter stating the decision of commissioner has been reversed. In favor of plaintiff and ordered and done case closed. But have court date and its at federal appeal

I filed in 2015 and received reimbursement check for federal filing fees. Haven't received anything and hearing by phone was a no call. The only thing that makes sense is my neighbor a opertunistic and the worst neighbor in USA. Literally put house for sale and his BFF moved in. A pimp and has brand new red Camaro and neighbor has solar panels. I believe they stole my benefits lump sum and receive my monthly payments.

I did my hearing with my lawyer on Sept 18 2020, I have not heard anything. The person at the hearing told the judge that there were no jobs for me. Why is it taking so long?
Hi I have a 23 year old niece who just received social security disability, sadly she has been terminally ill since 13 but no one helped her take care of this, the process went very quickly, but the person on the phone told me they could only go back one year. Her notice of award letter said October $610 in 2022, $663 Nov 2022, $684 Dec 2023. She received the $684, but not the other two amounts and what happened to going back a full year? "Your medical decision was reached and you were found disabled. There is additional development needed to determine your eligibility for payment" when I turned 18 they cancelled my disability and my mother had no idea how to reapply 7 years later and we finally reapplied to the right place and that is what they sent me. 12 or so months later. I have no idea if this is approval or not.
I believe it means they just have to check your finances to assure the proper payment
Just received a status saying benefit under review. This is an initial application. Filled out adult function report, was never sent work report or sent to CE. Is this a good or bad sign?

I was awarded SSDI a few days ago on my first attempt! I had a lawyer but I’m not sure how much that helped or didn’t help. But I’m trying to figure out is if my daughter is eligible for any money off my keys. She just turned 16, and has been my dependent, I have had primary residential custody since 2009. My daughter moved in with her dad and stepmom August last year 2020. So does she have to actually reside with me now going forward in order to benefit? Or could my ex-husband get money from my case for himself or for her? What if we changed custody and she moved back in with me then would she be able to get the money? Yes, if you are granted SSDI, your daughter will automatically get 1/2 of your total benefits. If she's enrolled in High school full-time and payments will end when she turns 18 OR graduates High school.
Be sure to give SSA a copy of the decree that says, you're primary custodial parent so they are aware of this.
Talk to your lawyer about your daughter's home situation. Don't know what State you live in, situations are different everywhere SSA will decide on who is to be your daughter's payee.

Paraphrased she basically said, "I believe her witnesses and doctors saw and diagnosed what they saw but they're too stupid to realize she's faking it. Her issues shouldn't be this bad and she can perform medium work like an egg washer (... How old are you honorable (lol) "judge" Lisa Hall? Who tf employs people to wash eggs these days? They have machines they don't have to pay or offer benefits to, to do it.)"
She also honed in on the problem causing me the least amount of problems.
My doctor is PISSED. He said, "who is the one who went to med school? It sure wasn't her!"
The NP and my neurosurgeon are so mad they're looking for ways to get her removed. One of my friends did some digging (not sure how legal this is and I don't care anymore. Unscrupulous activities are about how I'm going to make money.) and found out she approved someone for OBESITY. Yanno, something that can be solved with a treadmill.
So eff her. She pissed off way too many people with this one that she will probably regret it. Yes it's a threat but she will have forgotten it's related to me by the time her karma comes.
So my doctor is running me through all the tests and telling me to go to the appeals court. He also said, "hey she's accusing you of lying anyways. Reapply and lie. Why not? Judge gave me a fully favorable on March 30th of this year. Received the fully favorable letter. I’m literally behind on bills, how can I expedite this process? I can’t get a hold of my lawyer for some reason. I feel lost. Do my dependents get a completely separate check or will it deposited into my account with my backpay?

Applied September 2015 Been denied twice and gt approved last march 2021 in federal court. I have no choice to remain patient but any advice on why my approval letter hasn't been sent yet? I'm trying to get SSI for when I have a total knee replacement. The other one, the right knee isn't very bad shape also it's had a fractured kneecap a fractured female bone and to be a plateau fracture although I'm walking on it it's very difficult painful and it slips and it's kind of a mess. I understand Pennsylvania will not do anything for less than a year and they don't consider total knee replacement only for 6 months and not a year. I'm wondering if because my other knee is so bad and by the time they get to doing that surgery it will be a year or a little over a year in total. I'm scared I'll have no money if if I don't get SSI
It takes 1 whole year to 18 months to be totally healed and some people 2 years everyone is different! From total knee replacement

What’s the timeline on a decision after a alj hearing
DHS told me my son was approved for SSDI and already changed my benefits, but I haven’t received a call, approval letter, nor any payments for this yet. The third party company I applied through called and explained I would probably get a back pay check by the end of February, my first monthly payment March 1st. Does that sound accurate? They also told me the approval letter would come this week, still nothing though! They did tell me that my back pay would be for the 18 months we waited though!

I'm from Indianapolis. Before I got my denial, yesterday, I downloaded my letter that shows I'm not currently receiving benefits. But one of the lines read, 'you are entitled to receive benefits being the dependent of the worker,' which is me.. I found a lawyer, and will fight to the death, but was curious what that statement meant. I'm bipolar with high anxiety.

On web site myssa received a msg saying I was denied SSI, yesterday received msg saying A Decision has been made on your benefit application your claim has been processed a notice has been sent to you with a detailed explanation of the decision. Is this a good sign?
From reading other people comments that received that same message they were denied. Don't take my word but wait til you get the letter in ur hand🙏🙏🙏
A lot has changed with the government concerning back pay along rather or not you had any assistance in-between waiting. I was told the amount of back pay only goes only for 12 months or less (depending on when you applied for disability or SSI and when you was approve). Also, the SSA representative in my area (state) took some of my back pay and didn't tell me why when I asked. Anyway, I called the 1 800 (main number) and got info from a person I spoke with about my claim as well as told how rude and hateful the representative in my area was towards me. The woman from the 1800 number told me the SSA representative took some of my back pay due to getting public assistance (help with my electric bill and snap benefits) in which didn't make sense to me at all. She assured me it was a legal reason without a proper or understanding cause (she wasn't for sure herself). It's all so confusing!

Too much illegal activity going on within the SSA. I still feel this is one of the things causing 'overpayments' that needs to be investigated by outside sources having NOTHING to do with our government.
My wife just had her phone hearing, about 5 minutes after our lawyer called and said she did great on the interview...Do you think she was approved? She forgot to hang up the phone and she believes she over heard the judge say she would be approved for 1 year.

Hello , so I won my case I’ve gotten two checks from ssd. But no back pay because they say the judge did not approve payment to my attorney, for the fee . They say it could be a year or more before I get back pay
I believe a year is a bit harsh based on my experience you should be able to resolve this within 90 to 120 days

Once you receive your approval letter how long after you receive the letter and payment start do you start to receive your back payment after you all ready been approved for spouse survivor benefits or widow benefits

Is a benifit letter the same as award letters? I was approved partially favorable decision and the benifit letter online says 21.90 but round down to 21.00 a month why is that?

Hello Sir I received my benefit verification letter today and it said i was approved for $2330 monthly pay starting in 3 months and they found me disabled over 2yrs ago on may 23rd 2022. The question and problem is they said i wouldn't get paid until july 2024 and with no back pay, but the letter says " We found you became disabled under our rules on May 23, 2022 " Can you help me to understand this matter or what should i do. I received personal injury settlement July of 2022. I spent it paying bills and living on. It was spent done under the 2000 dollars by November 2022. January 2023 I was approved after my hearing in February 2023. My question is how will that settlement effect that decision. Will it effect back pay?

@@TheDisabilityDigest I just received a letter from SSA Federal Appeals Council stating that my claim has been remanded and given back to the SSA for another hearing. They overlooked my my inability to stand or sit for long periods. According to my Dr. evaluation, I can’t do either. So, we will see how it goes with my next hearing with the ALJ. I’m praying and putting it in the hands of Jesus.

It’ll depend on how the speech is affected. If it rises to the level that person cannot communicate, or it causes a disruption at a work place, more than likely. You either have to prove you’re physically incapable, or that you would be a burden on an employer.

According to my portal I should have received a initial ssdi decision in 6 months, now it's 8 months and still waiting. Does this mean anything?
We are finding that there’s still additional delays because of COVID-19 although your portal says a six month decision it could be up to 11 months

So if since I got the call from the exam lady about getting paper work in the mail to fill it out and then I would be going to be going to the doctors office on their expense does that mean im one stp closer to getting an approval from disability????
It does mean that you are 1 step closer to getting a decision. If this is you initial application it will likely be the last step before you get a decision
The doctors are dismissive, and basically sum up how THEY feel about you and your condition. Definitely in cahoots with SSDI. Just do research on disability lawyers in your city, and prepare to fight. That's exactly what I'm doing!
