A lot has changed with the government concerning back pay along rather or not you had any assistance in-between waiting. I was told the amount of back pay only goes only for 12 months or less (depending on when you applied for disability or SSI and when you was approve). Also, the SSA representative in my area (state) took some of my back pay and didn't tell me why when I asked. Anyway, I called the 1 800 (main number) and got info from the person I spoke with about my claim as well as told how rude and hateful the representative was towards me. The woman from the 1800 number told me the SSA representative took some of my back pay due to getting public assistance (help with my electric bill and snap benefits) in which didn't make sense at all to me. She assured me it was a legal reason without a proper or understanding cause (she wasn't for sure herself). It's all so confusing!
This is my experience thank you sis it may be demographic thing I'm in Detroit where it's majority black. Just keep your head up sis your not the only one.
They took your money because you were on food stamps?? I am on food stamps. I'm a single mother. Does that mean they will take money off of me? That would be outrageous. I only get enough to last me half the month as it is.
I haven't applied yet. I was asking the state (sw MI) disability ?'s. They said if I applied for SDA State Disability Assistance & then was approved for SSI Disability that SSI would pay back to the State the amount paid out to me while waiting for approval. They never mentioned anything about paying back food assistance benefits, only SDA (cash) benefits🤔🤔🤔. Is there a law school near by you could call for free advice? Some good attorneys will answer ?'s for free also. I am left confused myself now. Sending love & prayers to anyone else struggling.
Because the disability determination office lost my claim. They said it happens very often and that I should have known to call in and ask. I said well I’m doing that now. They responded that the process was being started over so I still have to wait. I’m visually impaired and completely blind in my right eye due to diabetic retinopathy. So working anymore is very difficult. It’s just a waiting game at this point.
Brian what ever happened to that lady on SSDI who got a letter saying she owed them 37 thousand bucks? Can you do a video on this and we're you able to help her?
Radio silence have not received a response. there have been other overpayment issues I will make an attempt to follow through with them and see what happens
I was out 27 months before my Disability got approved. My attorney said I will not be getting my back pay because I was collecting Workers Compensation that settled 2 days my before my Social Security hearing. I bet my greedy attorney will be collecting her commission on the 27 months back pay. A few weeks later I was told by my SSI attorney that I will be receiving my back pay, but am responsible for some of the future medical expenses. It was right at the threshold and felt a little bit like winning 🥇 the lottery for a few days.

I got approved for SSI disability on September 29 and I just today seen on my social security account how much my benefits are going to be but it doesn't say anything about back pay ...
Social security back dated my disability onset date to November 2019 - that’s when I became disabled and the Army doctors would no longer allow me to work. I medically retired from the Army after 18 years. I applied for social security disability 16 months ago and I’m still waiting on approval. So even though my onset date is more than 12 months from the date I applied, I can’t receive more than 12 months of backpay? Also, since it’s been 16 months since I applied, will I get 16 months of retroactive pay? Or do they cap that at 12 months too? Thanks in advance!
I cannot ever get a clear answer on back pay. I was approved in March and my official disability date was June 2021. It is may 2024 and I haven't received anything yet. No monthly , no backpay.
Let’s say you medically retired from the Army in October of 2020 and didn’t have a job since then because you’re legally disabled and you applied for social security disability on let’s say October of 2021. You are owed both retro and back pay from October 2020 to present day November 2024. That’s 49 months TIMES let’s say $2,000 equals $98,000 of both Retro and Backpay.
I need help with my disability I haven't worked since 2018 and they keep denying me I had to start over telling me I can only get the 12 months pay when and if I get it this time I have RA arthritis and spinal stenosis
Hi Tammy! I just have RA with cont fx on my feet and loss of a left thumb joint. Back pain. Denied. If you have any mental health issues please list! Bipolar disorder or Severe Depression can be added then you can win your case! Good luck sweetie do not give up and get a lawyer. They only get paid if you win! ❤️
The deal is....they know how desperate you are lF and BY THE TIME you are approved. Not to mention confused and blind to the system operations. Utterly surreal when it all happens and the attorney has already cashed in so no help from them anymore. On your own now. Just another stray dog that gets slung a scrap! Literally.
So confusing. EOD is June 2022, application date is Aug 2022. $1857 per month and my hearing finally is June 2024. So is it June +5 months is Nov 2022. So would i get paid from Nov 2022 to the approval date. Example June 2024 is the approval date. So would it be 19 months in backpay? Im getting conflicting information i found a calculator that basically does the transaction above. But also peopke are talking about 12 months. And some are saying they are not getting any back oay even though its been years. I have to pay the lawyer plus pay the state back for the $373 a month they gave me for T-dap. I'm seeing people mention paying back food stamps? Is that the case and what about medical coverage, do i have to pay that back?
Can I get my back money back after it’s been spent without my consent. When I was little my aunt tricked me into signing a form that stated we both split the money and spent it but I never touch a penny of it. It’s a really crushing feeling being used like that by my own family
My onset date is September 2020 and I applied for ssdi January 2023 and my approval date is September 2024. Would it be safe to say my backpay/retro would be approx 29.5 months in total?
To understand how back pay and retroactive benefits work, you can watch this video: ua-cam.com/video/LoFDqUQNbVE/v-deo.html. In general, Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits can be paid for up to 12 months prior to the application date (not counting the 5-month waiting period after your disability onset date). This is often referred to as "retroactive benefits". "Back pay" refers to the benefits owed from the time you apply until the time you are approved. However, the specifics of your case may vary, and the video will provide a more detailed explanation. Remember, we're here to support you. I've watched your video again and I finally begin to comprehend between the difference of the retro pay and back pay. Thank you attorney you're the best! 💕
Im expecting a back pay for my son for August 6th. Should i call the process center and see are they going to deposit it this Friday or just wait? 4:58 hello, I filed for SSDI 3/2024. I got approved 9/2024. Is SS supposed to hold 5 months from my back pay? That would leave me with no back pay. I'm not complaining, but the time I was out of work, I racked up some bills, and of course, my attorney got 25%, and I couldn't get him to return any of my phone calls. I need help with this please 🙏
When you are approved for SSDI, Social Security typically withholds the first five months of back pay as a waiting period, starting from your established onset date of disability. This means if you filed in March 2024 and were approved in September 2024, your back pay would start five months after your disability onset, not the application date. Additionally, attorneys are usually entitled to 25% of the back pay (up to a $7,200 cap). Since you’re concerned about receiving no back pay, you may want to review the onset date Social Security used and clarify with them, as it could affect how much you’re owed. If you're not a member yet, you can join us here: bit.ly/48wwOqV. Thanks!
Good morning i was recently approved for a waiver abd it was a overpayment recovery but i reapplied and it's been 13 months and i been out of work for 6 months now and I'm wanting to know if the SSA has to refund the amount that they collected when i was paying the overpayment when i was paying it before it got waived
I know this video is fairly old, but I was just awarded my SSDI after losing the initial request, and filing my first appeal. So my appeal was granted. This process took about 3 years, and if I am understanding this correctly, I will only receive 12 months of the backpay? Seeing as the initial filing requests have a very low success rate, and that an appeal is 18 months these days, does this not seem a little unfair? I am quite happy that I was finally approved, but after fighting for 3 years only to get 1 year of backpay is pretty sad. Any information would be helpful, thank you god bless.
Congratulations on finally getting your SSDI approved! 🎉 It’s true that only 12 months of back pay is awarded, even if the process has taken years, which can feel unfair given how lengthy and challenging appeals can be. Unfortunately, this is due to the current rules, which allow back pay only up to 12 months before the Established Onset Date (EOD) of your disability. As for any new developments, the Social Security landscape could see changes, especially with the new administration. President Trump has previously expressed interest in reforming Social Security, though details are still unfolding. It’s worth keeping an eye on policy changes, as they might impact timelines or payment structures in the future. Stay connected here, and we’ll keep you posted on any updates that could affect your benefits! 💪

After 3 years of not working and 3 hearing they approved me at the date of my last hearing?? I can appeal in 15 days of today. I have watched you and because of your videos I was approved nov 10th 2022 stopped working nov 19 th 2019. So ?? Retro pay? Is it possible? Should I not appeal? As of nov 10th it put me in the 55 year old age group. I believe that is why I won. No back pay and citizens' disability bailed on me after nov 10th hearing. Do They get any of my checks? And retro ? Should or could I get that and not appeal? Citizens disability is a horrible company!! Trust everything this man says! His advice is the only reason after 2 hearings I won my 3rd kinda? Thank you
Thank you for that information when I applied I got turn down no one told what I would have to do to get another try for my disability I wait almost a year to file against n does that make me eligible to receive back and one of the commentaries said they got very nasty with me what do you think I should do go and try or let it go

We received a portion of SSI back pay, as the responsible payee can I pay back family members who paid rent for recipient rent in a boarding care home?
Hello, I was just recently approved for ssdi. In the payment section on my online profile it says that I am set up for receiving a check for the back pay. I updated my direct deposit info, I was just wondering do you think SSA will send me the check like it states on the website? Or will they send it direct deposit ? Thank you *✨
So even though you were receiving state disability from your job for a year , and then applied for permanent disability and get approved you can still get back paid for that year when you were receiving state disability????
My onset date is September 2020 and I applied on January 2023 and was approved on September 2024. This is the best part of 4 years and what I'm understanding is that I only get 12 months Retro and 12 months Backpay l, is that correct?

Look when they took the money out of my paycheck I did not say WELL OUT OF THE 12 MONTH I CAN ONLY PAY YOU "GOVERNMENT" 5 MONTHS. They took the money so for what ever reason if I get approved 3 years after initial registration date I should be entitled to the 3 years of retroactive pay.
I need help with representation. They have told me repeatedly since 2016 that I was denied SSDI they put me on SSI and consequently I found a letter that was an open. I don’t know my mother had got it and I didn’t have it that says that under the Social Security disability rules that I grew up, I do qualify and so now I went down to surgery. I I said that he’s better but I have says that I didn’t qualify back in 2016. Tell me well that was a long time ago not sure understand and fly peeled they’re saying I didn’t qualify and now I need representation to our plan so that when I go in for this appeal, I can be able to understand exactly what I need to bring.

I understand that you're concerned about your appeal due to an error in your initial application. While it's difficult to predict the outcome of any specific case, it's important to know that many people do find success through the appeals process. The key to a successful appeal is providing clear and comprehensive evidence of your disability and how it affects your ability to work. This includes medical records, statements from doctors, and detailed descriptions of your daily activities and limitations. If you're not a member yet, you can join us here: bit.ly/48wwOqV.
Hi Brian, I have a question. I worked right up to the day I had wrist surgery back in 2020 October 27th was last day worked, surgery didnt go well tried going back to work but couldnt. I had other injuries from past surgeries . filed for disability in February of 2023. I looked on my online acount for social security and my file said 80% completed and hit verification letter for the heck of it and it says under their rules they found me disabled on October 27th my last day of work.?? How can this be

my LTD insurance company is going after me for 3 years of SSDI back pay. Same LTD company was supposed to pay me after SSDI started , just a lower amount, the LTD company kept 2 years of it and applied it towards the backpay total they say I owed them. Now I'm too old ( over 66) so now the LTD kicked me out and the SSDI is turning to regular retirement SS this year because of my age. Can this LTD comp garnish my SS retirement benefits ? I'm really worried because SS retirement is all I have .
Sadly, part of why I had to quit working was that words quit meaning anything to me at times. Which sucks because I used to be really intelligent. I solved things no one else could and here we are. A body so broken by covid I can't work anymore. 2 years ago, I ended my career as a virtualization engineer/manager. I just submitted paperwork for disability when it became clear I won't recover. I'm over 60, so it may not be worth it? My question: How would backpay work for someone like me? Only the time from submission to hopeful approval, or do they go back after I had to leave work? I'm sorry, I just couldn't keep track of your explanation... 🙄😢 written word helps me.
Have faith, and persist…determination is key. This is a ridiculous punitive system demanding excessive stuff from people already suffering so much. Sending prayers ❤
@@BeLoveUnconditional Thank you, and you are right! unbelievable amounts of paperwork sent with a small window to complete it. It takes me forever because I keep forgetting stuff, forget what I am supposed to answer, etc. I don't even know if I did it right. And now they are sending me to not one, but two doctors appointments. Why? I don't know. Everything is in my medical records. And none of my conditions can be faked. weird!
My brother has applied three times for disability and been denied twice and appealed both times. He is currently waiting on the judge to decide on his third attempt. If the judge decides in his favor, will he receive back pay from his first attempt to now (roughly 36 months)?
My granddaughter just got approved in Sept 2023 to now. I don't know how back pay works for her. She's 3 years old and has Autism. Now on her paperwork it's saying that she was approved in June 2022. Now this is why I am confused 🤔 because SC is always ripping ppl off. So could someone please help me figure this out.
Hi there! Back pay refers to benefits that are owed from the time the application was filed until the time the claim was approved. In your granddaughter's case, if she was approved in September 2023 but her paperwork indicates that she was eligible from June 2022, she may be entitled to back pay for that period. The calculation of back pay can be complex and depends on various factors, including the date of application and the date the disability was determined to begin. We have a video that provides more information about back pay. You can watch it here: ua-cam.com/video/LoFDqUQNbVE/v-deo.html. Thanks!
I just found out that they have been underpaid me? How does that work as far as getting that money back? Is that an immediate thing or do I have to wait until my next back pay check? I'm referring to monthly funds. That they were shorting me not back.
My disability has been sitting at 90% compeletion for over 13 months and my case worker will not answer… i have pyoderma in my legs crohns and a lot more…

My case was about 2010 I'm 59 just had 3 separate stent. Was lucky lost me first one but second went smooth then third one again had problems. Now working on diabetes type 2 was out of control effecting bacterial infection in organs but gone and still weak hope to feel better. But was disabled from broken neck and surgeon compressed nerve under plate I believe was told. Two years of atrophy and constant pain now permit damage. Just cause surgeon even after nerve conduction test after not before surgery. Oh this gets better. So my company shuts down cause was during bank crises are couldn't work. Saved my 401 k max my whole life to see while all BS going on was hoping I was going to hit 300 k in it. Was growing at times great. Market collapse and that's expected right? Bank comes after my house and 401k dropped to 100 and something. Same bank that is trying to get my home I had to get taxed 65k right off the bat. So goes to them to bail out right? I'm in auto industry but right got money to save banks but fought to not help industry I was in. Then what's funny doctor who did nerve conduction test did my corporal tunner couple years before remember me and I knew him. Runs test says you have compression in neck. Go back and lost it. Surgeron should of done that test first period. So two years past shoulder down atrophies. I Google best othapedic surgeon in our area right? He wanted his MRI which is great. I had two more blown disk and you know the interns under him spotted that and compressed nerve. He fixed me and said top two went well and I felt great no bad back spasms from top disk. He released other nerve but said was like a5 percent chance can repair. My second surgeon was Dr.Daniel Reiw and all heads of states use him and come to our country . Now has wing in NY Presbyterian hospital and number one in teaching technically orthopedic.Im thankfully.Bank if America almost had me lose my home but saved it. Did I mention three years before my soulmate came down with ALS and was hardest crap ever to see her go. Busted my ass but couldn't stop it of coarse. The mother about time Riew was done came down with cancer and helped best I could. But hold my backpay that's classy and can't make this up. I could of waited had another judge but wait 12 plus months again. I saved my house by one day. Yes I'm mad cause my heart will drop me within 3 years at at latest. Had to take with no backpay to save home. Never rented whole life dream of being home owner since day I bought first house at 20. I'm done but it's BS no one will help anyone on hear and to late now anyway. Seen in my mailbox so hope I don't get more spam
I don't understand, so is the most i can get is a years worth? I'm applying under my dad and i was disabled since i was 18 in 2016 and have evidence for that and even the way the judge talked made it sound possible i can be paid all these years under my father but not under mine cause i ain't insured far enough
So i basically wasn't able to apply for social security, basically till december 2019 but I'm on a 2nd case cause i didn't appeal my first case cause of depression and it was hard to do stuff during 2020 but i remade my 2nd case till sometime that year and they can see that So you're telling me that no matter what, i can only go back 12 months for pay no matter if my onset day is december 2019 or august 2016? That's a lot of money to lose, especially if I'm only getting hundreds and not thousands for my monthly payment All of this stuff is confusing
I remembered 30yrs back I had an issue with my employer(Federal Government)and was on leave without pay and I filed for assistance and was told once I get back to work I will have to pay back every dime back.I pay taxes and you have immigrants who get assistance and never have to pay a penny back.Bullshit!!
Hello I just filled for my disability in March but I had filled back in January of 2020 then I called them and told them that I changed my mind and was going to try and work alittle longer. So when I filed in March they went back to 2019 because that was the last time I had made over 20.000 dollars in income for the year. And so I'm wondering if that could count as the 2 years your talking about? Also I'm wondering if I don't see a Dr. Regularly if that will cause my case to be denied?
Great questions I could have counted as your back pay. Also you could have kept your case open and tried to work and if unsuccessful the work event could have been used as evidence to help you get approved. Now that you are back at work you should follow the information on this channel that will help you get approved fast when you stop working. I cannot ever get a clear answer on back pay. I was approved in March 2024 and my official disability date was June 2021. It is may 2024 and I haven't received anything yet. No monthly , no backpay.
I was electrocuted in june 2001 burned 55% of my body working on a billboard. I applied for disability sometime in 2002 and was denied, (which i couldn't understand why). I'm about to apply again and won't stop untill im approved. Will I get backpay or retro pay from 2002?
I got approved for SSD in September but I still haven’t seen any money from them how long does it take to start seeing a check? They told me that they are trying to figure out how much I am going to be getting back in back pay We are going into November now. Do you know if it will be much longer?
Generally, it takes 3-5 months to get a decision. However, the exact time depends on how long it takes to get your medical records and any other evidence SSA needs to make a decision. The time it takes to get a decision on your disability application can vary depending on: The nature of your disability; How quickly we can get your medical evidence from your doctor or other medical source; Whether it is necessary to send you for a medical examination; and Whether we review your application for quality purposes.
I have been paying Part D since my SSI 100% rating and should not have as I am 100% disabled and get all my prescriptions through there. How can I recover that $24,000 I have overpaid?
Hi David.... Not sure. Would need more info to confirm. If you are paying for a part D plan and using the VA for treatment it is possible to eliminate the part D payment and stay compliant. They won't give me my back pay just a check every six months. I been unemployed for three years I need to at least pay the credit card. An keep up my truck up like maintenance.
I understand that managing finances can be challenging, especially when dealing with unemployment and awaiting back pay. For more information on how to manage your backpay and Social Security Disability benefits, you might find this video helpful: ua-cam.com/video/LoFDqUQNbVE/v-deo.html.
I got a letter saying I was supposed to get 2 backpayment checks. One for $1,944, which I received and one for $2,790, which I never received. I saw two other guys with 2 backpayment checks in their hands, but I only got the one $1,944. Is there anyway I can still get my $2,790 check or is it just embezzled??? I got approved for Social Security in 2012. Thanks!
Im on ssi only get 890 per month an they didn't give me full backpay 3 an half years for me was 42k I only got 21k bc they tell you that you don't get full backpay I only got half
The Social Security Administration (SSA) typically pays backpay in installments, especially for SSI recipients. This is because the SSA has a limit on the amount of money you can receive in a single payment. The first two payments cover the first 12 months of owed benefits, and the final payment covers the remaining amount. These payments are typically made six months apart. If you believe there has been a mistake in your backpay calculation, it may be beneficial to consult with a disability attorney or advocate. They can help you understand the process and potentially assist in resolving the issue. Not a member? Join us here: bit.ly/34wviJY or Submit your question here: support@thedisabilitydigest.com
Question. Filed 06/2021 and as of today my online status finally states as 04/22/22 that DDS has completed the medical review. Now a rep in another state is starting a final review to make sure that you still meet the non medical requirements for Disability requirements. Which could take 2 to 4 weeks? I guess a letter will be coming with decision? Don’t want to get my hopes up since this is an initial application and I know the denial rates but does this sound normal? But they conducted a non medical review in the beginning so why do it again?
it is a good sign that you passed then medical. If you have enough work credits this is a good indication that you will be approved. Keep me posted. - Brian
@@thomasalewis340 Just a complete guess, you filed to both? Because of income and assets, SSI wasn't approved, SSDI was approved as you had 40 credits. I would also guess you received back pay...correct?
I got approved for SSDI and SSI. I already know I’m getting the SSI back payment but will I also be getting SSDI back payment ? I’ve been getting SSDI monthly payments for 2 months already
Hey Brian, when I applied for SSI my mother and I had an oral agreement that I would pay her back my fair share if ever approved. Now here we are about 3 weeks away from my hearing. Will the SSI honor this agreement and give me the full backpay from when I applied or will they only give me 2/3 since I have nothing in writing? Thank You

Question I've been waiting on a back pay it's been in the overpayment center since November 8th they told me on November 11th that I was going to get it by November 28th if you have a overpayment on your account can't you still receive your back pay
When you hire a disability lawyer to help with your Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) claim, they typically work on a contingency fee basis. This means they only get paid if you win your case. It's important to discuss fees upfront with any lawyer you're considering hiring. This way, you'll know exactly what to expect and there won't be any surprises. Thank you for your input!

I understand that the process of applying for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) can be quite complex and lengthy. It's great to hear that you've been approved in 2024 after reapplying in 2018. As for the amount of back pay you should receive, it's difficult for me to provide a specific figure as it depends on various factors, including your work history, the severity of your disability, and the date your disability began. However, I can share some resources that might help you understand the process better. You might find it helpful to watch these videos: "Should You Appeal Your Disability Award" - ua-cam.com/users/shortss2dglREXfm4 "How Mike appealed his disability award and collected $19 K more" - ua-cam.com/video/G4RCGiYsnJU/v-deo.html These videos can provide some insights into the appeal process and how it might affect the amount of benefits you receive. Remember, every case is unique, and these are just examples.
Thanks for sharing your experience
I think attorneys are the only people able to clarify the laws or rules. There is too much inconsistency between federal and state programs
Great information Brian, I'm waiting for decision now. Thanks.
Years ago, nobody never waited a long time to receive SSI until sometime later
I’ve been waiting going on 5 years now.
Did you finally get paid?
@@Boviaswhy?
It was right at the threshold
and felt a little bit like winning 🥇 the lottery for a few days.

No, you should get 12mos retro+ application to current date back pay
Ive been on ssdi for 9 years
Thank you for sharing the information.
What about when disability tells you that they waiting on your medical records to be is it a good chance you may be receiving
Nope
Great information thanks Brian!
You are welcome
It’s a really crushing feeling being used like that by my own family
this is not an area that I have experience with
You can look up an attorney to help with filing legal action against your aunt…you had rights even as a minor

Thank you

Do you automatically get both or do you HAVE TO take action to get the retro pay? I just got approved .
you submit your date of onset in your application and if agreed upon by SSA they will pay based on that date. So it is not automatic.
If I got approved for SsdI will I also get ssi?
NO!

If you're not a member yet, you can join us here: bit.ly/48wwOqV.

my LTD insurance company is going after me for 3 years of SSDI back pay.

My brother has applied three times for disability and been denied twice and appealed both times. He is currently waiting on the judge to decide on his third attempt. If the judge decides in his favor, will he receive back pay from his first attempt to now (roughly 36 months)?
Social Security will attempt to obtain all available evidence necessary to determine the exact day of that month the claimant became disabled.
What if you do win the case will they pay you for all that time ?
Can my kids get back pay and if yes how far do they go back for it.
yes
By any chance do you know how far they would date back to.
I had to wait twelve months before i got my disability and never got no back pay. My wife had to wait six months and she got back pay.

If you didn't work much and got approved for ssdi, what is the minimum you may receive monthly?
Thanks!

Question can ssi backpay be paid out on the direct Express card
Hi Cassie, not completely confident in that question
I was told by judge if I accepted it with no backpay I was approved . She had lowest case approved in state by a lot and most repremanded
That’s insane
I don't understand, so is the most i can get is a years worth? I'm applying under my dad and i was disabled since i was 18 in 2016 and have evidence for that and even the way the judge talked made it sound possible i can be paid all these years under my father but not under mine cause i ain't insured far enough
Is there any answer on this or is this a wait and see situation?
So i basically wasn't able to apply for social security, basically till december 2019 but I'm on a 2nd case cause i didn't appeal my first case cause of depression and it was hard to do stuff during 2020 but i remade my 2nd case till sometime that year and they can see that
So you're telling me that no matter what, i can only go back 12 months for pay no matter if my onset day is december 2019 or august 2016? That's a lot of money to lose, especially if I'm only getting hundreds and not thousands for my monthly payment
All of this stuff is confusing
Like is it different since I'm trying to get is the 12 month rule only for regular ssa? I'm just trying to understand what i can fight for
I remembered 30yrs back I had an issue with my employer(Federal Government)and was on leave without pay and I filed for assistance and was told once I get back to work I will have to pay back every dime back.I pay taxes and you have immigrants who get assistance and never have to pay a penny back.Bullshit!!
I totally understand your point
I hope you have now.
Are auxiliary payments issued separately from primary SSDI lump sum retro payment?
Yes- Elle
@@TheDisabilityDigest thank you
Can you get retroactive pay and no back pay
Based on my understanding they are the same
I was electrocuted in june 2001 burned 55% of my body working on a billboard.

They told me that they are trying to figure out how much I am going to be getting back in back pay
We are going into November now. Do you know if it will be much longer?
Generally, it takes 3-5 months to get a decision. However, the exact time depends on how long it takes to get your medical records and any other evidence SSA needs to make a decision. The time it takes to get a decision on your disability application can vary depending on:
The nature of your disability;
How quickly we can get your medical evidence from your doctor or other medical source;
Whether it is necessary to send you for a medical examination; and
Whether we review your application for quality purposes.
Did you ever receive your backpay ? If so how long after approval did it take to receive?
So both Ssi and sssi have the 5 month waiting period?
I do not know about SSI
It depends on the case. They have to find somebody to assign to it to even process everything
Amazing
Thanks!
If you are owed monies it is worth a try to get it. No guarantees

Social security will let you down...heartless
- Brian
@@TheDisabilityDigest I was approved for SSDI and denied SSI, will I still get my back pay?
Approved??

Thank You
I don't know if they will honor it
I was approved October 27 2022 I received a fully favorable decision in the mail about a week ago how long will it take then to call me to get the ball rolling
@@shawnprince8352 first make sure you call Social Security and make sure that they have the correct up-to-date phone number for you you should receive a letter that tells you when your phone call will be but always call and check because I never received the letter when I was approved saying my phone call was at this time and I missed the phone call thank God I called the very next day because they did not have the correct phone number for me
@@shawnprince8352 once I was approved the following month they started my payments and I got my first payment for back pay one of three payments if you're getting SSD you will get all your back pay at once they only pay up to 2 years back at this point doesn't matter when you applied if you got approved for SSI your back pay will be paid in three increments if it's SSD will get it all at once
Question I've been waiting on a back pay it's been in the overpayment center since November 8th they told me on November 11th that I was going to get it by November 28th if you have a overpayment on your account can't you still receive your back pay
You forgot to tell people the lawyers get a cut of your money!
So angry after 3 years 2 attorneys i get 2 months ssi and then ssdi 2 months later and zero back pay.

I Applied back in 2016 Denied Appealed in Supreme Court? Still pending Reapplied again in 2018 its 2024 Approved? I should get a Decent amount?
I understand that the process of applying for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) can be quite complex and lengthy. It's great to hear that you've been approved in 2024 after reapplying in 2018.
As for the amount of back pay you should receive, it's difficult for me to provide a specific figure as it depends on various factors, including your work history, the severity of your disability, and the date your disability began.
However, I can share some resources that might help you understand the process better. You might find it helpful to watch these videos:
"Should You Appeal Your Disability Award" - ua-cam.com/users/shortss2dglREXfm4
"How Mike appealed his disability award and collected $19 K more" - ua-cam.com/video/G4RCGiYsnJU/v-deo.html
These videos can provide some insights into the appeal process and how it might affect the amount of benefits you receive. Remember, every case is unique, and these are just examples.
