I am new to this. I had a very positive experience with my mental status exam for SSDI this morning. I just wanted to share in case others were scared of the exam like me. I did not want to have to relive traumatic experiences from my military service. She did not make me do that, and was very encouraging and understanding. It was actually one of the better mental health visits I have had in my life. I don’t know the outcome of my claim yet however, I was just very relieved that the mental status exam in itself was not traumatic. My psychologist was out of Indianapolis. I am diagnosed with PTSD & Anxiety Disorder (service connected.) Blessings in this process to all! 🙏🏼🙏🏼
I am on SSI for major depression. Took me 3 years so i had to get a lawyer. I do try to work but its only on weekend. An i am scared to be around a large group of people.
My brother is a disabled veterans who was overseas when 9-11 happened. He has PTSD, anxiety and depression. He masked for a long time. Until 2029 when there was a school shooter at his middle school. He blacked out and had a panic attack. Lost his teaching job after 13 years. He was never late. Never had a write up or anything. Part of his FMLA and long term disability through the school district was to apply for SSDI. He did, he has been denied twice. Since the school shooting, he dies not leave his home. He goes to counseling at the VA weekly. They have him on alot of drugs to try to get him to sleep. He is paranoid. I have seen his medical records and they are volumes. His mental health records are very detailed. Even his lawyers said they have never seen a disabled veteran get denied SSDI with problems that severe. Not to mention his injuries to his neck, back and nerve damage in his arms. If our veterans are pissed on by the SSA, what hope dies the average citizen have?
I'm truly sorry to hear about the immense challenges your brother is facing. It sounds incredibly frustrating and disheartening, especially after his years of service and dedication. It’s unjust that he's been denied the support he clearly needs. Please know that there are still avenues to appeal and organizations that specialize in supporting veterans in these situations. I hope your brother can receive the recognition and assistance he deserves soon.
Brian is a life saver! Thanks so much for all your info. Sorry I have been MIA, my entire household was afflicted by this Respiratory Virus, and I got it last. I am still sick as a dog. I will reach out soon. Peace (Jewell)
I am new .. so I found you so slowly trying to do this for my ptsd . So thanks for doing this . Hard to work now and my job is being taken away slowly making it to hard to get other employment .
My husband has received disability since 2005 and recently had to fight to get it back after it was taken away. However when it was pre-approved it was said that he no longer qualified for supplemental security income stating he was not disabled enough yet was deemed permanently disabled by a judge in 05'. Can you shed some light on this.
@melissaboswell516 I see you posted this message about a month ago, so not sure you will see this. I am not a part of the disability digest; however, they do represent me for my current disability case & I do a lot of reading. Brian would probably need a little bit more info. If your husband is at retirement age, it should automatically change over to SSI (I think) from ssdi at age 65. I know some benefits can be gotten at age 62 but not sure what they are. If he's close to either of those ages, then I would contact your local office and ask them to be sure. That's the only reason that I can think that they would say he was no longer eligible unless a doctor sent something into them stating you were no longer disabled. I do know that if while you are on disability and don't keep going to the doctor and keep up with treatment, they can take away your benefits when they review him after so many years. Has he filled out any forms recently? I joined a forum and I hear people talk about CDR's all the time (I think this stands for continued disability review). If he filled out forms and hasn't been to the doctor in the past few years, that could be why, but more info is needed. Contact Brian at www.thedisabilitydigest.com and he should be able to help. It's free to join and he has live videos with chat enabled every Wednesday and they have a Q & A after. I hope this helps. Good luck!
I was diagnosed with Severe Depression and Anxiety Attacks in 2019. I'm on two medications. It's been very hard to focus on reading, writing and understanding. I'm constantly worrying about losing my benefits. My conditions make it hard to get general things done- basic routine daily things.

I need this but I feel like I would get denied and be stuck in my current situation forever. I have a job. I work from home. I hate it. I'm alone. I am 52, hate living. I suffer from depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADD. I can't function without medication. And with medication, I still have issues. I feel lost every day.
I would say apply cause it takes at lleast 3 yrs social security wants at least 2 yrs of medical records i have read all i can in regards to mental health for my daughter....she had many things happend to her in a very short time l...i got sick i was unable to homeschool her brother and her because of it...then she lost her only grandmother that she was very close to then she lost her dog that she had since she was little then her dad had to work 2 jobs in order to afford our house payments...we could not keep up with the house payments because of me being sick and not bringing in any money so we had to move out of the house she grew up in so we moved when she had just turned 14 while we were driving to our new state cause it was all we can afford...then once we moved out of state her only grandfather died so we had to go all the way back for the funeral and at the same time we had to sell her grandparents home that she would spend all holidays at once we took care of all that her father gets diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer and was in the hosptial for a week.....mind u this was going on during her 15th bday dad is still getting treatment for cancer after this covid hit ...her older brother and sister caught covid and it was at the beginning when there was no vaccine she started this endness obsession of washing her hands all the time to the point of bleeding she wont go out in public has much now that covid is down a little she is the only teenager i know who does not talk on the phone r text anyone unless its me or her dad to ask for something to eat or buy. ..the only therapy they had at this time was video therapy which she would not do we finally found a therapist who would see her in person which put her on 5 different medications that did not work and had bad side effects like her sleeping pattern that with her major depression has taken over her life all of this we have documented with the doctors and therapist because social security needs to see this all written down and has to be going on for at least 2 yrs records....so my advice to u is to apply and expect to get denied the first and second phase we are going to a hearing with the judge in novermber so i may update after then just wanted to give a little of what we are dealing with.....with social sercurity for depression OCD PTSD and anxiety
I wish i had known about this channel a few months ago, i went through this exact exam and my social security lawyer was not helpful in helping me prepare. Being a vet with a 100% rating just in PTSD i assumed he thought it was going to be a cake walk... smh i plan on applying again.

I have paranoia schizophrenia., Autistic, bipolar, ptsd, anxiety. Why do I need to go to a ssi dr if they can just check my therapist and psychiatrist records .? I’m going through process now . The disability determination lady said I can do the dr exam on video since I’m not comfortable going in person since I get triggered with new people
Trying to get approved. In front of judge. Been denied 2xs. I don't know if my attorney is doing anything about this. So thank you for your help. Need disability pointers.
Very good information here! For me, the pandemic has really impacted the process of being evaluated and seeking treatment. Because of my health issues that the long term Prednisone use has caused, I seem to be passed over or refused care. No PCP wants to take me on as a new client because of the naglagence of my PNP. When the psych evaluation was scheduled by SSA, it was a zoom meeting. The zoom app failed to keep the connection so the psych Dr. Said that SSA would need to reschedule. They did not and used it as part of the reason for denial. 🤦🏻♀️ Grrr. If I could return back to the university, I would pick up my political science major and fight this lack of proper P and P. It's uncomprehendable how the SSA has been allowed to continue to conduct it's "services" , or lack there of, for so long; without adaptive changes to address the lack of streamlining it's checks and balances process. Absolutely Unexceptionable ‼️

The consultative exam for my mental health resulted in a level 4 severe diagnosis and she plainly stated that I couldn`t be a normal reliable employee. But I`m also being treated for bad problems with my neck that can`t be fixed and chronic pain. So the judge leaned toward the grid rules....11th grade education, age 54 & 10 months, and no real work history, plus two 28 day inpatient mental health related hospital stays and suicide attempts. I`m being treated for schizoaffective disorder, depression, anxiety, and social isolation, plus chronic pain. But in 2023 Social Security, who denied me benefits until I went to a hearing, gets to decide if I keep my SSI. So my anxiety and mental health condition is amplified by constant worry about this, how I will get to dr visits each month, and what will happen to me. I have a camper, some solar power, and live on a very isolated rural family lot far from stores in an area with no cell phone signal. So my biggest fear is losing SSI and having no way to communicate or order food with a food card. I would have to survive off the land. So I`m trying to get the tools needed to have a fighting chance if that happens.

I have my hearing august 15..i have had an attorney since june 2021. I have had one 20 minute phone meeting with my attorney on july 11. Thats it. Tomorrow i am going to his office with a list of questions i have no idea to answer. Even when i called to see if being on state food stamps would help or hurt me..lime what should i do. The paralegal said for me to do whatever i felt best. It was my decision..excuse me..can i fire my lawyer...they have done absolutely nothing. I had to gather all my medical records..the new ones for this hearing. I feel i would have been better researching and depwnding on myself..instead i felt that the professional knows best..if the judge asks me tuesday the 15th why i stopped foos stamps can i say because i didnt know what to do and my lawyers advice was to do what i felt right..wtf.,this is real..i am not kidding

My daughters husband's sister is bi polar. She's been hospitalized 3 times. On meds. But they turned her down 2 times now. I would think that she would be eligible.
Both times are always denied, thats normal, What she needs to do now its get a disability lawyer which would take her to the 3rd level infront of a Judge and most likely she would get it but is not a guarantee but she needs to be represented, A lawyer would not charge you anything but he would get 5% of her back pay which is worth it!!! Also if she has an extended medical record of bipolar that would be good.
Well, in the state of California they approve everybody I’ve heard and I’m not being political, but I’ve heard that red states are a little bit harder and blue states are really easy to get disability. I could be wrong, but I did have a family member that was in a red state that was told no three times moved to California and on the first try got the check.
I've been waiting 5 years..I've seen the judge and she sent me to another 2 doctors said she couldn't help me if I didn't go so I went two months back and waiting for the verdict so to say ,but among a long list I have Complex PTSD,server anxiety of course depression and insomnia..that's some of the worse,I hangout with no one because I trust no one..but regardless of how bad of you are they don't want to pay if there's any chance you will keep a job or able to work ..good luck I know it's rough even if I don't get approved I hope you guys have good luck!
@@TheDisabilityDigest yeah crazy road ,had and attorney Morgan and Morgan they dropped me due to me calling every two months to see what's going on and they lack information and motivation on the case but yeah a lot of things has changed the judge at first acted as if she was going to deny it but then changed and said she needed something more recent, which I understand...anyway I appreciate the videos and I'll definitely be watching more .Thanks!
Can I sign up for the newsletter if I’m the daughter of someone in need of disability? My mom has been trying to get disability for over 2 years and I’m now believing that she can’t do it without my help. Early onset Alzheimer’s, depression, anxiety
I know this is an old video. And I have asked you this question before, and you replied. But I forgot whst I was told. I live in Georgia. I’ve had 3 back surgeries. I have metal braces and a plastics and spring type spacers in my back, 3 compressed neck discs, chronic kidney stones for over 10 yrs. Broke all my fingers twice , broke my rotator cuff, bones in my feet. On top of that I had cancer in 2002 and I’m a survivor however the radiation treatments have caused me sickness. I’ve been to the nurologist I’ve had CT scans on my brain. Now I have to have an eeg. Once I have that my nurologist can tell me what’s wrong with my brain I hope. I’m possibly having mini seizures. But they have to rule things out because I’m diagnosed bi polar, depression, anxiety and ptsd. And I’ve had this diagnosis before it was cool to have a mental disorder. I suffer from stuttering I can ramp up and talk constantly, or sleep all day. I think I was diagnosed back in 2013. - my question is. Where do I apply for disability ? And afterwards can you guys maybe help me. I’ve been out of work for over a year now since June 2023. I’ve been bed ridden. I only go out to go to the dr. Cause believe me when it rains my joints hurt and when it’s cold. I promise you I can feel the metal in my body and can’t stand up straight. I am 46 yrs old. I’ve gained 30lb or more because of being in the bed. But it’s a pain in the ass to hold myself up with a Cain cause my right leg suffered so much nerve damage to that leg that’s why I had to have my last back surgery. And it helped but now it’s coming back and it gives out. My wife is a nurse and she tells me I need to use a walker , but to hell with that. I was out of work and I received a 17 month lump sum payment from ssdi back in 2017-18. Because I was out of work and have many surgeries and my uncle helped me apply for disability over the phone. But honestly my memmory gets worse everyday. That’s another reason I’m going to the drs. I’m literally forgetting stuff that I should know. But I haven’t been able to go to all the dr appointments required due to transportation, money insurance problems. Any how will you please send a link to where I fill out for disability in Georgia. Because I can’t keep living off of no income anymore. My wife is out of work but she does makes close to nothing. I lost everything. I hate to admit all of this and put it out there. For everyone to read. But I need help and prayers. Oh my eye site sux and I lost half my hearing in one ear. I got an ear infection so bad that it grew mold. Like wrf. I bought a camera that goes in your ear and it connects to your phone. And my God the stuff I had to pull out of my ear haunts me still. I saved the videos butbi do not watch them. - oh I’m seeking disability for my back fyi. The rest is just to paint a picture of my life. And pain doesn’t just go away when you sleep. It’s constantly there. I hate when people have never experienced real pain but they are experts on what you should or shouldn’t take and what you should or shouldn’t do. Because if they have ever suffered I promise you they would think differently. Hate is a strong word so I’m sorry. But pain doesn’t take time off. It only makes sleeping more challenging.

The mental health interviews that I have had consist of a man, a small uncomfortable office and five minutes of him reading off a sheet of paper and making check marks. This same man has worked there for years. It's a company that my state uses for disability claims. How can I ask for someone different this time?
Mine asked me if I was currently looking for someone to kill my ex? WTF I had to ask him to please repeat his question. I had my brother with me the entire time. I told the Doctor Absolutely NOT! He said, "OK, we are finished." I said, "No! I need you to have all of the information for SSA!" I was told to please leave, so I did. Take someone with you and don't expect much. Good luck!
I don’t care if anyone sees all the issues that I have, but I have bipolar disorder one, six herniated disc three that are located in my neck and it causes a lot of pain and three and in my lower lumbar spine and because of the neck issue I was diagnosed also With spinal stenosis, I also have severe acid reflux disease, stomach ulcers to be specific They are peptic ulcers, and there are two of them, I suffer from endometriosis stage four, I’ve had a full hysterectomy, but ever since that happened for some reason when I need to use the bathroom for number two and I’m not trying to be gross in any sort of way I get severely impacted And I have two choices emergency room which the pain was so bad from what they did that I can’t handle going there, so I always have to have gloves so I can evacuate that area and it’s so bad. It causes a lot of bleeding which gives me chronic anemia, I also have chronic vitamin D deficiency, tachycardia which is the irregular heartbeat, and I’ve had these issues for the past 10 + years and I’ve been getting worse over the years. I don’t take painkillers except for over-the-counter stuff, tiger balm, and one medication my doctor/psychiatrist but he’s a neuro- psychiatrist he gave me Suboxone. He said I would never survive just on over-the-counter medication’s. You’ll go right back to using opiate medication to maintain your pain so It’s best if you’re on something not so strong where you’re not getting stoned basically which is, I have anxiety, very high cholesterol, I do have some issues on PTSD due to something that happened when I was much younger, chronic sinusitis, so basically, I’m in pain a lot of the time and I just try to suck it up and deal with it but it’s very difficult And I used to have a great job and I used to be someone but now I’m not I work Uber only when I can because the stenosis has caused my left arm to get Kinda numb in certain areas and my fingertips so driving is dangerous if I’m in extra pain or numbness that day due to the stenosis And it’s probably a pinched nerve and I’ve had over a dozen medical surgeries. I have no uterus no ovaries no part of my reproductive system due to the endometriosis it almost destroyed my colon. I have no gallbladder and no appendix due to the endometriosis as well. I’ve already had shingles when I was only 28 years old, and now I’m 41 years old and people are telling me that I’m gonna be denied if I try to get disability and I get younger to go to work but I don’t think people get painful. my existence is so I thought I would say what I would say about my health to find out if there is a shot at all that I could possibly get disability and I’m educated, I went to college. I have a bachelors and a masters degree and I was once a special education teacher, but I endured a lot of injuries at that job breaking up fights because I worked in terrible dangerous neighborhoods in the projects of New York City. I don’t regret what I did because I loved the kids and the parents, but I regret not reporting staff for not helping me when things would happen and I regret not reporting principals that used me, and in the end didn’t give a damn about me and I was a loyal teacher. I was a good teacher and I actually gave a shit about everything I did but I just couldn’t do it anymore so I think the last time officially that I worked was January maybe early February 2017. do you think if I apply that I’ll need a lawyer or that I stand a chance at any help from the government for Disability or even welfare of some sort? I’m currently on Medicaid and United healthcare. Thank you and I hope you’re able to read this and let me know…… Tysm 😔💜 Baby
I'm truly sorry to hear about the numerous health challenges you're facing. It sounds like you've been through a lot, and I can understand how overwhelming it must be. Based on the extensive list of medical conditions you've shared, it seems like you could potentially qualify for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI). The Social Security Administration (SSA) evaluates disability claims based on the severity of the condition and its impact on your ability to perform substantial gainful activity. Given the complexity of your case, it might be beneficial to consider getting a representative or an attorney to help you with your application. They can guide you through the process, help gather the necessary medical evidence, and represent you in case of an appeal. Do you know what you need to do? Be yourself with the borderline personality disorder show let them write you up in HR…. they can’t fire you let them see your diagnosis actually bring a note from the doctor yourself. Don’t try to be somebody or not and if you get fired and then use that to get your disability approved… You’re covered by the American disabilities act at work you don’t need to hide who you are.. I know this I am bipolar and I go crazy all the time :)
I have applied for disability. I have lots of issues from COPD, CHF but mainly its my mental illnesses that is keeping me from work Major Depression, PTSD along with others. Well I'm done with all their exams and about A month ago I spoke with the lady that is working on my case. I went to tell her about my therapy and she stopped me and said. They don't need no more information because they have made a decision however they can't tell me yet because they didn't like the way the doctor worded a couple things and sent the doctor a letter asking him to change his wording and once he get the report back to them they will get ahold of me and let me know what they decided. So hoping that's a good sign because legally I don't they shouldn't be able and have reports changed but then again who knows? Has anyone had this experience with them and what was the outcome. I'm thinking o may call them again today and see if they can give me an update. It's almost a year and half from when I applied. October of 2021 was when they started the review process.
I'm new I'm actually curious as to how I can contact you without UA-cam I guess is what I'm trying to do I was getting disability for over 20 years since 2004 during covid they shut it off with no notice to me I ended up evicted after 7 years of being at the same address. I ended up homeless with a child and a cat staying in a motel tell my son survivor benefits and my disability checks were spent 1886.00 between his survivor benefits and my disability, almost 500 a week certainly doesn't last. Long story shorter I'm still homeless and I have reapplied more than 2 years ago and they denied me I got an attorney that was worthless my last check was check was March 3rd 2021. Kind of hard to get housing with no income.
Hi, I have a *QUESTION* I hope you get to see it. I’ve been on disability for more than 10 years, I’m 59 years old. I have anxiety, panic attacks, depression, went through a period of agoraphobia, PTSD. I was awarded disability in NY. I’ve been in treatment since before I was awarded. I’ve been in Florida, for 4 years, and my agoraphobia has started again. I got a call from SSDI for a review, which I did. I’m curious as to why I’d be reviewed after 11-12 years, and will be 60 next month ?
About 20 % of disability recipient are reviewed annually now. To learn more watch this video about what Biden budget CDR projections are ua-cam.com/video/w2I6ZxryPNA/v-deo.html
@@TheDisabilityDigest Hi ! I never had a review, just a letter saying I was good. I really appreciate your help, and all the great information, and resources you have for us.

I have severe OCD, depression and anxiety. All I have done is go to work for 26 years. I am now 59 and cannot keep going. I have sought treatment several times but stopped due to intolerance or fear of medication or anxiety to do things the counselor wants that contaminate. As I have gotten older, it is much more difficult to get through each day and now i have suicidal thoughts to keep from being homeless or working and living forever like this. I also have back pain and injury and in a job that will likely reinjure it. What can i do?
Hi, typically it starts 5 months after the onset date determined by Social Security. To learn more about Disability Benefit Steps And Approval Expectations, please watch this video www.thedisabilitydigest.com/set-your-disability-approval-expectations/.
Is it always necessary to have attorney represent for filing for disability? I think I may be able to fill out the paperwork but didn't know if it was ALWAYS necessary? BTW, thank you for providing all the help you do.
I could not even imagine not getting a lawyer! I got mine after my second denial and my lawyer along with my doctor helped me get approved! My recommendation for every one its to get one. They only charge you after they win the case. They get about 5% of your back pay and its worth it.
i dont even leave home just go to smal town grocery store early in morrning when no one there back been that why since i was little kid due to ibs ,anxiety and mager learing disabity all my classes in school was special ed couldnt even have passed that if teachers didnt basicly give me ansers cant hardly spell or read mush cant even go any were away from home even in my own car if by my self got to have someone with me i trust never seen doctor tho due to going to them just causes me more anxiety make me worse so i cant work or get ssi i go see doctor if they needed me to but going flared my ibs up from stresse

I included my Depression dx (along w my physical impairments) on my original application, and it is well documented in my medical records from my gp. And my lawyer has included it in her letters to them. But yet in the 2 yrs since I applied, they never sent me to thier mental health dr... unless the one they sent me to (twice now) for the physical issues is the same for mental... but I don't remember him qsating anything about my depression either time I saw him. I was always the one who had to bring up my depression to him.
If I am already on SSI and have SSI disability but not SSDI I am legally blind... I have mental health challenges can I be put on SSDI along with my SSI for the mental health
Hello. I was approved for disability back in 2018. Evidently it was time for a review. And there was a hearing on February the 5th. It was denied. How does this work If we want to hire you all if we live in a different city and state? Is it best just to get someone local to go before the administrative law judge? Thank you.
Hey Brian I wanted to ask you I had applied with mental health I have been diagnosed and treated for 15-20 years still in treatment got denied every time and I had covid was put on a ventilator almost died and I got it but I was forced you up my back pay which was significant so I have supplemental security and I get $940 some right now can you tell me if there's any way I can do anything about that thank you autumn
I was diagnosed with ADHD as a child. As a adult I've been diagnosed with ADHD, PTSD, depression, anxiety and OCD. I haven't been to see a doctor in years, do I have to start seeing my doctor again before I can apply for disability benefits? Or is it enough that it's all on file from the past years?
Hello, could you please provide a link for the mental health document that in this video. I want to provide this document to my doctor to fill out for my disability claim.
I have applied for vision related aphakia and deteriorating vision in my left eye. Applied also for state Medicaid and the medicaid examiner puts me under disabled per blue book. Only option is surgery in right eye due to lack of puipil iris and lens from injury in 2007. Worked enough credits for SSDI and am only 46 years old. Also have anxiety and depression from my deteriorating vision. Being treated for both. What's the likelihood of possibly being approved?
I’m 32 years old and have been suffering from fairly advanced gout for over a decade. I’m at the point now where I can’t use my hands or walk for more than 5 minuets at a time. I’m finally at the place where I can admit that this is debilitating and it’s ok to admit I can’t do the things I used to. I feel like I’ve only made it worse by forcing myself to continue to work. I wish Id started this process years ago..
So I’ve been diagnosed with bipolar for about 5 years, and medicated for it for just as long… I’ve been hospitalized for it, I see a therapist, I do everything I should… but I still cannot function normally, and keeping a job is out of the question… I’m only 19 and I dropped out because of my disorders- I think I’d get approved since I barely have any work experience and the fact that I had to drop out and be hospitalized… and I’ve been receiving treatment for 5 years at least… I’m just nervous about the exam part… is that part required? Couldn’t they just look at my history?
I'm sorry to hear about the challenges you've been facing with bipolar disorder. It sounds like you've been managing it as best as you can. When applying for Social Security Disability Benefits, your medical history, including hospitalizations and ongoing treatment, will be crucial. The exam helps ensure all current information is considered, but your documented history is very influential. It's normal to feel nervous, but your thorough medical records are a strong foundation for your application.
@@TheDisabilityDigest When I had a global mental health assessment done six months ago, the Dr said I had the worst score he had ever seen in one of the areas. I believe it was cognitive/memory related. He said it fit the criteria to be “severe” rating but that he was going to put it as the one that was a little “better” instead. (Aka not showing it’s as severe of an impairment) What would you suggest I do regarding that situation when it comes to applying and medical docs etc. Should I request Dr rate it appropriately with the “severe” and if so, how the heck would I word that request? 😮

I understand your concerns about returning to work while receiving disability benefits. The Social Security Administration (SSA) has programs in place to help individuals transition back to work while still receiving benefits. One such program is the Ticket to Work program, which provides employment support services to people aged 18 through 64 who receive Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI). The program is designed to help you maintain your benefits while you transition to the workforce. Additionally, the SSA has work incentives that allow you to keep your benefits while you test your ability to work. For example, during a trial work period, you can receive full SSDI benefits while still earning an income. However, it's important to understand that there are limits to how much you can earn while receiving SSDI benefits, and working could potentially affect your benefit amount. For more information about working while receiving disability benefits, I recommend watching this video: ua-cam.com/video/AoZ-M1iEovo/v-deo.html.
Yes... I did that. My attorney handled everything. My SSD was for Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, ADD, Autoimmune disorders, Lichen Planus, Psoriatic Arthritis, Asthma I have been on SSD since 2009 and they review your case every 2 years. They send you a form to fill out and then you have mail it back to them. They will send you a letter , and in my case, they have never sent me to their Doctors. But I actually informed them that I have a few more health issues.
I'm really sorry to hear about the challenges you're facing. Living with a brain injury and mental health conditions like anxiety and clinical depression can be incredibly tough. It's important to remember that you're not alone, and there are resources available to help you navigate these challenges. As you're already receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI), you're likely familiar with some aspects of the Social Security system. However, if your condition has worsened or if you have additional questions about your benefits, it might be helpful to review some of the resources we have available. The Disability Digest provides a wealth of information on various topics related to disability benefits. For instance, we have resources that can help you understand how to maintain your benefits, what to do if your condition worsens, and how to navigate the system if you need additional support. What if i cant afford to go the doctor in the first place? That's a very large reason why i need the disability benefits, i dont know what to do anymore, but i sure can't hold down a full time job... i am struggling now with part time, i have no living relatives, i am screwed...
@DevonDrive-vv7wp I tried- without any children, apparently I can't get Medicaid. I did call and try to find out. I am literally screwed, far as I can tell. Not going to have a child I can't take of just for medical benefits. Welcome to America...

Does a person with a severe case of Lupus, medical records, hospitalized for flares, extreme fatigue, retention issues, neuropathy, bed ridden, weakness. If said person is short of work credit for SSDI, will they get SSDI and SSI combined if over age 50. Does this help override the work credit problem due to severity of disabilities and age?

I have a son who is 25 and is autistic and has been diagnosed as bipolar and schizophrenic with dillusional and hallucinating thought patterns we have been going thru the social security disability process for over a year and he has been admitted to a psychiatric hospital 7 times in last 2 years and every time social security process starts over he doesnt know he is crazy and believes he is god he is also paralyzed in his midsection internally he can walk but he has to straight cath and manually evacuate his bowels and walks around 24 hours a day talking to his voices in his head but how do you get someone who thinks they are fine to actually tell a social security physiatrist what his problems really are he takes vraylar and has a appointment August 5 for a psych evaluation with social security.
I'm truly sorry to hear about the challenges your son is facing. It sounds like you're dealing with a lot right now. When it comes to the Social Security Disability evaluation process, it's crucial to provide comprehensive medical evidence that clearly demonstrates how his conditions limit his ability to work. This includes medical records, doctors' notes, and possibly statements from people who know him and can attest to his struggles. In your son's case, it might be helpful to accompany him to his appointments and provide additional information about his condition and daily struggles. You could also consider seeking the help of a disability advocate or representative who can guide you through the process and ensure that all necessary information is presented effectively. For more information on how to prepare for a disability exam, you can watch this video: ua-cam.com/video/CTGDOosUzAg/v-deo.html. Hope this helps!

I have cerebral palsy, brain damage, chronic pain, bilateral leg\foot deformities and other physical disabilities that are birth defects. These life long ongoing disabling conditions began when I was born and will be with me until I die. There is no treatment for cerebral palsy, mobility issues, inability to balance and other deficits associated with my organic brain damage\deformities. Cerebral palsy is not like diabetes where doctors can give medications to improve quality of life. Yet you say Social Security denies benefits if, not "in treatment." How does "treatment" resolving my life long disabling conditions? Some of what you say makes no sense at all. Some disabilities by their nature are permanent!

Good luck!

Keep her case active a seek an SSI Lawyer. It took me 6 years to get my benefits. If she lets the case close she will have to start over.

I appreciate that. Thanks for the feedback, Richard.
I am going tomorrow
The mental health interviews that I have had consist of a man, a small uncomfortable office and five minutes of him reading off a sheet of paper and making check marks. This same man has worked there for years. It's a company that my state uses for disability claims. How can I ask for someone different this time?
I have heard this from others ... thanks for the contribution

I have not had that happen. I would definitely call them, since its been a month.

Hello, Brenda. Give us a call and one of the advocates will reach you back ASAP.
Apply for benefits and take care of yourself.
Take care of yourself 🙏
The problem is we have to survive for too long. Human lifespan is long, and we end up homeless.
When does back pay start from? Date of application or a date determined by someone?
Hi, typically it starts 5 months after the onset date determined by Social Security.

Is it always necessary to have attorney represent for filing for disability? I think I may be able to fill out the paperwork but didn't know if it was ALWAYS necessary? BTW, thank you for providing all the help you do.
It is not necessary but very helpful in communicating your limitations
I could not even imagine not getting a lawyer! I got mine after my second denial and my lawyer along with my doctor helped me get approved! My recommendation for every one its to get one. They only charge you after they win the case. They get about 5% of your back pay and its worth it.

Thank you for the clarity.

Hello.
I was approved for disability back in 2018. Evidently it was time for a review. And there was a hearing on February the 5th. It was denied. How does this work If we want to hire you all if we live in a different city and state? Is it best just to get someone local to go before the administrative law judge?
Thank you.

I appreciate your admission
So I’ve been diagnosed with bipolar for about 5 years, and medicated for it for just as long… I’ve been hospitalized for it, I see a therapist, I do everything I should… but I still cannot function normally, and keeping a job is out of the question… I’m only 19 and I dropped out because of my disorders-
I think I’d get approved since I barely have any work experience and the fact that I had to drop out and be hospitalized… and I’ve been receiving treatment for 5 years at least…
I’m just nervous about the exam part… is that part required? Couldn’t they just look at my history?
I'm sorry to hear about the challenges you've been facing with bipolar disorder. It sounds like you've been managing it as best as you can. When applying for Social Security Disability Benefits, your medical history, including hospitalizations and ongoing treatment, will be crucial. The exam helps ensure all current information is considered, but your documented history is very influential. It's normal to feel nervous, but your thorough medical records are a strong foundation for your application.
Thank you so much for explaining this because I don,'t please . i want your help please
Excellent video! Thanks so much I've learned much 😊

I got a service dog to help. Then the pigs discriminated against me badly. Then footage of it went viral. Then right wing anti ada bullies wrecked my life. And I'm still crazy af

Damn hope you’re doing better ….
Social security said I cannot get it because I don't have work credits but I have stage 4 cancer
Social security is evil 😢😡
You might not be able to get Ssdi but you definitely qualify for SSI. Many people get a disability check and never worked a day in this country.i suggest you investigate that.
Do home work with computer. Pay into SS. Might not have enough quarters, but in the saddle, pay in.
@@sds4life17 Eligibility for SSI depends on assets and income.
😢so sorry you are going through so much!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼

Your intro is too long
This is why social security is in trouble now
Thank God it's there. As a nurse who got severely ill at 61, I paid in to it all my life.
what because people are getting educated?!?
You try living on less than $950 per month, with NO other resources. Then come whining about wasted resources. Or maybe you just see us as a waste of space?😡
@@Nurse876good for you You deserve it
@@TawrosetI tell you what. I am tired of paying taxes and watching my money being pissed away to people who want to freeload through life. I am not saying you because I don’t know your situation
I have an appointment coming up. Medically retired from the Army after 24 years of service this year due to Multiple Sclerosis....I have also been diagnosed with combat related PTSD (several comabt tours in Iraq and Afghanistan) The Multiple Sclerosis has also been giving me a fit as well....not only physically but mentally as well. There are several days that one minute I'll be laughing and the next crying....its been a pain in the a$$. I tried to work after I was medically retired....had a really awesome job however, I couldn't keep up or even stay at work long enough to maintain the job.
