Morrison was a very good fighter, he would have been a great fighter if he had trained properly all the time. But he was more interested in having a good time and paid dearly for it.
@@anthonyjames7965I was expecting a good fight. But Ray Mercer, let Tommy punch himself out, and just floored Tommy!! I believe it was, from his FU life style. Rip Tommy.
Excellent as always Mills Lane superb , this is the best I've seen Lenox Lewis fight, his body, his legs his jab he's so big it's amazing. Then that uppercut used Tommy's punch against him. It looked like he was very confident and wasn't going to let a white guy beat him. Also I had the great privlage of Meeting Emanuel Stewart he is a much better corner man basically one of the very best ever, ever. Tommy needed to catch him with a left but never was allowed to get off.
Lennox ushered in the era of big heavyweights, Tommy was big too but Lewis was at least 6' 5" Emanuel knows that styles make fights and he had Lennox fighting the perfect fight for Tommy. Tommy too worried about his left eye and didn't have enough dog in him to let it all hang out.
Think of the Lewis-Klitschko fight: if you could have replaced the 2003 Lewis with 1995 Lewis, it seems obvious that he would have gotten the win. His hand speed and footwork here are so much better, really no comparison.
Odd that Morrison or his corner didn't change tactics when their original plan was failing. What did Morrison have to lose by closing and staying closed to Lennox and fighting inside?
If Morrison who have not chose the wild party life - he would have been unstoppable! Best left hook in heavyweight history - IMO. At this point in his early career his body is already worn out beyond its former glory, and he is only mid-twenties here.
Agree...he didn't take care of himself but was really killing him here was not the lifestyle but HIV...he was already sick in 1995 and looked the part...a shell of himself ...a healthy Morrison would have given a better showing ...then this sick version of himself ....
In my point of view Tommy had to get a Mexican fighter adviser he was a great prospect for a great champion!! But he never looked for the wisdom of the boxing
Watching this entire fight for the first time I'm actually impressed with Morrison's performance. Lewis is one of the 10 best Heavyweight Champions of all time, and this was when he was really close to his peak. Lewis was just too fast, too accurate with his punches, and had too much of a reach advantage for Morrison to overcome. Lewis, conversely, did everything right here. This was a fighter with a great game plan and he executed it to perfection. Morrison's main weakness being his defense, he didn't stand a chance against an all time great like Lewis. And it wasn't like he couldn't have continued - he could have - but Mills Lane knew Morrison was taking a beating and just couldn't figure Lewis out, and was very possibly going to get hurt if it went too much farther. Good fight, though.
I really think Morrison was very similar to Tyson, in his exciting powerful style, but also his knock out rate coming up the ranks. I'm sure people on here will say Morrison was no match for Tyson, but when you really look at it, they were both impressive with knocking out lesser opponents quickly on their journey up the rankings, & then both got complacent with training & conditioning, until both coming up short against real skillful boxers who could keep them at arms length. Would have loved to see them come together when they were both hungry fighters.
Dude seriously. I like vitali(more than wladimir actually) and i get annoyed when I see people trying to use his loss against an out of shape lewis as a reason for him being better than Lewis lolol it makes no fucking sense

@Platano Power My lack of knowledge bitch I've been involved in the sport for over 30 yrs both as a fighter and trainer, Morrison was nothing more than the Great White Hype!
10:53 - that's why boxing coaches ALWAYS tell their fighters to either exit low, at an angle, while keeping your hands up; or to exit with a punch of your own. Jab while exiting.
I'm British BTW, I would rather watch morrison than Lewis any day I always found lennox over rated and boring, morrison was given a very poor review by the commentators he was fighting all the way to the end despite his eye
You can find Morisson more attractive to watch but Lewis is a little too much. This box fans generation seems to be confused.

Tommy had a very good career although it could have been better if his defence was more tight. Also his pace needed to be more controlled, he gassed out early. He had the power, speed, and offensive skills for sure. He also had heart. One of my favourite boxers.
Lennox was a top 10 all time heavyweight. No one could beat him when he was focused. He’d have taken Tyson apart in the late 90s and Mike knew it. That ass beating in 2002 was Mike facing the music.

Lewis was a great, tall jab fighter that also had power. A really tough opponent for the tough, shorter power punchers like Tyson and Morrison. A consumate pro. The heavyweight division was so strong in the 1990s, and competitive with Tyson's (slight) slippage in those days.
You blind?
Morrison wasn't really smaller, they almost matched in height.
@@Eysenbeiss You're the blind one, I met both fighters and I'm 6'2 1/2",Lewis is 6'5" and Tommy maybe 6'1" at best, but they weighed about the same! Tommy being shorter gave him a thicker appearance!
Tommy was a great fighter 👊 god rest him 😞
Luwis boksla alakası yok. Erkekçe dövüşen her zaman Tommydir.👆✌️🤟🥊🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷👈🤟✌️
It's very sad to think about what's up ahead for Tommy not long after this fight.
To bad tommmy. No shame buddy
I like Tommys Boxing style its like Iron Mike. Lennox fights the same style with Klitscho. They are great Boxers too but never gave the same fun to watch. Rest in Peace Tommy Morisson..
Cortez Armstrong Kinda was except he didn’t use the peek a boo style unless, he was setting up the left hook.
@Cortez Armstrong - I can think of 2 similarites. They both had great left hooks and both were dominated by the superior Lewis.
@Cortez Armstrong woooooooossshhhhhhh
PaschaAbi 2429 Did you just compare Morrison to Mike Tyson☹️☹️☹️.....how bizarre.......Morrison did not possess a rat’s nostril of the power and talent of Mike Tyson......Some of you’ll in this comment section are wearing huge capes for this guy and it really sounds ridiculous.
Hasani Jitu But, had a better record than Tyson, so.....
Yeah Mills Lane is the man in the ring he's "Firm but Fair"..
Terrific performance by Mills Lane...!
Tommy did better against an younger Lewis, than Tyson did years later, that's pretty impressive.
I'm not a pro about boxing but I think Lewis's height is his biggest advantage in any fight.
It must have been demoralizing
to fight Lewis , as he was so strong and huge . On top of that he was a very good fighter.
at te time, and era, my 2 favorite fighters, and Lewis really an awesome fighter with so much class
Hijos de la calienta
LL a great boxer awesome jab,to Tommy your better than I thought
Un de ces derniers combats pour Tommy...mais perso je le trouvais pas en forme ici, et là on voyait qu'il avait perdu en masse musculaire...RIP champion 🙋♂️
Always liked Lewis . Great fighter . Many other favourites too . Benn . Duran . Hearns .Breland . Starling .
@@Bb-pw1zi he beat every man he fought. Say no more.

I miss watching Mills Lane as referee good performance from Lennox Lewis.
2 great warriors, the ref is made the best call, protecting Tommy from permanent eye damage...
Imagine putting this Lennox Lewis into the mix in this era. He wouldn’t lose a single round or fight. Crazy
Real talk.
@lee frazer
Fury vs Lewis would be a very even match up.

No, sweetheart - gotta stay sober for your 16th birthday:) And I don't recall talking down to you...
That was quite the fracas, almost as enjoyable as the fight
Lennox Lewis would absolutely destroy Wilder or Fury
No contest
Fury is shite
I know we shouldn’t compare different eras but you’re 100% correct. Way more skilled
My thoughts exactly.he beat iron Mike almost as easily.
What could have been... God bless you Tommy!
In my opinion this fight was the beginning of Lennox Lewis's prime, the night he took his game to another level and definitely turned a corner. He was good before this fight, but during and after it he truly became one of the greatest. From this fight till the night Rahman knocked him out he was unstoppable for seven years.
Mills Lane best ref. ever. RIP Brother.
He's alive
I am guessing you meant the "RIP Brother" for Tommy Morrison, as Mills Lane is still alive and was a great ref.
muy alto, muy rapido y tenia un jag que te destrozaba, no le hacia falta ni ir a golpearle porque en cuento el luchado contrario se acercaba le metia un jag, lennox era un luchador increible, de lo mejores de la historia sin ninguna duda.
Morrison looked very weak. We now know why that was. I would have liked to see him succeed in boxing and life. RIP
Morisson is one of the best...salut to both fighters
Morrison was a very good fighter, he would have been a great fighter if he had trained properly all the time. But he was more interested in having a good time and paid dearly for it.
Definitely was a good fighter. I was unaware of him beating razor. So I went back and looked. He was the better fighter
Ray mercer put together a plan that I swore wasn't going to work, but it did let him tire himself out
I don’t think he would ever have been great he was decent at best
Too much fun in nightlife style! 😯
@@anthonyjames7965I was expecting a good fight. But Ray Mercer, let Tommy punch himself out, and just floored Tommy!! I believe it was, from his FU life style. Rip Tommy.
Tommy put up a good fight considering he could only see out of one eye! Respect where it's due.
Hmm looked like a a boy fighting a man. Looked like a cat playing with a mouse.
I p in my
Taking a beating is not putting up a good fight
J'aurais aimé voir un combat entre mauhamde Ali contre Lewis
This was Tommy's way to get one last big pay day, wasn't ever in the fight
Yep it was basically a sparring session for Lewis.
@@undeadpresident LMAOOO
Heard Lewis in an interview recently, its almost unbelievable that Tyson had taken his first loss before Lewis went Pro.
tyson would of destroyed lewis under kevin rooney
His Truth or cuss
@@histruth3157 not convinced. . .
@@histruth3157 Nope he wouldnt have and eventually when they met, one was almost killed. You know the rest
@@Johnballz83 lewis would not of been able to handle the speed or power of a prime tyson under cus or Rooney. Lewis had a glass jaw
Can't blame Morrison but no one could beat Lenox Lewis at his time
You mean no one at that time because the HW division was pathetic. Lewis isn't very near the top of best heavyweights ever.
@@timthompson8297 What are you talking about mate!? He beat all the top ones including Tyson and Holyfield
"Walk him down..." Lennox needs to give that coach the boot.
I totally forgot Morrison fought Lewis
Best Ref ever. Judge Mills Lane made it very clear who was officiating the fight, and more importantly the boxers listened to him
All usa possible hw champs are in the nba or nfl. Just the way it is this day n age
And let's not forget Lennox Lewis said that was hard as he's ever been hit and where did we hear that again merciless Ray Mercer
Льюис молодец, великий боец.... который записал на свой счёт победу над Тайсоном и Холифилдом
Good steroids too!!
I love them both. Tom got thimbed in the eye and fought with one eye during the end.
Odd that Morrison or his corner didn't change tactics when their original plan was failing. What did Morrison have to lose by closing and staying closed to Lennox and fighting inside?
Should of tried to rough him up. He can’t box so make it dirty on the inside and on the rope. OKKK
lewis dropped him twice with punches on the inside
Morrison showed true class by conceding.
When he found out he was hiv positive he was never the same. He could of been that while hope
He was hiv positive since the late 80's man, so he basically fought all of his career sick, but his major problem here was Lennox Lewis.
@Cortez Armstrong what's with the language Cortez...this is my opinion bitch ....
In my point of view Tommy had to get a Mexican fighter adviser he was a great prospect for a great champion!! But he never looked for the wisdom of the boxing
cachano7 true he had that crappy team of white guys lol always saying hit em with 2s and 7s lmao
Just too good Lenox, as much as I admire Tommy.
This version of Lewis could beat both wlad and vitally on the same night
Dude seriously. I like vitali(more than wladimir actually) and i get annoyed when I see people trying to use his loss against an out of shape lewis as a reason for him being better than Lewis lolol it makes no fucking sense
Z Boy because of a cheap cut to Vitali’s eye lid cause Lennox was Holding Vitali too much.
Z Boy Vitali’ would of lost an eye lid but Lewis was going to Lose his head. Headless Lewis. Just like ducked Vitali & retired 😂 what a coward.
@@IblewuponyourfaceIII haha Lewis was old and out of shape and still beat a young klitchco .... if that doesn't show how good he was nothing will .
Tommy Morrison had the biggest heart he would not give up true champion love that bloke
Tommy wasn't in his prime, great performance from Lewis though. Great respect, great fighter Tommy , one of my favorites. Boxing fans will always remember you, RIP bro
Man cut the bullshit, Lewis was 4 yrs older than Morrison! I don't care when they would've fought he could NEVER beat Lewis! You think Morrison who let a 10-1 Michael Bentt KO him ever beat Lewis, it shows your lack of Boxing knowledge!
@@shotgun517
Calm down bitch
@Platano Power My lack of knowledge bitch I've been involved in the sport for over 30 yrs both as a fighter and trainer, Morrison was nothing more than the Great White Hype!
In his prime he still would've lost to Lennox.
Rigens shyti you must be spoking crack Lennox in his prime would beat you and Tommy Morrison together
No one is more underrated than Lewis, I mean pseudo-expert Joe Rogan recently asked the strange question if Tyson Fury was the HW GOAT. By his logic Lewis doesn't even exist. This box fans generation seems to be confused.
Tommy the most overatted Roids BUM fighter ever 💯
@@tyronevaldez-kruger5313 I don't even regard fury as a boxer, he's champion in a pool of nobody's, put him back in 1990 to 1996 he would t even make the under card of that generations fighters
Tommy had a very good career although it could have been better if his defence was more tight. Also his pace needed to be more controlled, he gassed out early. He had the power, speed, and offensive skills for sure. He also had heart. One of my favourite boxers.
Oh please what career
52 fights,48 wins and a world title. If you think that's easy do it yourself.

8:09 No, Lamps, that was clearly not what Tommy said. He never mentioned his left hook. That's pretty silly right there.
