Great little kart project, I like how you kept it simple but mentioned adjusting the governor and changing the sprocket to keep the speed down. Thank you for taking the time to record this build.
Great build. I like the simplicity of it. Makes it look like a newbie welder like me could actually build it. In case anyone's curious and I missed it in the comments, I added up the cost to be around $500.00. I'm sure that will vary based on location (tax) and cost of steel in your area. I'm not trying to start any discussion on whether this is cheap or expensive, I just thought it would be helpful to know either way.
@@EliB0217Yeah true... he very quickly flashed it in the top right of the screen, and pretty easy to miss. So @marksadler877, here too your effort is appreciated figuring out that ballpark estimate!. 👍
Right on! , Mr Tim, I remember in auto shop we welded a go-kart together with a 750cc Yamaha engine and the transmission, we took turns burning out lots of fun, thanks Tim
Hi Tim! I acquired an old stick welder , didn't have a use for it and stuck it in a corner. Years later, a friend wanted a bracket repaired, I thought I would have a go. Several hours later, I made a new one that didn't need welding! Should have found your channel first ! Wish I had a Dad like you when I was young, I wanted a go-kart above everything else! Yours goes well, Wonder if my grandson would like one? Thanks for super clear instructions, you have a great channel.
I can tell from the smile on your face how much fun you had doing this project and using the cart with your kids! Great fun project for Dad and fun for everyone when it is finished.
Nice work Tim! Awesome project, it’s nice to see that you kept it simple and affordable for others. Hopefully this video inspires some dad’s to get out and build a kart with there kids! 🙂👍
This looks like so much fun. My dad built us a push cart about 30 years ago. It's still in use today by the grandkids. But I think we should definitely go and try out this one. Wow so simple.
You’re a very intelligent man, I don’t even know how engines work! I used this tutorial and built this exact go kart with my dad, it was so fun I bought a go kart with a WW 500 motor. Thanks for inspiring me in my “Go Kart” Career! 😊❤
Hey, I am trying to build one for my kid. Would you know what the width of the frame is? I was wondering if 24" is appropriate; not sure if that would accommodate the tie rod.
@@arunkrishnan147 test if first with the frame without welding, if it looks ok for you/him you can make it this size, i think 24" is a ok size but it depends on your kids size
nice this is what I want make more content like this. I really appreciate your channel it helps me learn to weld because I can see the welding process in your videos instead of just bright light. I really appreciate your camera work well done sir.
I'm a teacher, and I have a three week class where we make karts. I'm def stealing some of your design ideas, but would happily pay you for any files you have. Thanks for the video!
Good video, nice advice, maybe you should disable the low-oil-shutoff in the engine and install a kill switch for the driver ... But further info about engine tuning and modding could be found else where in YT
I found an old used 2 seater frame on FB marketplace. I stripped it down to the frame and my little man is gonna help me assemble it. Predator 79cc won’t do though….301cc should do fine. 🤠
I built this for my kids. I recommend getting the all terrain 10" tires from Harbor Freight. They have flanged wheel bearings. The tires like the ones in the video were only lasting me 30 minutes before the bearings disintegrated.
I can’t afford a project car. But this, this I can do. I’ll have it adjust some things but this video is a good start. I see a drift cart in my future 😎
Sir, you are a very good engineer. I want to build a go kart for myself, so its going to have to handle about 200 pounds. The thing is, i can still go along your plans just make them heavier and longer.
Very nice Tim !!! Very clean relativity easy build too. As a CWI welding inspector it was hard to watch the vertical fillet welds performed in the downhill direction !!! I do realize that it not a structural steel assembly. Thank you for your content.
I am buildng one out of all my scrap car parts. I have steering column and wheel from silverado Cables from ford escape Led lights harvested from broken headlights Frame rails from various bumper brackets and radiator supports. Gonna be fun will make a video
Got too many scrap parts to list and an old lawn mover I got Friday for free. My build will be all scrap FREE parts only And custom paint too since I work at a body shop : )
That laser cutting service is nice and less than I would have expected but unless it's planned far enough ahead or it's just real precise you could just knock it out yourself with an angle grinder, drill ,files and stuff
Awesome Tim! My son has been waiting for this video since early summer when you first mentioned it. Great father (or mother) and son (or daughter) project!
I myself plan on turning a old boat trailer frame into a gokart . Definitely good video. The only things I don't know how to weld plus my electric service can't support a welder so I have to find a shop around Michigan that can help me on welding part.
I am going to build this with my son and was going to order the steel precut. Do you have the measurements for the other frame pieces (other than the 4 ft sections)?
I'd love to build this with my grand sons. I'm more of a weekend carpenter than metalworker. So my question is, is there a way to build this without welding? Are nuts and bolts an option? Or would the frame just rattle apart? What a great project. Thanks Tim.
This is amazing, perfect way to share a great learning project that people will actually want to make. Thank you very much! p.s. broken link on spindle in description
do you happen to have the plans available for download? I've got my welder, mask the 20-ft stick of steel and all the items on your shopping list. going to give it a go. you made this video so well and confidence inspiring.
THIS IS THE BEST GO KART BUILD TUTORIAL I HAVE EVER SEEN

@0:28 he shows the total cost was $530, but still thank you for your effort

Thanks Tim, now I get to make a go kart from scratch!
Right on! , Mr Tim, I remember in auto shop we welded a go-kart together with a 750cc Yamaha engine and the transmission, we took turns burning out lots of fun, thanks Tim

This is one of your best videos dude! little but fun projects for beginner welders would make an epic series. well done dude
You have been teasing for too long, finally we get to see the kart!
Looks awesome!
The kid is going to figure out how to adjust that governor pretty quickly!
I knew you would make a video about that go kart. Pretty cool to have it sitting in the background in another video

What a great project with simple tools, something every grandpa can do with the grand kid’s thanks for sharing this with us!

Thank you for making this! This is the best build i have ever seen.
this is so fun man your kids are gonna love you, W dad
This kid best be happy as hell
great job. Never thought possible you could build a go kart
Would love to see an adult size cart using the harbor freight ghost engine
I love these gocart builds, you should do more of them, I like to see what you come up with!

Awesome video. I have a 22 can am outlander 850 atv but after watching this i now want a go cart. As a kid I never had one.
Agree
0:06 I thought that was the most concise build video I had ever seen.
I love this! I am watching your video to get some understanding on cart engineering. Thanks!
ITS SO SIMPLY A BABY COULD DO THIS
Suggestion: the Spindle Bracket should be welded 45 deg to the front for full steering span
Good video, nice advice, maybe you should disable the low-oil-shutoff in the engine and install a kill switch for the driver ...

Thank you for all the links for what you used for this go kart. First craftsman Ive seen bother doing that.
Thank you so much I’m saving the video I’m building one for x mas
Enjoyed this video, brings back fond memories of the one my father built for myself.
Bro actually just put parental controls on a go kart 💀
I found an old used 2 seater frame on FB marketplace. I stripped it down to the frame and my little man is gonna help me assemble it. Predator 79cc won’t do though….301cc should do fine. 🤠
Looks like you had fun. Thanks for sharing.
I like your job 🇧🇷😉👏👏👏👏 great show, subscribed thank you man !
Very nice project Sir . . . with your skill level, the sky is the limit. Enjoy!
church parking lot always has the best test rides
For just using nothing but a mig welder and chop saw you sure are using a lot of other tools ;)
yes! a DIY go cart build that doesn't involve a lathe!
I built this for my kids. I recommend getting the all terrain 10" tires from Harbor Freight. They have flanged wheel bearings. The tires like the ones in the video were only lasting me 30 minutes before the bearings disintegrated.
nice work make more videos like this
More simple projects like this please
This is awesome... I might seriously have to think about building one too!
What an awesome project !!!!
And a freebee pack of eddies 👌🏼👌🏼. Cant complain bro haha 😉🔥🤪
I can’t afford a project car. But this, this I can do. I’ll have it adjust some things but this video is a good start. I see a drift cart in my future 😎

great video
Dope video man! Keep up the good work! Maybe we can see some modifications in the future 😎 for the culture!
As soon as he said 'it sounds pretty good' I knew he wanted one himself, by the end it was confirmed lol
I love how the cutouts come with a pack of sour patch kids, nice touch.
That’s an epic project. Love it. 🤩
U make it so easy. Keep it up. Inspired
Excelent Job amigo. 🙋🏻♂️ Cusco 🇵🇪.
I am the world's worst stick welder and that's all I have. Soooo I'll be using this idea with bolted joints instead
Very nice Tim !!! Very clean relativity easy build too. As a CWI welding inspector it was hard to watch the vertical fillet welds performed in the downhill direction !!! I do realize that it not a structural steel assembly.
Thank you for your content.
nice videos
i did this with my dad but we added a more powerful engine to the front
Great overview. Nicely done
Nice build going to try this
I’m a welder and a machinist. Just wanted to see what you did. And how. Then I’m gonna go next level ( home made ) that is.
I am buildng one out of all my scrap car parts.

a simple hyper car or an F 35 engine

Very well explain
How fun. Nice build.
Awesome video thanks I can't wait to try

Tim please build an adult go kart diy
Get to work Tim . You gotta build a bigger one for yourself!!! Please take us along!!! Good times!!
buld a bigger one for sure! be a fun video to watch.
It’s just about done, video coming soon. 😃

i like the fact your thinking of the common man on this build

I am going to build this with my son and was going to order the steel precut. Do you have the measurements for the other frame pieces (other than the 4 ft sections)?
The only reason I subbed here is because of a go kart project Ive taken on. Coincidence!
Cool build!
"Daaad why did you slow it down?"😂😂
Tim you oughta build one for yourself it looked pretty easy to do I’ll have to build one myself but with a bit more speed and horsepower
Looks fun

0:39 no fancy tools like CNC
6:26 uses a laser cutter
🤷♀
I would do all of this, just to get the small packet of sour patch kids.
