- Long-term review of the Pixel 7 after six months. We'll take you through the best features of the Pixel 7, how it compares to the Google Pixel 6a, and the Pixel 7 Pro. The downsides we found with this device, and finally our recommendation on who should pick one up and why you would go with the Pixel 7 over the other phones that Google sells.
We'll also walk you through specific features of this phone, such as the Google Pixel 7's camera system, what you miss out on by not going with the 7 Pro's camera system, the battery life of this phone, some issues that were still found with the screen quality, and overall how its Tensor 2 chip has performed.

All these damn bot retarrds on here. They make it seem like the phone is the worst phone in existence!!!! As of 3/27/2024 I get 9-11 hours SOC time with my pixel 7. Android 14 is awesome on this phone. Cameras are still great. Charges up decently fast (23watt wirelessly) My castify case does not make the phone "slick". Overall great experience coming from a samsung s23 user. Dont listen these bot comments bashing the $hit out of pixel7.
Love my 7 Pro. I'm surprised Google took $345 for my 4a 5G. And there was a $150 off of the Pro when I got it, so I cannot complain about the price.
What a deal
You traded your 4a on Google website ? Iam planning to trade my 4a as well
@@Asif94333Yes, my 4a 5G was in excellent condition. Unfortunately, the only current sale is $150 for the Pro with the Pixel Watch bundle.
@@DagoRuiz Thanks
Sounds like you hit the Google Store at the right time as me.
I had pixel 2, 4 n 5. I was skeptical about 7 because I was using iphone 12. I never liked iphone but got one because my wife has one. Got pixel 7 love it.
Nice review man, good info as well, thank you so much.
You're welcome!
Thank you. Smashed my screen on my beloved Pixel 4a, so I just ordered a Pixel 7. I'm sure I'll see a big difference. Thanks again for the review.
Same here😂 ordered pixel 7 just today
Small world, just did the exact same thing
I also did too lmao i might get a 7 soon but idk if a 7 or 7pro
I have and love my 6 Pro and will be buying the 8 Pro whenever it is released
It is released I hope you bought 😅
Are the displays on pixel as bright as Samsung? On video, they seem slightly dim. I watch lot of UA-cam so wanted better viewing exp.
Ive had my pixel 7 for 8 months now and love it
Only thing I miss with my 7 is double color on the back...wish they brought it back
Hey i still use a 4yr old samsung A70 and considering upgrade to either S24, pixel 8, iphone 15 pro or just get s23? Cus i heard many positive views abt s23.
Which phone you recommend?
will any reviewer address the heat issue on the Samsung fab Tensor?? signal issues, i.e. again Samsung 5G antenna chip? that's caused so much problem in the Pixel 6? where's the beef?
thx Josh, good video
Are there any good alternatives for the pixel 7 ? For 600 dollars
i wish they had the fingerprint unlock on the back, it is so intuitive to hold the phone and press with your index finger on the back.
I soooo agree with this
Is this good for seniors? My mom has a el cheapo Samsung J7. It's so slow. And it's been almost 6 yrs
great video :)
Does it charge wireless at flat surfaces (car) (flat - NO charging PAD)
Why face unlock is not available in 6 Pro?
I bought Pixel 7 one day ago and it's getting extremely hot even with minimal apps, no back cover case, and no camera usage. After 10 minutes of use, it gets really uncomfortable to hold it in hand. Very disappointed.
Same
@@academic5024 There are some glitches in the software also. Like for example the Maps app would turn to dark mode automatically sometimes during use. My phone setting is on dark mode but I have set Maps settings on light mode. This combination somehow is not working flawlessly.
Must have gotten a lemon....
Microwaving it doesn't charge it
Which one is better 7 or 7a ? What is the recommendation. I'm confused
What a fresh tech channel
Plan to get a 7a this year
well... i have the 14 Pro Max and for the second phone I have a Samsung s10+, and now Comcast gives me a Pixel 7 for free!... so a nice update! nice review!
1:47 if low light is better on the 50mpix Pixel 7, then why is the 6a brighter in low light in both examples...?? you dont make sense. What is good to you?
What's the battery like ? 7/8 hours sot ? Will it last from 7 am till 12am ?
It gets just over 7 hours on browser tests, compared to 9.5 hours for most other flagships (including the 7 pro), making it objectively around 25% worse than where it should be. Add to that the G2 not being very power efficient in heavier tasks and you end up where we are right now (must also not forget to add in the relatively slow charging on the pixel 7).
The SOC they intend to use in the Pixel 8 reportedly has the same power efficiency issues, hence why Samsung skipped it and used the SD 8 gen 2 globally this year, so probably won't see a true fix till the Pixel 9 series.
@@michaeldendulk2230 great reply, thinking of skipping it now
For what it’s worth I typically get about 7 1/2 hours and in the day on about 30% and use it relatively heavy
How about battery life, heating and modem issues? I keep reading about these issues regarding Pixel phones, specially the 7 line-up, which makes me apprehensive of making the purchase :(
True! Horrible battery, getting hot, sometimes frozen screen which I haven't seen in any latest phones. Apart from this , the camera is brilliant
@@youngdani7836 Oh man that's a bummer :/ After reading through so many of those problems I gave up on Pixels. Specially after seeing those weren't exactly solved on Pixel 8. I ended up getting a Xiaomi 14 myself and I'm pretty happy with it!
I bought my pixel 7 as my first phone from Google about a month ago and I couldn't be happier.
Getting mine soon!
How is it?
Does the battery drain too quick?
@@balkis8457 If I start the morning with 100% I usually get to 20 by 6pm, but if I dont use it that much it can last all day. I have noticed that the battery takes a big hit from video calls. The strange thing is that overnight it loses about 10-15% which isn't great but it could be the 5G (it is not a big deal since overnight it uses adaptive charging).
Note that I have 5G all the time and I am never connected to wifi (since here in Italy with just 10 euros I have 200bg).
I would say that overall it is the best phone you can get and it costs wayy less than other phones. I am very happy with it.
@@ilibraci20%by 6 is frickin horrible. Problems with your battery for sure.
Loving this device so far, the best i've had.
I cant flip my selfie videos tho. Is there a solution for this?
Has anyone switched from a iPhone to a pixel and if so how do you feel about your choice
New generation of Pixels come with Time of Flight sensor or ToF sensor, which is not quite as advanced as Apple's Lidar but it's supposedly a better version of Samsung's basic laser af.
Has anyone had a touch failure issue?
Pixel 7 Pro can share battery?
I'm an intensive smartphone user, the wise decision I made this year is buying a Pixel 7 pro, I feel satisfied at the most of situation specially the Software ❤️ the same satisfaction I got when I left Iphone madness and sickness like the most fanboys for Huawei before the US ban I was satisfied of the switching and perplexed after the US ban, what to buy next after 3 years with my P30 pro which i still having it beside my pixel 7 pro still stunning and powerful phone after 4 years of use big up to Huawei
I was afraid of going back to the iOS jail , till Google saved us I bought a Pixel 7 pro 256 GB, my friends mostly latest IPhone's and Galaxy's Fanboys are like ''wooow you have this feature! so cool I wish I can do that on mine to 😭'' some of them even asked me to sell them my P7pro or make an exchange with them , I'm like '' hell no, you can buy one it's out there'' Google nailed it I'm waiting for the next move on the Pixel 8 series, what will Google brings more ?! exciting
As an intensive user, how would you rate the battery life?
@@matheogoujon362 I didn't like the one on the 7 I moved to the 7 pro just fine, what else?
I'm on my Huawei P10 lite atm and I still couldn't decide yet if I should go for the P30 Pro since that is the last model that still has the Google services or if I should try smth entirely new like a Google Pixel 7 now or wait for the S23 to get cheaper... Can u maybe give me some insightful information on that? I'd appreciate it 😁
Does it have the pause option while u recording a video like Samsung?
i just got me the 7a with the pixel buds a for 240...couldnt go for 7 pro or 8 series when the price is so insanely good.
2:30 Weird. That looks like the opposite of what HDR is supposed to do. Bright areas are over exposed. The bird and the treeline in the background underexposed.
You need an HDR capable display to properly view an HDR video. Also, this youtube video is not in HDR so the colors from that HDR video gets washed out and dull since we are viewing it on SDR and not HDR
Is a Google Pixel 7 better than a Samsung Galaxy A54 ?
Been looking at a new phone, something decent, I normally run around with the cheap disposable phones, my old job as a miner, there was a boat load of phone casualties.
The Google Pixel is the phone that's been catching my eye.
It's not overpriced like the new Galaxy or iPhone, it seems to have better features.
Wait for the Pixel 8
@@I-See-In-The-Dark pixel 8 is going to be more expensive, about $150 more.
@@wheresmahat345 that's why I bought an S23+
man google is paying for these positive reviews. look up the real reviews - botched up screen, extremely buggy, fingerprint unlock doesn't work, etc.
Does it make good calls and text... Mines comes in a couple days... I'm a simple guy ya know...
Is pixel 7 worth than s23? In terms of the value and the camera? And the design is it ugly than s23?
Loving it
Just got it from Google for 519€ anniversary discount! Excited
found it odd i upgraded my phone i am in Canada it says 599 for the 7 everywhere to get it new tho with virgin mobile u could upgrade to it for cost of the phone being 120 $ 5$ m for 2 years or with a 60 down payment 2.50 $ m with a phone plane of 62 $ a mouth 45g data untimed text and calling more data then my old plane where i was paying 55$ for 8 g and same other 2 features after tax and other payments it was 90.25 $ a mouth now its down 74.17 16$ less then my old plane and not sure why the phone is marked down so much if i got it full price with tax it would be 688.85$ can tho its only 120 $ 568.85 off
Why are you comparing it to the 6a ???? Why not the pixel 6 ?
Guys, I have been using my Google Pixel 7 for almost 2 weeks but I am very confused about the Wi-Fi range. Mine is not that strong and I am not sure if yours are like that. Now I'm using my OnePlus 8 and Google pixel 7. But the OnePlus 8 Wi-Fi range is much stronger so can someone of you try to compare his Google Pixel 7 with any other phone and give me the results ?
Switched from iphone to pixle started at 7 and I love it. Android is new to me a lot to learn. But I like the battery the size and the fraction of the iphone cost. Camera is good.
Bad things:
There are glitches. My phone sometimes freezes when I try to open it. Sometimes it freezes when I use it. It doesn't happen often it's just a little annoying. Overall I like it I will continues to stick with googles phone.
I too switched and loving it.
Still having problems? Mine arrives tomorrow
I only discovered deal breaking Chinese phones steal your data, whatever that means. How many people you know own realme, OnePlus, Poco f4 etc?
lol@@mikesmith8313
i really wanted a camera that has phone capability, rather than a phone i can take pics with, i got mine on discount (£377) so as i saved myself a bunch of money on a digital camera that wouldn't have so many effects i think i got a phone for free (!)
Where did you buy it from please?
Just as a warning to new owners, get a screen protector immediately. The glass on the 7 is pretty hard to damage, but the slightest crack will cause the screen to go completely unresponsive.
Bro, is it still worthy to buy?
Had mine for months. No screen protector. No problems!
I just got mine and it's amazing I have a variety of Samsung and pixel and now even iphones I have to say the pixel 7 is now my favorite
Do Google Phones take the best pictures generally?
Are these phones Secure? Will you need any sort of antivirus?
Nah
was excited to get a new pixel 7 but they only take $350 for my iphone 14
4:05 Yep, glass is slick...That's why tires and roads aren't made of glass 😁
What was your point? Is this particular glass glassier than other phones'?
My s21 plus glass is more slick than my pixel 7 lol. I guess this guy has the slickest glass ever!
You need an HDR capable display to properly view an HDR video.
Is buying a refurbished pixel 7 from eBay still worth it?
Just bought one for 279 excellent condition, no issues for me. I love it better than my iPhone 15 pro.
Nokia 3310 had battery share option back in 2000 😁
Pixel 7 new on eBay is $425 so I'm going with that. The 6a is about 300 new. Want a big enough difference for me to get the 6a. Besides the 7 was originally 600 plus tax so that's about 200 off.
Just got a new one for $300 on eBay, finally upgrading my 3a
Went from a Samsung S8(2017) to a Pixel 5 (01/2022). My S8 was slow, unsupported, and buggy due the switchover from 3G to 5G service. Though the P5 was a better performer than my old S8, it was clear the P5 was beginning to have issues as well. Time to bite the bullet and choose a flagship/near flagship phone.
I was about to buy a S23, when I took a peek at the Google Store for giggles and shit. The new purchase discounts were about the same(-$125/S23 vs -$150/P7), but the trade-values were crazy different. Samsung's for my old S8(yes, I still have it) was $108/working no cracks. Google's was $320 for my P5 working no cracks.
I nearly committed to the S23 at $466 because of my then good experience with my old S8 BUT, that trade-in I got from Google making the P7 $174 was a crazy good deal, a near $300 difference.
That said, the Pixel 7 has been a joy thus far, and no glitches. Fast, smooth, good battery life, and no wifi issues that I've heard from other P7 owners.
And to think I was just curious, and looking for giggles and shit. Hopefully I won't regret the choice. I WAS gonna buy an S23.
Hey i still use a 4yr old samsung A70 and considering upgrade to either S24, pixel 8, iphone 15 pro or just get s23? Cus i heard many positive views abt s23.
Which phone you recommend?
Hey, so I am also using Samsung Galaxy S8 like you. Its been 4 years with this phone but now I think it's time for a change. I am planning about buying either Samsung S22 or Google Pixel 7. Glad to see someone who used S8 like me.
@@shabibsadman9154 i suggest you get s23 than s22 cus s22 has bad battery and some heating issues. I also suggest to wait pixel 8 too
@@shabibsadman9154 Through my research, I would've gotten an S23, since there's little difference between the S21and S22. I read and been told the difference between the S21 and S23 is significant.
I bought an A51, before i had a similar A series, lots of issues all around
very sluggish performance, button issues, charging issues etc.
Im ready to buy either an Iphone 14 or a P7, not sure yet
not gonna waste 300 EUR anymore if I can spend 100/200 more and get an actual decent phone
I still just use a house phone. Don't see friends for days, weeks or even months...I love it this way ❤
Bless you
What a peaceful life ❤
I would love this, but I unfortunately need a phone for my job.
@@mllermusic3979i just need it for Google maps
Anyone use this phone for microstock? I need review 😊
Returned mine , I seen the reports about the glass shattering and thought Google’s customer service is shit as it is even when you have regulations in the uk i.e 14 day returns and they still mess up what is going to happen if you actually have a problem? I returned it
You returned it because google customer service is shit? Why did you buy it in the first place? lol
My Pixel 7 Pro will no longer connect to the network. It's a known issue within Google but no fix in sight. So I'm left with a phone that only works on WiFi. Worst Pixel phone I've ever owned. The 2xl and 6 were the best.
I wish mine worked as well as you say yours does.
Factory reset ? Or exchange due to hardware defect?
@@ashleythomas1988 supposedly it's a cellular issue so Google Fi is looking into it. Reset and all that doesn't work.
I have the same issue, and I believe it's because of the 5G feature. Still waiting for the system update.
@@bagasmaulana9286 They're not sure the cause from what they've told me. I've been working when them for 2 months on this. They have no fix and don't know when this issue will be fixed. Now, this is under Google Fi. I am doing a test run on Verizon's network and so far haven't had any issues with it not connecting to the Network immediately. I had asked Google Fi if there could be any type of partial reimbursement for not being able to connect for about 25%+ of the time I should be connected and they said even if you get 1 call, 1 text, or use any part of data, you pay the full monthly fee no matter what. So....we may be switching networks if the verizon network shows no issues with this issue that Google has no fix for.
Quite a set of chompers you had in that unblur photo 😂
😂
yes its worth it
Anyone else’s pixel 7 phone audio start glitching badly?
They say it's the flagship. I didn't realize that. And I'm still pretty sure it's not really significantly better than a $100 Motorola. But it'll do because I signed. I didn't want to spend the money for an iPhone but I wouldn't have minded to have a 13 or 14.
the performance on the iphones is better. The camera is better on the pixel. I'm doing some research now and deciding what new phone to get (broke my iphone 11)
My Pixel 2 😢 will be going in the drawer after ordering the Pixel 7 yesterday. Google offered $25 for the trade and I passed. No thanks. Looking forward to the upgrade..
wowowow
Any heating issu
not on 7
I didn't like the phone at all and returned it. Face unlock worked maybe 50% of the time, the OS is clunky and not intuitive at all, etc. Disappointing.
1:01 don't scare me like that bro
Nice
A lot of talk about just the camera. Very little on battery. Almost nothing on performance.
This is just a regular review of features, not what you discovered during the 6 months you've been using it :/
Wireless charging really sucks, charging turn off and on when ever it wants
Is it still worth getting the pixel 6 for $320 brand new? (my budget is $350 max😮)
I own a pixel 6, in terms of hardware, it's the absolute worst I've ever used. Overheats a lot, batter drains so fast and the fingerprint sucks.
Go for a 6a! A nice small size smartphone. I own one and I have zero complains.
6 i have heard overheats. Go for 7
For the price, can't complain. Especially if you compare it to a similarly priced iphone. I got my pixel 7 for $449. That's the price of an old iphone

Pixel 7 interface is not intuitive. To use the phone, it opens up to contacts and then requires clicking on a tiny icon to bring up the phone keypad. Also, answering the locked phone is nearly impossible… anyone who knows how to fix these things please respond…I’ve looked everywhere and regret buying this phone. The only good thing is the camera and video functionality.
The deal breaker for me is the size. The phone is still too big. I have a Pixel 5, so going to the 7 is a no no. I hope the Pixel 8 is smaller like some rumours suggest
I went from a pixel 5 to the 7 because the ear piece broke and i miss the size of the 5 all the time 😢
Go for 7A
@@ImranH99 I thought the 7a is the sameish size as the 7? is it actually smaller?
@@LatencyProblem Yes, 7a will be smaller (6.1 inch) than 7 (6.3 inches)
pixel 5 is massively underrated. compact and light
It was my next phone to buy but when i check it in person, it's really bad the screen. It looks worse than my redmi phone in everyway, the color, the bezel... And the smoothness difference is not noticeable. Decided not to buy a pixel 7. Xiaomi did them dirty.
Which is better Pixel 6 Pro or Pixel 7?
That’s tough, but the screen quality of the 6 Pro is better plus you get the telephoto camera and better screen refresh rate. So I’d choose the 6 Pro in that situation. Which one were you leaning towards? - Josh
@@6MonthsLatergosh - you take the time to answer his question and he doesn't acknowledge, thank you, or even just 'like' your reply. All too common these days.

Purchased 6 weeks ago. Not happy. Weak signal as compared to previous older Samsung. Dropping calls, weaker in all areas previous phone was great. Store could not help, Google Pixel offered no help. Very disappointed and stuck.
Thank goodness they brought back face unlock
Just got the P7 gave my P6 to my daughter

This is a comparison with the Pixel 6a. Where does it that in the title? Why do you compare it to the 6a? You dont give a reason. Why not compare with a Sony phone, a Nokia phone or an Iphone SE (e.g., 60 hz screen). Why do I even bother writing this?
Cause 6a was googles previous phone. Sony and Nokia phones are not available in the USA.
You are not very intelligent, are you?
Pixel 7 wifi sucks, my old S8 has zero wifi issues. Pixel 7 will buffer on UA-cam, meanwhile S8 side by side has zero issues
8/10 of the Video just talking about the fcking cam. I don't understand why it's always about the stupid camera. I want a phone with practical functions, not a professional camera
I don't know about build quality it feels cheap and hallow tapping on the screen. There are large gaps where dirt can get in. If the build quality was better I would get it. The screen isn't very nice to look at.
And HDR is just terrible in every phone at the moment a total gimmick.
I would never recommend the pixel 6 due to the G1 chip
why is half of the review just about cameras.
improvements? my pixel 2 take better selfies in every situation, with more details and more accurate colors without the fake overprocessing of Pixel 7, specially in artificial light
Always enjoy your videos. Maybe it's just a pet peeve, but come on. There is no FOOTAGE coming out of digital video equipment. Not unless your Pixel uses film or video tape.
i only dont like is the display, it's yellowish
I had a Pixel 3, loved it, incredible camera...really superb.
Terrible hardware. Camera broke after 3 months in my first one (focusing broke). replacement lasted another 6 months. Third one had massive unexplained battery drain..made it completely unusable. Support was awful.
