By soaking them, it makes it easier to absorb the nutrients from them, while also reducing digestive issues for those who experience them. If you forgot to soak them overnight, you can also soak them for 10-20 minutes in warm water before eating.
    For people with diabetes or blood sugar issues, it's generally recommended to consume dates as part of a balanced meal that includes fiber, protein, and healthy fats. This will help to slow down sugar absorption and minimize rapid blood sugar spikes.

      Wow, you have just confirmed what Prophet Mohammed PBHU advised Muslim the importance of eating dates. He PBUH insisted particularly during the fasting month of Ramadhan to break the fast by eating dates first. I lived in Arabia for quite long and noticed dates have different qualities and they sell like hot cake. By the way the Arabs have dates as essential day snacks.

    Myself and my husband consume many dates daily,😊 as we live in Tunisia 🇹🇳 & they grow in abundance all around us!❤
    We also have 2 fig trees in our garden, & 2 Pomegranate trees, my husband probably eats 10-15 dates a day, he is 74 very fit & active, walks 8-10 kms daily. We have lived here for 11 years now. 😊

      @@citygirl9615 there are definite benefits to oatmeal. While it does not help your glycemic index, it does help your digestive tract and does help create a gut biome... Along with things like cabbage and kefir and sauerkraut....
      I think intermittently, especially for older adults oatmeal is not a bad thing... And including the dates or figs this even better.
      Because after 50 both your stomach acid and your gut biome change...

    In 1980 I was employed to direct a large project in Kuwait, and since dates were readily available, I acquired the habit of eating two dates at breakfast time. I am still continuing this, though now living in Italy. At the age of 85, no one believes it when they discover this, my doctor included.

    My sugar levels and energy level have definitely improved immensely. I started this before seeing this video way back in September 2023 when I met a date farmer from Abu Dhabi who recommended and advised me to take 1-2 dates a day ❤. A friend of mine shared this video with me and I made sure I shared it with all my friends and family.

    I have been eating 4 small size pitted dates every day along with breakfast which includes finger millets, chia seeds and ground flax seeds. I also consume glucophage 500mg since I am diabetic for the last 6 years. My glucose level has been about 6&7 two hours after breakfast. My bowel motion is perfect and regular. My periferal neuropathic symptoms have reduced considerably. I believe that introducing dates in my breakfast has helped to improve my health. I am 79 years old male.

    I eat my dates with nuts. I stick a walnut, pecan, brazil nut, cashew in between my date and snack away. I believe eating the date with nuts slows the absorption of the glucose thru my system, spiking my glucose. I've observed I absorb more iron/nutrients and my bowels moves like clock work. I'm diabetic so I only eat them 1-2 a day bout 3X's week. This is what works for me eating dates.

      * Better skin health. It's more soft and supple.
      * I crave chocolate a lot less, knowing I can eat delicious dates instead.
      * Bowel function is better.
      * My mood is better and more stable. Before, I would have spikes of feeling very low in mood.

    We eat dates (2/day) alongwith walnuts, almonds, pumkin seeds cashews and socked resin(all 5 pcs each) with black coffee without sugar. This is our daily routine for years.Our fasting sugar levels are 120 or 125 for the last several years.

    When I placed my dates in the bowl one day, I saw black spots on the bowl, so I soaked the 5 dates with boiling water for few minutes, It made it softer & easier to chew.

      Actually, the speech is directed to 0:00 the virgin Mary, mother of the prophet Jesus ❤ (upon them both be peace) when she was pregnant, but of course it is a lesson to pregnant women. It is beneficial to eat dates before labour.

    I've been eating Dates for years and I keep a 500 gram box in my fridge. Also the Tuareg people of Mali eat dates as a travel food when crossing the Sahara Desert which they say you need 7 dates a day for a full trip and of course dates have always been accessible to them. But go find a good Asian food store for the best Dates. I eat Persian dates.

    Most of the nutrition found in a date is located in the seed. In order to digest the seeds nutrients you hade to completely dehydrate the seed (low and slow) and then grind the dehydrated seed into a powder and add the powder to a beverage. It'll require more than 1 date too. I don't know the exact amount though. I used to eat 4 dates per day. Quite a bit of sugar.

    I have been eating dates for a while. It helps to keep me regulated. People in other cultures that fast use dates to break their fast so that it doesn't spike their blood sugar when they eat. I love figs too

    I am diabetic. I love dates but i have observed that eating dates one to two increses the urgency to urinate in no time and sometimes helpless to co trol the urination. Reasons for that. I am seventy plus.

      Hmm, thanks for sharing that. Here’s my hypothesis:
      The high potassium content in dates may be causing you to notice a some mild diuretic effect (although I wouldn’t necessarily associate potassium directly with that), I mean it’s not even as high in potassium as bananas or avocados (quick question: do you notice such effects with those fruits as well or not)
      I can’t think of anything else in dates that should be causing that. It’s a dry fruit, so again, that shouldn’t be as well.
      My advice is that if you experience a pressing urge to urinate after consuming dates, it's best to consult with your Doctor to determine the underlying cause.

      Dates are in my salads, Rice, and breakfast smoothies . I see it gives me great bowel movements. I also give them to my granddaughter when she comes over. She is 5, and is constipated a lot. Tthis helps her so much when she gets dates.

    Dates tastes great and I already eat two dates a day so hopefully all the good things are true - but I think it is dependent of your overall life style - I think it has to be basically a whole food plant based dies that is without processed food and low fat ❤

    We have date everyday.Also when we break our fast. This is because the Prophet Muhammad (blessing of Allah be with him) advised us 1445 years ago about the benefits of dates. He did not go to university but his wisdom was from the Almighty God.

    I eat dates with almonds it tastes good together. I also drink Iranian tea with those two. If you see circle small dots like, black stuff inside the dates don't eat those.

    Instead of reaching for chocolate in the afternoon I eat some dates with nuts and that helps to curb the food cravings and hold out until dinner.

    I never eat dates yet but one day I will have to try it in my country it is very expensive could you use dates as a brain food I will have to try dates for it purposes

    An interesting video. However, you have missed out the most significant fact about dates-eating: You should eat one date at a time, not two at one go. You can have 1, 3, 5, 7 dates for breakfast , but never 2, 4, 6. Odd number but never even number of dates. The reason is that their inner nutrients neutralize and counteract each other when we eat 2 dates at the same time, the same way minus sign (-) and plus sign (+) do when electricity is concerned. So, eat 2 dates a day, however make sure there's a gap in their consuming -hours.

    Dates are high in iron… soak two dates overnight in a cup of water. Smash with a fork and add a little hot water plus 1-2tsp apple cider vinegar (with the mother) for absorption. Iron will go up quickly.

    In The Quran in chapter 19 verse 25, God tells Mary to .... "And shake the trunk of the palm tree towards you, it will drop fresh, ripe dates to you."
    if you havent read this book, its a MUST read at least one in one life.

    Vinegar mixed with my (meat) dishes is great for improving digestion in my experience; and "bloating" in the gut has more to do with feeding the gut biome too much fiber in a meal setting; and while insoluble fiber helps provide a lattice for the gut biome to live upon, and pectin to help "patch" holes in the gut lining, the sugar/glucose input might not be worth the trade-off again the constant daily bump out of nutritional ketosis. Instead, I just take pectin by itself; and certain fibers (inulin/psyllium) by themselves. At my age, I don't/want need the sugar input affects (plus insulin spikes) on my body daily like that. I reversed my Type II diabetes, and don't want it to coming back (what a nightmare it was becoming).

    Two dates a day are nothing, In Arab countries, consuming 7 dates is the minimum.

      @@_wellpedia I think it has nothing to do with religion. In the arabian regions they did not have any other choice (up until a few decades ago), but to eat date and Lizards and drink camel's urine it part of their culture even to this day, (I saw them drinking camel's urine on the Y.U., They did not have piped water to their tents or caves).
      If they had choice of apple, orange, pomegranate, banana ( and many other fruit and veg) and date. Then if profit Mohammade had told them to choose and eat only dates, then that would have had religious context.
      Even here in the west (UK) 30 or 40 years ago we hardly ever had seen melon, watermelon, pomegranate, or many other fruit and vegetable that we see ( all year round) these days.
      This is all due to better storage, transportation that we have these days. a few years ago I gave a pomegranate to a British middle age man, he did know what to do with it.
      Before modern transportation, say two or three hundred years ago people ate what locally they could grow. Thirty year ago English woman did NOT know how to cook rice, but she knew how to boil potato.

      In the holy Quran, there is mention of benefits of olives, honey, proper sleep, the way one should sleep and so many other ther things apart from benefits of dates. This is not because of just "availability "
