#!$!#@$ Thought I found an easy router table and jig. Then half way through building it I find your setup. Now I have to restart and modify to this build as it is much better!!!
Great build Matt, I've looked at a few of these on YT, yours is much simpler to build. if you drill a larger hole in the jig base with forstner bit, in the slot just where the bit engages with your material, that will allow the dust collection hole in the table to function. Your base is big enough that the hole won't affect stability. you could always bridge across camera view side & slot the jig over your bit as it doesn't need the whole 10 inch travel
I made the same jig from scrap last year and it works well. Using thin material for the sled and top is a good tip, mine is thicker than it should be so the router bit has to be most of the way out of the collet. If you need to adjust the auxiliary fence it's lefty loosey, righty tighty.
Nice one Matt. I feel this is even better than the table saw jig which is similiar. We could use a 19mm router bit and get a real fat box joint. Or even use a dovetail bit as well
I just ordered the countersink you recommend as mine made a mess of plywood but work OK on softwood. One question I am really curious about - can you make these jigs using plywood and cuts made with a bandsaw? The look like they may need the precision of your tablesaw, but I don't own one.
I made a cobbled together version after the same Make Something video and have had mixed results - it seems to loose the alignment over longer pieces. Had just decided to remake the whole thing so will try this approach next - thanks.

Now thats a nice box joint jig. I wont be bored in the shed now that ive got something to make. Gr8 vid
All the right tools for the right job 🥰
With your endorsement of Dave's jig, plus the handy links to the recommended parts, I'm storing this video in my 'Workshop' playlist - cheers Matt
Great idea Matt because the cutter is less expensive than a dado set for your bench saw. Works really well and very simple to make. Tony
Oh I love this idea, will be on it, as soon as I’ve recovered from ‘Covid’..
Clever and simple jig, well presented video, no annoying loud music.
Thank you
Slowly working on my router table build and then to the box joint jig! Can’t wait see how it goes!
That is a cracking design. Cheers for sharing 👍🏻
Thanks Matt. Enjoyable as always!
Thank you

Tell you what Matt thats the happiest looking mitre gauge I have ever seen 😀
Love this one Matt - just been looking at a load of videos on router box joint jigs so this is great timing!
Thank you. I am pleased with how it works
I got a set of those countersinks recently too - so good!
Yes they are great
Great work. I may have to try this

Yes I want to try it with a larger bit
Thanks for the film, I’m going to try this, ps just bought a few tools via your links @ Amazon hope this means you get a bit of money.
It does, thank you very much
Great video Matt, I must have a go at making one of those, it looks easy!
Thank you. Yes it’s pretty simple
does the oak wood spacer you used have to be the same width as the router bit?

Ah, the joy of first watch and comment.
Thanks for watching
Enjoyed the vid Mat
Thank you
Great video!!! Learning so much.
Where do you source your lovely birch plywood from? Cannot seem to get anything but B grade with internal gaps!
Very good.
Thank you
I can't find the link to the counter-sink set! 🤔
I'm struggling to make a clean cut When I'm cutting through plywood it rips the first veneer. Is the router bit not sharp enough? It looks ok to me
good job..
Thanks
Hi Matt, to help dust collection could you not just make the slot in the sled the same width as the hole where the bit comes through?
You really want as much support under the work piece as possible
I spend more time making jigs than soft Mick, more time spent getting it right pays off in the long run ☺️
Yes it does

Great vis
Thank you
Whats the view on the router? Been looking at it recently.
It seems fine for such a cheap machine
The hat's back >:-0 And off again. And on again. :-) Not quite warm enough to abandon it yet?
Not yet
👍😃👍😃👍😃👍😃
what does "indecent plywood" look like ? not square/rectangle/triangle/round but ...
Don’t know
