636 is what I use, but I don't like the ergonomics. The Ranger mic is perfect except it sounds like crap on my Stryker 447HPC2. 636 insides put into a Ranger, and I would be very happy.
Could you do a walkthrough of your shop for those who can't visit in person ? So we can see what you have in stock and see the work areas where these radios are custom modifided..
Hands down, the D-104 handheld microphone sounded fantastic a huge step up from the others. The P's and T's were clear and not edgy. I would love to know what you did to "modify" that D-104 handheld mic.
I would love to see what you could do with a lincoln II plus. I'm also thinking of buying one of your upgraded echo boards to swap out the old tired board in my Galaxy 88.
I bet ya if ya sprayed that old tore up mic cord with flexseal spray, that would look pretty good LOL. But really they all sound good! Well done and keep up the good work 👍🏻
I tried the sra198 with the 2 components removed from inside the microphone on a general hp40 as a base unit and it sounded amazing, while running modulation around 70 to 90% modulation, never tried it like that in the mobile. On the Stryker and anytone 5555n ii, used as a base unit, the d104m6b hand microphone sounded great with modulation ran around 70 to 90% modulation, didnt try this in the mobile. Thanks man for doing these microphone tests, it really helps people out so much to get an idea as to what each mike sounds like.im guessing you were running around a 100% modulation?
Hi Drail! What fails in noise canceling mics if they are dropped too hard? My RK56 and SRA-198 failed after hitting the floor hard. Looking inside though everything seems fine.
I agree with your microphone assessment. The newer model road King 56 without being modified aren't they usually really nasally sounding ? By the way the radio sounds really good
D rail is there anyway to get real talkback!!?? Possibly even run a monitor radio with no antenna or anything or would it give feedback? I really want a radio like this but I want talkback
You can use talkback with a 636 mic or any noise canceling mic through any internal or external speaker or even on a monitor. Or if you wanted the best handheld d104 mic then you would have to use headphones 🎧 over the ear so the mic doesn't see the speaker to squeal. So if you wanted to use the best mic then headphones on your talkback would work or you can use a monitor radio that what I do I use headphones on a monitor radio.
No i have guys running 16 pills in semi's running the decked Stryker's with my modded d104s I manipulate the input and output stage in the audio chain to keep and even increase presence and remove background noise for the mics
@@DRail1990I’m in a 2024 Peterbilt 579. New trucks are way more quiet than days of old. I’m considering getting rid of my NC mics and getting something new with better sound than my R198. Thank you.
Put some headphones on and cut volume down big change from mic to mic if you want plain weak audio plenty of stock tuners out there but this is about mics.
$100. We clean the switch bc they come dirty from factory, notch the switch to eliminate any pop, then do the Mods for more bass and frequency response and add a battery.
It's gonna depend on the tune if it's had a diode put at r238 like 90% of shops do to gain a watt, it creates distortion and a weaken mic like a ranger or rk might help clean up an overmodulated radio. Set up correctly the correct model 636 will sound better than others. Keep in mind there is 6 different model rk56 mics 3 different model astatics and 2 different model ranger the best of all the noise canceling is a certain model 636. Also bear in mind I don't tune stuff using talkback I listen to everything I tune over the air with headphones like every will be hearing it not whatever bs sound comes out the talkback.

Thanks for the video and the demonstration

Not sure how I'm just seeing this but Google Wolfmans Cb Shop plenty of pics on there.
Sounds awesome with the D104!,!
D104 sounds insane . NC 636 but the old school RK has that older galaxy 2 digit radio punchy sound, but not as clean .
Hands down, the D-104 handheld microphone sounded fantastic a huge step up from the others. The P's and T's were clear and not edgy. I would love to know what you did to "modify" that D-104 handheld mic.
The 878 base mics I modify will beat any of these. I wish I would have put it on there to test against the others.
I certainly don't know alot about mics but I have come to like the 636l
D104 BEST OUT OF ALL OF THEM HANDS DOWN
That was an awesome video.
I would love to see what you could do with a lincoln II plus.

636 sounded great
Brother you are the master of the world of sound! Keep up the great vids D-rail👌👌
Awesome job d-rail thanks
Great video
Keep doing great tech work
Welcome to the world of sound...I also own a D104 by DRAIL and so far people/local and distant love the sound
D rail great video! Awsome radio's!
Very nice
Love my old school D104 m6b. I have the newer rk56 and do not like the sound of it. Nice job great video👍🏼
Old and new d104s are tinny and thin without mods not a fan of them stock.
I bet ya if ya sprayed that old tore up mic cord with flexseal spray, that would look pretty good LOL. But really they all sound good! Well done and keep up the good work 👍🏻
Very nice for your support
Thank you 73's. From 314nj boogeyman
DRail the microphone KING!!!👑👑👑👑 👑
Dang you make a radio sound awesome.you need to to mine.

Awesome work! Sounds great!
Would love to hear your modded 878...just for fun. Great job! Best in the buisness
I love the 878 between it and d104 is a toss up d104 more punch and bass 878 cleaner little more range better highs 878 better for smooth audio.

Yeah and 3 are junk only 1 is good out of the rks and the one thats good has to be modded but it does beat the old.
The d104 sounds extremely amazing. The old school rk56 sounds good to but the d104 wins in my opinion
Is the d104 good not modded?
No they come with a dirty switch a pop noise and very very tinny before the mods not a fan of them stock.
@@DRail1990 thanks for the tip. I'm looking for a decent mic for my 955.
636 unless radio is heavily modified.
I have 3 of the d104 hand microphones, the switch on em was dirty, I used a deoxint spray and it got rid of the scratchy sound.
D rail is there anyway to get real talkback!!?? Possibly even run a monitor radio with no antenna or anything or would it give feedback? I really want a radio like this but I want talkback

How can I get my hands of a modified d104? I just got a ranger rci-x9 would the d104 sound good with my radio?
X9 is really bassy so yes d104 would sound good with it. We have lots of d104s already modded and ready just gives us a call 706-384-5184
@@DRail1990 thanks I definitely will give you a call!
Would your d104 pick up to much background noise in a semi going down the road?

I couldn’t tell a difference in the mics but it sounded like you were way over modulated. Didn’t have the clear simple audio that I prefer.
Put some headphones on and cut volume down big change from mic to mic if you want plain weak audio plenty of stock tuners out there but this is about mics.
$15 super star 👍
How much is a moded hand held d104
$100. We clean the switch bc they come dirty from factory, notch the switch to eliminate any pop, then do the Mods for more bass and frequency response and add a battery.
242 Sidewinder - thanks D-RAIL
Hi-Fi mods available for MK IV'S??? I have a 955 that will get done one day?
Post the connex3300 from yesterday
Best mic 497hpc
I need a d-104 with a tweetybird can you hook me up?
Be nice if the echo was zero.
Not on a connex that 636 ain’t it
