The sailfin tetra is very territorial. Keep in low numbers. Males get very beautiful.
Glad I looked at the comments I want to order 20 of those blood cap moon tetras when I get home
I had sailfin tetras some years ago.. Found them beautiful, but a bit agressive, they took out all my neons over a period of 2-3 months....
Awesome video, Bob! It's great that you're highlighting uncommon species of tetras! Those green lizard tetras are a must on my fish keeping bucket list! 🙂
Those moenkhausia collettii are amazing! Never heard of those before but now im eager to find out if those are available in my country. Great video!
Great video! The last livestream with you and Dan was really exciting. Thank you for the content.
Thank you very much for visiting Dan and bringing us these unique fish in the Tetra game. I'm torn between the first and the last. Guess I'll be spending the weekend, reading 👍
#1: Those swordtail tetras look SO MUCH LIKE furcatus rainbows (pseudomugils...);
#2: That "slow jazz" clip of the sailfin @ ~12:00 is absolutely brilliant editing, Bob. AAA+++
Fascinating! Thank you!
Thank you for the introduction to these amazing tetras!
Great video there, sir! LOL the jazz on a Saturday night slo-mo with that fantastic tetra was everything.....
Pumped I was gifted a subscription in the last stream bc I’m loving all the videos! I pretty much want all the tetras you showed in this video but those colletti tetras were gorgeous!
So glad you had an awesome visit!!
It was and i already can't wait to go back. Its so nice there and everyone is super friendly. And, thousands of cool fish to play with haha.
My new favorite is the hummingbird tetra (trochilocharax ornatus). Teeny, but the colors are amazing
Awesome. I love new info!!
Great video Bob, looking forward to the next video from Dan's, thank you from NYC
wonderful, hobbyists can find so much joy and so technical on little fish
Smooth Jazzzzz...love it 💕👍
The advantage of internal fertilization -more of the eggs get fertilized and since the female lays them alone, there's less fish around to eat the eggs.
The swordtail tetra was often portrayed in older books (approx. 1970) about the hobby (in german aqu.literature) , the first time I see them at a shop.. Pitty they are so rare here. Thank you for the entertaining documentation. Cheers from Austria.
Awesome video. Pretty cool seeing some rare tetras
Wooooo! New video and with dans fish too! Dopeee
Nice to see videos from you again. If I ever find a place to rehome my Mbuna I will be getting fish from Dan.
Very cool. I have only seen one of those tetras before. Makes me want a very exotic tank.
Looking good Bob and thanks Dan
Awesome video!!
Cool to see these rare Tetra!
Pretty sweet video bob !
I keep some sailfin tetra in my 75 and they are seriously an amazing fish. Their behavior is fun to watch
Thanks!
No no, thank you!!!!
thanks for sharing 💯👍✌️great video. you Dan need to do this at least every 6 months. Y'all make a great combo on freshwater fish.🐬🐟🐠
such cool fish, I remember decades ago that you could occasionally find Swordtail tetras at the LFSs
Ok, those moenkhausia collettii are pretty amazing. It's interesting that the red in the tail fin goes so far up the body. Normally, when the tail color doesn't continue all the way up the body, it is really just limited to the fin it's self. And that oddball one is crazy.
Tetras are my favorite fish in the hobby my whole fishroom is pretty much tetras this video was amazing ❤️❤️
Great fish! Hopefully they'll become more common.
👍😎 Wow couple of those are really cool. Never kept little fish like that, but now I’m scratching my head. Hmmm ✌️
I thought all species were non-unique, until I saw this 😉👍
I have a film and yes a real film of Spraying Characin from the days that I was busy with aquariums a lot... that was 1977 or 1978 wow time flies. I was hoping to see it here again.
Hi the sword tail tetra u talking about we dose catch it in trinidad in our rivers first time seeing it on UA-cam which is so cool am happy to see that
Awesome vid and interesting species. One thing I notice is that some of these species represented act like they could out compete for food in a community tank.
That was fantastic.
hello fishy folks! super cool fish, my dream is to one day go to dans store!
Beautiful fish hope to order from you someday
So beautifull....
I love the splash tetras.
Can you do an updated on red cap moon tetras?
Nice video
Thanks
I may have to get those yellow Congo's,
They look way better in person. Was one of the hardest fish for the camera to detect.
I have 3, they are awesome!!!
So cool❤️🇦🇺
Hi Dan I caught some more sword tail tetra today I wish I could send a video for you to see
I have 5 of the 6 species already!!
Can I have some of the colletti tetras? I’ll breed them for you. Especially that bright one.
My favorite bit was the sloooowwww jaaazzzzz :)
The one with the iriscident scales...keep that one and try to breed it and then breed back and see whether the descendants carry that trait of the gold scales?
Coloration in fishes is typically produced and controlled by specialized cells called chromatophores. The metallic hues exhibited in wild H. rodwayi, on the other hand, are quite different, being produced by a cutaneous reaction to a parasitic trematode. The golden shine can be linked to guanin, a substance that is secreted by the skin as a protection against trematode infestation. This fish appears to be more prone to disease than many other tetras (particularly to skin parasites). However, wild specimens, which (judging from the preponderance of gold “morphs”) usually show evidence of exposure to the parasite, tend not to be carriers and pose no general threat to their tankmates.
first one is añso available in Peru we call them Peruvian Lemon tetra

The gold collet tetra fish has had the same parasite that gives gold tetras there iridescence.
Yoooo
Swordtail Tetras while never common fish, actually are very old to the hobby
1st
I can't wait till I have a another tank set up so I can have more fish!
