    I absolutely adored "A Summer's end - Hong Kong 1986".
But Foregone repulsed me because of off-screen ranged attacks.

I'm not passing this opportunity to tell everyone how much I loved Inmost! I went into it expecting it to be yet another metroidvania, and while it's not entirely wrong to assume that, I was happy to be a little wrong.
It's short enough to be played through in one sitting, which I did mostly because I got hooked into the story. At first I found it quite cheesy and cliche-y, then somewhat confusing and ultimately satisfying once I eventually figured out what was happening behind all the metaphors. If I made a category for "best storytelling in a video game that's not much longer than a movie", this would easily win that award. I will always have a room for it somewhere in the memories department of my brain.
Highly recommended if you find it even remotely interesting in trailers and such and if you have any tolerance for persistently melancholic and gloomy atmospheres in your video games.

Absolutely love Roki - it was one of the first games I got on my Switch. Also loved Inmost.
Sydney and Foregone are in my backlog 😅
Never heard of Evan’s Remain, but immediately bought it - greatly appreciate the vid and highlighting these games!

I remember picking up Evan's Remains on a whim, and I think I enjoyed it; I honestly don't remember much about it, other than the basic mechanics. Foregone is a very different story; I remember liking the demo, and absolutely *loving* the full game. Not only is one of your weapon types *gunchucks* (the correct answer to any situation), but as you gained more abilities, movement felt so good; it's a lot more of a straight-up 2D Platformer than it claims to be, but I felt it did that very well. The more I hear people liken it to Dead Cells, the more I think I might have to bite the bullet and try that one day.

The only one I've played on this list is Foregone and I absolutely loved it. It is an amazing game that I was able to platinum. I have had an eye on Gun Crazy, but never went ahead and bought it.

Inmost was absolutely fantastic. The atmosphere alone pushes you through it super quickly.
Sydney Hunter is another game I wasn't expecting much of, but was also excellent.

Stellar list, a lot of these indie games I have not heard of, which is why I love this channel. I've played Röki and it was great. I definitely recommend it. INMOST and Gun Crazy look awesome. Thanks for a great video! 🤙🏻

Inmost is the only one on the list that I have played, but a rather enjoyed that one and I'll have to check out more of these. Thy Sword looks like it would be the game that Genesis owners hoped Dark Castle would be from looking at still images of the game instead of the steaming pile they actually got by purchasing the game.

Hey, I got Pushy & Pulley on my Xbox! I didn't play it alot (I feel like the save system was bugged, so every time I came back to it I had to start from the first stage and that was annoying), but I liked it regardless. It really is charming... I should probably get back to it at some point; not enough fun arcadey puzzlers come out these days
Never heard of Inmost - probably because it looks like its not on Xbox or Playstation - but definitely intrigued now. When/if it hits more platforms, I'll be sure to check it out.
Sydney Hunter looks like my jam though. I'll probably get around to playing that sooner rather than later - I'm on a bit of a retro kick atm, but I'm currently working through the Cyber Citizen Shockman series now that Ratalaika has just released the fourth and final entry, Shockman Zero. Next time I fire up my Xbox, I'll be sure to add it to the wishlist though
    Thanks for the recommendations IDOI!

I remember passing on Thy Sword because it looked too simple to pick up even though the price is only a couple bucks on sale.
I do agree that Foregone was a fun game, though I would highlight that the game is more an action platformer than a castlevania - as the levels were quite linear as my memory recalls. I think there's backtracking for collectibles... but I'm a bit fuzzy. A good pick.
Roki is on PS Extra right now, if anyone wants to try it.
Hadn't heard about Pushy and Pully or Sydney Hunter. Both are interesting and the former is on sale on PSN. Probably will pick it up on a whim.
I strongly disagree on Evan's Remains. There are few games that I simply cannot recommend, and that is one. The art is nice, and it handles well... However: that story is nonsense after nonsense, flying off the rails into a canyon. I don't remember a game with that many narrative non-sequitors. The gameplay puzzle-platforming sections are too few and far too simple/easy for the amount of story. If one or the other was good, I could recommend it. Though, you could play it if you wanted to deconstruct how it goes wrong. All-in-all, it's a 3 hour game, so you won't have to make a big investment.
If I had to pick an obscure analog to replace Evan's Remains... I'd pick.... hmmmm...The Pedestrian or Gabbuchi. I'd pick VVVVV or Fez, but those are a bit too known. Hard to replace a story in a puzzle platformer (most games don't bother).
Oh! I suppose you could also play "The Missing: J.J. Macfield and the Island of Memories." That one is a solid puzzle platformer, although morbid, with a story that's interesting (whether it's good is another matter.) Yeah, that's my pick.

If only Plants vs Zombies had experimented with a Bomberman/Pengo gameplay style like Pushy Pully instead of going 3D 3rd person shooter. Such a let down.
