@@dmtbtm2809 Exposure to Arcane energy transformed trolls into elves. Were they a different race, or the same race that had been altered by exposure to a magical energy source? Well, what shall we say about Akama, and the other broken? They were Draenei, but within the space of a single generation, they were transformed into completely different-looking creatures through exposure to fel energy. Did Akama belong to one race when he was born, and another race later on?I'm pretty sure that's not how races work. Akama may be called "broken", but he is really a Draenei who has been acted upon by fel energy. And what about Sylvanus? She was, undeniably, an elf. But then she died, and was exposed to death magic, and became what she now is. One minute, she was a high elf, and the next minute she was a Forsaken (though the name "forsaken" had not yet been invented for her race). Is that how races work? Do people suddenly transform from one race to another? No. She may call herself "Forsaken", but she is actually an undead elf. She is an elf who has been acted upon by death magic. When the dark trolls encountered the well of eternity, exposure to the arcane energy changed their physical bodies. At some point, these trolls decided to use a different word to describe themselves-elves. Apparently, at some point they also became ashamed of their troll ancestry, and sought to distance themselves from it. And yet, the ancestry remained. The elves and trolls hated each other, and warred over land and resources. But this certainly does not imply that elves do not have troll ancestors. Trolls fight amongst themselves, and elves fight amongst themselves. So do humans. So do orcs. Speaking of humans and orcs, these two races do not share a common ancestry. The humans have ancestors that were created by the Titan Khaz'goroth, whereas the orcs have ancestors that were created by the Titan Aggramar (in each case, they were created by Titans, not descended from them). A better comparison might be between humans and the Vrykul. These races definitely share a common ancestry, as the Vrykul were a more ancient race-predating humans. And if you trace the ancestry of any human back far enough, you will find a Vrykul. And if you trace the ancestry of any elf back far enough, you will find a troll. And everything the dark trolls did prior to to the "Well of Eternity" event is part of elven past. I repeat, elf history is troll history. And that makes the dark trolls some of the biggest winners in the history of this game.
Night elves started indiscriminately killing trolls, even though they saved Azeroth. After the genocide, the elves decided to have a party with demons.
Having your narration be an actual character with a story, interacting with the environment, is a lot of fun. That was also a really sweet moment at the end, that captured what I love about the entirety of the trolls. All these people have terrible things happen to them, that they (mostly) don't deserve. In their fight to save their old homes, they don't learn new lessons.
@@Skullivander I would be more than happy about an expansion where player characters just keep on losing. I mean all player characters, not faction or race-exclusive, we just become losers for an entire expansion and the next one we start winning again but not easily.

my 24 year old son forced me, his 54 year old mother, to watch this ... I was entertained, I subscribed -- Of all the times I did that instance I never realized the trolls were sacrificing their gods
Warcraft is a pretty easily accessible fantasy universe. It's basically a casual every man's dungeons and dragons. Also, Platinum does help add some brevity to that with his silly humor.
The freeing of Drakuru is by far my favorite quest line. He practically "befriends" you into freeing him, only for his story to finish in Drak'theron Keep and Zul'drak. Interestingly though, at the end of the dungeon you get to see Zul'drak physically change into a scourge foothold.
I love how insanely overpowered Medivh was. Like in theory he had all the possible magic of Azeroth at his disposal (thanks to Kara bein the center of all leylines) and it was the main key of the legion to undo him so that they can even attempt to invade. Even a faint memory he made come to life was a seriously hard boss for the player character. Even in the movie they portrayed him so terrible in compare to all the other content. I mean his half-blood offspring was so powerful he basically could spit atomic bombs. I wish they portrayed him right in one of the caverns of time dungeons.. his opening of the dark portal was a seriously underwhelming terrible disguisting dungeon and I hate it.
you know what Platinum despite the trolls downfall the Darkspears were the most succesful alive and kicking compared to the other trolls and also the raventusk so yeah moral pe the day is if youre allied with the horde ... u are also with the player character so no harm will ever come to you

The trolls can be seen as an ancient empire slowly receding and dying away, while new cultures and civilisations are developing and thriving on their own way to supremacy. It's a bit unfair to compare the trolls at the end of their glory days with the developing powers of the new races with the added powers of the well of eternity. At their peak the United Empire of Zul was the most powerful force ever seen in Azeroth. They actually beat back the combined forces of the olds gods and the united Qiraji empires in The Qiraji Wars. That means the united forces of the Qiraji empire in its glory days + the whole of the Nerubian empire + The klaxxi mantid lords + all the old gods forces and generals.A feat unsurpassed by any. The trolls were the most powerful empire of ancient Azeroth before the Kaldorei. But it has also become the most ancient and old, conquered by new times and new ways. The fact that a few troll forces of power and recognition still lives on, several thousands years later, is a testament to the strength and endurance of the trolls. Though the ever flowing ebbs of time are slowly washing the last troll civilizations away. Unless they are willing to modernize and create new alliances like the Darkspear.
Being a troll in Warcraft means to be trolled by your very existence. Still pretty nice race to play, not gonna lie. The best are troll hunters who hunt trolls while being trolls, 10/10 role play.
The only time the Trolls dominated Azeroth was when they were literally the only intelligent life form. As soon as one of the tribes evolved into something not-Troll (Night Elves) they all fell and never recovered. Even then though, Trolls were so bad, that their descendants the Night Elves attracted the attention of the Burning Legion and were pretty much destroyed by the not-Troll newcomers, Orcs and Humans.
The opening of the Dark Portal isn't 70 years after the Gurubashi attacked Stormwind, because that would've meant that Llane, Lothar and Medivh were around 90-100 when Warcraft 1 began. Also, Vol'jamba's prohecy was right, since it involved Zul attacking and destroying Zandalar, that's why Zul wanted the players to silence him because his prophecy could've alerted Rastakhan of Zul's coming betrayal. Only reason as to why Vol'jamba's prophecy wasn't unfolded was because the players stopped Zul. And the Drakkari fought the Argent Crusade; not the Argent Dawn.
Here before the spider mount drops for him in Mechagon. Tho I'm sure I could have commented this even at the end of the next expansion. . . . . . . . . . . . . . *Completionist stream AM I RIGHT GUYS?*
U Did a awesome cinematic like documentary. Keep up the good work. I love your Videos they high quality and i think all can See what work u put in That Videos.
These videos just serve as proof of Blizzard's crappy writing. All they ever do with the trolls is make them evil and turn them into loot pinatas or kill off their significant characters.
Trolls are my favorite race but what you said is dumb. Is Lord of the Rings written poorly just because almost all dwarves are corrupt?, or because all orcs are evil? or because almost all hobbits are lazy buffoons? No. Stop circlejerking ya dummies.
I don't think it's crappy writing in of itself the concept that not every race is going to be prospering and have all the luck in the world, especially when there's fierce competition for limited land and resources and theirs dozens of sentient species all vying for dominance or atleast try to carve out niches for themselves. (doesn't mean they'll always succeed..)
It's less about making them evil and more like players can never truly lose because well players hate losing so ofcourse they're preordained to win everything and always come out on top even if that involves ass pulls or Deus Ex Machina. Pretty much any side the players are on is always going to be the winners when pitted against a NPC faction or group or individual no matter how powerful they are, no matter how much Blizzard says how clever they are nor how long they've spent planning out things, no matter how many contingencies they may have devised it'll all come to nothing when players are involved. The only time players might actually lose something (narratively and or even in-game content wise) is when it's players on one story faction vs players on the other story faction.
Me again. Sorry I know, sounding like a broken record but... It's also to do with poor worldbuilding in regards to the implications of ULTRA powerful magic existing within the setting. Literally no one in-universe seems to understand, appreciate, and respect the supreme power of magic and magic (in its various forms) is quite frankly stupidly overpowered rendering pretty much any side that doesn't have their own bullsh*t magic get absolutely destroyed by other groups that do have ample bullsh*t magic. Things like tactics and logistics or even just raw numbers means NOTHING if magic is involved, so magic is the be all, end all of everything, if a commander of an army doesn't account for magic and accept its awsome power then they can never hope to win a single battle let alone a war. Ofcourse even if a faction accounts for and utilizes magic it won't matter the minute a named character with bullsh*t magic that's even more ridiculously ovepowed shows up such as the case with Medivh, the former guardian, characters like him render strategy irrelevant and turn capable leadership that isn't a major lore character into complete pushovers, basically getting *"warfed"* to show of a character's power level. (killing any tension in the story up to the point before they showed up)
Holy Crap that Medivh Karazhan remix isn't what I thought I needed in my life but its beautiful and certainly is a welcome treat. Not to mention the Dark Souls cameo with Jindo the Godbreaker, great video man! Very entertaining.
Also Malaka'raz isn't the final Drakkari that is living, it could be speculated that there are more in Northrend. And even if there is not, the Icetusk Tribe ARE Drakkari that simply fled Northrend when the Scourge first became a threat to their people, so they live on but under a different name.

The elves know it, because they keep trolling the rest of us.
@@lhfirex Ha! Good one!

I love seeing Jerma in other videos. He's grown so much in popularity. The most genuine and funny person on the Twitch/UA-cam IMO.
you know what Platinum despite the trolls downfall the Darkspears were the most succesful alive and kicking compared to the other trolls and also the raventusk so yeah moral pe the day is if youre allied with the horde ... u are also with the player character so no harm will ever come to you

I did not expect to see Jesse Cox in this video. He looked like such a young baby at Blizz Con! Great video as always
Oh lord the icon has spoken 🙏🙏

Hey there is one happy story in this. The Darkspear tribe became the players, and thus the ones beating up the other troll factions.
Being a troll in Warcraft means to be trolled by your very existence. Still pretty nice race to play, not gonna lie. The best are troll hunters who hunt trolls while being trolls, 10/10 role play.

This is so well done! Great editing and storytelling! :)
Wow. You really brought out the lore of the troll dungeons ive run 10000 times. I had no idea what the backstory was. Awesome video.
To be fair tho orcs and humans are both evolutions of titancreations made to destroy things the titans didn't like soo..

The entirety of Troll history is one long continuous Bruh Moment
What I learned? Always go to war with Trolls. If you don't then someone else will take their land.

OMG that edm Karazhan theme is dope. Please gib full version
These videos just serve as proof of Blizzard's crappy writing. All they ever do with the trolls is make them evil and turn them into loot pinatas or kill off their significant characters.
The old God Activision did it
Trolls are my favorite race but what you said is dumb.
