It's actually not all that strange for an artillery piece to be oriented that way, and it was something that was done on real vehicles during WW2 (such as the Archer tank destroyer if you're curious). basically it would allow the crew to fall back without wasting time turning around, and also allow them to keep their guns pointing towards the enemy the entire time! which as you can imagine is quite useful for an artillery piece like the arquitor.

Heya Folks, it's me the slow-mo dude from last week. Just yer weekly reminder to watch this video, comment and then rewatch at 0.25% speed! It'll keep the engagement for the channel super high!
Funnily enough the idea of a vehicle with physically thinner armour having effectively thicker armour is a real thing- modern tanks have an “effective armour thickness,” which is how thick steel (I think) armour would need to be as effective as whatever they actually use for armour (such as depleted uranium alloy, or Ceramite in the case of 40k). So quite often the effective thickness of vehicle A’s armour can be considerably higher than that of vehicle B’s, even if the latter’s armour is physically much thicker. Of course, that has absolutely no bearing on a fictional tank, and as you say visual language is extremely important in a wargame, so I 100% agree that it should have an armour value in game that reflects how thick it looks. Great video btw! Just subscribed and very keen to see more Alpha Legion!
Maybe the weak armour is linked to the likelihood to ignite the ammunition. Like the russian tank turret that fly up during the Ukraine war. This jack-in-the-box effect destroy a tank that would be otherwise just damage the tank. They just had a remove the limited ammunition rule.
All of that is true and makes sense, but makes a little less sense in the context of a space marine tank with roughly the same armor layout and design as other similar space marine tanks. Given its narrative description, it seems really unlikely they're just skimping on ceramite for this linebreaker

I find it funnier because, this is most definitely an Death Guard Plagueburst Crawler BEFORE the heresy/'papa nurgle's gifts', and its wild that such strong vehicle originates from... *this.* Althought, I dont think this was actually pre-heresy, since it looks so similar to an Sicaran hull my guess *these* were created the same time when the Heresy Armor pattern was created; essentially made to resolve the need for mobile assault guns, the StuG way from WW2.

As someone who has been struggling with my first multi-part resin mini recently, I am extremely grateful you kept that tiny bit in the video where a triangle pinged off out of frame when you were glueing the chaos trim to the tank.
I think part of the problem for me personally is that I love seeing you guys undertake massive projects, and normal kits and such a bit less because I have enough of that in my daily life, but those big projects are also the videos that are the most time consuming and expensive to make. I know a kindred spirit to the Tau Sky Ray Missile Defence Platform when I see it, the limited ammo rule and only hitting on 6s (unless you were shooting at something painted with markerlights) combined with the fact that the kit had all the parts to build a Hammerhead with the infamour rail cannon meant that the Sky Ray never saw the table until the 9th edition codex when they got rid of those issues

I'm so glad to hear things are moving in a positive direction for you guys! Love the added 3d modeled bits! Something I'm curious to see you guys try since you're already very familiar with pigment powders is soft pastels. I've noticed a lot of cross over in hobby materials in different customizing worlds (doll/model horse) and most of them use soft pastels to achieve a softer more lifelike look to their skin tones and furs. I really want to make an armored company of guard with as many weird forgeworld tanks possible. I think that would be really fun to play, but probably not very good.
Several ways to fix this, imho: - Just run it as something else. Seriously. If Games Workshop screws their customers over in terms of playability, we owe them NOTHING in terms of playing along with their stupid fucking rules. WYSIWYG sounds good on paper until you start thinking about it a little more and it devolves into GW just sucking money out of its customers as they make model after model obsolete and feeding into FOMO and ultimately making the game less approachable for new players or players with less disposable income. - Use it in narrative play. A lot of old Forgeworld units were either godawful and pointless or they were stupidly overpowered or just broke any sense of scale. BUT, using them in narrative scenarios can be a lot of fun, especially if the scenarios are asymmetrical or something. - And of course, the old chestnut: never buy units because they're powerful. Buy them because you like them. Already a win here!
Or you could just modify the rules slightly so that it's a viable choice .. It either needs increased range. Or it needs more speed and durability so that it can realistically survive long enough to get into position. As it stands, it's too slow, to soft, and has too short a range. The exact same problem it had in 1.0.
I wonder what good alternatives to Games Workslop rulesets have decent adoption. I haven't been able to get into any local gaming shops since I mixed to another state to see what's being plates around here
I painted some loyalist Alpha Legion with a similar scheme and it looks fire!!! Purple undercoat, drybrush gunmetal to silver then a thin Akhelian Green coat. Was also very curious if it'd work on bigger models and this video answered my question! Looks amazing!

As it stands, it's too slow, to soft, and has too short a range. The exact same problem it had in 1.0.
Or don't pay their prices and print 😊
I wonder what good alternatives to Games Workslop rulesets have decent adoption. I haven't been able to get into any local gaming shops since I mixed to another state to see what's being plates around here
@@Grandwigg It varies so much by local scene. Best option is probably to try and host your own "learn this cool game!" event at your store.
I will never get over how much I love Dave's Alpha legion paint scheme. It is soooo cool. Non-coloshift Colorshift FOREVER!!!!!
That's very kind thankyou
Sometimes the beauty of the project is enough. great build
God damn, the final product looks incredible, too. Makes me want to buy this heinous, unplayable block of FW resin.
Thankyou it was a treat
I painted some loyalist Alpha Legion with a similar scheme and it looks fire!!! Purple undercoat, drybrush gunmetal to silver then a thin Akhelian Green coat. Was also very curious if it'd work on bigger models and this video answered my question! Looks amazing!
Yessss!
I do really like the design of that tank, and i totally agree on purple alpha legion. Great job!
I don't work with models a lot (lack of time) but I really enjoyed the proces. Let's support the algorithm💪
I love your Alpha Legion paint scheme and being able to use them in two times. The tank looks great for a model that won’t see any use.
Glad to be of support. I've signed up on the Patreon as of the last video, and I'm here to stay. You guys do some of the best content out there and I will suffer torture at the hands of Drukhari before I see your hard work unrewarded
And speaking of Drukhari, can we get some more of Jenn's cool Drukhari?
If you guys haven't seen it yet then Majorkill uploaded a video talking about you guys situation
and giving his thoughts and some suggestions that you might want to give a watch... 😊
We were talking about it on discord, they've seen it.
Wow this is awesome! I'd play it just to play a tank painted like that. Amazing job!
Love you guys ❤️
Probably should've said this earlier but your guys' channel is what got me to take a bit more interest in 40K (not quite a rabbit hole, it's a bit too depressing even for me) and come up with some fan factions. I currently use Heroforge as I don't yet have the artistic talent I need to bring my ideas to fruition but wanted you to know that you guys are what made me give this kind of thing a shot
Thankyou, that's lovely to hear! It all just takes practice and we wish you luck
@@TabletopTime Thanks, for context one is the Sun Dragons (White Scars chapter based around samurai and bushido, with some fallen ones turning to Khorne and donning Oni-like visages) and the other is the Legion of Fortune (too much explaining to be done for this one so I'll leave as wandering space biker mercenary gang)
Keep up the good work TTT! Your videos are some of the best 40k content on the internet.
amazing stuff gang, hoping that this channel stays up since its some of the best produced content for warhammer
That's so nice for you to say thankyou
Damn thats thick, the 'THUNK' when it hit the table
Resin tanks are SO heavy, and the paint rubs off them easily when handled too, need a good topcoat
Always love a good painting and personalizing project.
Love the paint scheme, the logo and lore!
Another good reason to play OnePageRules. You can decide which profile to use and/or create your own custom, points balanced modem stats.
Nice job on the paint job. To bad it's a resin paper weight. Love the additional symbols you made for the tank.
Love the explanation of your scheme and Legion is likely the only book that makes me feel anything for the enigma of Alpha Legion
I mean, I got one of the smaller Horus Heresy Landraiders and use it to proxy a 40k landraider because I like it more. Always go for cool minis to put together than go meta.
This looks like a really good model. I hope that all goes well. I cant support financially but i hope that tabletop time will still be going strong. Very nice.
I love the hours heresy content. It's such a cool and fun (and brutal) game with some really awesome game mechanics. It has all the flavor of older 40k with its own gameplay style.
Never even heard of this tank, do think it looks pretty geeat though
Thats why I wanted to share it - lots of people probably didn't even know it existed
Same here. It's really cool looking! I agree, it looks like it's hard as nails. And even though I kind of hate when the newer things are OP, for a special Forge world model, you'd expect it to perform well in game. Whatever. Great vid!
Really cool painting video, I get the why the Arquitor isn’t awesome but it sure does look really cool.
Great paintjob on the tank, shame it will probably spend its entire life on a shelf instead of on the gameboard. LEt us hope it gets better rules sometimes in the future.
Nice! Glad yall didnt stop!
We are part time now and going to try to make it work as long as we can, and do as best we can. Only possible thanks to everyone's support!
Woof, that paint scheme looks so fantastic.
I wish you all the best. Discovered your channel a few months ago and binged all your content!
This morning, I signed up for your patreon to help out a bit. Good luck!
Thank you, TTT, for making such fun and enjoyable videos!
Yay! Also I love unpopular stuff. I went and found a Stalker on eBay needing some love. Raven Guard love shooting stuff from range.
I didn’t leave it on the last video but I’ll leave it here. I hope you can actually make it. You’re one of my favs. I don’t have money to support you at the moment so I hope these words will do. You are amazing and you’ve even inspired me to do more kitbashing. I just know you’ll live on, because it’s always… tabletop time
Thankyou for your views and support, it all helps. We hope so too!
So glad you guys are still carrying on! ❤
I think my group and I are finally going to play our first 40k tabletop game soon, but the big thing we are looking forward to is a custom chapter color scheme once we all get Space Marine 2.
So stoked for space marine 2
Great to hear good news!!!!!
Temps me to add some HH vehicles to my Black legion army. Awesome work and the logo is stunning! ❤
Thankyou!!
