Hi Charles. Now that is odd, as the 6S was definitely $150 when I looked. I have just, in this last minute, looked again and the 6S is $120 with the T2 at $150. Anyway, thanks for the comment. I will pin this and try to adjust the title. Thanks very much.
Both are good 'first razors' for people new to traditional DE shaving, because of the 6 options on the 3 base plates. I have the 6C in 'gunmetal' finish.
I would also suggest a vintage Gillette Tech to a beginner. The Tech can be "adjusted" per blade choice: choose a Feather blade for more efficiency, or go with a milder blade such as a Derby. Either way, the efficiency of the Tech will complete the job quite nicely imho.
Nice comparison. I have the 6c, and love it. Its my favorite razor. Its what i used today, along with proraso red. Which for me is my favorite proraso blend. Have a great week 👍
My man! What a shave. Proraso red is one I haven't tried! Sh... Don't tell anyone. 😀 I prefer other scents to sandalwood, but it is very popular. Great products. Cheers.👍
@@FriendshipShaving usually keep my 6S on the 4 plate for regular shaving, once a couple of days. The 6C I keep on the 3 plate, usually for Feather blades or for daily shaves if they are ever required. Have a great week. 👍
Mark the 6c is a lovely shave my first one didn't last long the threads went in no time but my second has been fine. If I had known then what I know now I would have bought the S but it is what it is. Keep up the good work and keep well and keep safe.
Hi Mark, Another great video as usual 😀 I bought the 6s for $80 shipped on Black Friday from Rockwell's website. It must be one of the greatest razors ever regardless of price. Second favourite is my new Rex Envoy, another stainless (mild but with some blade exposure). Take care and hope you're feeling better soon 👍👍👍
Hi Steve. That's a good price for the 6S! It does have a lovely feel to, with that extra little weight. It's a very good razor. I like it! It was great to be a letter to borrow it; thank you very much. Thanks for the well wishes too. Much appreciated! Cheers mate 👍
Thank you Paul. I appreciate your well wishes, mate. It was nice to make a video. I find it gives me something good else to focus on, and it's always nice to have a shave. Cheers.👍
Hi Mark- Great shave and razor comparisons video; thank you! I have the Rockwell 6C in white chrome. It’s a great razor to use. I have also shaved with the 6S, and the drag on the stainless steel razor due to the bead blasting was a bit off-putting. I did appreciate the added heft of the 6S, but I much prefer the smooth gliding of the chrome when all is said and done. The den is looking very nice on video and the coordinated shirt and towel were quite a nice touch! I hope you are feeling better quickly, too. Be safe and be well. See you on Friday and all the best, my friend!
Hi Mike. That's what it is, isn't it? 😁 The bead blasting creates, although we might not be able to see it, a surface that is not smooth. As most stainless steel razors come without being polished to the extent of a chrome plated razor, that must be what causes that slight drag. That makes sense! Lightbulb moment. Thanks very much for dropping me a line. I so tired mate! I hope you are doing very well. Take good care of yourself. Cheers, Mike.
Cool vid mark. I'd like a St st de. But happy with my crome models. Maybe one day. Great thing about De razors Is they pretty darn strong and resilient. No throwing in the dump.....and, after a couple of years, I haven't chucked anything....all my used blades are still in a small mug. 😁
Stainless steel is the fashion these days, but a chrome plated brass razor or even chrome plated zinc alloy will last for years. I'm sure, if well looked after we are talking decades, for a very small price. There's a lot to said for that. I think the stainless steel market is perhaps still a niche market.
Great comparison shave Mark. The 6s is my favourite modern razor. Although, for the last 6 weeks I've only used my straight razor since it arrived. Still trying to master it. 🏴👍
Thanks for the extra shave video Mark. I have the 6c and just love it, one of my top 5 DE razors to use, the adjustabilty is terrific, I recently moved up to plate #4 (from #3) as my normal shaving plate and often switch to #2 for final pass &/or pickups. I don't feel there's any need for me to upgrade to a SS 6s version. Proraso soaps are great performers for their price, I particularly like the red and white ones. Hope your feeling better soon.👍🙂🤟
Thank you for the well wishes. Much appreciated. The 6C is a great razor. I was glad to have the opportunity to share experiences with this 6S, but like you, I'm very happy with my 6C and don't feel the need to upgrade. 😊
Hello Mark, please, what do you recommend between the Matte black Rockwell 6S and the natural color (Inox)? I’d be curious to know how the PVD coating is holding up Thank you
I don't have the black 6S, but I believe that that PVD coating is electrically applied, and pretty permanent (at least, this is my understanding). I have had other PVD razors that were great. I know that doesn't really help. Perhaps the guys at Rockwell, would be able to give a better answer. All the best.
Hi Mark. Nice comparison. Sorry to hear you are feeling a bit under the weather. Hope you feel better quickly. Love the new camera position by the way.
Howdy Mark! I’m sorry you are not well at the moment. I’ve been fighting a stomach flu of sorts myself. Just plain yucky feeling. 🤢🤮 I’ve shaved with both razors you highlighted and I agree that the 6S is a tad smoother. Not by much as you said. Get well soon my friend and have a great rest of your week. My best to you and your Mom. 👍🏼🤠👍🏼
I'm sorry to read you have stomach flu, Bradley. That is horrid. I wish you well. I have done too much, and triggered a setback - I've been here before, but then I hurt my back bending over! Oh - to be young again! Take good care, my friend. Look after yourself.
Great comparison. Great razors, designed in 🇨🇦 Canada 🦫, the 2C/6C is Made in China and the 6S is Made in the USA. I currently only own the 6C, but it already does a terrific job for me on base-plate R3. In my opinion Proraso offers a fair priced top-notch line-up of “off the shelf” / “industrial” shaving products which are even better than some of the more expensive artisanal products. If you have a chance check out the Proraso “Single Blade” line, which is about supporting straight razor shaves (but it also works with DE razors). Get well soon!
Hi Tommy. I didn't actually realise that the 6S was made in the States. If it was stated on their website, then I missed it entirely! It's a pretty good price for a US made product. I did have a look at the SE line, ooh - ages ago. I felt the azure lime was good but didn't really smell of anything much. I guess that is Proraso in a nutshell 😀 Cheers buddy.
This camera angle gives the presentation a more personal perspective. Plus when you do straight edge it will give us straight edge shaky boys better instruction angle. The Macy is still my favorite brush.
Thanks Ray. I hadn't yet thought about the straight razor, with this new angle; it does seem that I am a bit a bit closer to the camera so I hope it will help the shaky boys 😀 They did a good job on the Macy!
I don't have a Rockwell "Anything" but I have conducted the occasional "Shootout" between virtual twins such as ; the USA Gillette Knack against the British Gillette Slim Twist or the Eversharp Eagle vs the Schick Krona and so forth. I basically had the same result as you. The razors were dead even in all aspects with no or extremely marginal differences that were most likely due to subtle variations in shaving but at the end of the day; they were Fun Experiments to try.
There may be some information here, that people do find useful; I hope there is, but it was also a nice experiment and very enjoyable, just as you have tried yourself. Good fun! It's nice to bring a little variety to our shaves, however we do it. 😀
Nice comparison shave Mark! I have the 6s and it's one of my favorites. I think you can't go wrong picking either the 6c or the 6s, just depends on personal preference over what material you want it to be made from or the color. Have a good one! Steve
I totally agree, Steve. Either one is brilliant. I think, for the price, the 6C is still very good value indeed. Looked after, I think it would last decades. Cheers buddy.
Just picked up a 6S for $81 inc tax from Amazon, it was a Fathers Day deal on top of already being discounted to $96. Sadly back to $120 now. I hoping it’s as good as the reviews make out, if so I believe I got a killer deal!
Great comparison Mark. Some shavers say that the 6c has better glide than the 6s. I have the 6c and love it. The only stainless steel razor I have is the Game Changer .84 and that glides very nicely because it's polished stainless where as the 6s is bead blasted.
Hi Andrew. I think you have hit the nail on the head here, so to speak. I'm sure any razor with a highly polished finish has better glide - it makes perfect sense to me, anyway.
Hope you feel better Mark. I am sick myself with something like a cold or allergies. Thanks for the comparison shave. I have the 6s and like it a lot. Super smooth. Plate 4 is currently the sweet spot for me as well. I almost got the gunmetal 6c but opted for the durability of the USA made 6c and got it for $80 (20% off $100) before the price hike this year. It’s cast and not CNC like the Razorock GC but that is ok. It kinda reminds me of a tank or a gray battleship. Shoutout to Lee with the towels and shirt made me laugh - good stuff. Take care!
I'm sorry to read you are not well; illness from allergies are not to be underestimated. As for myself - I'm falling apart 😁I'll get back to my normal soon enough, thanks. Two very nice razors in this shave. Both very enjoyable - they've put the prices up recently but $80. That's a great buy! Cheers.
The 6C/6S comparison is interesting. I like chrome and stainless both. Lately I've picked chrome when given a choice. Now I'm not so sure which type of Rockwell 6 I would opt for. I could see myself thinking the same as you. Thanks for the shave, Mark, and I hope you're feeling better by the time you read this.
Hi Warren. I normally like a brighter finish but, over the last few years, have come to appreciate a satin stainless steel look. Two very good razors - no doubt. I am coming along mate, thanks for the good wishes. All the very best, my friend.
I do like your new camera setup. A nice comparison shave too. I liked my 6C so much that I bought the 6S on Amazon Prime Day for $80 USD. Like you, I've done a side-by-side comparison. I did think there was a very slight difference in the feel of the two razors. However, the result was the same...a smooth, comfortable, close shave. The 6S has been my daily driver since it replaced my 6C. The plate combination I most often use is R3/R1. If I have 2-3 days of growth, I will use the R4 plate for pass one and switch to the R3 plate for pass 2. I find the R1 plate is best for pass 3 and pickups. BTW, my Sunday shave was also an all-Proraso one. If you like the Proraso Green splash, you would really like PAA's "Awesome Sauce" soap which smells just like the splash. That is if the slight menthol addition in the soap doesn't bother you. I also agree that the 6C razor would be an excellent beginner's razor because it's like getting 6 razors in one. I'm sure anyone can find a plate combination that works. Hope you are feeling better. Take care.
Hi. I've had so many comments, mentioning the new angle, that I am going to keep it that way. Thanks for letting me know. It's great to have that feedback. $80 is a great price. It is listed as $120, on the Rockwell website today with the T2 at $150. Very odd. Lovely razor - $80 is brilliant! I had a little sample of Awesome Sauce - it certainly was awesome sauce. Thanks for the well wishes. They are much appreciated. I have setbacks such as this occasionally. Cheers.👍 Enjoy your week.
@@FriendshipShaving I bought my 6S before the Rockwell price increases. I think the regular price was $99 on Amazon. I was just lucky to spot the $80 price on Amazon Prime Day. That's when I do a lot of my "serious" shopping for higher-priced items.

If I didn't mention it, I would be surprised as I definitely normally do. I know a lot of guys are very interested in the blades and how they perform, myself included. Cheers butty.
I found the 6C had serious cosmetic flaws (could catch nail on them and some were one the baseplate bar) while the 6S was pristine and flawless. Think the U.S. vs. China manufacturing difference is large.
I'm sorry to read that you had such a bad razor. Mine isn't like that at all, although, if it was, it would have a bad review. These two razors looked comparable, given the differences in material. Interesting to read your thoughts.
@@FriendshipShaving Thank you for sharing your experience. Rockwell gave me a lot of hassle on the return despite their supposed "no hassle" return policy. Lots of back and forth emails and I often had to wait many, many days for a response after most emails I sent. I often had to follow up to prompt a reply. They wanted pictures, etc. The pictures showed clear and very obvious defects but they denied they could see them. Sent more pictures with close ups that were even more obvious. From the first email, I just wanted a return label and finally got one. I am still waiting for the refund over a month after mailing the razor back.
I have encountered a situation, with email, like you described; I hate it when a company doesn't provide good customer service and doesn't follow through on it's promise. I think, in the UK, we have the statutory right to a refund, when buying unseen. I hope this works out for you very soon. Good luck.
Hey mate. I find the Rockwell 6C to be a very good modern razor; the head plates a little chunky, but they've never presented me with any problem, under the nose, as I tend to come in at a slight diagonal. What I like about the 6C, is that even on the most aggressive head, the shave is comfortable and never outrageously aggressive, so it allows one to really try all the shave settings to find the one you find most comfortable and most effective. I think you've made a good choice. Enjoy 👍
If I were to ditch all of my razors except 5, the 6S would be in my top 5. If you look at other razors and the price of additional plates that you must purchase this razor is a bargain.
This is absolutely true! I was looking at a razor just the other day and to buy all the plates, that come as standard in the 6s/c would cost a fortune! It is a great razor. Even on setting six which, on any other razor would be too aggressive I get a great shave. Awesome.
Hi good afternoon im a new viewer and member in this safety razor world. Iike shaving bald head and face. I got recently the gillette king c safety razor and the merkur 34c but i used them in both areas and it seems to leave me wiht hair. I just received today the leaf razor. I havent try it yet. I have a bunch of sampler blades. Dorco,Astra, gillette king c, feather, and 100 pack of Derby extra. I love to see videos and i like yours. By yours experience as your new friend. What kind of razor or razors do you recommend for me. For a really closest shave. And what kind of blade should i use for every 2 days shave.
Hello Julio. It's a difficult question as each of us has different qualities to our skin, depending on our age; health; working environment etc. I hope the Leaf suits you, but if it doesn't, from your earlier comments, I would try the Mühle R41. Especially if you consider that you have tough or coarse growth. Blades are different for everyone. The Astra blades you mentioned seem to be well liked. I don't like the Derby blades - I always nick myself, despite my experience. Feather are very sharp - have you tried the Feather blade in the King Gillette razor? Are you shave I got against the grain on one of your passes?
Rockwell 6c .. Rockwell 6s If I ever give up all my razors I think I will always keep this But then again my Merkur 34c it’s so hard to give that one up .. it’s one of those razors that I would stick in my pocket and not let know one know I still have it 😂
@@cesrarflores 3 plate = Merkur 34c .. if you ever want it more aggressive just put a shim on your 34c .. you can put up to 3 shims .. I wouldn’t pass 3 .. but I would say this about about Rockwell 6c is very smooth the 6s not as smooth … I also noticed that even if it’s the same razor the shave is not the same the 6s is a little more aggressive then 6c .. like if I shave with number 4 plate with 6s .. I have to shave with 5 plate with 6c to get the same shave .. happy shaving

Glad you're on the mend.
That's when I do a lot of my "serious" shopping for higher-priced items.
nice lather sir!
Thank you kindly. All the best.

I may have missed it but I don't think you mentioned what blade you were using in these razors. Would be nice to know please.
If I didn't mention it, I would be surprised as I definitely normally do. I know a lot of guys are very interested in the blades and how they perform, myself included. Cheers butty.
12:38 Wilkinson sword, the German ones.
Perfect💈👌
Cheers
Good luck.
Your hot, Mark?
It was 31c at 07:00 this morning when I had my mentholated shave. It saved the day, for sure.
That is quite mild weather your having out there, Lee 😂😂 I bet it did save the day!
Hi mate what your thoughts on someone has been using Gillette for years how does Rockwell weigh up, and now i have just ordered the Rockwell 6C
Enjoy 👍
@@FriendshipShaving Thank you for the information

Rockwell 6s
If I ever give up all my razors I think I will always keep this
But then again my
Merkur 34c it’s so hard to give that one up ..
it’s one of those razors that I would stick in my pocket and not let know one know I still have it 😂
They are both great razors, Ralph. I have so many really lovely razors I think I would have a hard job to decide! I'm sure I would. All the best.
Hi, which plate is compared to 34 c
@@cesrarflores 3 plate = Merkur 34c .. if you ever want it more aggressive just put a shim on your 34c .. you can put up to 3 shims .. I wouldn’t pass 3 .. but I would say this about about Rockwell 6c is very smooth the 6s not as smooth … I also noticed that even if it’s the same razor the shave is not the same the 6s is a little more aggressive then 6c .. like if I shave with number 4 plate with 6s .. I have to shave with 5 plate with 6c to get the same shave .. happy shaving
thank you I appreciate it
