Found this out about the blade gaps on the Rockwell 6S, hope its helpful: R1: 0.008" (0.20 mm) R2: 0.014" (0.35 mm) R3: 0.019" (0.48 mm) R4: 0.024" (0.61 mm) R5: 0.027" (0.69 mm) R6: 0.031" (0.79 mm)
Thank you for the gaps, very smooth, a factor is missing about the blade exposure, and Rockwell remains a hot Pic, I would consider a must to have in a collection but also for a definitive one, with a Gamechanger 84p closed, Merkur 37c for slant, and a muhle R41.
I have 20 razors and the rockwell 6s and 6c are the best shaves I have ever gotten. I also shave my head without fear using the Rockwells. The Rockwell is also much cheaper. That said, I purchased the Karve CB because I have heard the same high praise. I cannot wait to try my Karve CB. These two razors are the most highly praised razors on the internet. Rockwell deserves that praise, and I cannot wait to see if the CB does as well !
Interesting comparsion, For me Rockwell 6S is much better razor. I found that Karve has a narrow shaving angle so especially around neck area I found it a bit tricky. I sold Karve and kept Rockwell.
Your absolutely right Rockwell Rocks 6S 💈👍🏼 I just got my polished in my workshop I meant polished top plate all 3 plates stand and handle wow.. What a difference in glide this razor is amazing and sure took me two days to get all done professionally but it was well worth it.. I posted a video I’m not pro in editing making video but did for Rockwell 6s fans I’m waiting for my Karve Razor with stand and will polish that one too I’m curious tho shave wise Alan
I bought my 6s from Matt at Razor Emporium and had them polish it. It's an amazing razor. The polishing makes it glide better according to most of what I've heard.
The Rockwell plate 3 has a blade gap of 0.48 mm while the B Plate on the Karve is 0.78mm. I would expect the Karve to be more efficient. Plate 6 on the Rockwell has a blade gap of 0.79. May be a better comparison???
The Virtual Groomroom Well that’s a new one on me!! Blade exposure (positive or negative) and blade gap are two measures utilized in the industry to quantify the efficiency and feel of safety razors. I understand what you mean but face feel isn’t something that everyone can relate to as it is a personal thing. I might try plate 5 or 6 as a comparison.
Great shave and good compare. I have both karve and 6s as well as the RR gamechanger and mamba. I find the RR razors smooth but somehow daily driver has become the Rockwell thanks to multiple base plates. The Karve has a feature to keep the blade very rigid and also avoid blade feedback or something it's called , wherein when the blade meets the hair some flex is created and the Karve takes care of this to keep blade with zero movement ! Keep those videos coming ! PS. Would be great if you out the plate number / alphabet in the video description!
I just tried a Rockwell 6C for the first time...Best shave in my life! I also ordered the Karve...it should arrive by Christmas.lol Can't wait to do this same competition between these two! Then I'll be set. I'm not a hobbyist. I just want the best possible shave that doesn't require me to spend $1K or the next 6 months of my life trying to figure it out! Thanks for your videos. They saved me a lot of time, money, and effort!
Great comparison shave. Kevy did a comparison between the Rockwell 6C (chrome) and the 6S (stainless). He found that the 6S has a slightly bit more tuggy just because of the finish. You might try the same comparison. The blade gaps between the two plates you compared are quite different: Karve Plate B: 0.73mm Rockwell Plate 3: 0.48 mm To get close to the same blade gap of the Karve, you'd need either the 5 (0.69mm) or 6 plate (0.79 mm) on the Rockwell. I've got a 2C in gunmetal, but I also purchased a 2/4 plate. I shave most days and generally stay with the 2 side of the 2/4 plate. However, if I've gone a couple of days without shaving, I'll start with the 4 side of the 2/4 plate for the first pass (and sometimes the second pass), but then I switch to the 2 side of the 2/4 plate. I have no issues is switching sides or plates (I've gone from the 3 side of the 1/3 plate that came with the 2C and switched it out for the 2 side of the 2/4 plate). That's what I buy an adjustable razor -- to change the blade gap during the shave -- to get the best shave possible.
I would say you use it the way it's probably supposed to be but I can speak for myself and a lot of others and say that we find a couple of plates and stick with those.

Jack Gillespie For me, it was for comparable face feel. Not so much efficiency I guess. I felt as if these 2 plates were similarly matched in face feel and my shave confirmed it.
I’ll be ordering a Karve next month stainless steel plate B and on my Rockwell I use plate 3 and still have some stubble left.. Hope I won’t have irritation by karve?? Alan
I don't have a Karve yet, although I plan on buying the stainless steel version when it comes out. I do own a Rockwell 6s and I can say quite confidently that it is a badass razor that could work as someone's one and only razor. It is very user friendly and works quite well for me.
It happens, I would re-upload it but re-rendering the 4K footage takes forever lol. I think the fact the blade gap is quite a bit larger and it's still smoother only shows how well it's designed.
So you used the three plate on the 6s and the B plate on the Karve? Do they feel similar in blade feel? Would you say they are pretty close to each other, in terms of feedback?
Great comparison and some really good points. I don’t have either razor, but my Karve OC B plate should be here this week.... and I did some research and found that that combo would be the same blade gap as my Fatboy on setting 4 which is my shaving perfection so essentially this razor should feel like a “custom” that’s perfectly suited for my taste. Now the Rockwell does give a great value with all the plates coming with the razor, but like you said... once a person is set on a certain plate and feel, they will probably seldom change it up. Great shave.
I own the Karve as well as the Rex Ambassador and I have to say that despite the money that I paid for the Rex the Karve gives me a better shave every time I have plates B threw E and I usually use plates C&E. Thanks for the video Oh the only thing about the Karve that I wish it didn’t have is the razor blade tabs expose unlike the Rex but I trim the tabs ends off of my blades when I’m using my Karve so I don’t get that tabs expose and nick myself. Cheers.
Ok Karve is smooth but what about irritation?? Let’s be honest sure Karve is nice Razor and you work for them I get it all... When it comes down I look for irritation free razor Rockwell Guarantees that 💈👍🏼 Great video

Ok I see, some brush Handel's are just comftable regardless of the grip but I guess with some you need to hold it a particular way, how does it compare with other brushes you have in terms of comfort ? Also what knot did you get and is it good ? Sorry for the question just haven't seen you do a review on this brush
Vicarado Lorenzo I didn't do a review on the brush because he has so many handle options to allow people to choose what's right for them. The likelyhood that we get the same brush is very low.

The stainless steel Karve is now out, so it would be interesting to see the comparison with this and the Rockwell. I watched a video with Chris (owner of Karve razors) and he commented that the stainless steel would have ever so slightly more glide than the brass.

What plate for the Rockwell?
Tell you what man I knew the Karve was gonna win this before I pressed play! But the champion of this shave is that lather! It was a beast!
I've found that Lather Bro's produces the fastest high quality lather. There are better bases but they tend to take longer to build.
