Great list, here’s my list: no order • Saponificio Varesino V2 • Blackland Osprey • West Coast Shaving Liberty • Goodfellas Smile Syntesi 45° • Yates Winning Razor • Yates Merica Razor • Timeless Ti 0.68 & 0. 95 • Blutt 0.99 • Carbon 0.71 (I think) • Rex Konsul Really the list would have to be longer because there are so many good Razors. Yes to the Karve Overlander, yes to the Rockwell 6S, Yes to the Leaf (for Headshaves), and Yes to so many more😉
Nice list. I’m not much for vintage razors, but I’m intrigued by yours. As for my top razors, I can easily put the West Coast Shaving American Liberty as my favorite. There’s just something special about it. Then, the Haircut and Shave N075 stainless steel, Above the Tie SSRH, Karve Overlander, Blackbird Lite, Timeless Slim, Charcoal Goods Gen 3 Level 3, Game Changer 76 and Chiseled Face Legacy in brass. It’s a zen moment whenever I use these.
Some great razors on that list Jon ! The Karve Overlander is one of my favorite razors and so is the Game Changer .76. I was really glad to see the Game Changer .76 in your list, RazoRock doesn't get enough spotlight IMO, you just cannot beat a lot of their razors for the price. The .76 is also my favorite plate for the GC and I can't wait to see a shave video featuring it. I hope someday RR will bevel the edges of the GB like they do the Lupo.
The Overlander is my #1 for this year. I was a bit hesitant on getting it due to me trying some other razors (like the Rex Envoy and the Razorock BBS), but I heard so much about the "mild, yet efficient" performance that I rolled the dice and got it and it has been amazing. I got the SS version and sent it to Razor Emporium for a Rhodium revamp and it is smooth like BUTTER. Absolutely one of the best shavers I own over so many that I have tried and it made me understand that I am a guy who enjoys milder razors paired with semi-sharp / sharp blades. I'm still trying to decide what would be a #2 and #3 because I JUST got a Razorock Mamba .70 a few days ago and it is pretty much becoming my most preferred razor next to the BBS razor. However, I also have the Rockwell 6S (that I also put in Rhodium) in the running and that has been a hard contender to beat for the longest...except when the Overlander enters the arena. Good list, Jon! Very awesome Top 10.
Hi Jon, excellent top ten! I have the Blackland Blackbird in SS, very nice razor. My absolute go to is also the Karve Overlander. I picked up the Henson ++ over Black Friday, what a perfect razor. Thanks again Jon for posting and comparing them. Regards, Lindsay 💈
I just a quiere the Game changer and Man wow it is top of my list as well I also own a Rockwell 6C and find my self reaching for that one and saying wow what a great razor. Ti razor price points are so hi but I would like to try the Blackbird some day.
Dollar for dollar, NOTHING beats the Karve Overlander, especially in aluminum. I bought it in both aluminum and SS and while both are awesome razors the aluminum seems to have an edge with its top cap being just a tad bit smoother. If I had it to do all over again I’d pass on the SS and just get it in aluminum. Where it really shines is the against the grain passes on sensitive areas like under the nose. It cuts super close without cuts or irritation unlike any other DE razor I’ve tried. It is well deserving of the rank of GOAT IMO.
I love my old GEM 1912. I have 2. I shaved with one this morning. It's the closest thing to a straight razor you can get. PAA has one similar I am going to try. Looking forward to that arriving.
Nice list there Jon! How could one disagree, it’s your experience after all ;) My Top 3 this year: - Timeless Ti.68 - Tatara Nodachi Masamune (Combination Cap & Baseplate) - Blackland TiBird Lite To you and your family a merry Christmas and a happy new year!
Oh you’d be surprised some of the comments the list videos can bring 😂 Thank you for sharing your list and I hope you have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year as well!
Great list Jon. The Ti Blackbird is my favorite as well with the Brass Overlander occupying my number 2 spot. The Aylsworth Apex May overtake the 2 spot but it’s just too soon right now.
You have some fantastic razors on your list, Jon. We'll present and very clearly express thoughts as usual. A few editing jumps, though, which is unusual for you. Wishing you and your family a very merry Christmas.
Thnx Jon for this very interesting top 10 DE razor list for 23 that included the Karve Overlander on it!!Will now have to make it a goal of snagging it in 24!!Have a very Merry Xmas and a Happy Healthy 24!!
Really interesting list. I particularly like the fact you gave the reasons for your choices (a list without reasons isn’t all that interesting imho). Many thanks!
My top and go to razor continues to be The Henson Ti-22 + I use it for head shaving exclusively and when I'm lazy it's also my face shaver. I own in no particular order A Henson AL-13 + , a Rockwell T2, a Gillette Super Speed Flair Tip (1956) , a Leaf Twig and a Rex Sentry Slant.
Excellent choices, Jon! The English flat bottom Tech is so great. The 1912 is another of my top razors. It's very under rated as a head shaver, too. I just got the Yates Winning V2, and I think it's going to end up being my top razor overall, even over the other 2 razors from Yates. It's one of my most efficient razors, but incredibly mild. I think you'd like it. Mühle Rocca and Gillette English Red Tip have also become huge favorites. And the Rex Ambassador is just a great razor on every setting. I love my Overlander with the fat handle Tech handle. I couldn't imagine it with any other handle. Weck with Kismet blades has also been great. I think my biggest shaving development this year has been switching to BiC Chrome Platinum blades. There's probably a ton of recency bias here, but it's ok. There are no shave police!
Hi Jon, Great list. I completely agree about the Karve Overlander - it’s a stellar razor. Have you ever tried the Blackland Blackbird Ti Lite. I think it’s an amazing razor - for some reason it shaves under my nose much better than the Blackland Blackbird Lite in Stainless Steel. It’s worth trying, in my opinion (YMMV). I’d be interested to hear your views if you do try it. Also, I like the Osprey, but not as much as the Blackbird Ti Lite - there is just something magical about the Blackbird razors. Anyway, thanks for always producing interesting and engaging videos, and best wishes for happy and healthy holidays to you, your family, and all your viewers.
Hey Stuart, I haven't tried the Ti Lite, and I don't have too much interest because I have the stainless steel Lite and regular Ti Blackbird, which I absolutely love and wouldn't change. However I'm glad to hear it works really well for you, thanks for watching!
Thanks and yes I have tried the Masamune! Beautiful razor, but it was too mild for my taste. I do need to get around to trying the Nodachi and the Muramasa though, as I think those might be closer to my preferences!
Really nice list! Your Top 3 were no surprise though 😅 Just a bit curious about the H&S Ti Efficient. Where would it place on the list if you owned it?
I had about 2 weeks with it while I was borrowing it, so I’d like to have more time in the rotation before I placed it. That being said, I’d estimate it would be in my Top 5 😀
No disagreement with your list. My favorites are not in your list here. From what I can tell, my favorites or the best that I have are each of 30 dollars or less. Interesting Edwin Jagger razor of any kind did not make a place on your list.
@@Latherhog I've only just recently acquired the ER1912 and cannot fault it at all, 1½ day's before I need to shave again after using it it's that good, next inline would be the Tatara Masamune, closely filled by a Wilkinson Sword Sticky and a Gillette HD.

My favorite razor is the Yates 921-M. I was disappointed not to see this razor on your list.
It’s ok to have different favorite razors 😉 The 921-M is a solid razor but just not on my list.
Great list Jon. The Ti Blackbird is my favorite as well with the Brass Overlander occupying my number 2 spot. The Aylsworth Apex May overtake the 2 spot but it’s just too soon right now.
Thanks Phil, looks like we have similar favorites amongst razors!
Check out the Ascension twist adjustable double open comb . I have the copper one very nice.

Thanks Lee! I edited this one pretty quickly, so I’ll have to go back and see if the cuts weren’t as smooth.

1. Lambda Athena
2.wolfman wr2 1.55

I was surprised the efficient ti 5 didn’t make it to the list. Amazing video!
Its there!
Love the video, but with the hands, instead of Spidey you should have Mr. Bill ('oh nooooo!")
Thanks for watching Ted!
I would add the wolfman guerrilla and the alpha outlaw evolution
Glad to see the Merkur 34 on the list. No frills great shave
It’s a keeper!

Is the konsul close? I'm thinking of buying it.
I think it’s somewhere in my top 20, if that helps
I’m planning on getting the Konsul soon
Love my Aylsworth Apex SS and also my Henson Ti22 ++
Excellent performers there, thanks for watching!
Glad you mentioned the 34C / 34G - I've been returning to it, after a year or so away, and am still impressed with how it shaves for me. 🙂
Definitely, as it’s a lot of people’s first razors, it’s totally worth revisiting and even have it as part of the regular rotation!
With you on stainless steel razors. Seems cleaner somehow.
Karve Overlander, Yates Winning razor V2, Alysworh Apex, Rockwell 6S
Great razors listed there!
@@Latherhog Something tells me Yates Winning razor will replace Henson and move up your list, and Ayslworth Apex will replace Blackbird Razor 😂
Hey Jon you really think the Apex is more efficient than the Drakkant
Hey Mike, I really do, the standard Drakkant plate is just a bit too mild for me, and the Apex fixes that issue for me!
To anyone: What would be a great beginner safety razor? I’ve always used cartridge razors.
Two classic starter razors are the Merkur 34c (what I personally started out on) or the Edwin Jagger DE89!
@@Latherhog Thank you for your response. I greatly appreciate it.

Why do you have annoy8ing background "music" while you are narrating? Isn't your video and audio content good enough?
You complained about the background music in a safety razor review video.
I really love the background music. And it fits the vibe of the channel really well (said by someone who’s not normally a fan of background music).
