  • OCD is like a difficult chess game and one of OCD’s best moves is Meta OCD. When you struggle with Meta OCD your intrusive thoughts are about OCD itself. There are many ways OCD can make you dizzy with thoughts about OCD:
    Do I really have OCD?
What if I obsess about this and it becomes a new theme?
What if I get rid of OCD and then all these bad things happen?
What if I really want to do these things and it is not OCD?
What if my exposures are getting easier because I really like it?
What if my exposures are getting easier because I don’t have OCD?
The list can go on and on. In this week’s UA-cam video I talk about how OCD hooks you in with Meta OCD intrusive thoughts and how to avoid getting reeled in.

The "what if this never goes away" theme has been really tough for me, because I've become really good at calling out the regular themes and taking their power away by recognizing that it's "just ocd again". Now, sometimes my ocd is like "ok you got me, but the thought will still linger around, bothering and distracting you". What this has led to is that I'm less afraid of the content of the thoughts, and more of the fact that they are there in the first place. Though the fact that this means that my ocd is on its back foot gives me confidence. Thanks for reading, and best of success to all my fellow ocd sufferers.
