    Hey Brian,
    I appreciate the honest reviews, you tell and show the good, bad, and the ugly of these planes then let us make a choice for ourselves. Other channels are cutting videos and editing out the bad. My last three plane purchases have come as a result of your honest reviews. I loved your review and truthfulness of the EF 1.5 P-51 and the bad ground handling characteristics along with the dreadful bounce on hard surface landings. I know it Kept my from wasting coin on it. I’m currently awaiting my 90mm Viper can’t wait to fly it. I’m going to set your pilot fatigue setting on both my 80mm F-16 and my 90mm Viper. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. Keep up the awesome job brother!

    I picked up the 70mm Viper a few weeks ago and love the plane. My flying field is not super smooth grass and already have had to make some landing gear repairs. That being said, the 90mm is a glorious plane, but for where I fly, it's probably a bit too much for the size of my flying field. Can't wait to stay tuned for more ...

    Awesome video, and the pilot fatigue setting is a really great idea for reducing workload on landing. I generally prefer scale version of real planes that exist, but E flite has a way of making some beautiful clean-sheet designs that just work for me! The Vipers, the Timbers, they just look like they should exist in real life.

    Love it, Love it, Love it - the Pilot Fatigue mode is absolutely great! Want to remember that trick going forward. I don't have the 80mm F-16 yet, but if they ever come out in a Thunderbird scheme, my credit card is taking another hit. My 90mm Viper was delivered yesterday after a 2 month wait. I've spent more time programming the radio than assembly. I have high hopes for this plane because I love the 70mm so much. One concern I have is I cannot get it to come close to balancing with a 5000 battery, It is way tail heavy with the 5000. It will balance neutral with a 6000 all the way forward. I'm going to have to see where you have the battery again.

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  3 роки тому

      I wonder why??? I had no issues with my CG (5Ah or 7Ah), but I also kinda WANT it a touch tail heavy, for flare.
      Awesome plane, just be careful if HH screwed up and didn't get a counter weight in there - that could cause some issues....BUT I honestly don't remember even a peep of CG issues....
      You will LOVE it. Flies like a DREAM!!!

    I thought the G switch was a myth. I couldn’t find it on my ix12. Wendy showed me where it was located.
    With that being said, I forgot I had programmed the Eflite a-10v2 for reverse thrust. (Really hadn’t needed it landing the little 64mm) But with the 90mm Viper I’m going “Hardcore Brian Phillips” with Reverse Thrust, Pilot Fatigue and all the mixing.
    I may have to buy an Avian ESC for the Freewing 80mm a-10. It’s the biggest edf I got and with two 6s 6000’s I’d like to slow down quicker.

    Amazing and professional video.Thanks for sharing your knowledge with everyone. The plane is beautiful and flies well. It has, however, a deficiency: the left wing stalls on landing. (it happened to me twice time). I saw online that it is possible to correct it by mixing the full flaps with the ailerons that go up togheter. In this way the stall moves from the tip to the center of the wing. They call it "Crow"...... I tried to do the mixing with my dx7s (I will soon replace with the NX8), but the ailerons 1 - do not go up in the same direction 2- move even with medium flaps while only full flaps should work. I hope you have an idea how to do it and will advise me. A friendly hug from Italy. (sorry for my english)

    Nice flights Brian, you ought to do a head to head comparison with the Spektrum packs and the SMC V2 graphene packs, the SMC packs are premium batteries that perform better and give you more power overall in an edf jet or high current draw applications.

    • @TheTerrypcurtin
      @TheTerrypcurtin 3 роки тому +3

      When Horizon is sending thousands in planes and Smart batteries and latest chargers. No way would he risk a battery comparison and anger the God's. The graphine is better for sure. He knows.

      @@TheTerrypcurtin Agreed, but he also says that he's honest and truthful with his reviews, be it good or bad, but again why bite the hand that feeds you when you're getting product for free or at a highly discounted rate.

    • @BrianPhillipsRC
      @BrianPhillipsRC  3 роки тому +6

      We'll review competitive batteries if they send them. I have no problem doing a head to head. Horizon Hobby knows we review competitive products, and even sends their Rx'es to use in these planes, upon MY request. We'll be reviewing some new batteries in the near future along side their already proven SMART packs. Who knows which will fare better, but I'm all about the best performance, and HH will just make theirs better if they get beat. This is why I told HH and others, when we first start working together, we will be honest. We try to be fair too. The really funny part is, no matter how transparent we try to be, there's always someone out there who assumes we're covering for someone. That's NOT how we operate! We need our audience MORE than we need HH or any other brand, for that matter. Don't get me wrong, we LOVE HH and all the brands and distributors that we work with, even when we don't love every item we review for them. My point is, you can come here and expect to get a healthy does of the Truth, even when it's messy.
      P.S. You might notice, I can't help but take offense when our character is challenged.

    • @steelrainfpv3383
      @steelrainfpv3383 3 роки тому +1

      @@BrianPhillipsRC personally as an avid rc enthusiast and previous reviewer of drone parts I was always looking for the best performing parts, batteries, etc whether they sent them to me or I purchased the product myself, that way I didn't limit my possibilities of performance gains and value by painting myself into the proverbial "I only review and compare products or companies that work with me or send me free stuff" corner.
      I've done a lot of battery load comparison tests in the past on my channel which incorporated products sent to me, along with products I purchased myself which in turn gave all the vendors a fair shake and assessment, along with being objective and not subjective in my analysis just because a company worked with me or sent me free or highly discounted products. That is true character in my opinion, so if you're only testing and comparing things that are sent to you from companies that work with you, that is the definition of subjective reviewing and favoritism from those companies.

    On my transmitter I programmed reverse on a pushbutton only ("pilot fatigue"). I think I don`t need "controllable" on a switch because I can give small portions of reverse thrust with pushbutton only so I have enough of contol on the ground. IMO an extra switch for "controllable" is confusing and you have more risk employing reverse thrust while the plane is in the air.

    • @BrianPhillipsRC

    Hi, I have a question that a super expert like you might help me to answer.
    I have an eFlite Turbo Timber Evolution, and a NX6.
    I would like to buy a Viper 90 and wondering if it is possible to use my NX6 to fly it and use both Safe/Select/AS3X selection and reverser with my NX6.
    Viper instructions say we can couple Flaps and SafeSelect in order to have Flaps Down Safe ON, Flaps Half Safe ON, Flaps Up, Safe OFF and AS3X ON.
    I tried this on my TTE but I can only have Flaps Down Safe ON, Flaps Half Safe OFF, Flaps Up, Safe OFF, as I see there is a threshold value of 88 to have Safe Select ON, therefore Flaps Half (Zero value) triggers a SafeSelect OFF.
    HorizonHobby explained that this is not working with my TTE as it will only work with the Viper due to different flaps mechanics.
    As this looks to me an electronic issue, have you the chance to crosscheck this?! Thanks a lot!!

    Hi, I'm trying to setup a viper 90mm with thrust reverse using a first gen dx9 spektrum transmitter and the viper 90mm has a AR637TA receiver with 130a Avian ESC. I used the spektrum smart programmer and changed brake type to reverse, brake force to 7, thrust Rev CH7(default) on ESC, as I'm not using safe on the Viper (Ch 7) the default channel for Safe and I saved, data ok. On my TX I went into system setup, channel Assign and changed channel 7 Aux2 to button I and in digital switch setup for switch I , there is a 100% -100%. All travel is 100% in servo setup, I'm using a mix in Mix 1- AX2 - Thr, rate 0% and -100, offset 100%, switch is set to I button, I calibrated TX to Avian ESC 130A as per manual instructions. Still no Thrust Reverse when I hold the I button, motor continuously goes forward no thrust reverse, I tried reprogramming ESC over and over, no success. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong, thanks.

      Only thing I'm not seeing in your notes would be that you have to make the switch conditions go -100 for forward, and +100 for reverse, or swap, if I'm backward. It's not a tough thing to change, but should be able to do it with your Tx, as I understand it.
      If that's NOT it, have you tried just choosing a higher channel, like 9?
