    Using a case makes a big difference when it's time to sell- when you take off the case the laptop still looks like new. No-brainer for me. Edges get dinged, surface gets scratched...why would it not be a good idea?

    No I would not recommend a case on any Mac machines Macs are better by just taking good care of it for example placing a desktop pad will help alot of preventing scratches those cases will catch micro dust particles and stays inside which further damages the finish

      hmm i've never purchased those myself.. but just checked on reddit and looks like it was a cause for concern for some people and then at some point dbrand stopped selling the palmrest and touchpad skins so I would say don't use them. DON'T use macbook cases, the hinge of the macbook is extremely precise, wearing a case can break the display due to distorsions, even apple on their website has an article explaining why to now wear a case.

      @seifbuys  3 місяці тому +2

      Hey Gaudah, you know what's guaranteed to scratch up, ding, and break your macbook? Walking around with it and dropping it without a case. There's people that are more careful with their products and don't see themselves doing that, including myself which is why I went with a skin as mentioned at the end and even now my M3 is caseless. But I don't take my macbook outside the home often.
      Bulky cases will mess up your hinges over time with repeated abuse, yes. Doesn't mean that wearing a slim case like the majority of those shown in the video is more harmful to your macbook over time that wearing no case. Apple sells macbook cases in their stores and on their website. Including the incase and Tech21 cases shown in the video.

    From my experience with MacBook hard cases- those corner pieces that you like to see provide higher corner coverage are VERY prone to breaking, especially if you keep your case in a bag. That little piece of plastic is a real weak point, maybe why some brands keep it lower. A lot of these design choices come with tradeoffs and/or have been chosen due to user feedback.

    • @seifbuys
      @seifbuys  6 місяців тому

      Good point Marcos! I didn't think of that myself but can't say I've read or heard of anyone having such issues. The additional weight seems super negligible as these cases are really light (especially the top piece that goes on the lid), and especially considering how well crafted the hinges on these macbooks are. Also, it's not like the weight is being born on the hinge from a physics standpoint when the macbook is open and in use at the typical 90 degree angle .. it would only be felt when in a transitory state (opening or closing). That's my 2 cents on your point at least!

      @@seifbuys sorry did not describe well. I got a cheep case for about 20 and they simply crack after it gets hot. Not an issue as it protects the Mac and I can live with the crakes due to the Mac body expanding. It happened to all the clear cases after a good days work. The PTU cases that are not clear are much more durable but they eventually crack also in the corners. I don’t think I used any of the ones you featured on the vid. Just that the clear ones do give with bits falling off from the corners after 2 or 3 years. But they are cheep as chips so replacing it through a new cheep eBay product was not an issue.

Look I’m going to say this once, it’s a premium laptop not a cell phone lmaoo, you do warm more harm than good putting a foolish case on your MacBook. Thanks for sharing ur thoughts John! sounds like an opinion. You're entitled to one and like I said at the end, I decided to go caseless with a skin. It is definetly not a bad choice to go with a case or skin if you're looking to protect from scratches dings and other potential serious damage. Your points are valid, but so is bumping your macbook, dropping it n having it break on u. One is a potential over long term use and repeated abuse the other is certain death to macbook on account of an accident.
      Apple sells macbook cases on their website so these superstitions you have about a case being horrible advice as you say is far far beyond unfounded and based on a few random reddit posts.. who knows what cases they were using, how much abuse on the hinge, and many other factors. ya sure tell that to apple who sells some on their website. With a case or without you have risk of damaging your macbook. With a case is maybe it gets damaged, very slowly over a very long period of time with repeated hinge abuse in some very scarce reported cases. Without a case is certain death in scratches in a much wider, much more likely variety of circumstances.
      I personally use a skin or completely skinless/caseless though as I said at the end. Since I don't leave the home much, but if I did or if i knew I was prone into bumping or dropping it a lot, then I would get a case.
