It hurt logging onto gmod today and seeing all my Mario, Zelda, Smash, and Starfox mods just gone.
Fr, Splatoon is still here though but it'll go away very soon, It's like Windows ending support.
This is why I always archive my mods.

I did see a news post on the Garr’s mod community tab saying it was from Nintendo.
Garry, creator of Garry's mod, contacted Nintendo directly and confirmed that it is not a troll nor Aaron Peters, it is actual Nintendo.
Regardless, it sucks.
Nintendo may have the right to do this as it is their content and all that but it is still extremely greedy and mean.
Nintendo wasn't the one taking down the addons, It's someone named "Aaron Peters" impersonating them to take down Nintendo-related addons. Apparently this Aaron Peters has been doing this kind of stuff for a while. Before you say it's the actual Nintendo, you're only looking at the situation on the surface, if you dug deeper and done some research, you would understand it more.

I've looked into this and the reason for Nintendos overprotectivness of their IP is from a lawsuit from universal they got when Donkey Kong came out which universal though donkey Kong showed resemblance to king Kong but universal lost the lawsuit and since then Nintendo has been traumatized to the point of lashing out to anyone even using there IP without their permission even if the individual isn't making anything off of it. In a way Universl studios is partly responsible for this.

You wanna know what I just thought? You can't really stop people from putting Nintendo stuff into different games when all they have to do is just refer to it in a different name. And then hit it away. To let you know that this is a Nintendo add-on. Something that simple can literally outsmart and gigantic companies such as Nintendo. When I'm trying to say is there's no stopping it's all always gonna happen. Rather, you want to or not.
If this keeps up, then garry's mod won't be as playable anymore.

The problem is there will be more reluctant modders out there due to the hostility they're facing. This is creating a ripple effect in which even if you don't use a Nintendo mod or even upload mods yourself, you will find it harder to find mods of any kind or any games to mod for that matter.
It's really sad seeing loads of addons being deleted from Nintendo.

At least we still have Splatoon with us but thats slowly all gonna wither away very soon 😔, Logged onto GMod Currently and the Addon that everyone was making their OC's was an Addon called the "Enhanced Inklings" the Very First Port of it, That got deleted at the time Nintendo came on. Now all we have is the 2.0 Version

Why I choose to believe there is very, very, incredibly minuscule amount of good in humanity and what ever good will and can be undone.
I heard about this situation this morning, I started archiving what addons that I had already downloaded along with ones that haven't been taken town yet, including a Mario 64 Bob-omb battlefield map.
Strangely I had A PM of Nessa from pokemon sword and shield downloaded in my computer but it disappeared instead of a red box that said the addon was removed.

I know culprit Aron peters running our creativity rights just because it’s their IP address doesn’t mean creativity is a crime (fan art). I know it’s there assets but modding and art doesn’t harm assets you know. This is sad I am be targeted dmca for doing my art for nentendo. If this success then I won’t play nentendo or buy ever again sad….

People made backups of Nintendo models, so there not gone forever

Really no lawyer can ever stop the community they're always gonna make stuff. They're just delaying. inevitable. And it's not just the community. It's the whole Internet. And people on the Internet never give up.
Moral of the story: Download these mods and keep them in a folder so that they can delete them.

Anyways, if you check the discussion tab there’s a discussion that has links to a MASSIVE archive of Mario, Splatoon, etc mods. There’s numerous links and it’s hosted on Google Drive, Mega, and Dropbox too.
I noticed that, when I open my gmod yesterday, I saw some of my Addons where hidden 😔
I made the first 4 Pikmin maps (from pikmin 1) in Gmod. I spent maybe around a year and a half making them, they're not the greatest but they were accurate. They're not deleted yet but they're a big part of my fun in gmod, making maps, also I like pikmin. I'm very sad that they might be deleted. I'm just happy I saved the files hah.
My playermodel is literally a Cinderace and I'm sure it's gonna get taken down at one point or another and that's bad enough on it's own not accounting for all of the rest of my Nintendo-related addons

Sad, I know that i go to another thing but, i'll still say it, i want to say a mod you should make a vid about: Splitscren4 for sandbox (the name says everything about it)
Will just say this - Don't really care who is actually responsible for this, the troll guy or actually Nintendo (yes, I saw Garry's tweet but I'm personally gonna wait and see how this escalates - can never be sure of anything 100%) but this is surely the end of an era for Gmod. I barely play Gmod anymore and I rarely ever touch Nintendo's stuff (except for Wii and Pokémon in general) but this is still sad. I hope that people can download and backup as many addons as possible until this whole thing calms down and we can have fun with Nintendo addons again from some other sites.
Are you sure about "Other sites"? Because People can add viruses into them also Nintendo would get attention again.
@@user-jv4tn6bb8yIf you aren't sure about what you are downloading, just use your brain to be cautious online but also do make sure if whatever you are downloading is safe - Run it through Malwarebytes and VirusTotal and in a sandbox or VM. Works to keep you safe most of the time. Although with Nintendo getting attention again, that is sad and most we can do is try to spread the addons on as many places as possible and eventually just store backed up versions of addons privately and share them privately as well - I think the second option could be safer to be safe from Nintendo.

If you wanna stay on the safe side, there's a lot that you can do like just using brain to not fall for something online, scanning files with security programs, etc. Also, even if spreading the backups of addons on as many sites as possible won't work, people can just share the addon files on private groups, servers, etc. with each other, so that's another possible way out of this situation, at least to a certain extent.
