Over the years, there have been reported sightings of her in various countries, fueling hope that she may still be alive. The prime suspect in her disappearance is Christian Bruckner, a 46-year-old prolific burglar with previous convictions for sex crimes. However, despite suspicions, no charges have been filed against him in relation to Madeleine's case. Former Met Detective Peter Bleksley is joined by Sky News Crime Correspondent and Author Martin Brunt, Author of No One Got Cracked Over the Head for No Reason: Dispatches from a Crime Reporter, former Detective Superintendent Shabnam Chaudhri and journalist Matthew Steeples.
According to Ken Ralphs, he had a late-night conversation with a close friend in southwest Portugal, where people lived off-grid and led a nomadic life. During this conversation, Ralphs' friend revealed that Christian Bruckner had approached him with a plan to kidnap a child in Praia da Luz. However, the purpose was not to demand a ransom, but rather to sell the child to a German couple who were unable to have children of their own. Ralphs claimed that he had tried to inform the authorities about this plot multiple times in the past without success. It was only after hearing about Madeleine McCann's abduction that he realized the gravity of the situation.
While Ralphs' account is hearsay, the police are obligated to follow up on all leads, regardless of credibility. They will assess Ralphs' credibility and attempt to trace and locate potential witnesses who may shed more light on the situation. However, from an evidential standpoint, hearsay is generally considered inadmissible in court. Despite this, the information provided by Ralphs adds another layer to the ongoing investigation.

The prime suspects are the parents. They left their children ALONE while they were enjoying drinking and having a good time. THEY ARE TO BLAME and should me in prison for child neglect.
Baffles me why they have not fully investigated the parents as they’re guilty of leaving kids alone.

@@susanstricker5416 They're powerful and well connected. Also, they were given huge amounts of assurances by multiple UK governments that they wouldn't be prosecuted. At this point, if UK law enforcement did get involved then it would just become a national embarrassment. No, better to just sweep it under the carpet and blame a provably bad person.

In other words, they didn't have the time or any clear motive to do the crime. Are you saying that leaving their child alone despite others in their group doing the same thing is motive or intent? Are you saying that all the parents who did it that night have the motive to kill their child or hide an accident that happened to their child? The parents were taking turns at checking on all of the children. It was careless, sure. Neglect though?? I don't think so. Focusing on a weak case like that while they are in the height of distress because their small child was missing would have been a terrible miscarriage of justice and a unnecessary distraction from finding her.
Who would leave the young children alone in the first place.
And by their own admission they did it several times. Criminal neglect, but not if you are part of the establishment.

It becomes even worse when you learn that Maddie challenged her parents earlier in the week and mentioned that the twins were crying and there were no adults around.
And, oh, they said, we've been reassured, because lots of other people have come to us and said they do the same thing. Lots of people doing something doesn't make it right. And such a statement reinforces the idea that they're more concerned with their image as 'good parents' than they are with the truth being revealed.
We all know what happened but we are not allowed to talk about it.

I have a close relative who is a retired Detective Inspector, he says lie detectors are not accurate enough to use to convict people. It's puzzling why this case has had so much attention compared to others.
I do hope all these other missing children, are getting the same attention to look for them. Their lives are equally important

the german police said on more than one occasion that they had 100 percent evidence that it was Christian Brueckner that took her but have never shown this evidence. i believe the portuguese detective who was the first in the scene guessed it right when he said it was the parents that did it.

The McCanns are suspects in Portugal, that was made clear by the Supreme Court in 2017 when Kate & Gerry lost their libel action against Amaral.

The British police are not allowed to investigate the prime suspects, the McCanns and their friends.
i don't know what the German police are up to. No police force is perfect but compared to the reported unprofessional antics of German police over the last 4 years the Portuguese police are saints.

I worked with training canine and yes they do. Dogs are not 💯 reliable and they can follow/pick up the wrong scent.

Even though there was no evidence of an abduction and all roads leading to parental responsibility ( like the mcScams) & the fact that their other 3 children in foster care soon after, they have not been charged either. The parents were negligent. As a direct result, the child went missing (irrespective of whether or not the parents did it). Parents are at fault. Why did they never get charged???
That point is a distraction from the main point which is that their small child had been abducted and it likely deceased. How much more punishment do you think they deserve. To me they have suffered enough. What they did was wrong and others had done the same thing. So they all would have to be charged. That being said, was it illegal? They will always have to live with the fact they left her alone and because of that, she was taken. To punish them more for that would be cruel and vile.

The McCann's and the other parents had had dinner there before on a handful of occasions. It was something known to be done by many parents at the resort. I don't think the resort promoted it but they certainly promoted the idea of a village like atmosphere and safety. Lots of things are done by people until something happens and then we are all horrified and stop doing it. Children buying cigarettes and alcohol for their parents, babies travelling in carrycots on the back seat of cars, rear safety belts came in decades after cars. Even child seats and booster seats. The list is endless . . .

My local pub is probably less than a five minute brisk walk from my house. I honestly couldn't imagine having left my children at those ages to leave my house at any time much less in the dark to go and drink and eat there with my house empty, doors unlocked, children out of earshot and house out of sight. Popping out every once in a while to check on them??? Absolutely criminal behaviour. Of course that poor wee girl is dead. The Mcanns seem to think insisting on her still being alive somehow will exonerate their behaviour and neglect. If CB did abduct her it was only because she was left unprotected from the monster

That's why it's illegal to leave a child alone. Because they cannot protect themselves. That's why when you become a parent, you are responsible 24 hours a day to either be there to protect your child or ensure that someone else is. Nobody thinks that a three year old should be left alone while you go out to drink. Monsters like BC are a reality, like a fire starting, like a child waking up alone and injuring themselves or just being terrified because they are alone. We all know that people like BC even if caught get very light sentences and then are back on the streets. The Mcanns were doctors, so they would have been very aware of what horrors happen to vulnerable children

As doctors, the mcanns would be very aware of what can happen to vulnerable children. The reality of this world is that monsters like BC are always around especially in areas where young children are, and abandoning your children in an empty house with an unlocked door (apparently so the children could get out if a fire started!!! Baby listening services were used in holiday resorts throughout Europe. Staff would listen intermittently at room doors, as children slept so parents could dine within the complex. The apartments the Mccann’s stayed in didn’t operate such a service so the Mccann’s recreated their own version with checks. You might not like it but that was the culture at the time and it wasn’t illegal.

If I went to my local pub leaving children alone in the house with unlocked doors and they were harmed in any way, I would be responsible. The fact is, the mcanns were the parents, not the wierdos who wander about who don't care what harm they do to peoples children. Therefore, it's the parents' responsibility to ensure their children are safe 24 hours a day. Drinking for hours without knowing what's happening to your children is neglect. They didn't use any form of childminding. If they were to incorporate the absolute importance of never leaving young children unattended as part of their campaign to find their daughter it would help to raise awareness for people like you of the dangers of what can happen if you do. But they don't do that. They never accept that it was a travesty that need never have happened.

It was proven the shutters were not "jemmied" and Kate's account of billowing curtains was just another fable.

The parents have been cleared of any wrong doing and have gotten a public apology from the Portugal Police for the way they handled the case and how it lead to this ongoing vicious campaign online, accusing them of causing her death. Please note he is in court for other issues not Maddie. Try looking closer to home. They made millions from this including mortgage paid and spin doctor salary. It is as her father says the marketing of her.
I saw this child in Torquay England in 2007, I am 99 percent sure while I was working along the Harbour side, I remember it as though it was yesterday but because of my drug problems I wouldn't have been believed and when I would tell my pharmacist later about it, she said that it was in my mind 😢
I did some research on the story, and there had been a sighting in Torquay at that same time ( Summer 2007 Torquay England), and I was horrified to see the couple who were with the "children" passing the Harbour, ( looked identical to the child's parents friends that were on the holiday with them when she went missing) This haunts me to this day and I would be happy to speak to someone about this, I spoke to this little girl and can remember that day quite well but don't know what to do due to knowing that I wouldn't be believe...

There will never be a conviction
Yes it is dreadful and that statement from the parents is so creepy. Why wouldnt they say something like "where ever you are, we love you"? Instead of wishing love to all mankind? There was a murder in my town, the parents were both doctors and the husband killed the wife while the children were awake in the next room. He was a brain surgeon and highly respected in his community. Sick. He actually told the older child to go back to bed.
I remember hearing this case back in high school with a collegue. It was so bizzare, to think after all those years her killer was never found. Her case haunts till this day. Finally the truth comes out.
Millions of people have been waiting for this moment. Most importantly her parents would get the closure they've been looking for✅
They will never get closure, because its their fault. Nothing would have happened if at least one of the parents had been in the apartment. Find it hard to believe that so many comments are in support of the negligent parents.

During his research in Praia da Luz-July-2007 which Mark Harrison carried out in a very expert and independent manner,(despite the political influence), he left no room for misunderstanding that crimes, including those of sexual nature, are committed by the parents in 84% of cases; 96% are perpetrated by friends and relatives.
IN ONLY 4% of them is the murderer or abductor a total STRANGER TO THE VICTIM. Finally, Mark Harrison points out that the guilty party may be a person close to Madeleine, and even her OWN PARENTS! (an ex-cop should at least know something about this?)

if someone wanted to steal a child, why not take one from a poor local family with no resources? Makes no sense to take a kid from well-off tourists. It would almost certainly cause an international incident ... which kidnapper for hire would want to invite that kind of scritiny???

Regarding string pulling, Gordon Brown''s brother,Andrew was on a quango, ,Comare, with Gerry McCann in 2007. Brown saw the Portuguese Chief Inspector as an absolute threat to the McCanns, who had exposed them as real suspects. For Socrates it was important to secure the signature of the new British Prime Minister?
Gordon Brown was also informed by his SFO regarding the suspicions that hung over Prime Minister Socrates, having taken a bribe from UK firms to give planning permission to build a shopping centre, "Freeport" on restricted land near Lisbon. The removal of Goncalo Amaral who had always suspected the involvement of the McCanns in their daughter's disappearance, happened on the 2nd of October 2007, the SAME DAY that Gordon Brown announced to Jose Socrates that he accepted to sign the Lisbon Treaty!

Not the parents for sure. The agony on their faces was real. In the UK parents going out for the evening is common in that situation. Parents did it all the time when I was growing up. The mother was checking on Maddie and her siblings. No doubt they were profiled when Maddie's unique look was noticed. This made her valuable properly in the child trafficking market. Remember they were socializing with Freud's grandson, who we later learned was an extreme pedophile based in London with a summer home in Portugal. He was friends with the Podesta brothers. The latter were heavily involved in pedophilia. This information we also learned later. The Podesta's have now disappeared. Quietly arrested and removed from US politics. Im sure they hired Choudy to abduct Maddie. Heartbreak. I'm so devestated for Mr and Mrs McCann.

CB will never be charged with anything in relation to McM as there is not one shred of credible evidence, of anything. Even anything considered circumstantial with be extrapolated. in the UK, circumstantial never gets a chance.
Friedrich Fulscher. (Lawyer of Christian Bruckner) has always maintained that the charges against his client were fabricated, "built on the worst witness you can get" and essentially not worth the paper they were written on!
Attempt by the Braunschweig Judiciary to accuse Bruckner of further sexual crimes have so far led nowhere...
All those created suspects have never led to a conviction in the past as well in the future!
