Basically the 'Bad Ending' was intended to be the final game in the Megaman X series. That's what Keiji Inafune wanted but, Capcom went against his plan
If I remember correctly, the Zero series intended X(Original) to be the villain, but it was later scrapped when Capcom released Mega Man X6, therefore the whole story for Zero 1 was rewritten and the villain was Copy X instead.
Freesia uses Esperanto's leitmotif (Area Zero's stage music) and Esperanto uses the X5's ending theme's leitmotif,so it all goes back to it technically
Dr Light as a ghost; somehow erased X's memories of Zero...for all we know, it may not have been the first time his Memory was erased. One could argue that he wouldn't even remember is original identity if he had one.
Philosophically it's a possibility, the things people are willing to do for their idea of peace. But peace can never replace free will, that's what makes us human most of all, the ability to choose good or evil in each generation.
Megaman x6 was not supposed to happen, done without Inafune. So if X6 didn't happen, X would be the villain, which would be likely seeing how X doesn't remember Zero at all and most of the reasons why X was as he was, as a person, before being repaired was because of Zero, if I remember right.
No. X didn't turn villain. After Zero vanishes (dies, explodes, disappears, ceases to exist), X was one of the leaders of the Maverick Hunters, Signas and those general were still in charge (although no one really mentions them). After many years of peace, X, being the leader of his own army, battles agains a wicked minded Dr. Weil because he wants the energy and power from the Mother Elf for his own evil plans and whatnot. Almost 100 years passed, X looses the will to fight either for whatever reason you want. In order to mantain the peace at the new utopia Neo Arcadia, and for people to not notice the absense of X, Ciel (somehow she appears here on history) creates a copy of X, so X can finally rest in peace or whatever. The new Neo Arcadia leader, Copy X, is as powerful as X, but without his heart, so he becomes a tyrant dictator. It's unclear when the Maverick Hunters stopped existing and X became the government.
Since Neo Arcadia lies under a dictatorship, a Maverick is now whatever or whoever don't want to go with the rules and laws. Reploids and humans alike. That's when Neo Arcadia became hell.
He's saying that the story to MMZ was supposed to be different, that the REAL X was going to be the villain, but that changed when Capcom made MMX6 behind Inafune's back, so he had to rewrite Zero 1 to fit with X6. whatisthisnonsense.tumblr.com/post/37275213576/megaman-zero-the-original-concept
I kind of feel like Zero becoming maverick sort of fits the overall game better though. Like, if he doesn't become maverick, then X and Zero begin to fight for bullshit reasons, while X fighting maverick Zero is a fight where X really has to deal with the dilemma of having to face his friend in battle as a true maverick (one of his worst nightmares) while trying to figure out if this is Zero's true nature or not. Like, he knows his friend wouldn't want to fight him, and yet... there is something there that has always motioned their lives in that direction.
Agree with this, the fight is much more dramatic if you fight him as maverick zero rather than them just duking it out for basically no reason. I also find funny on how the bad ending on this game is longer (and thus more fleshed out) than the good ending, when its usually the other way around (for obvious reasons), like if X wasant so over pissy about even the mention of ZERO i dont even think this could have been considered a "bad" ending.
ok a lot of people don't get this. yes this ending was suposed to lead into the legends series but x6 comes and says that both endings happened and so megaman zero, zx and legends now exist in the same timeline
Rick Albuquerque no this ending will lead to zero zx and legends. but x6 came in and without any infune's notice he had to rewrite the zero series. but I do say x6-command mission is just a alt. universe for x5
Rick Albuquerque I heard Capcom stated that the Bad Ending was the true ending to the X series while the good ending lead to a “What If” timeline which includes the Zero games and the ZX series?
As many times as I've completed this game, I've never once seen this ending, which is quite surprising. I only got the Maverick Zero scene once before, back when I was still a kid, and didn't bother playing through the virus stages after that. Ever since then, I guess I always strove to get the good ending. Now that I am seeing this though, it makes a lot of sense and puts a lot into perspective for me about the lore of the series. X says he wants to build a perfect utopia called "Elysium" but obviously that's gonna take years, even centuries to achieve. Although it looks like that got started in X8 as the Jakob Project, with the orbital elevator and building a base on the moon. Cut to Megaman Zero now, 100 years later, a possible prototype of Elysium called Neo Arcadia has been built, ruled over by a copy of X which Dr. Weil created, who has all the same memories and ambitions as the original X. In fact I think it's safe to assume that Weil had a lot of involvement in the construction of Neo Arcadia before his banishment. In Zero 4, Neo Arcadia is decimated by Ragnarok, but sometime between the events of ZX and Legends, the Sage Trinity as well as the Reploids of that era sought to rebuild it, thus becoming the "elders" that are spoken of at the end of Legends 2, and millennia later, becomes the ultimate paradise that X had always dreamed of.... Elysium
Your theory is true. Although the humans didn't coexist with Reploids on Elysium, they might've moved back to Terra and then Carbons were made. Also, it makes you wonder; is X the Master in Legends 2???
I used to drive my mother crazy with this ending theme. She'd always count how long the song went on. And she always swore that this was my favorite song. But then again when you consider EvErYtHiNg that this damn game did to YOU the player..... This sad, haunting, soothing song is a welcome reward. There is no respite for X and ZeR0 they will be HURTING FoReVuRR.
The sad faces of Signas, Douglas and Alia whoever repaired X in this game deleted his memory but I can assume that the person is the man who created X Dr, Thomas Light
Part of me thinks it does.. but only because of Neo Arcadia. Even if Copy X was the one who ruled it.. he still was X without his testing or experience. Both X and his copy shared many aspects in personality (mainly how Nieve they are at first) I can spend a while saying why they aren't the same.. but X has the suffering circuit and testing so there we go. yeah.. i could see X working on it later on.. But things got altered via ZX.. it makes me wonder if biometal X and Cyber Elf X are the same.
Then X gets tired of the war and battle shit, so he quits... but since X is the government, a super genius scientist creates a copy of X so put him as the face of Nero Arcadia so people don't notice X quitting.
To tell with all the blurring of man and machine. And remember. even though he seems human, he can remove his normal arm for machine arms. something normal humans can't do. Look at Tiesel for instance. also a normal human.. but with seemingly robotic arms, and BonBin who seems to either be a baby piloting a giant robot.. Or an infantile giant robot. At the point we hit ZX and the Legends era.. we cant even tell who's what without help. If ZX3 and Legends 3 got made.. it would take care of this.
I have a bad ending idea for Zero if you were allowed to play as Maverick/Awakened Zero after the Enigma and Shuttle failed, the pre-battle dialogue would go exactly the same except that Zero isn't flying but he would still have his aura and unarmored X would appear WITHOUT the lifesavers, X would transform to his Ultimate Armor like he did when you play as Zero, X has the exact same moves as when fighting against him as normal Zero, after you beaten X he uses Soul Body like he did when you fight against him, after he used it you see Zero crounching except he doesn't have his aura anymore meaning he returned to normal and he says the same thing as normal Zero's post-battle dialogue. The dialogue and cutscene will be the same except that this time when Sigma appears Zero wasn't able to get up and stop him from killing X, helplessly watching him getting killed by Sigma while Zero's death theme is playing, after he died Zero screamed "X" while crying and when Sigma attempts to kill him too he gets up and deflects his attack with his saber, Sigma was surprised, Zero screams to him that he will destroy him but Sigma ignores him and leaves. After Zero returned to the base a brand new cutscene plays, all characters are sad about X's death, especially Zero, at the end of the cutscene, Zero swears to the others that Sigma won't ever come back again, then the same dialogue plays as the briefing of the final stage, then when you enter a stage, you will notice that you won't be able to play as unarmored X or any other Xs anymore, since when you try to change the character, it stays on Zero. When Zero reaches Sigma, the same dialogue will play except that this time Sigma says he managed to turn Zero Maverick, but then says he unfortunately got turned back to his normal self, in the second and final phase, instead of Sigma asking Zero who is the strongest between X and Zero, he will say that Zero is the stronger Reploid, that he doesn't hesitate when fighting, just like X's version, the post-battle dialogue will be the same except that Sigma doesn't mention X, the ending would be that Zero actually managed to escape without a scratch, and since Sigma is truly defeated, he says there is nothing to worry about anymore, but he feels sad for the fact that he will never be able to see X again, then remembers when he was created, except this time he sees Wily's full face, and somehow also remembers his name, and he sees himself fighting Sigma, like in his good ending, then Iris, and the game ends showing Zero returned back to the base, the usual credits play but the theme is "Armageddon". Also, I know X is the main character, but that would have been a cool ending in my opinion.
@@thatotherguy1234 yes it was, this ending foreshadows what X was supposed to become on MMZ: a threath, not his copy version, but X himself, and that would make Megaman Zero's story more emotional than it already is, both well known "maverick hunters" fighting each other again without knowing they were friends in the past, that would increase the philosophy of "never ending cycle", honestly Copy X isn't as interesting as seeing a battle with Zero and X many years later, that would be an incredible throwback to the X series. too bad it didn't happen, Capcom and their stupid workers tried to milk the X series even more, resulting on X6's poor storytelling, plotholes, and the Zero series being rewritten to better fit the timeline... "But zero dies and x will become evil so that means the ending wouldn't be a good start" bro please, just because you love a character so much doesn't mean his fate has to always be on the good side, The bad ending CLEARLY shows X's initial phase of becoming a threath like Copy X in MMZ, and sadly this idea would work perfectly since on X4 ending X asks Zero if he will destroy him in case he even becomes a maverick, which was HOW it was supposed to be, but no, X timeline got fucked because of greedness, you can thank capcom for that.
That bit is taken care of in ZX. In the ZX era, Reploids and humans make it to the pont where they overlap. The only way they can tell the difference is via the Triangle mark on repliod's forehead. (its part of the intro of ZX and found in the instruction manual) at that point prettymuch everyone is partially machine in some way. With Legands we have Megaman Tigger (not X) who was a purifier unit of the Mother system. Who after an extreme battle is reset into an infant form. Its not easy
Keep in mind that this ending goes straight to Legends and not to X6-ZX2. Also X6, X7 and X8 are canon (although Command Mission might actually not be canon). In Zero's ending in X6 the event takes places years after all the games but perhaps before either the Elf Wars and obviously on either case Zero 1; furthermore in a similar case Zero's ending in X7, Zerohas a nightmare that foreshadows the events of Zero 1 in which he dreams that X has labeled almost every reploid in existance as Maverick including Zero and not only that but X speak wierd (very mechanized) which it is implied that unknown to Zero back then that this X is a clone as in Copy X (if you played Megaman Zero 1 and 3 you know how bizarre Copy X speaks).
Kyle Campbell Still with the good ending the plot would be the same about X going Maverick, specially if you see X ending in X4, it foreshadows it. Like X after long battles against the Mavericks and elf-wars, he lost all hope on a coexistence between humans with reploids, feeling broken and betrayed, so he decides to save humans and exterminate all reploids.
The truth really set in for me in this ending when Signas, Douglas and Alia are talking about X's return like nothing happened. Remember, AI Dr. Light is aware of Alia being an incredibly skilled navigator AND programmer and knows about Reploid functions, perhaps even more than Lifesaver, and she IS in awe of the level of protection it was put on X to refuse data of Zero. If Light truly wanted for X to forget the pain, he would've deleted memories of Sigma as well, maybe even of the whole Maverick Wars, but he knew deep down that memory is a very important part of being a human, yet he went back against this ideal, he know realizes is flawed (more context on this added thanks to Rockman 11), and decides that his creation must have no ties of ever building a friendship again with the most powerful creation of his former best friend (Dr. Willy). in Rockman 11 he still holds out the hope that maybe they could work together, but by this time, he realizes that putting X through the pain of seeing what could've been is, in itself, not human, so he proceeds to block it, to sever that memory that made X so strong in the first place: he looked up to Zero as a brother, the only trace of evil being what Willy left in his capsule (the original virus) and the forced awakened state, and yet he still allowed X to make a bond, Light had hope, but the battle totally broke that resolve. Light was scared, terrified perhaps that X couldn't bring himself to actually take down his friend, used as a tool of mass destruction, due to his high humanity cognitive program. X is after all, merciful in nature, and a total "coward" (more well translated to "worried about everything and everyone" by an amnesic Zero himself in another scenario, two centuries later). And so he takes it upon himself and actually goes back on his principle of allowing free thinking to a new generation, and puts a seal on X, his own creation, because he is realizing in this scenario that MAYBE, compassion is not what will save the world if X is needed. So Alia had it right, she never believed in miracles, because it actually wasn't a miracle. Not because it was Light who did the repairs and they just don't know, she bets is not a miracle because she knows deep down, that the fact that X doesn't accept Zero's data is actually evil in a way. A miracle of X not being able to become stronger by remembering his fallen comrades, the whole reason he's able to be so human and so mysterious to them, and the source of his unlimited potential, is missing now, so in a way, X was lost and became someone else, marked by battle and ready to protect humanity, but maybe, just maybe, not being able to open up anymore to give mercy to an enemy. That's no miracle, therefore... she doesn't believe in it. It's really painful when you think about it, but the more you read between the lines, they're not only surprised, they're incredibly sad, his body is back, but an important part of his humanity is now forever lost, and not even Alia can do anything about it, that's why she's so harsh, both as a realist, and impotency. They don't know what X could be capable of now, they're not even sure what's gonna happen in the future... and IN THIS scenario... the idea was that indeed, X became something that Light most feared, so Alia had it right... It was Zero, a necessary evil, in a way, that kept him learning, and now that he's sealed... not even the 30 years testing program can fix things, and then the original idea of the Zero series happened. Alia had it right, it wasn't a miracle... it was just a matter of time...
Agreed you hit the nail right on the head by placing that on him light took away what made him who he was now that that's gone you have a heartless x that can't feel anything now he's what light was afraid he would become and it's his fault
This comment... You perfectly summarized exactly WHY this is a bad ending. Zero was the one who had encouraged X to continue rising up to the Maverick threats and Sigma as a whole. Who will X look to now for hope in the event of stronger foes and crushing defeat? X would eventually lose himself to an extremely merciless mentality with no one to reign him in, and would no longer be able to be stopped by friend and foe alike, what Dr Light feared would happen.
Well obviously on the timeline order. As far as Elysium goes, while X did mention the idea in this ending, it is currently unknown if X actually had anything to do with the Legend series' Elysium as in there's no direct evidence of his involvement.
honestly i think X had it in mind in either timeline.. he just didnt think of it till later. it makes sense with the events of Zero and ZX/ZXA. Especially with ZX's Reaverbot Like bosses. (zero's got reaverbot eyes located in it as well). Still.. I kinda wish they'ed solidly link the series timeline with a game that either shows or delves into the history as you play it (legends would be perfect) As i see it, the time line is, classic, X, Zero, ZX/ZXA, ???(for space between), Legends.

Either have both the Enigma and Shuttle fail to destroy the colony (RNG is involved but the chances for this to happen are higher if you use them as soon as you beat the introduction stage) or don't destroy the colony and have the timer runs out (the fastest way to do this route is to enter Volt Kraken's stage, lose all your lives and select "Stage Select" at the game over screen 16 times... or 17 if for some reason you fired the Enigma and it failed to destroy the colony, or beat one stage and keep entering and exiting the stage you beated until the timer runs out, BTW, you lose Zero as a playable character).

X5 ain’t the best MMX game, but it’s scary playing it because there are ways how the game could end. The timer before Eurasia explodes is scary as well, because if it’s not stopped in time, Zero goes maverick and majority of the world buried in ashes

I wonder if Inafune did this ending in order to bring X as the cold dictator he was supposed to be in the Zero series... what a mindblow. :P
That was copy X... the real X dies in Zero 2, the 2 copy X's die in the first and the third.
At first It lead only to the legends series
....to confusing
Rick Albuquerque I heard Capcom stated that the Bad Ending was the true ending to the X series while the good ending lead to a “What If” timeline which includes the Zero games and the ZX series?
x6 ruined everything
Memories of a happier time. I got this ending when I first played this game.
Elysium
At this point there is just too much lore in mega man
Dr. Weil didn't create Copy X. Ciel created him, a perfect copy except that he didn't go through simulations like X did
I still dream on an Elysium for this real world... I'll achieve it someday, I'm sure of it, just like X did.
What if that idea of X about Elysium its the coneccion with the Legends Saga? like a alternate temporal line to the Zero and ZX Saga
+Exio Reinfor THANK YOU. My buddies thought I was nuts when I told them that. xD
Your theory is true. Although the humans didn't coexist with Reploids on Elysium, they might've moved back to Terra and then Carbons were made. Also, it makes you wonder; is X the Master in Legends 2???
Well that makes sense since Legends take place thousands of years after the other sagas sooo... is very probable
it was suposed to be like that but in x6 both endings are canon ( somehow ) and both franchises belong to the same timeline now
Mason Sommer The Master is the last remaining human, so it cannot be X...
I used to drive my mother crazy with this ending theme. She'd always count how long the song went on. And she always swore that this was my favorite song.
But then again when you consider EvErYtHiNg that this damn game did to YOU the player..... This sad, haunting, soothing song is a welcome reward. There is no respite for X and ZeR0 they will be
HURTING
FoReVuRR.
Elysium = Neo Arcadia
Ah yes
The ending song sounds like when you are sad...
The sad faces of Signas, Douglas and Alia whoever repaired X in this game deleted his memory but I can assume that the person is the man who created X Dr, Thomas Light
=\
This final make me fell cry
Part of me thinks it does.. but only because of Neo Arcadia. Even if Copy X was the one who ruled it.. he still was X without his testing or experience. Both X and his copy shared many aspects in personality (mainly how Nieve they are at first) I can spend a while saying why they aren't the same.. but X has the suffering circuit and testing so there we go. yeah.. i could see X working on it later on.. But things got altered via ZX.. it makes me wonder if biometal X and Cyber Elf X are the same.
I wish there is megaman x 9!

Soooooo Neo Arcadia?
Basically. But Neo Arcadia doesn't exist until the Elf Wars ends. Elf Wars happens a couple of years after Sigma finally vanishes.
Then X gets tired of the war and battle shit, so he quits... but since X is the government, a super genius scientist creates a copy of X so put him as the face of Nero Arcadia so people don't notice X quitting.
[ MTD ] the world is Doom
Well Mega Man Zero WAS supposed to be released right after X5. With the original X as the antagonist instead of a copy.
Oh man, it does. Guess that explains where Legends fits in the timeline.. a alternate timeline akin to The Legend of Zelda timeline splits. xD
forget all painful memories....
this is a fucking sad ending
To tell with all the blurring of man and machine. And remember. even though he seems human, he can remove his normal arm for machine arms. something normal humans can't do. Look at Tiesel for instance. also a normal human.. but with seemingly robotic arms, and BonBin who seems to either be a baby piloting a giant robot.. Or an infantile giant robot. At the point we hit ZX and the Legends era.. we cant even tell who's what without help. If ZX3 and Legends 3 got made.. it would take care of this.
I still can't believe I played this as a kid
And this was how neo arcadia was born
This sounds more like a creepy pasta than an actually ending, but I still like the idea.
@@yayo_youtube Thanks!
This ending sucks...
It's so sad to see mega man x die is brockin armer
@VerumRex just my two cents but Yeah this ending was not a good start up for the zero series.
@@naoaquieopatrickpatrick8565 ok
What if the one in 1:14 is DUO from megaman 8??? Even thw location looks similar
No, It's Dr Light
Am I the only one that prefers the bad ending
Yeah I feel this should’ve been canon. Espically if they stuck to the plan to make X evil in the Zero series
I cried when I see it😭
Kyle Campbell Still with the good ending the plot would be the same about X going Maverick, specially if you see X ending in X4, it foreshadows it.
Like X after long battles against the Mavericks and elf-wars, he lost all hope on a coexistence between humans with reploids, feeling broken and betrayed, so he decides to save humans and exterminate all reploids.
its much more interesting than the normal one at least
The bad ending seems to branch off into the Legends series while the good ending seems to branch off into the Zero series.
Other than Rockman X-Over, Archie's comic series, and merchandise... nothing much going on with Mega Man these days.
The sad thing is he’ll never remember Zero again…

@Zedrik Allen because Zero was supposed to finally die on X5 to finish Megaman X arc and start Megaman Zero Arc... but them capcom, being the capcom we all know, gave zero(pun) fucks about MMX5 ending and made X6, X7 and X8, destroying the series's continuation and forcing Inafune to rewrite X's story and Megaman Zero's story

How can I get this ending
