I put the first two endings together since the first part of X's ending is the same as Zero's (except for the flashbacks) since somehow Zero still gets blown in half. Now X6 basically leads off of X's good ending only instead of 3 years, it's 3 weeks. But we'll see it soon enough since X6 is up next. __

I love how in the bad ending, X says he has no memory of Zero and wants the other hunters to stop talking about him, yet they are:"Man, I miss that awesome Zero?Don't you miss captain Zero too?I mean, Zero was so cool and awesome!Oh and don't forget that Zero was Captain X's best friend!"

X4 had some all time awful voice acting, along with MM8, had that trend continued with X5, the voice acting may have again ruined the poignancy of the plot. I'm not saying the way they did it here was perfectly executed either, but they both have their pros and cons.

they did remaster Mega Man X with Megaman X Mavrik hunter but it didn't do and sell well so Capcom didn't remaster any title afterwards

My only problem with this game is that to fight the best version of Zero, you have to pass up the best ending.
Same with x3 where to use the z saber with x you have to pass up the best ending
This was one of the saddest endings of a video game from when I was growing up. This came out I think when I was a freshman and video games really hit their stride. They were so much more fun back in the day before all the greed and oversatuation took place. Glad I grew up in the golden ages of VG's in the 90's...I wouldn't trade it for growing up now that's for damn sure!
Shoot I beat this game when I was like 13, I was gonna beat it when I was 10 but I had to go get my hair done and by the time I came back my folks turned the damn game off😂😂😂
Sigma had like 2 hits left and I was sitting pretty as black zero(wakanda forever!!!) with NO subtanks left but a FULL health bar.
The ending hit me HARD cuz I owned the game for ps1 when I was 5 but could only get to shadow devil as I had NO memory cards at the time for a ps1.
Me getting older and beating it was like the end of an era

@@chriss.249 Oh man, that reminds me of how when I first got my PS2 I didn't have a memory card lol...it made for some very tense/frustrating moments. Although I got really f'n good at playing Armored Core 2 by the time I got one LOL...I think I was 15 in 2000 when that system came out. Man, it's crazy to think how long ago that was now.
I feel your pain on the being at the end and someone turning off the game lol, my mom did that to me when I was a kid multiple times on SNES game I left on from before I went to school in Elementary lol. Ya it was a waste of electricity...but come on, lol!!

This game makes me cry every time, Zero and the death scene, the music, the gameplay... I just love the switch cus now I can play this at any time I want to... But still, That death scene hit me really deep..

This ending always made me cry as a kid. Zero was my favorite character since he appeared in X1 & to see him die AGAIN with DAT music hit me right in the feels. Didn't help that X forgot him in the bad ending 😭😭
I think they really could have done a better job with the cutscenes. You get the jist of what happened, you recognize it's sad, but you don't really feel it. But then, then, that staff roll theme kicks in, and you feel the weight, the gravity of what has happened to your beloved heroes. It feels hopeless and heartbreaking and that's actually why this is such a gut punch by the time it's over.

The sequel for this is supposed to be Megaman Zero...
yes it was suppose to be the last one but Capcom wanted X6. X6 has the ending were Zero goes to sleep in the capsule and its from their were Zero series takes place!

Zero series was supposed to follow the bad ending of X5. Notice that in the bad ending X mentions his dream of building an "elysium" for humans and reploids, his elysium idealism is essential what Neo Arcadia is all about. X was even supposed to be the villain of Zero. The absence of Zero's memory as X's moral guidance eventually turned him maverick. Too bad since Capcom made X6 so Inti Creates had to come up with a lot of things like Copy X, Elf War, and Dr Weil in order to fix the plot hole.

I don't think it's a coincidence that Elysium (perfect world) in Mega Man Legends 2 is called so, while also being in the future. Neo Arcadia sounds a little bit different than Elysium to me.
Which makes me question, is Megaman Legends and Megaman Zero take place in the same timeline or on different timelines...?

Bad ending: because X's memory was deleted and zero disappeared somewhere, X was transformed into a Final boss in another series (Actually this is a concept that was originally used in the Megaman Zero series, before being messed up by Capcom.)

Both x and Zero eventually die on screen but way way after X5, it is strange that Zero managed to outlive X however.

It's really interesting to me that people say Zero didn't have feelings for Iris. Sure, her feelings for him are much more obvious, but the simple fact that _he thinks about her as he's dying_ is kind of a pretty big hint... his apology to her even comes before his apology to X.
Knowing that the BAD ENDING from X5 was the one that led to the original plot of the first Zero game feels kind of bittersweet. Zero was supposedly dead and somehow turned out to be alive during 22XX and now we had to fight MegaMan X, the "hero" of the X series that somehow had become corrupt without the guidance of Zero and because of his memory refusing any data related to Zero. I don't know about you guys, but i'm kind of glad Capcom intervened and the story was changed with X6
It was the good ending that was supposed to lead into the zero series you can repair a broken body not nothing at all.

It's so riveting for such a saddening loss of something great and what could have been but now is gone and done. Really the melody of the song is refreshing, yet eerily sad.

The virus was supposed to DIE with sigma, zero(last traces of Dr wily) died, and X was finally free to do anything he couldve wanted.
In a way if they ended it at X5 and not made zero series, we couldve gotten so many things from X, seeing him survive and not only travel the world helping others but also discovering new things about himself.
X was bound by chains of fate to keep fighting battles against his family( the mavericks were basically his children as they were created from HIS specs) but by putting both Zero AND sigma to rest, X was freed of that fate for a small while.
It's just a shame Zero never truly got that freedom too.
To me, the theme is bitter sweet, the cost of freedom came at a high price, saying goodbye to a close friend and brother in arms, but because he's gone u are free to do as u please.
Not to get religious on u but just like the big man upstairs sent his baby Jesus down here to die so WE could live, Zero died so that X could go on, the Red boi even says so.
It just sucks cuz everybody loves zero, from his chill attitude to his color to his gameplay and what he stands for as a character.

Some major mistranslation here. Whatever happened to 'Robot Destroyer Program' from the original Japanese text? They replaced it with 'the one that destroys Reploids'. Wily wouldn't have known about Reploids when he was creating Zero the robot. GNR translation really messed up big here.

Keiji inafunes dream was to have Zero die in this game and come back in Megaman Zero 1 and fight X. Inafune never liked X and wanted Zero to be the main character. That’s why he wanted X to be the main bad guy in the Zero series. Capcom ruined Inafune’s plan sadly.

His idea didn't help the X series all. Inafune almost ruined the MegaMan series in general that they put the franchise on hold, that's exactly why he got fired
X is a whiny, dramatic, naive little pussy. The guy almost never smiles, smirks, or laughs, and in my opinion X is not cool. The original Mega Man could be sad, but he never lamented on it so much. Zero's personality is much more attractive for a hero and what I like in a main character.
He didn't ruin it (unless you count Mighty Number 9). Zero just feels more right for a serious Megaman series. X feels too much like the original Mega man, but more whiney.
mopbrothers in my opinion, X could be a diplomat more, instead of fight-hungry cool archetype. First time, i'm neutral towards X, more into zero, but as time goes on, i adore X, he is my precious boy now, must protect. Lucky Capcom fixed X like it should be

To destroy it, you must only use the cannon and the shuttle after ALL the respective parts are gathered. Otherwise your chances are quite low.

agarciahunter If the shuttle is fully powered up, it's not likely to fail. I never heard of any cases of that.

I hate that after X5 the other X titles came out. The original plan was to continue the Story in the Zero Games. And tho they came out and therefore we could say 6-8 are not canon the sequel of the Zero series (MM ZX and ZX Advent) acknowledges the existence of Axl and in that retcons it's own contiuity

Similar to the elf network in megaman zero, it's a network which is technically another dimension being their afterlife. And megaman, bass, and protoman died by zero and then fell back into hibernation, according to capcom.
@@Adamz678 actually capcom never confirmed that Zero killed them, when asked in an interview if Zero clapped them, kenji inafune said that such an act"was not in his character", and while it sounds like Bs considering he didn't really have a character until after the sigma fight, with him being the creator u kinda gotta take it as the gospel

I feel that, however there's sumn that went down between the 100 years that led to him being decommissioned, despite being so helpful, I honestly wanna know what that was.
It would be dope having him around as a mentor, role model, and teacher to X(even tho rock wouldnt be able to fight fr as most new reploids would be too much for him), I also think rock would WARN X about Zero, although Megaman might not know where Zero comes from.
Just seeing that thumbnail alone makes me want to cry. I hated the fact that Zero dies, he's literally my favorite Maverick Hunter. Hence why I had to replay the point if I had to launch the shuttle and its still unsuccessful. I wanted to avoid the bad endings as much as possible😭

Mavrik Zero should have be the original story of this game and its ending is very bad instead of erasing his painful memories I guess that Dr Light should have kept it and X should accept his sad and happy moments really poor ending and scripting
although the story didn't reveal all the details about Zero's origins why he was made why he was sealed why he was violent at first when he fought Sigma what Cause the W to flash during the fight really there are many missing things there the plot is poorly done didn't like the story of X5 and how it ended
