Succession: Boar On The Floor (Season 2 Episode 3 Clip) | HBO - Розваги
The most shocking thing about this scene is that Tom didn’t sell out Greg.
what’s also crazy is the fact that Tom didn’t sell out Greg yet Shiv easily threw him under the bus 🥴
Yeah, Tom isn't as amoral as the Roys.
Tom isn’t the good guy he thinks he is, but he has more of a moral compass than the Roys. That’s for sure
@@MrKstate21 the thing is that I think it’s the opposite. He’s not as evil as he thinks. He always try’s to come off as someone willing to do the dirty work and live up to the Roy’s expectations but he’s not that person. He’s a better person at heart when it comes down to it.
@@hiimfrank3336 literally, it’s the same thing that said MrKstate21 xd
One of the most uncomfortable scenes I have ever watched where there was no violence.
no physical violence
Mental abuse is also a form of violence.
This is most definitely violence. Verbal and mental.
Verbal violence is still violence
This is hysterical
And everyone who didn’t back Kendall when he tried to get the board to vote against Logan because he was becoming deranged is just questioning alllllll their life choices
I think he is still very very angry inside but he learnt. He is stronger and wiser now. And when he do a move it ll be lethal for that old piece of shit. I had my doubts about Kendall back then, not as for his father though. It was about choice of allies. He must break it from inside not outside.
How? This proves backing Logan was the right choice. Do you think Kendall would do ANYTHING like this if he found out someone was actively trying to betray him?
@@Malthizar How about now, mate? xD
@@Malthizar this didn't age well
@@Malthizar r/agedlikemilk
This was such an intense scene but when Tom is like “How the fuck would I know Greg, you think I have a rational explanation for this!?!” 😂😂😂
This is the most dehumanizing, disturbing, jaw dropping, and hilarious scene ever. It's just perfectly dark, levelling up Succession into one of my favorite shows on air.
Yeah, and its wierdly funny too
@@peterstudios7147 it’s satire
@@kdizzle901 well yeah
Taken from Deliverance? But, yeah, brilliant.
@@peterstudios7147 well satire is weirdly funny
The saddest part of this is that Kendall and Roman don't seem to act like this is unfamiliar behavior from their father.
Yes - seeing how Frank and Gerri just look so resigned, you know that they've seen this behavior too.
in scenes like these you can really tell how the roy siblings grew up. its something about the shows way of showing us their past without actual flashbacks. i can only imagine what it was like growing up with this guy
one of my favorite things about this show is how little it relies on flashbacks. every thing you need to know is told through subtext
Yep, this is similar to the "Cage story" between the Roy brothers. Almost exactly, silly and fun when being told to people but very dark and traumatic to anyone experiencing it.
If you watch closely the opening credits you get lots of clues about that too.
@@sublibrarian The shot of Shiv with Logan standing behind her and putting his hands on her shoulders is impressively chilling for a picture that you see for less than a second. I know the kids in the intro aren't meant to literally be the Roys, but I don't think that imagery could be interpreted any other way.
@@DontTakeThisSeriously616 are you nitpicking my comment a year after the fact even though you agree with the overall sentiment?
Succession is already a great show, but the Boar on the Floor scene alone is going to be one of those moments that defines what this series is all about.
I. WILL. WIN.
- Logan Roy's Tombstone.
@@robrick9361 RIP 😢
This scene, right here, is when SUCCESSION jumped to another level.
You are GODDAMMMM RIGHTTT
My jaw was left hanging after this episode. You are so right.
I read that the scene was inspired by Lenin in the USSR. Stalin would play these crazy illogical games to sew distrust among the politburo and to create these artificial group dynamics in order to disrupt any actual alliances that may have been forming.
Can you imagine? 20th century Russia was so insanely bizarre. Apparently 1 out of every 3 Russian adults were arrested at some point by the stazi secret police. The incentives that Stalin created were so perverse. Tell on the neighbors with a nicer apartment and then it’s yours. Only for that same thing to happen to your family. Truth didn’t matter at all, only the party mattered.
Indeed
@@SmartWentCrazy. Oh, you mean like in the Biden administration!
Factsss
When Logan walks up behind Kendall and puts his hands on Kendall's shoulders at 2:00, he leans in and seems to physically take over Kendall, like he's speaking through Kendall, then disengages and resumes speaking through his own body. This scene is obviously about Logan Roy's control over the people present, but his power over Kendall is so complete that it's like mind-contronl.
And this was not scripted but done impromptu by Brian Cox & Jeremy Strong
In the "BTS" video, right - Ms "@@samir99dec"?
You meant like an evil-spirit possessing his body, thereby very confidently cross-questioning the endlessly-toxic little-munchkin in "Romulus"?
I tought it was more as he is addressing Roman and putting him off-balance by showing favoritism by putting his hands over Kendall since Roman don't even understand why they are so closely working the whole season when Kendall should be out of the picture for trying to overthrow Logan. And it obviously worked because Roman immidiatelly attacks Kendall and doesn't seem very confident, speaks with emotion rather than smarts and thru that gives Logan info on him. But yes as a whole it shows how tight grip Logan has over everybody, tightest Kendall since Logan knows about the dead boy and Kendall driving.
and Kendall on the driving-seat.* There! Corrected the factual-record for ya. 😑 Ms "@@aleksisuuronen9094"
"But the rules are you're spared if you tell the truth". Nice try, Greg.
Given the way the second season ended, we'll need to see long term if Greg really will be spared for telling the truth.
From boar on the floor to top American CEO
Incredible rise for Tom
Boars are kind of like symbols for victory and strength, I actually don't think he felt any animosity (aside from business) towards these three, actually he probably respects them the most for being willing to compromise their values for success. Sometimes the showmaster has to make things weird to keep the show goin' steady
Now that’s a character arc.
Now he is Boar on The Top Floor
Dont know why but Tom asking Karl "Have you played it before?" is fucking funny.
Lol it was funny, like he wants to know what’s going on but is such a derp
I love when kendall and roman fighting over phone and camera pans on Greg who is eating his sausage 😂
I noticed that Logan tossed Greg's sausage way off to the side where it would be out of Tom and Karl's reach.
perfect metaphor for Greg
@@kimberlyklaus7296 It's especially funny because Greg was the only one there who actually 'betrayed' Logan. But I don't think Logan really saw him as someone significant yet.
@Chuck Buskee I think he just pities Greg because underneath his cunning is a little rat man who doesn't have the gumption or the will to ever truly succeed. He's good at backstabbing and flushing others down the drain, but he lacks that killer that is inside of Logan. Maybe Logan respects him also for that, in a tiny hidden corner of his conscience
Brian Cox's acting here is absolutely stunning. It's like he's channeling the character.
Wow, it's almost like that's what acting is and you're not really saying anything.
@@LorenzoDoesntExist bad actors exist bro
@@Rubiecat So do bad comments.
Well he is nominated for this episode and fingers cross, he wins
@@mistergaga1701 He lost to Jeremy for the season 2 finale. Brian Cox is a legendary actor but nothing can be compared to Jeremy's fantastic acting this season.
Brian Cox has such a powerful voice. It’s so naturally authoritative. All of the actors on this show are doing career work.
the part where logan puts his hands around Kendall and kind of talks through him is one of the most sinister things i’ve ever seen
I also found it weirdly touching, which I know is really messed up. Part of me couldn't help thinking, "It's just nice that the two of them are getting along again, isn't it?" Toxic relationships, am I right?
Logan putting his hands on Kendall was so scary and sad. Logan only trusts Kendall because he KNOWS that Kendall will never make a move against him again due to the blackmail. Kendall has become Logan's hand to use as he pleases. What's sad is there is nothing short of literally killing a man that would have brought Logan and Kendall together.
This comment hasn't aged well has it - haha
Hold that L
Well actually, Kendall was the 1st to be asked. When they were at the airplane on the way there he told him that historically he was the one that did those things.
Hit the head on the nail lol
@@GhettomadnessUk2015 No, it aged perfectly. Everything in this statement is true until the final 5 minutes of the season. Kendall was at rock bottom but was slowly built back together again. Kendell of episode 1 definitely couldn't gut Vaulter & fire staff, stand up to Congress with confidence and ultimately kill his dad. Ironically, the only thing that could get Kendell out of his dad's grips was ending him with this scandal.
This scene was sooooo cruel and inhumane, I was in shock and felt uncomfortable watching it; the darkness in this scene and when Kendall stepped in and shut it down, I was relieved. This is a testament to how good the acting is in this show.
The look of concern on Toms face when Logan makes Greg stand up, he really cares for him
I think he's just possessive.
Only he can treat greg that wayyyy… no one else 😤
I thought the same thing.
The way they quip back and forth with each other in the final season makes me think that they’re actually becoming good friends. Dysfunctional friends but still friends nonetheless.
@@ToxicTony15 nah, they're terrified of each other at the same time. nothing good will foster when the underneath is toxic crab mentality
“ No half-hearted oinks. I want full-hearted oinks!”
LMAO 😂😂😂
He’s got a point, you can’t be giving half-hearted oinks in this game. That’s like walking back on defense in basketball.
The director was inspired by Stalin who would throw lavish drinking parties but he wouldn't drink at all. He would drink water and wait till they did something stupid and hold it over them. This was just a great scene all around. So uncomfortable.
Did the director made of of the characters Nikita Khrushchev? Jokester and no interest in politics till later on? Lol!
stalin not drinking? uncle Joe was known for being able to hold his drink very well and he never let himself get out of control
Sounds like western propaganda.
Well, that explains why the director of this episode won an Emmy for directing for a dram series.
Lol gonna need a citation on that Stalin thing that sounds like red scare bs
The most disturbing part is when they show the servants out and shut the double doors surely. ABSOLUTE BRILLIANCE ALL OF IT
Yeah I loved that part too
Highlighted how weird rich people are. They don’t want the lower class to see how vile they are.
“Your dad was a bit peppery”
Hats off to the writers for creating a scene equally horrifying and hilarious. Incredible.
3:03 Tom's delivery is perfect Tom
Gerri was smart, she knew what to tell Logan to avoid that humiliation.
I think he wouldn’t have done it to a woman tbh
@@s1me007 I don't think he wouldn't have done it to anyone of value despite gender.
@@Prodrentjet carl is of value though ?
It dint seem like the wanted to make geri do it either even when he asked her and the way he told her to sit down
You know he's dying to make Gerri crawl around on the floor but even Logan knows he can't do that.
Logan's hatchetman just ushering the waiter out the room is incredibly sinister
Watching it back now and noticing how Roman’s face drops when Logan tells Gerri to stand up 0:49
hes so inlove with her
Yes he was all snickering and laughing and then looked scared.. I believe he would intervene if Logan would try to humiliate her.. but I’m convinced that Logan would never do that to her
Remember when you guys didn't want to support Kendall in the vote against his Dad?
Hiya...!
"Sit on the floor... It's FUN."
😂😂😂😂😂
That is something will Farrell would say
“It’s a game” & “it’s fun” is what makes this scene truly insane.
Tom in this scene shows perfectly how he is not born into this life (in a good way) he grew up with better and more community based values. He didn't sell Greg out when literally anyone else in that room would have and he was the only one who even tried to fight the humilation.... Obviously not hard but he wasn't going along with it as easily like I think many of these "powerful" CEO's would have.
👏👏👏👏👏👏
This didn’t age well
@@victorujkic1738 😂😂 tbf I still don't think there's anything that demeans from this comment. This was 2 seasons ago before Tom even properly took over ATN, guess you could say ATN turned him for the worst. Definitely still think he's got more values than the others, he just understands the business a bit better it seems whereas the others don't see a difference.
@@razzprince2877 Tom got to the point where he had to compromise on morals throughout the show. As you and others have stated, underneath it all, he's actually a decent human being. He genuine looks traumatised when Mencken gets in and this scene and many others shows you how much of an outsider he is. He is also the only one that doesn't come from wealth. (You can make an argument for Greg but he is still a Roy) Also, his relationship with Greg is more comical than anything for the most part. It's like older and younger brother stuff whereas what the Roys do is incredibly cruel and a lot of it comes from narcissism, classism and prejudice. Tom isn't like that though it's clear he picks up questionable traits as the seasons go on.
Tom's whole character arc is tragic, like most of the others, but you feel for him the most because of where he started vs where he's at. He's trapped in his own meager definition of success. I love how the "digusting brothers" joke kind of hints at how their dynamic stems from the need to survive in their circumstance, and perhaps references the younger Roy brothers dynamic- two guys who need each other but that reliance in this competitive environment means they also end up stepping on each others toes, to the point where the love shared is diluted with disgust turned outward.
"He stole my sausage?" Are we not going to address this issue?
Too F'ing slow
There are no rules
Carl's oinks lol, man he's an underrated performance.
roman's reaction when his dad calls him a moron is really heartbreaking
Yoni Rais it was sad, but it’s true and he deserved it. Roman takes pleasure in others misery. Let him taste his own medicine.
@@Citiprime PERIODDDDDTTTT
@@Citiprime He's projecting his misery onto others.
@@HiddenWen A minute before, he was laughing at and filming 3 of his colleagues being thoroughly dehumanized.
@@ericmichaud1273 Exactly. He had it coming
I didnt realize my mouth was agape this entire scene until it was done. Just completely and utterly enthralled - incredible.
logan the next morning:
sorry if last night got a little bit fruity 😬
I like the people mocking the three on the floor as if they wouldn't be doing the same humiliating act if Logan told them to
Especially Ray, who just got hazed into almost pissing in a bucket
Felt like I was watching a scene from King Lear... king going mad lol
As I sat watching this scene, it occurred to me That this was indeed a very pivotal moment of self respect...those who complied literally sold their souls to the devil slowly over time to allow such a thing.
I think with Greg, hes always been okay with complying to disrespect snd being unddrmined. Hes not necessarily selling his soul, but just following the flow of things while figuring out behind the scenes how to enhance his value/status.
@@bkimatab Well Greg is an outsider in this scene and show, he doesn't even really fight for the sausage despite getting it, he doesn't get any respect from anyone and Tom is the only branch he can hang onto, and Tom feels responsible for him because he sees himself in Greg so he won't sell him out. I think people act like Greg is more machiavellan than he is, he really does just go along with the flow of the Roy family.
What are they going to do with a soul anyway?
I like this scene because it's the first time we really see Logan flex his intimidation to another level. In Logan's world, he makes the rules and there is no rhyme or reason to being punished, even if you did good. If something is wrong in Logan's world, everyone suffers no matter who they are. I think that's why after this we start to see/understand why the family and Waystar execs are never comfortable or at ease in the company/presence of Logan.
But they hang on the same, this group of hawks and owls just standing above the world in silence and without motion. They're the most terrifying part of the company, because they are the glue that holds the whole corrupt structure together.
I love the comic relief of Roman and Ken wrestling over the phone. Completely fits the scene and their characters
😂 it shows that they’re used to being in uncomfortable rooms like that. They’ve literally grown up in them. Fighting in the middle of it is no big deal to them.
Not the focus of the situation, but I love when the siblings fight and rough house like Kendall and Roman did at the end of the scene.
2:58 lost it at kendall's "boar on the floor"
He wasn’t even getting enjoyment out of it, just following his dad
I don’t know why, but that shot of Greg eating the sausage at 4:45 just makes me laugh.
Maybe it’s foreshadowing he will eat his cousin boars?
Greg needs his sustenance. He needs a free meal when he can get one.
02:07 that little head tilt says SO much. it conveys what a powerful father figure logan is.
Tom to Carl “what’s going on? Have you played it before?” I couldn’t stop laughing
The possessive way he grabs Kendall is so unsettling
Interestingly, his hands are in clenched fists at first. Does look threatening.
The first time I saw this scene, I was thoroughly disturbed, and yet I couldn't stop laughing. I thought I would see the scene again and analyse why it made me react that way. I couldn't. I was too busy being thoroughly disturbed and laughing.
gregs face during this entire thing is priceless
This feels like Succession's version of the Red Wedding. It was extremely scary yet there wasn't literal bloodshed. The blood spilled here was metaphorical, but it was shed nonetheless.
This episode won an Emmy just as it should
This show is so great because even the side (none family) characters are terrific!. Frank, Gerri, Cyd, Carl and so many more take advantage of every second they are the focus.
I have never seen Gerri so nervous
This scene really does come out of nowhere. Logan can't handle betrayal at all.
I love how gerri was deeply disturbed
Not the actually disturbance but that she has the moral and conscience to recognize that this is abuse
Put Boar on the Floor in Squid Games.
imagine the table read...
Kendall's half-hearted, out of sync "Boar on the Floor" kills me.
Succession went full King Lear in this scene. Finally watched this show last week and I am obsessed!! Incredible writing, incredible acting, incredible everything.
"Succession" is "King Lear" if all the kids were evil, and there was no Cordelia lol.
@@jkta97 The biggest difference is that Lear voluntarily gave up his power to his children. Logan would never.
King Lear meets The Death of Stalin!
Karl being bossed around like this is insane. That guy was a beast to Kendall and handled him well. And here he is completely powerless
I am totally throwing a game of this at my next corporate event.
Great for morale.
Karl desperately ONKING kills me everytime
" Conscience of the prairies " - there are so many golds in this scene
This is, quite possibly, the best scene on any show I have ever seen in my life.
1:51 - I never noticed how hard Roman is laughing! 🤣🤣
The interaction with Logan and Greg was actually cute lol like a kid in trouble the way he calmly repeated “over there” lol
The amazing thing about this show is that just when you think there is no way you can watch these terrible people any longer, at that moment, the show gives a character a shred of humanity (as if the writers and actors are saying sorry for creating such terrible people) that allows you to become invested in them again. It's like we the audience are in a toxic relationship with the show, and the show keeps promising that things will be better next time.
This scene was 100% written by someone whose been through a hazing ritual.
Drunk by power. That´s when someone thinks he can do anything.
"Thinks"
Think or did... 😜
4:15 Karl yelling while holding the sausage in the air as if he achieved something significant. I thought Tarantino was the only director to get people to laugh at horrible things.
The most hilarious part is how to devolves into a fight between Roman and Ken, two unrelated parties.
1st time I watched this it was the most terrifying and intense scene I've ever seen in television.
2nd time I watched this I could not stop laughing.
This show is GOLD
Why do feel the same fucking way about this as you do😂😂😂😂
The first time I watched this, I was terrified and dying of laughter at the same time. The second time... well, same thing.
I sat watching it just shaking my head like no way with my mouth wide open
This is such a great way to explain it. 100%
I was laughing the first time but mostly in shock 😭
Growing up in a narcissistic household my mother used to pit the siblings against each other in games not unlike this. She used to set herself up as a judge in a court & encourage us to rat each other out, then whatever happened she would side with her golden child regardless. It was all just a ploy to put the kids she didn't like down futher & establish the golden child as superior, it only took me 20 years to figure that out!
Logan is like the mad king from game of thrones here. "Burn them all!!!”
My student: I forgot my homework.
Me: Boar on the floor.
this scene brings to mind a mad medieval king screaming at the members of court to perform like jesters under threat of being publicly executed if they don't obey
"It's a game. In the corner, over there. Stand there. -Go, go, go, go, go. " 😆
It's like something straight out of ancient Roman history. The Emperor Tiberius would often retreat to an island off the Italian coast, where he would take pleasure in overseeing all kinds of humiliating acts of debauchery against his subordinates, who he would bring with him, and even his subordinates' children. Can't help but feel that Logan was channeling something along these lines in this scene. Phenomenal acting.
Roman's face after Logan calls his name is an Emmy-worthy quarter second.
When Logans security guard ushers the waiting staff out of the room. He's been here before!
"Not in front of the help"
This is one of the most chilling and scary scenes i've ever seen. Logan's power through fear is perfectly demonstrated in his psychological and physical dominance (powerful voice, standing over ken). He's the most real depiction of a narcissistic, abusive manipulator ive seen in a tv show
My mom was in the room when I started watching this episode, but left before this scene, and I'm glad she did. This scene was stomach churning and dark and brilliant and I loved every second of it.
Tom looked like he was gonna cry when Greg stood up and when he was told to go over to the corner. He didn't even try to fight him for his sausage.
Boar on the floor, to eating Logan's chicken to taking his job. Beautiful writing and character development for Tommy boy
This scene made me more nervous and terrified than most horror movies.
Never noticed; at 4:48... Greg is just standing there eating his sausage like everything's cool again.
I love that Logan is only interested in Greg to see if Ewan is using him as a puppet, but Greg takes it as Logan wanting his opinion on the Pierce deal
At the end of the season during the last dinner, Tom calls Carl a sausage thief as a throwback to this. I love this show
This scene hits a lot different now that I’ve seen the season 3 finale
This part was disturbingly hilarious, uncomfortable, took a dark turn and got more intense all while having no violence whatsoever 😂 this scene right here is a good enough reason to get into this show!
This scene elevated this show to elite status for me,just epic
Totally agree. This is when a good show became a great one.
Him screaming at Tom to get down out of frame is hilarious for some reason
I have never felt physically uncomfortable watching something but this scene stayed with me for a while. It's very well shot to provide the maximum amount of discomfort, Brian Cox is in full force, everybody else is just along for the ride. Perfection
I love how after all of that, Logan says "Too f'n slow." He didn't even bother to curse.
"TOM sit down on the floor... is fun" I don't know why this just kills me
"It's fun."
