  • Fantastic conversation with Christine Sefein, a former professor at Antioch in Los Angeles. I hope to have Christine on again next week to continue the discussion. (And apologies for the lighting on my end- I am in a hotel temporarily due to a frozen pipe bursting at home!)

Leslie you rock. You took the risk to speak up, stood by what you felt was right, and are giving more people the strength to speak up, and come forward. And you are making these conversations public. You were willing to go into the unknown with this channel. Solzhenitsyn said that someone who refuses to lie can bring down an empire. You rock dude.

My guess: they are watching, carefully. Not the least repentant, but fervently holding their view. Imagining they are saviors with influence, creating a better world. It's not a battle I would fight. The Antioch faithful, as described, sound like religious fanatics, pure and simple: the more you argue and present your view, the more they're convinced that they're correct, and must rise to a greater level of opposition. Antioch, once a great school of Ohio origin, is described here as a cult, pure and simple; a devolved apparatus of unwell and somewhat panicked members. You can't out argue or out logic such an organization. However, cults of this nature can give rise to dangerous members, especially in our present climate. Antioch, I imagine, see's the challenge of Leslie as an existential threat: a threat to their institution, income and status; and a threat to their death grip ideology. A cautious approach, regarding Antioch, might be wise; and a greater purpose may arise from this debacle.

Excellent conversation! I am increasingly concerned about the lack of gatekeeping in counselor education programs. I think those of us who have this concern and have experience providing exploratory therapy need to create some courses or consultation groups so that novice counselors can get an actual education in the field. Thank you, Leslie, for posting these conversations. Please continue.

“Intolerance Will Not Be Tolerated” is very much in line with Marcuse’s “Repressive Tolerance”. Of course few of the kids actually know that. It’s a reflection of the high level of training the Marxists in academia have in critical social justice.
The concepts lied in wait until it was time for activation. If Marxism/Communism hadn’t been turned into a caricature Americans would have recognized the terminology quicker. My wife recalls being taught in school as a child in the Philippines to politely correct people who referred to her as a “Filipinx”. In regions where communist parties are prevalent the concepts of colonialism, white supremacy, white privilege etc. are fairly ubiquitous.

Thank you for this. I'm looking forward to the next round with Professor Sefein. It's interesting to me that the lines of division in the faculty are not "true believers" vs "skeptics of wokeism". Rather, it seems to be "true believers" vs "skeptics of wokeism with courage" vs "skeptics of wokeism without courage". Leslie and Christine are clearly in "with courage" group. I'm sure it would have been easier to just say the words, give in, pretend to agree, and keep your career.

Hello Leslie and Christine. Great presentation Ladies. I really enjoyed listening to the discussion and was really disheartened to hear how bad things have gotten. Please keep the conversation going! We obviously need folks like you to stand up and speak out about what is going on in that world. Well done for telling the truth.. I am beyond shocked that university students in this day and age are so blatantly racist. Disgusting... These kids have (unfortunately) been programmed into this way of thinking and it will take far longer to undo the damage than to put it there to begin with... Christine, Like Leslie, you're a very brave lady to be able to stand up and admit the things you have. I admire you allot.

Hi. One important, if not THE most important element, is that you two are having fun doing this. As Prof Sefein intimated, the results you’re looking to see from this may well never come about. So keep having fun, and I mean it.
You remember I told you about my wife battling cancer last month, Ms Eliot? Well, she died. 21 years married and the absolute last person I’d ever want to talk to about it is a psychotherapist, let alone a student on Grief Counseling, and least of all, a student from Antioch. I would expect more affinity and connexion with a baboon or a wooden doll than from those people.
Really. I ask myself, how is it possible people like you two could get so deep into their system without having realized their history ranges at least as far back as the late 60s - of lethargy at the top, lasciviousness and power abuse from middle management, and outright simian minds and behavior from the bottom?
Did you ever read Howard S Schwartz’s books on organizational corruption, as I suggested, Professors Sefein and Eliot? How is it that I, a de facto high school dropout, know more about your own accrediting schools than you do?
Please, read a couple of books by Schwartz, even one. Or Sir Roger Scruton’s “Fools, Frauds and Firebrands” (something like that, by title).
How can I go into this any more deeply with you, when or if you won’t engage even “popular” learning like mine?

Two days ago, I had a very heated disagreement on an Internet forum with a PhD political scientist from Australia who’s fully drunk the woke koolaid and now demonizes and hates “white people” for all the injustices that we’ve singularly inflicted upon the human race. His arguments were intellectually flimsy, factually incorrect and clearly the result of being ignorant of both the world and world history.
Today I had a very interesting conversation with a 1st generation 50 year old Mexican female with a PhD in education. She left academia 6 years ago in order to direct a non-profit that supports single mothers in Texas.
Prior to leaving education, she’d become heavily involved with politics and enacting a very deliberate agenda of social change.
Our conversation clarified some questions I’ve had about how social justice activism has infiltrated the fields of education, social science and mental health.
Whereas this woman’s ideology is a direct result of her personal experience growing up as a migrant farm worker in the 70s, 80s & 90s, his ideology is nothing more than an adopted contrivance. It’s completely divorced from any personal experience of hardship. I don’t know if it fits the parameters of a psychological disorder, but it certainly has characteristics of histrionic and delusional disorder.
It may be interesting to conduct a personality inventory of those who are and are not susceptible to wokeism.
It seems almost reminiscent of stolen valor, where people claim to possess military accolades they never earned. Except that wokeism seems like a group competition to establish and elevate one’s social and spiritual credentials. Unfortunately, unlike with stolen valor, where military vets are happy to call someone out for their deceitful delusion, with wokeism, people are terrified. No one dares to call it out for what it is, for fear of becoming ex-communicated from their “community”.
But wokeism is also similar to modern socialism. Young socialists by and large come from upper and upper-middle class families. They themselves have never struggled and feel guilty for their unearned privilege. So they concoct this socialist narrative for themselves and others, but they don’t actually believe it. It’s literally nothing more than a superficial mask they wear for personal and collective acceptance.

The curriculum is so culturally sensitive that the lesson on Jewish people was a movie about a non-Jewish girl getting picked on for wearing a Star of David necklace that she thought was pretty - had no clue what it represented or the reality of the Holocaust. They mock and minimize people with SMI’s. One of my teachers actually gave wrong information about psychiatric treatment and the protocol around 72-hour holds. It shocked me that nobody seemed to know or care. It’s not about how individuals define their experiences. It’s about the experiences the powerful tell you they had. Full stop. Do not dare say you had a different experience.

There is only one God. “Within the one Being that is God, there exists eternally three coequal and coeternal persons, namely, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.” God is the creator of everything and is Sovereign over everything. God has appointed his only Son to judge the living and the dead. We have all sinned and broken God’s law, such as lying, stealing, lusting, anger, pride, etc. God is Holy, Just, and impartial. That is why when God judges he cannot let even one sin from anyone go unpunished and that punishment is eternal hell. We can’t work our way into heaven and our good deeds can’t save us from our sin. The bible says all our righteous acts are like filthy rags. We would perish if we died and faced God with our own righteousness.
The Good news is that God sent his only Son to save his people from their sin. Jesus who is fully God and fully human, lived a perfect life and never sinned. He willingly went to the cross where the Father took the wrath that was meant for his people and put it on Jesus. Jesus paid the price for their sin and died on the cross. He was buried and on the third day God raised him from the dead. God commands all people everywhere to repent of their sins and to put their trust in Jesus. Biblical repentance is a change of mind about Sin. It’s an attitude of the heart, genuinely turning from sin to God. Everyone who repents and puts their trust in Jesus, will have their sins credited to Jesus, and Jesus’s righteousness will be credited to them. Their sins will be forgiven, and they will be given eternal life. When it’s time to face God, he will welcome them into heaven because of Jesus’s perfect righteousness.
