When I was younger I had a pair of Koho skates, and I loved a 76/80/80/76 setup. I absolutely can’t skate with all four wheels in contact with the surface at the same time. Feels like I’m on skis.
That is the cool part of Mission's vibe 2 RMX rear semi shock suspension accomplishment without losing speed. You speed boy's know exactly how cool that was!
I remember when my Bauer H8 skates had a little cam in the inner wheels that the skater would flip to the low position to rocker the wheels. Just buying different size wheels gives the rider endless possibilities. Great video
i just got my 72mm wheels and tested 72-76-80-76 and damn in balance there is no difference but in turning a huge this is so nice, i main ice skating normally
I know it's an old video... But there are lots of different Rockers you can do. You run more of a freestyle rocker with a good pivot point. But there's hi-lo, aggressive hi-lo (like you showed), banana (small, big, big, small) and pivot (like shown on your setup. And many others. But now on modern skates you couldn't run all 80s... The hi-lo frame won't allow all 80s, so all 76s is best you'll get
Just two questions What would be the ideal wheel placement and or hardness for a roller goalie? Also when I played in high school I noticed a lot of players had only a back wheeel and front wheel- was there any reason for this other than their parents being cheap or for style? I’m about to try this out on my extra pair of skates and see how they do. They are for ball hockey goalie
If my frames say they run a 80-76-76-72, will they still handle any variety of rocker setups? They’re vectors, but I’m not sure I’m the wheel center point placement is flush across the frame.
what are the exact size and durometer of the wheels you had on in this vid. I am a hockey player and want to start inline skating, so I want a wheel that will provide great play mostly in the streets and sometimes in a rink, so what would be your recommendation for my situation.
So what wheel sizes would you recommend for artistic figure skating rockers? Thanks for the info. I'm all new at this, and was thinking about tweaking my skates.
XxJiazuMiStarZxX ABEC-5 is the best stuff and the most popular, cause it is enough good quality and not too expensieve like ABEC-9. Moreover, ABEC-5 is enough long-lived. If you don't have a lot of money, you can buy ABEC-3 (it is quite good). ;-)
I currently have Hilo setup with two big in back and two small up front. I’m an ice guy as well and am trying to find most similar to on ice feel so when I’m back on the ice I’m not all messed up. Did you find a way?
@@brucegoldman9217 just kept them the same honestly. Worked on some power skating and more technical crossover stuff. Translated well to the ice so far
@@brucegoldman9217 I'm going to give the full rocker a try. That is a 76 in the front two 80's in the middle and a 76 for the last wheel. I hear it feels like a ice skate.
Full rocker is what your want. It best mimics the curve of ice skates. Im also trying to resemble the ice feel. Artistic inline skates are too expensive so inlines are my next option
has anyone tried a 72/80/80/72 setup? it seems like it might be too drastic. also, is there anything technically wrong with doing a rocker or hilo setup on a flat frame? my old tour hockey skates came setup for all 80 mm wheels. i feel like as long as they're not bigger than all 80 it shouldn't be a problem right?
You won't get an 80 in the second from front wheel on modern hockey skates. 72s and 76s work though... It's a banana rocker and it's great for turning and agility
I've always figured its a personal thing. I ride a hi-lo 8080-7676 setup and with fresh wheels of the hi-lo recommended diameter all 4 wheels sit perfectly flat. after about a dozen hours of intense skating they will wear down to a perfect rocker for me and I can feel how nimble and turny they are. it helps to rotate your wheels in place to amplify the wear if you are deliberately trying to wear them down to that sweet spot. Its kind of a love-hate. Getting your wheels down to that sweet spot makes rotating them much worse afterwards. Its like you can ride at 70% performance and get really long life out of the wheels by rotating them regularly, or you can try to achieve 100% performance by burning off lots of life off the wheels and sacrificing a lot of time re-wearing in wheels after rotation. or you could just always buy and roll new wheels of your exacting standards, but urethane ain't cheap yo
Hey does this rocker setup actually feel like ice? i mean i cant afford the marsblade but i was loooking for a rocker configuration that could replace the marsblade. do any of your skating skills suffer when you get back on to the ice with this rocker set up? i want to by hockey roller blades so that i can practice off ice, is this rocker the way to go for any hockey player looking to practice off ice? is it the most similar to a ice skates
Bad idea? If you only skate forward, sure. If you need agility, like a hockey player, you almost have to rocker your wheels. Have you ever even tried it? Switching to backward is a huge pain without a rocker because your entire foot has to rock on the front or rear wheel, whereas a rocker allows you to spin without even leaving the ground.
This guy doesn't know what he I doing why is the bigger wheel in the middle it should be in the back so you are at a aggressive Stance you will fall if u do this don't do it
Where is this guy? We need him back in the UA-cam hockey community he gives fire information!

That is the best video I've seen so far as an introduction to rockered weels. There is so much to talk about depending on what is our needs.

Yup, still have mine. Best setup in the world. Trying to modify the new ones is not the sam
i just got my 72mm wheels and tested 72-76-80-76 and damn in balance there is no difference but in turning a huge this is so nice, i main ice skating normally
That’s the configuration I use for street skating! It’s not easy to ride fast and straight but turning and power stops are easy and enjoying.
Great video. I learnt a lot.
I seriously don't know how people skate without a rocker system. Much props to those who can.
thank you for the information! im going to try your set up.
I just got in to ice hockey and its summer, not ice hockey where I am, but i've seen some roller hockey going on.
do you use harder wheels in the back on your setup or do you use the same on all four?

That frame is different for a normal frame. It’s already asymmetrical. Hi-Lo. (80mm 80mm 76mm 76mm) So it’s different from a normal flat frame.
can i do 90-100-90-84?
Hi mate, great video and explanation! What are those green wheels that are on your skates? Are they labeda ?
wheels
What's the exact wheel dimensions for his skates? I want this configuration instead of the high low

Hi, can ypu recommend me a setup for begginers or a setup that give me great stability? currrently I have 2x80mm and 2x76mm wheels, thank you ;)
What do you suggest to play as Goalie? Thanks
i do it where the two middle ones touch the ground and the two on the ends dont. 57/59/59/57
Great video.. I’ve been looking for more turning power out of my skates. What do you think of 68-76-80-76? That’s what I have on hand .
So what wheel sizes would you recommend for artistic figure skating rockers?
Thanks for the info. I'm all new at this, and was thinking about tweaking my skates.
I think between 70 to 86. =)
Артём Федурин So should I buy a pack of wheels with the bearings and spacers? How would you know which bearings are for my skates? (Like ABEC-3, etc.)
XxJiazuMiStarZxX ABEC-5 is the best stuff and the most popular, cause it is enough good quality and not too expensieve like ABEC-9.

Can you run a HI LO rocker set up like 72,76,76,80 on a one sized chassis set up like 80,80,80,80???
What about a setup of 76-80-80-76 to kind of mimic a skate blade?
That's a banana rocker (the rocker he's trying to imitate). Bauer and Mission skates cannot have an 80mm wheels in spot 2 so 76-80-80-76 won't work.
I rock a 80 front and back and 76 middle
Starting with the high lo setup when my inlines come in. But I am an ice guy. What do you recommend as a way to adjust to inlines and a rocker setup?
I currently have Hilo setup with two big in back and two small up front. I’m an ice guy as well and am trying to find most similar to on ice feel so when I’m back on the ice I’m not all messed up. Did you find a way?

if a frame is pre rocker (76-80-80-76) banana, and i use 80-76-76-80 on those frames will they preform the same as a flat set up?
😳😂😂😂
Yes.
I have on my skates 76, 80, 80, 76
I considered 78 80 80 78, but do 2mm even make difference? Would you recommend 76 80 80 76? I am looking forward to learn slalom freestyle :)
davy_brx I want to do what you have but I'm not sure if I should do it like u or do 72, 80, 80, 72

Yes. That’s how the smart engineers at Bauer designed them. Then UA-cam guys mess it all up.
Hi I need some light wheels for mine
This is crazy
Hey is it a bad thing that my back wheel is 72 then 72 then 68 68
Frankie Goff no.
Alex Lam thx
ive got issue and cant find other wheels other than the HI-lo wheels that come with my bauers
What are the green wheels?
Top Puck
aren't those labeda shooter wheels at a hardness of 78a
I wanna do hockey stops. What's the best hardness? 85A, 86A, 87A?? Thanks!
+WestCoastSwinger Depends on the skating surface.
And now there is Marsblade’s
Training aid more than for in games... It's too heavy
It doesn’t rocker! Seriously I can’t believe how many skaters dont notice it is a flat setup that just slides artificially.
Why would you do that setup :p
I find it better
It's easier to turn, stop and pivot
+McNugget Butts Try hilo
+Xeaxos I have
I don't like it
I can't turn as easy
When I use this one I can turn like in ice
It feels a lot like ice
Instead of spending $300 on marsblades

a rocker set up is a 76,80,76,72
no what your doing is a tri-di set up that's what i have on my Reebok 10ks and thats not a rocker
look it up *****
trust me its a tri-di set up because its a 80-76-76-72 a rocker is a 76-80-76-72 because it rocks back and forth *****
haha yeah i have trust me you dont know what it is clearly
*****
It’s not going to flex - the urethane rips to its degree
Does anybody know, if this kind of rocker is just possible in combination with a HiLo chassi!???
ive got the same issue
Красивая фенька! :D
interesting
Soerry but that is a bad idea, all wheels should touche de flour!
pierre lemec If you rocker correctly, they won't all touch when going straight, but will when you turn- which is when you need more grip anyway.
Or just get Marsblades
Ugh. Marsblade has all 4 wheels contacting the ground. It does not create a rockered pivot point. It just gives you some fake slip-n-slide feel.
This guy doesn't know what he I doing why is the bigger wheel in the middle it should be in the back so you are at a aggressive Stance you will fall if u do this don't do it
He has it right. The big wheel sits roughly under your foot arch which is where the pivot point is on ice skates. He explains it in the video.
