I've watched all but about three of your videos this week, you guys are great, you should be proud of yourselves, and I'm sure your parents are proud of you. If you are going to work for customers you need to brush up on the codes, it would be a real shame if something happened and you get sewed and loose everything you've worked so hard for. Keep up the good work, I'm looking forward to more videos.
I grew up in Wisconsin where there (used to be) many old farms with unused silos. I always thought it would be a great project to do this... I really like the idea of the windows along the top section - it will be an amazing 360 degree view. Good luck!
Thanks! We were fortunate to be able to save two from collapse but many are disappearing quick. The windows will be a nice feature especially with the silo being elevated higher than the surrounding land the views will be amazing.
Haha we thought about leaving it and using a glass roof but we would’ve ran into problems when it grew too big. We did save parts of it to possibly reuse for something in the bar. Thanks for watching!
I would have avoided having the ‘ladder’ a continuous one from ground to top. Would have placed the ladder from ground to 1st level. Then from 1st level to 2nd on the opposite; 2nd to 3rd on the other side, and so on so in case one slips, he won’t break his neck or die if he falls. Also, the protective railings should not just be ropes. I’m thinking of a more secure one.
We like your thinking and did look into it a little bit but the biggest issue is space and these silos are already very small, 11’-14’ in diameter so adding any staircase significantly reduces the room inside of it. Thanks for watching!
Well, the drunken climbing might be a problem but carrying a beer - I’d suggest a dumbwaiter shaped like a wooden barrel that goes up one side. In theory you could put a cable lift platform in place of the ladder but you’d have to either dig a pit for the motor or put it up top.
So . .. no bathrooms huh? There is an adult size tree house on the family Chateau land and we have that same issue. Guys are fine, they can just do their thing from the balcony, but what about your projects? Cause, i mean ,alcohol means needing to "empty the tank" more often😅
Ya the first silo we remodeled wasn’t located near any running water or mound systems and we were still in high school so wasn’t very feasible for us to install a bathroom at that time. The next silo, we have some ideas but it will likely be a second phase to the project later on
@@Worzalla_Brothers you were in highschool? Wow. Have you thought about those fancy composting toilets? It can be done , just not the classic regular way ppl are used to!
Haha ya it was quite the task but we really enjoyed it. We did look into the composting toilets a little bit but decided if anything, we may add onto the structure in the future and incorporate a proper bathroom, kitchen etc once we have a more feasable budget to install a well and mound system, thanks for watching and God Bless!
➡️ 14 feet of diameter equals 4.26 meters . The rest of the world uses the International system, except Liberia , Burma and Usa.
So wouldn't it be better to have the bar at the same level as the patio? The lower section would make a great wine and spirits cellar / storage for the upstairs bar. Heck even a small dumbwaiter for the upstairs bar that way now one has to carry to much up the stairs in one go. It might be easier to insulate the lower section to keep everything at the proper temperature. The storage would be on the drive up delivery level and the bar would be on the patio party level. -MG
We actually really like that layout plan you have suggested! Unfortunately a cellar area did not fit the customer's need on this project but maybe on the next silo renovation! Thanks for watching!
You know normally when doing something like this it’s a bit weird cutting to the chase and showing the finished product on the first episode. So instead of getting to watch the satisfying process i now know what it will look like entirely so i have no need to watch the other episodes. Good job bud.
The finished silo shown in this video is actually just the first silo we renovated that we were using as an example to give our viewers an idea of the levels but the abandoned silo shown in the beginning is the second silo we are renovating and is still under renovation and we are continuously posting videos as we renovate it. Stay tuned!
Permits were pulled and we are general contractors and engineers so we drew up the plans for this structure as well but it really depends on the area and what they will let you do, thanks for watching!
You are correct, in our first silo, the ladder was tricky (I got very good at climbing with one hand so I could carry a beverage in the other😅) Then we installed a pulley system to pull up a bucket of beverages. This next silo we are actually building a vestibule out front which will have a staircase in it to get to the upper levels!
@@Worzalla_Brothers sweet, I see improvements on the build. That is great to hear. Are these silos on your property or is someone paying you to spruce up their silos ?
The original silo we remodeled, we did use as a bedroom on our family farm but this second silo we are currently remodeling will be used as a gathering space and lounge area by the owner, thanks for watching!
A lot of work for barely an square feet gained. They could have purchased a derelict house and refurbished it for a fraction of time and money they put into this silo.
This was an old farm silo so it held grain for many years. The original roof was cedar shake so we just decided to match it. The next silo is going to be metal roof to give it more of a modern look. We weren’t really trying to match the look and material used when they were originally built. Thanks for watching!
Nice craftsmanship, but not so much practical. And, no bathroom? Who wants to climb down a 3 story ladder in the middle of the night to go pee after consuming beer at the bar? And, how many people who have been consuming at the bar would be safe enough to climb a ladder to the additional floors? Rope around the edges are going to keep them safer?
Somehow it looks very disappointing. Why bar? I love the outside a lot, but inside is deflating. It could be cozy, but instead it's inpractical and a very cliche in style bachelor hangout. Tumbs down.
@teepeeX , it's out on public view. Supporting comment or not, it brings them visibility and views. I have the right to leave a comment, so piss off. Bottom line, the results are deflating. Therefore, I'm not going to watch any of their other videos.
The TV was actually installed after everything was built, it just takes two guys to hand it up and down the ladder shoot on an angle. It can be done but is tricky, fingers crossed it doesn’t break any time soon!
The idea is stupid and not safe, how can you go up to the second floor with a glass of beer and when you come down drunk, they won’t fall? How to go to the toilet?
We have thought about it but wanted to use the natural rising aspect of heat and avoid bulking ductwork in the small space which we think would be an eye soar, thanks for the suggestion though!
I have just see the finish part and I can’t believe that you start with that

Needs a metal spiral stair that wraps the perimeter of the interior to each floor.

Man, those old farmers found a lot of stones in their fields, to stack them up to a 30 feet high tower

how am i supposed to climb up to the higher levels on a ladder with a full cup in my hands ? I see a flaw in your plans already.
