Two things I've recently thought about with Ninjas. 1.You've often talked about how Ninjas weren't all about honor, and how annoying it is when Ninja try and have a far fight or other silly plans. BUT I had a thought of one situation where a concept like honor actually would probably mean a lot to the ninja, not revealing the secrets of the clan. If there is one situation that could be seen as their equivilent to honor its that you are dishonored by being caught and/or revealing information from the clan. I genuinely had this thought from watching TMNT where the shredder frames Yoshi for revealing clan secrets, and thats how he's able to get him out of the way (in varying different ways based on the version). Honor wasn't a fair fight, it was duty to the clan. 2. The belief that all things continue on, but change is shockingly close to the concept that "Matter and energy cannot be created or destroyed, just converted from one form to another". Like the Tao was really on to something there.
But he did mention many times that shinobi were more honorary then samurai. They only didn't focus on fair fights, because that wasn't they main objective.
@@manticore6963 Yup. Though usually both sides think that way. Japanese also did have tradition where they send they champions to duel, before battle. Some ancient cultures also did that.

He believes that his clan was deceived by an anti-christ in the form of Shadow and so his slaughter of the caln in order to save The Master is an act of faith. He believes that a sentient AI copy of The Master is The Master herself --- indeed, even this AI doesn't know that she isn't actually The Master (I love the movie "Bicentennial Man" and I say there is no real difference between consciousness of the flesh and consciousness of the machine, they are the same; I digress). So he falsely believes that she is alive when in fact she is hidden away comatose and on life support, not alive and not dead. This quite an interesting experience, especially from a game who's premise involved cyborg ninjas. While visuals and good gameplay are somewhat vital for a good game, I believe that a good, developed story is also key for players to be in tune with the game, even if it's not always clear in the get go. I'm convinced to check out the story even more when I get the chance. On a side note, how they potray the later two elementals is slightly confusing do to possible American localization (in my uninformed opinion, I could be wrong), but make sense in the broad aspect. Wood and plant life as element has an ambiguous identity, often viewed to be paired with either earth or air (depending on cultural views of the element). So the image of tree despite being an "earth elemental" could make sense to fit both th eastern and western POV of the game. On the other hand, metal as an element is a concept that is not fully grasp in compared to the other natural elements, especially in the west. This is probably due to the notion we often think of machines and made tools when thinking of metal, other than the natrual ores and minerals in the earth I assumed metal means to represent. So the "lightning" being the fourth elemental in place of metal is somewhat a stretch, but slightly understandable as electricity and metal are often associated with machines. Heck, it might mean the some sort of electro-magatism aspect between the two, but that's just my blind guess. Overall, I thought it was an interesting story worth investing, and feels well crafted when looked at the large scale.
Basically if you pay attention you might actually pick up something interesting and not just dismiss it immediately. Not every game was designed to be completely mindless.
Hooray, more Which Ninja? content. Although I like Yokai Watchers/Yokai Hunters better as a series, and you can't go wrong with the original Culture Shock and Gaijin Goombah Japanese culture examinations, I love these in-depth examinations of ninja clothing, weapons, disguises, techniques, and right here philosophy and the spiritual roots of ninjutsu in Taoism and Buddhism... and of course the classic jingle "Real ninja wear blue." never gets old.
Some characters you could analyze: Gray Fox (Metal Gear Solid) Daredevil (Marvel) Vega (Street Fighter) Snake Eyes and/or Storm Shadow (GI Joe) Ra's Al Ghul and the League of Assaasins/Shadows (DC)
When you talked about the five elements and yin and yang it reminded me of the lunar new years where there are twelve animals the five elements and yin and yan for each lunar new year
Just to leave the suggestion, I'd love to see you cover the actual histories of Masamune and Muramasa. Feels like there's a lot of confusing misdirects with that whole story and I'd love to hear somebody talk about the differences between myth and what could be the reality.
2077 might be deviceive, but Ninjutsu is in it because it was something you could do in Cyberpunk 2020. Yes you can build a full on cybershinobi in the tabletop rpg, and have multiple routes to do it. You will need three splat books to fully look at that form on top of the "Sourcebook" that 2077 gives you. Those books being Wildside(Prowler class), Pac Rim Sourcebook (info on Japan), and Firestorm: Stormfront(Covert Specialist Class). And also thank you for the 5e Tengu and Tanuki guides.
It's amazing what you can find when you re-orient the angle you are looking at. With that out of the way, Gaijin Goombah really hasn't touched on Digimon, to my knowledge, aside from that one time he did a cultural breakdown of Renamon. But here's the thing, that franchise has a lot more Japanese culture baked into it, and he did say he would like to revisit Digimon at some point. The 2020 reboot of Digimon Adventure really hammered home just how much Japanese culture is baked into the franchise, with one of their big opponents being Orchimon (who is clearly based on the Yamata no Orochi, as is evident by the name). But even so, Digimon has a few Digimon based on ninjas. Off the top of my head, there are Ninjamon (which should make it obvious), Shurimon (a humanoid plant with massive freaking shuriken for its hands and feet), the Falcomo( which has some clear shinobi inspirations). Ninjamon only showed up Digimon Adventure 02 a handful of times, and I'm unaware of what sort of presence it had in the games, but Shurimon did show up quite a bit in 02, Ravemon is a Digimon that didn't show up until the latter half of Digimon Savers (Digimon Data Squad in the English dub market) and is the final stage evolution of Falcomon. But here's the thing, Falcomon (a Rookie/child level Digimon) is basically a falcon that throws shuriken and has dark colors, and there's Peckmon (a Champion/Adult level Digimon) that is based on a ground-based bird, like an emu or ostrich or cassowary, but and it falls into the trope of throwing kunai. But things start to get a little different when it evolves into Crowmon (an Ultimate/Perfect level Digimon), it starts channeling the religious elements of shinobi you been talking about in a few videos. And finally, there's Ravemon (a Master/Ultimate level Digimon), who goes into being a sort of dark warrior that uses ambush tactics.
I want a movie made based on this game, but without losing its themes in adaptation this deserves to be adapted as it's presented plain and simple. Trust me the story of the game and this analysis is prove this can work as a my vie or even an anime movie. Thanks for another amazing lesson gaijin big fan of the channel

What about Sixshot from Transformers (specifically his Japanese Continuity appearance since that’s the one where he’s a ninja)? They don’t call him the ninja consultant for nothing
I see all your points here and it kinda got me think potentially you could make a episode of which ninja on raven from the takken series just a suggestion I throwing out there
I guess Shinobi philosophy would have been around. It was probably something similar to bushido, which was a philosophy or an idea that samurai had discussions about in the Edo period after Japanese warring states period. Of course, in the 1930s, was then written into an actual book. However, these would been discussed after warring states period. There probably wasn't a lot for samurai to set down and discuss philosophy. Probably dimyo or samurai lords, but that's because there lords.
This game and the story remind me of Mirai Ninja/Cyber Ninja and that make me really happy knowing that story is still very important i gaming and doing their research and you maye to bring it to light, Thank You 😊🤘🥷🧡💛💚💙❤
Who wants Gaijin to talk about how much of a Ninja Lo Wang is from Shadow Warrior both Old and New or talk about the Assassins from the Officio Assassinorum from Warhammer 40K?
Hey gaijin I was hoping you would do a culture shock on hellboy and the sword of storms. And see how much they got right and wrong. That would be interesting
Here's a left field ninja to look at: The Ninja Monkey from the Bloons Tower Defense series. I think I've already seen enough of this show to already take a guess that this ninja is... less than accurate to real ninjas, but I do think the BTD6 iteration is the closest we get... even if it is a bit outlandish.
"If you put your life above all, you are sure to die." Why do I get the feeling that, when this was originally said, it wasn't in response to prolonging your life by putting your mind in a robot body. It was more likely a response to a shinobi saying, "But I don't WANT to go on a suicide mission!!"
I think you should really do an episode on payday 2, not really a specific character, just the stealth mechanics. They have a skill tree literally called "Shinobi" they have a ninja weapon pack, with shuriken, and they actually use kunai properly. Answering pagers is on the fly trickery, much like what real ninja used. You steal Oda Nabunagas armour, which might not have to do a lot with ninja, but I thought it was cool. The skill "Sixth Sense" feels a lot like a form of jutsu. The Kuro Zukin is just a ninja mask. There isn't really a disguise system, but I feel like you could get a good video out of this game.
I have a couple suggestions for ninjanalysis. First is Azami from Sakura Wars, a game I recently watched a good friend of mine play on Twitch. The second (hear me out here) is Zorro. Yes, Zorro. The Spanish ninja.
Hello Could you explain what does subject alpha said in after the fight? He said that why does shadow has the bond of love, the locket, Who was subject alpha?
The Problem with the VPN analogy is for all we know, the hacking is on a Local Access Network on the level, instead of the normal net access. Which is why you can't hack the facilities from the ninja's base.
Hey im kinda curious, is Inteleon just as ninja as greninja? Since they have the natural ability to turn invisible, being able to emotionally manipulate their opponents, prime reason of sobble and their ability to cry which causes other pokemon to cry, which will make them vulnerable to a sneak attack. inteleons have the hidden ability “sniper” which you said was actually just as shinobi since you explained it with Zer0. Especially with its species exclusive attack “snipe shot”. Heck, once it gigantamax it is seen that inteleon is taking a high enough sniper perch with a water gun barrel that acts like a sniper rifle.

I love Gaijin’s Which Ninja series as I am a huge fan of Japanese culture and learning of the way of the ninja
I highly recommend this game. It can be brutally hard at times, but it is really good.
It would be nice to have on the show something like Pixel Shinobi, it's one of the few games that covers the ninja's crafting
Some characters you could analyze:
Gray Fox (Metal Gear Solid)
Daredevil (Marvel)
Vega (Street Fighter)
Snake Eyes and/or Storm Shadow (GI Joe)
Ra's Al Ghul and the League of Assaasins/Shadows (DC)
As for if they good/bad: 1) I'm not sure? 2) Good, 3) Is he even a ninja? 4) Bad, 5) Not a ninja.
I was already down with this game based on game play but all this culture in there as well sounds really neat too
I’d love to see Gaijin try to make a ninja-style build in Cyberpunk 2077.
The excitement between GG and my friend for this game was overwhelming, and I'm likely to pick it up real soon because of it.
I really appreciate this video. I love the story of this game and wish there was more discussion surrounding it.
Thanks for another educational video!
At 8:40 the words on screen are incorrect, reading: "They care called" instead of "they are called." Just a heads up.
man that sponsor segway was smooth
Handy that this kind of spiritualism also helps to make sure your agents of espionnage aren't afraid to give their lives for their work.
I love the game play and the story line. Very well done.
Cool video, really interesting stuff i never considered about cyber shadow’s story! I think you were pronouncing Apparitor’s name wrong, but I mean so did I before I actually looked up what an apparitor was, lol.
Basically; Cyber Shadow has a (really) deep story.
Might I suggest this game:
*Getsu Fuma Den*
A surprisingly deep story for a game where most people ignored the main plot
Most people were probably too busy tearing their hair out at how "hard" it is XD
@@SilverNightbane how did you add "" on hard the game is hard the game def live up to hits ninja gaiden roots
@@frankspick7544 There's a difference between hard and "hard"... Because in most cases "hard" can be an artificial kind of barrier. This game has legitimate challenge, but it respects the player enough to learn that the mechanics are there for a reason.
Some people bash their heads against the wall because they believe so-and-so is bullshit and is unfair XD
I love this game so much i knew you were gonna make a video on it!
Yeah..I'll have to hit this vid back up after I play the game as it's on my 'to play' list. I'll be back for this vid later GG cause I don't wanna get spoiled.
Has it occurred to anyone else that if you switch around the "which ones are good? which ones are bad?" to which ones are bad which ones are good, his intro not only rhymes throughout but the syllables match up with the jingle perfectly?
Wow! I wasn't really interested this game at first, but after listening the story of Cyber Shadow. I'm going to check this out.
I knew it would be only time before you hit this gem of a game!
Robo Ninja of the future is the long awaited lightning elemental. I see what they did there. Very clean cut.
This only show if you truly love something let it go but if come back it’s yours.
Except that doesn't happen. Especially with people.
@@SergioLeonardoCornejo It happen to me a lot actually.
@@WarmLillie the opposite in my experience.
@@SergioLeonardoCornejo Wow.
Now THAT is a story!
08:50 Good thing I just finishied the game yesterday.
I love your videos and the subjects you cover. I'm in love with Ninja Philosophy and am creating a character based on real Ninjustu. I would love to know the best place to study more of this and would love to know where would be the best place. Also, where could I find the Tree Art of Ninjutsu at 6:34 in your video? I will share my character with you if you are interested. Thanks for your time, Gaijin Goombah. :D
Also, what books do you recommend and sites, please.
Keep up the awesome videos. :)
This video was awesome and analytic, but one of the interesting people he could look at for a future video is Agent 47 from the Hitman franchise.
It’d be interesting to see what you could get out of Asaaj Ventress from “Star Wars: The Clone Wars”, being a Sith assassin and all.
Fascinating. Thank you as always for a great video.
Excellent Video bro! 🤙🏾
I always enjoy your videos, I learn new things and get new perspectives on things I've already heard about
What about Sixshot from Transformers (specifically his Japanese Continuity appearance since that’s the one where he’s a ninja)? They don’t call him the ninja consultant for nothing
This game was so good. Just awesome.
You get it? WHY DON'T YOU GET IT? Ok Gajin, stop yelling at me.
I hope you look at the Tenchu series in the future!
Im planing on geting the game soon, just becuse of your guy's video. Hopefully it is gonna be fun!
I see all your points here and it kinda got me think potentially you could make a episode of which ninja on raven from the takken series just a suggestion I throwing out there
I'll try taking a look at this when I can
I guess Shinobi philosophy would have been around.
Game immediately makes me think of The Messenger
Yet another reason to love this game.
This game and the story remind me of Mirai Ninja/Cyber Ninja and that make me really happy knowing that story is still very important i gaming and doing their research and you maye to bring it to light, Thank You 😊🤘🥷🧡💛💚💙❤
Which ninja that you review for this series so far surprised you the most?
The game(s) art style looks really good.
that philosophy is seriously hardcore.
Who wants Gaijin to talk about how much of a Ninja Lo Wang is from Shadow Warrior both Old and New or talk about the Assassins from the Officio Assassinorum from Warhammer 40K?
2:20 I wanna see how the dialogue will go from there :D
Here's an interesting candidate for Which Ninja: Robin Hood from the Disney movie.
Hey gaijin I was hoping you would do a culture shock on hellboy and the sword of storms. And see how much they got right and wrong. That would be interesting
There is no death, there is only the force.
12:26
AND DRIFT AWAYYYYY~!
Keep up the great work. I love it.
Interesting suggestion: how ninja can you be in skyrim?
With a focus on the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood
If you’re not singing the lyrics to the intro idk what you’re doing
If I wasn't afraid of my security software fighting the VPN, I'd seriously consider it.
This game is so good,I even like the story.
"If you put your life above all, you are sure to die."
Why do I get the feeling that, when this was originally said, it wasn't in response to prolonging your life by putting your mind in a robot body. It was more likely a response to a shinobi saying, "But I don't WANT to go on a suicide mission!!"
It was possibly said to a martial arts trainee who was being too defensive and only performing weak, hesitant attacks
Hello
Could you explain what does subject alpha said in after the fight? He said that why does shadow has the bond of love, the locket, Who was subject alpha?
Y'know who I'd love to see him do a ninja analysis on? Corvo Attano from Dishonored.
I'm still waiting for a which ninja episode on Rikimaru, Ayame, or even the custom made character from the Tenchu series.
Hey Gaijin! You should make a video on Paper Mario: The Origami King! There’s an area called shogun studios that is fully Japanese with an attraction called “the house of tricky ninjas”. Based on your videos it seems pretty accurate and authentic
