You think Ninja Kong is so ninja, there's also this baboon viking from Tropical Freeze who used bombs in his boss battle, plus Bushin no Jutsu to make 2 more baboons. Yes, really.
Funny enough my best friend who's a doctor recamended I get an ergonomic chair for my back since i have artrithis and degenerative disk disease. I might look into this
Seems to me that the main Kong family are collectively more "ninja" that the ape character named such. Invisibility, shrinking, using local crops as improvised weaponry that are almost all a form of gun, using local wildlife for aid in travel and straight-up muscle power, a proclivity to travel way up high whenever possible, usage of a least one of K. Rool's own soldiers to help spoil his plans, working to sabotage the final boss' machinations before facing them directly (more applicable to the earliest games) and no doubt a (banana) bunch of other Japanese cultural references thrown in.
Forgot to mention monkeyport? Talk about going long distances very fast (in one case, even reaching the top of the crocodile isle fortress to ultimately enter hideout helm). Yeah, cranky *_really_* took it to the fridge in dk64...
Honestly... I think Bushido Kong would have been better as the name for this kong than "ninja kong" since honestly a samurai with ninja minions would totally be historically feasable, honestly calling him "ninja" was defenitely a mistranslation
Upon finally watching this video (as other times I just had it as background noise during my last hours at work), I noticed that in the Wiki, it's stated that in Spanish and one of 2 French versions, the monke is called "Samurai Kong", and in Italian it's "Kong Fu". Pretty ironic to me, as my main language is Spanish lmbo
I could be wrong, but I think the flamethrower hog is a reference to Jiraya's giant fire-breathing toad. Also, I understand not wanting to examine Sumo Kong with how Jungle Beat as a whole is bananas. [I am not sorry for the pun.]
@@GaijinGoombah I have NO IDEA if you'll ever see this but: Crosscode episode? The game doesn't just have a ninja DLC outfit for lea,but a whole area with beetle samurai & misdile-launching panda robots & that one thing that goes "doink" in a sidequest & TWO WHOLE SUN WUKONG BOSSES. And as a whole there's a lot of love & charm put into this pixel RPG Wanderbots + WervynAnix did REALLY GOOD walkthroughs of the game, please go watch them.
Donkey Kong jungle beat is a fire ass game. They absolutely should make a sequel and expand on the ninja kong. The game had ninja and sumo Kong they could absolutely make a whole game inspired by cultural ninja and samurai based inspiration.
If I were to recommend a character for Which Ninja, it'd be Agent 47 from the Hitman games, especially in the current Hitman: World of Assassination game. He can't take much damage, but he's all about using whatever item he can get his hands on to complete his mission, covert infiltration, disguising himself in numerous ways, and covertly killing his targets or doing so in a way that won't alert anyone. Not top of that, not only does he have ninja based outfits and weapons he can have in his arsenal like shuriken, tanto, but he also has modern equivalents like his wide variety of silenced pistols, flash grenades and explosives. And to a really cool thing is he's not invincible. If he gets caught, unless he can quickly take out who caught him, he'll soon be swarmed and killed by the level's guards.
His methods have more in common with historical ninja than those of the vast majority of ninja we see in fiction. However, this series tends to only cover characters that are referred to as ninja.

The whole using a boar as a flamethrower thing kinda reminds me of Johnny Horton's Battle of 1814. Specifically the verse about using an alligator as a cannon.
Speaking of Ninja Kong, who else remembers in Kong skull Island where Kong used a chain with a boat propeller against the Skullcrawlers almost like a kusarigama and then he made a wooden sword out of a tree
Throughout the 3D Mario games, Mario can wall jump, midair spin, triple jump, long jump, climb and jump off poles, and can chain them together to cross large gaps and reach new heights. In Super Mario Galaxy 2, there are levels where you are chased by Shadow Clone Marios. You can point at the screen to throw Star Bits at enemies to stun them, and speedrunners can rapidly throw a bunch of Star Bits with perfect accuracy, just like ninjas throwing shuriken! Can you do a video on How "Ninja" is Mario?
Some of the enemies that Donkey Kong fights in the Durian Kingdom are not exclusive to that specific kingdom, he fights giant boars, spiders, puffer fishes, bees and the like in other levels as well
I was not expecting this video, but still a good video, Gaijin. Here's some characters you could cover in the future: Gray Fox (Metal Gear) Daredevil (Marvel) Vega (Street Fighter) Ra's Al Ghul (DC) Corvo (Dishonored) Raizo (Ninja Assassin) Yoruichi Shihoin and Soi Fon (Bleach) Hanzo (Hunter x Hunter)
Sumo Kong, the special boss fight that has no levels before it (If memory serves) and takes place on a falling meteor. Plus you're basically doing a Sumo Match.
You say that the spider is unreasonably large, but gigantification is actually a running part of the Donkey Kong games, so that's probably just the game lore being applied. That likely is intended to be that spider.
I actually didn't know this Ninja Kong was called Ninja Kong until i got his spirit in Super Smash Bros Ultimate(keep in mind I've never played this game and up until that point the only thing i knew about Ninja Kong was what he looked like)and my first thought after learning his name was this guy is to bulky to be a Ninja

Hey @GaijinGoombah I've been a fan of yours for a long time and I love the videos where you create your own characters based on real japanese history. So, that fur is a gray-blue. At least from what I can see, and it is very close to the sky's color in the background. Maybe since "Ninja" Kong knows his mountain home is always stormy he adapted a more gray-blue to better match the environment. In that context, his arm tattoos could be lightning since real lightning is purple.
This just reminds me about the time my daughter shocked me ( see, my daughter and I have watched which ninja together for a long time, her first which ninja was genji) when she told me her favorite ninja was Ghostface....I laughed then I thought about it now I just can't unsee it..😢
If you wanted to Goemon, I was thinking you could cover Yusuke from Persona 5. While he isn’t a ninja or samurai, he could represent Goemon in story and essence. Goemon is his persona after all.
This is just my guess/interpretation, but perhaps the flame shooting boar with the ninja monkey on its back might be a reference to Jiraiya and his famous fire breathing toad.
Nobody can convince me that the treelines of DK Jungle Parkway, as seen in Mario Kart 64, are not full of monkey ninjas firing coconuts out of wooden cannons at any racer who leaves the track. Edit: Can't believe we glossed over the ninia monkies in the room with the spider - wearing blue!
Speaking of Naruto. Can you do an analysis of Shino Aburame. To me he’s the personification of ninja. Quiet, never fights directly, uses misdirection and his clan are the best in infiltration and assassination, face and eyes are covered etc
I don't suppose we could take a trip to Paragon City (City of Heroes: Homecoming) to view the Ninja power archetypes on Scrappers, Stalkers, Blasters, and Masterminds?
To be fair, the way you interpret every funny animal enemy, everything could be historical. Which isn't bad per se, because video games are just of the historical progression of art, but I still think some connections are a bit flimsy

7:42 so when are we getting a "Which Ninja" episode on Dale Gribble?
Yeeah! Jungle Beat! YEEAAAH, Donket Kong!~ You ain't walkin out of this one unscathed, Goomba Boy!~ I bet theres more!
This screams for yet another series: WHICH SUMO!
surprised he did not get gimgam to fire his shoota right next to his ear, that is plenty loud like an air horn but more orky XD
Little G: how is this historically accurate? How is it possible!?
I don't suppose we could take a trip to Paragon City (City of Heroes: Homecoming) to view the Ninja power archetypes on Scrappers, Stalkers, Blasters, and Masterminds?
You should cover the GI Joe RPG and how to build a ninja using it could be fun
DK doesn’t care if ninja or not he just wants his bananas back!
We've gotta have Princess Peach Showtime on a Which Ninja episode.
Thank you so much for that arachnaphobia warning Gaijin!
To be fair, the way you interpret every funny animal enemy, everything could be historical. Which isn't bad per se, because video games are just of the historical progression of art, but I still think some connections are a bit flimsy
So Ninja Kong is actually more like Hatori Hanzo, the warlord who utilized Ninja in his “kong”quest
