- Roof leaking causing ceiling damage. It appears whoever did the siding here caused some roof damage that got worse to the point where it's now leaking inside.

I had some Mexicans do a roof on a home in GA. They started at 7:30 am and finished at 6.00 PM they worked there butts off. Great job also. Now I am not a roofer like you Brian but I can say I watched them and they did a great job. I am like you there are good and bad in all races.

Optibot - your knowledge and information makes it easy to weed out the ok roofing contractors and get a good one. With all your information over the years I could do it but just don’t have the time with my trade.
Optibot, In Nevada we have large Mexican communities. I have met some very respectful, hard working, hungry for work Mexicans. And South Americans. Just get out and work, meet them, work with them. It's interesting to learn about other cultures.

In western ky in my area most reputable(been in the business a long time) roofing companies have Mexican crews! The owners are on the roof with them or check in repeatedly!! Seems to work!!! Down the road a tall cathedral church with a steep pitch and reaching high 80’s temp. as long as the work is good you have to applaud and respect the Mexicans!! The owner was on a big forklift loading shingles up to them!!

Homebuilders often dont want to do repairs. Because frankly its just a pain in the you know what. I do it every day man. Were replacing all the rotting box gutters and overhangs on one project now. Never fun
I think quality comes down to one thing in almost all trades and that is money. I've seen it at many businesses. A lot of good workers will end up leaving if not being paid enough. They might stay for a few years to see if they will be rewarded for their good work. Soon it is then harder to find good workers for low pay so you have to start hiring people with no experience. I've seen it time and time again. It's a cycle.

Maybe it’s different in your state but as I understand it, the builder and architect can be sued for 10 years after the construction. Not the same as a warranty but maybe this is why the warranties are limited so much for a new house. Good builders consider coming back in the first year or two, if something is their fault, just part of business. I appreciate your comment about good and bad workers. That’s my experience, and I really feel bad when I see offhand comments that hurt people whom I have found to be honest hard workers, and more often than most, humble and kind.

I've worked for many contractors that say " it only has to last a year", I hate when someone says there a contractor, my little sister can say she's a contractor, doesn't mean she knows what shes doing,everyone is about get it done fast and make money
One needs to be sure of the builder they choose. I don’t know your little sister, of course, or what she has to do with it, but contractors have to have a license. They can’t just say they are contractors. Some probably shouldn’t have been given one.
There are a lot of places you don't need a contractor's license. And for the majority of areas that do, it's just about the money for them as well.
I've sided more houses than I can think of and never once had that happen. that's just negligent... whoever did it... #lifeafteropiateaddiction
We are finding some new home builders won't allow home inspectors to walk the roofs. Why? The inspectors are insured and bonded and all that. Oh and optibot.

Obtibot theirs a lot of Mexican crews popping up near me and they are fast and cheap and that's what you get a ten year roof with 30 year shingles
Its the lack of pride in work and walmarting of construction, lowest bid wins. Exactly why they don’t do warranty over a few years, they would lose money. What is the solution, you can pay more money but like you said, some are good, some suck. I would guess hire more inspectors during builds and educate yourself.

They called while I was passing through the area, so I worked it in. I cocked it until I can get back to it. It has nothing to do with mexicans or skin color, but everything to do with pay. It comes down to the money on who's being paid to do it.
@@GrandRoofingInc But higher pay does NOT always translate into better quality install. The owner may be keeping the "higher pay" and paying his workers little. It's always a crapshoot. Got to do your homework when hiring a tradesman. Also, you need recommendations for the SAME crew that will be doing your work. Good luck with that!
