Little Woollie Crochet Tutorial - Log Cabin Square

- In this video I show you how to crochet the Log Cabin Square using Linen Stitch. This is a great scrap busting pattern, as you only need small amounts of different colour yarns. I think it looks great with speckled/variegated yarns, but it would also be very effective in solid colours. For 8ply/DK yarn you need a 4.5mm hook, if you would like to use finer 4ply weight yarn use a 3mm hook and your squares will be smaller.
Apologies for the questionable quality of the video, I'm still learning!
I love the look of your squares and appreciate your tutorial. I am a visual learner and appreciate the regular time crochet video. It helps me immensely.
It reminds me of pioneer woman colors. Great patt.
Thank you so much for this - the squares are gorgeous. ❤
What a beautiful, wonderful job, these colors are beautiful, and the stitching is also beautiful, everything is in harmony with each other! I liked it too, because it's a very closed stitch, it looks almost like a weaver did it! Congratulations! I loved your work! ❤
Thank you so much for sharing how to make these squares ✨. Could you tell me/ video how you join the squares? 😊
Love these adorable squares.
Thank you so much for making a video, I find demonstrations so much easier to understand than written instructions. Beautiful pattern, I love my first square 💚💚💚
Love your designs looks amazing thank you
Love the pattern. You have really tempted me to try working with Merino yarn as I usually only work in cotton. Love the speckled yarns you are using. Thanks so much for a great pattern and for sharing these gorgeous yarns too!💗
Oh, Merino is wonderful!
The squares are pretty. A nice portable project.
Thanks! xx
love this, I have so many speckles though in fingering weight, still will make a lovely baby blanket
Thankyou also for the free Ravelry pattern

Love your log cabin crochet square, I will definitely crochet many for a blanket. Do you have any hints on the best way to sew them together in an easy way? Thank you so much :-)

You are so welcome!
Thank you! I’m definitely going to try this.
Hope you like it!
Thanks Julie well explained 🧶

So pretty
BEAUTIFUL LOVE IT
Thank you! Cheers!
I love these! They're a nice change to a granny square & I'm going to make a patchwork type blanket/throw for my nanas chair that I inherited when she died (woo hoo one guess who was the favorite grandchild lol)
Lovely idea, they will make a great throw . xx
@@littlewoolliemakes8745 would it make much of a difference if I did 2 chains instead of one in between the SCs? I find it easier to find the ch space that way, or would it ruin the tension etc of it?
Hy Julie, I just came across your channel Thank you very much for this beautifull square...so, so beautifull. I only have been knitting but you make me feel like crocheing again. I also love to crochet. I was needing a great idea like this. Your kindness flew over the Atlantic ocean and landed here in Lisbon where I live. I send all my love to you.🥰🥰🥰🥰
Thanks so much for the lovely comment, the internet definitely makes it easier to connect and share around the world doesn't it! :)
@@littlewoolliemakes8745 and it's saved for future generations too! 😊
What brand is your yarn? It is gorgeous 😍
😘 I love it !
Yay! Thank you!
This is so lovely, I’ve been sharing the photo with my knit and natter group and I’m just now watching you on “slow” and writing the instructions out for them! I think this really has to be speckled yarn, doesn’t it? It just wouldn’t be the same even in a variegated yarn. Cheers from a sweltering England!
I received my parcel of wool today and can’t stop drooling over the beautiful colours. I am about to launch into this project and the video is super helpful. Thanks so much. It is your blog that originally inspired me to learn to crochet.
scusa dove posso comprare questi filati?grazie
Looks so good Julie. I will have to give this a go. Thanks.
Hope you enjoy!
So pretty. I’m just a little confused as to how many stitches to pick up on each side as we go around 🤷♀️
Thank you so much for doing a video! These are so cute, I want to start them. I have a lot of advent minis but they are fingering weight would I just hold two strands together to make them?
Love the colors ! What kind of yarn did you use? You said a 4.5 mm hook, but I missed the yarn. Thanks for teaching something new ! Love the linen stitch.
I love the colours and the moss stitch Pick the colours out beautifully. What yarn are you using? ❤
I wish you worked a little slower but I will definitely try this ❤
Hi Julie!! I am loving these squares! so addictive! please could you suggest how to join them? I don't want a colour in between them i want them butted up close together?
I love making log cabin blankets but never made one using your pretty linen stitch! My question is where can I purchase the speckled yarns you used to make them? I love your yarn! 💕🧶
❤️👏🏻❤️👏🏻❤️🌻
Beautiful!! Can you turn on Spanish subtitles please🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 thanks for sharing 🥰
Hello,
Thank you for your super video.
Could you tell me where i can find the wool that you use ?
Thank you again
I love the colors. What is the yarn brand and where do I find it?
Hi love the square❤. Who did you join the squares🌸
Im wondering would this pattern make a large blanket if you keep going or would it wobble.
Could you please advise which yarn you're using? 😍
Do you keep the speckled yarn all the time ? thank you for the video
Yes we have different speckled hand dyed yarns in most of the time.
I have the perfect yarn for this. are there written instructions for this anywhere?
What yarn have you should used here plz?:)
What type of yarn did you use?
Is there a written pattern for this lovely dishcloth?
Hola buenas noches soy una nueva sucristora me puedes decir por favor que marca es tu hilo gracias
so beautiful, and great garn, please send me the link other name from garn, want to buy some garn
Curious as to what's the name brand of the yarn your using please?
These are Spun Right Round Squish DK in a few different colours. :)
What yarn did you use
Hi Julie I know it must be so hard to make a You Tube video and all your hard work, but your work was quite far down the screen, so it was a bit hard to see sometimes. But I do love this pattern.
I love the yarn. What is it please. ?
thanks! It is a variety of indie dyed yarns, 8ply merino wool, from dyes such as Hedgehog Fibres, Spun Right Round and Qing Fibres. There are heaps of other indie dyers out there doing gorgeous colours.
How many stitches to start'..
Is this yarn cotton ?
No, I'm using merino wool in these, but they could definitely be made in cotton if you prefer. :)
Très jolie dommage que l.on ne puissent pas suivre en français
I just found you and I love these squares!!! Thank you for the tutorial!❤ How in the heck do you join them??😂
Cute block. As a quilter tho, this isn’t a true log cabin block. Looks more like square in a square.
If you can't be nice then how about keep scrolling by.
It turns out so pretty. I just wish your video wouldn't have been going in & out of focus soooooo very often. Also you kept going down offscreen entirely. I mean, I could figure out what you were doing, but it would have been nicer to see it all. Not trying to be mean at all, just saying, that's all.
Such a shame you couldn’t keep the work in the camera view, I found it very hard to follow ☹️
Also, the Audio sucked....😣😣😣😣
wow, free video and the written pattern is free on Ravelry
