very good channel to learn the basics on the kart! 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for the good vibes, and yeah, if you are new to karting we are here to help ;)
I’m getting air in one side of my caliper each time I bleed. Brand new seal as well. Bleed nipple isn’t too damaged, brake line and fitment are both snug and secure and I only rebuilt the master cylinder 3ish sessions ago. I’m using DOT 5 fluid with an SA-2 caliper.
well then I think that your brake pump or calliper is damaged? check for corrosion inside the system
DOT 5 is incorrect. Should be DOT 5.1. Not the same thing. Not compatible.
That's a great video I love the bottle idea
hey Marty, thanks for tuning in. yeah it will get you by if you are stuck.
love u guys!
Thanks legend !
Guess what am doing tomorrow. Thanks for showing this. I enjoy ur channel heaps
buying a Tony Kart Racer 401R!
@@PowerRepublic mine is a 401s and I race the 120raket engine at whangarei kart club New Zealand. But thanks to ur youtube video in have learnt heaps. Keep up the great work
@@sonicrook2898 looks like a cool little track.
Thanks for the video 😊
No worries! Thanks for watching
If I’m not mistaken, you don’t need to pump the brakes when using the otk brake bleeder. The point of it being so tall is that the tool presses the fluid into the lines once the bleeder nipple on the brake caliper is cracked open. This makes the process much simpler. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
yeah you can use the gravity function as well. both work
Pedal pressure is a far stronger than the force that the gravity can be apply...i think is better!
0:05 The good old flying goose sriracha!
works a treat
Love the content guys 😎
Hey Gibs, thanks heaps mate.
@@PowerRepublic thank you guys, your stuff really helps me out, please post more vids. Absolutely love them 😎👊
@@gibseverything your are very welcome, where abouts do you live?
@@PowerRepublic i live in kenya mate 🇰🇪 but your videos really help out
@@PowerRepublic hey guys do you mind if i ask a question please, super simple?
I’m sorry kinda confused. Is using the hot sauce bottle a 2nd method to bleeding brakes? Like will it remove the spongy feel? And how long should I leave the brake nipple loose when it has a line attached to it.
its alternative method to bleeding the brakes. it will work if you don't have the correct tools.
leave the nipple open only long enough to let the air and fluid out. then close it off before you release the pressure of the brake pedal.
@@PowerRepublic thank you so much
Hello, can I use DOT 5?
Nice vid 👍👍👍
Hey Charlie, thank you. Did you share it on your FB?
@@PowerRepublic hey sorry I didn’t my dad controlles my FB I will get him to soon tho
One thing which i would like to fully understand is on the hydralic hand brake (used on front brakes or with rear brakes for disabled drivers ect). What is the recommended method to bleed that front handbrake system?
Fyi, i tied the steering off with the resavoir and pipe pointing upwards. Then used a small coke bottle taped ontop of the resavoir with brakefluid in to increase fluid volume. Then opened bleed valves and pumped, closing before air backed in and the lever released again. I did each nipple a few times ect until they worked. The hard part is dismantling the bottle without dousing the kart in brake fluid... how exactly is that avoided or is it normal?
Hey Chris, normally use the gravity method for the hand control front brakes. but I guess you could add pressure to the line by injecting with a syringe.
@@PowerRepublic getting fluid in did work, it just made a hell of a mess. I need something similar to the device you used with a tap to prevent spilling a bottle of fluid every where when i take the bottle res off the kart, but fits onto the tiny resavoir instead of the master cylinder part like the rear.
@@christianbuczko1481 yeah it get messy really quick
water can be be compressed??
anyways, love the channel!!
yeah when it is hot enough its steam (gas) and gives the spongy feel
Hi power republic, when my brakes aren’t on its lop sided but when it’s on it pulls straight and perfect, is that still fine ?
you can adjust that up on the brake pedal with the adjustment screw a little bit
What is the best way to bleed/ fill brakes with a 90's BSM brake calliper without a bleed nipple? I tried doing some gravity tricks but doesnt seem to get all the air out.
if you use the tomato sauce (ketchup) bottle you can add some pressure to the lines while bleeding. then open the bleed screws and let the fluid come out under pressure as you squeeze the bottle. give that a go and let me know if that fixes your problems. otherwise maybe you system needs new seals and a brake rebuild? if so I have a BSM brake rebuild video if you haven't checked that out yet?
@@PowerRepublic first of all thank you very much for your timely response, it makes life much easier for a newbie like me! I’ll give it a go over the weekend! Just have to get more brake fluid first lol
I did a complete re build as well thanks to your video!
Do i need Tony kart brake bleeding tool or i can go with a standard method with pushing brake pedal?
you can use a sauce bottle or the OTK bleeder tool. both work fine and I have covered them in another brake video
Thanks for this ive been doing it wrong for years🤣
No problem 👍
I tried the sauce bottle method. It filled up the reservoirs but there was no brake fluid coming out from the bleeder nipples. What could be wrong?
nipples could be blocked. did you have the reserviour caps on?
@@PowerRepublic Hi! I had the caps off. The reserviours filled up as I squeezed the bottle. Bleed nipples were cracked about 1/2 turns open.
@@nhmk6603 maybe try leaving the caps on for the bleeding so that they add some resistance so the fluid goes through the lines and not out of the rersiviours. then you can check them at the end and adjust the levels using a syringe
@@PowerRepublic Alright will give that a go! Thank you!🙏
My bleeding screw broke and stuck inside the socket, is there any other way to bleed the brake system without using this valve? i have a pcr chassis.
I would say weld somthing to the old bleed screw. Or use a bolt extractor and buy a new bleed screw once you get it out.
not really. they are soft on Tony Kart so easy to drill and use an Easy-out for extraction.
www.totaltools.com.au/6816-sutton-no-1-no-6-screw-extractor-set-easy-out-6pc-m603s15a
@@PowerRepublic I’ve never had much luck with those, but never really tried them on “loose” bolts
@@derucktorez2260 yeah they are my favourite option either, but sometimes it works
In the future, if the screws are too stuck, put a drop of oil to penatrate the threads and break the screw free. Have a towel handy to clean the oil from the threads.
Come on all of you they gay is doing a free video at least appreciate, That’s clever make sure to wear clove’s and wash with water when you finish,Some people might not have the money to buy the genuine bottle ,
thanks legend , glad you liked the vid
very confusing
