I just went to follow these tips - and I found out by accident that "Orange Agent" cleaner does a really good quick job as opposed to an overnight caustic soda bath.
That was only for the stinger cap end tho - it would need a lot of it for a full exhaust.

There's an American product called Fluid Film that it based on lanolin and also works very well to resist the rust on the exhaust and the axle

    • @PowerRepublic

Hey John, thanks heaps for tuning in and. watching the video. The lanolin is good for short term, but is still to light for longer storage. try using oil or trans fluid on both for better protection

Never tried the fire idea. I may chuck the pipe on the BBQ.
After a caustic soda bath for a few days I like to paint the outside of the pipe with rust converter (phosphoric acid), wash it off, and then buff it with a wire wheel. Comes up real pretty.

    Great Video.
HOWEVER... I can confirm, DO NOT soak the 3mm aluminium spacer that comes with the latest X30 Iame Exhaust!
The Spacer is alloy, the caustic soda disolves this.
Everything else can be chucked in without a worry though, the caustic soda works very well loosening the carbon off.

great question, the Rotax doesn't carbon up as much cause we use synthetic oils and only 20ml's of oil per litre of fuel. but on the EVO exhaust you can detect the stinger and soak the body of the pipe. then just change the exhaust wrap matting and you are good to go
