- In this video i will show you how to bleed your brakes by your self. Or doing a brake flush by yourself. bleeding brakes by yourself in a easy process especially when i show you how to make the one person brake bleeder tool. This video will be the same as how to flush your brakes by yourself. I will go over the brake bleeding order and how to determine the bleeding order of your brakes. or how to find out the bleeding order of your brakes when bleeding or flushing! AKA brake bleeding sequence. how to bleed brakes with one person. we also talk about abs module and how to bleed your brakes with an abs module. brake bleeding order with an abs module is different then with just master cylinder with brake fluid.

Yeah man no prob! Alot of people don't. That's why I really want to go in depth with it
Recently I got in the shower to wake myself up prior to doing my brake job... Glad I did because that's where I came up with this idea!: You can add a vacuum pump inline using an Aussie shampoo dispenser pump! The pump mates perfectly after pulling off the top head and bottom feed tube 😃. Fits clear vinyl tubing with 1/4" ID and 3/8 OD ...without any extra hardware! (Tubing fits over the top and inside the bottom of the Aussie purple pump)
Perfect for Ford F150/F250 btw. Great for pumping out the master too.
Note: Use a pair of pliers to hold the top plunger from moving as you shove the tubing on in place of the Aussie pump's head. I also added some 3M 33+ electrical tape to secure the bottom connection but that's probably overkill/unnecessary.😁
Bonus tip: Use a short funnel in the master to overfill it as you pump fluid from the 4 corners.

the bottle should be above the caliper for air to rise, simple coat hanger and you can hang it from your coils
very helpful... Ive known about the 2-man method for a long time, and I started buying 1-man method tools trying different ones to see what i liked (including reverse bleeding). But even my 1991 SE Miata has ABS...I didn't know to use the ABS module as the starting point to determine which corner to start from...I would have gone with the 'DR, PR, PF, DF' typical US vehicle set up. But now I know to actually swap that, and start with the passenger rear first. Thanks!

Buddy, I love your videos, but I feel compelled to correct this common misconception about bleeding the brakes. It is a one-person job, but it’s even simpler than you described. The ONLY reason you need a plastic bottle and hose is to keep your floor clean. The modern master cylinder has residual pressure valves at each exit port. Their purpose is to keep a little pressure in the lines for instant braking. Without them, the driver would need to pump up the brakes for every stop. The RPVs keep air from being sucked back into the system when you open a bleeder. Also, you should NEVER push the brake pedal to the floor, especially on an older vehicle. The normal travel of a master cylinder piston is about 1 to 2 inches. The “untraveled” portion of the master cylinder can get some pitting from sediment in the brake fluid (it gets worse with age). Pushing the brake pedal to the floor rams that rubber piston seal through the pitted portion of the cylinder and usually tears it, and then you need to rebuild or replace the master cylinder. If you open the bleeder and pump the pedal the NORMAL TRAVEL of the brake pedal, the air will be pushed out and the RPVs will keep air from being sucked in. Please try it.
If you don't use a tube and bottle, how do you know when there is no more air coming out of the system? When the tube is filled with fluid and no air bubbles you know you are done, or am I missing something?

This methods inferior. Trapped air is a thing. Ask your local shop how they bleed brakes.... they pressurize the system by sucking or blowing or both.
This method is really meant to get most fluid to the caliper... then properly bleed by pumping and dumping or by using an air tool.

Yes. Just did mines as preventative Maintenance. I notice if you open the bleeder valve too much it will leak air. I just turned mine very little. Thanks for this video reminder.

A rare, twist-top skinny/tall Gatorade bottle is awesome. It has a mouthpiece on the bottle and the very top part can be removed and then the existing hole can be trimmed by hand with a 3/8" drill bit for 3/8" tubing (air tight!).
Dollar tree had/has these tall/sturdy Gatorade bottles for $1.25 each which is a deal by itself😃

Great video sir, i have a 2017 tacoma the ABS module is on the passenger right side under 5he hood as it was on this car you show in this video, would i bleed the brakes exact same way LR-RR-LF-RF would this be correct?
Google: Brake fluid is not corrosive to metals. However it being hydroscopic it will absorb water which if not kept up to specification and changed regularly can cause corrosion inside the braking system metal pipes.

So the Honda manual I have says to bleed in this order FR,FL,RR and RL.. so a little confused after watching this video!! Not sure if it’s different with Generations with Hondas or does it not really matter?? Also the ABS Module is located same as the one on this video. I appreciate your response sir!

It's my understanding that some vehicles have the ABS module mounted underneath the vehicle which complicates this process. I've also heard that the corvette has 2 bleeder valves per brake. But the vehicle I worked on today was a 2014 Xterra. Anyway, i was wondering about those air bubbles. I noticed on 2 of my brakes that there were air bubbles in the hose but they were moving away from the bleeder valve and towards the collection bottle. I take it that is normal? At any rate, the brakes seem to function OK on my test drive so I guess I got the job done right.
Just a heads up.
You still have to trace the brake lines. My 97 Camry is set up the same way with the master cylinder @ driver front, ABS @ passenger front, but the rear brake lines run along the driver side frame rail. Rear Passenger then cuts back under the trunk between the gas tank & the spare tire, making it the furthest.
What's the size of the bleeder valves on this specific vehicle for both front and rear? Will a pipe with 1/4 ID work for this job?
My gto abs module is on the right hand side too. I don’t think it’s an import thing I think it’s just random on the cars engine bay. Because even left hand drive monaros (what the 04-06 gto was derived from) have the same architecture and I think some American made vettes have master on driver side abs module on right

does it matter if the car is running or not? 2007 Hyundai Tucson, have tried using a vac pump and can't get any vacuum, I know the pump is good.

excuse me, my car is bmw 218i 2015 (automatic), if keep pressing on the brake pedal, it gets harder and harder to press before I release the bleeder valve 6:08.... when I start the car with the engine on, the brake pedal press turns normal. I would like to bleed the brakes by myself, but do I need to start my car? thank you and good video!! would the brake pedal press soft as normal if I released the valve without the engine on?

I didn’t see you loosing the bleed nip before bleeding the breaks but yet I seen you tighten it back up so do we unscrew the break nip on the caliber
To keep the sequence, dont you need to start next to the master cylinder, go around and finish on the master cylinder tire?
what about this idea that i haven't tried but i would think would work.....get a speed bleeder and loosen the bleed on the caliper. Put the speed bleeder on one and of a plastic tube and the other end on the caliper bleeder. Any reason that wouldn't work as a one man bleed idea?

Maybe a little longer when you account for the time lifting the car multiple times, refilling the reservoir, removing and installing all 4 tires but let's say that within 2 hours its perfectly reasonable to have this done and save about $100.

The engine should be off and the car in park. Remember, you are jacking up the car and removing the tire to do this. Safety first!

i have honda accord CL7 and at first i bled the brakes old school, but than i got the manual from honda and it is very particular . 1.driver side 2. passenger 3. back passenger passenger 4. back driver passenger ( i could send you the picture)
Great video! The one thing you didn't mention is , don't you want clean the plastic drill shavings out of the bottle before starting the procedure?
Of course. also, he forgot to mention to suck the old oil first from the master and use it as a base in the bottle. Also will be a good idea to do this when you will do a tire rotation. I do oil changes and tire rotation at the same time, so at that moment will be very easy to do it all.

My ABS Module and master cylinder are both located in the same position where my driver side is (right hand side)
How do you watch the line and bottle if you are in the car pumping the brake pedal?
if you have a camera, ipad or old iphone and do the facetime.
Question do I leave the cap off whiles pumping the brakes or the cap stays on while pumping ?
Cap stays on or you can introduce air into the system and you run the risk of contaminates getting into your system.
That's why if you look in cap there is a rubber seal that comes down if fluid is low to prevent air from getting in system. Cap always on.
