I enjoy the occasional tobacco pipe and cigar. I'm of the opinion that doing so in moderation isn't very harmful and in fact can enhance one's life with much needed relaxation and reduced stress. Stress is a big killer and can shave many years off a person's life. It's important to destress and decompress, especially in this stressful and fast paced world. Kudos to you for covering this topic. Thank you sir.
i smoke cigars for giving myself sole free time, not being affected by wife or kid, but giving yourself alone time to calm, contemplate. It's imperative for mental health, nicotine...oufff, what about the gas from the running cars on the street.
Fun fact... There was an FDA funded study earlier this year on the health effects of cigar smoking. It was performed by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine (NASEM). The study was pretty clear that the risks associated with smoking cigars is directly proportionate to how often you indulge and how deeply you inhale. So cigars, much like any other "vice" (alcohol, sugar, sodium, dairy products, etc.) requires measured and regulated use by the user. I only enjoy Dominican cigars (Davidoff and Fuente specifically), because they are fermented and aged MUCH longer and in a more involved capacity than Cubans. No product in Habanos S.A.'s suite of cigar brands is fermented and aged to the degree of the most premium Davidoff or Fuente (e.g. the Davidoff Royal Release is aged 8yrs after 2yrs of curing and fermentation before release to the public, the Fuente Don Carlos No. 2 has tobaccos aged on average 10yrs, and several others are aged on average 4+yrs before release to the public). Cubans are fermented for but a few months and not aged beyond 1-2yrs generally. Hence, Cubans will tend to have more nicotine, tar and ammonia than Dominican cigars like Davidoff and Fuente. Additionally, Cubans tend to use more ligero, Viso (and Medio tiempo in Behike's), which have higher concentrations of nicotine, tar and ammonia. So not only do Cuban's have more nicotine, tar and ammonia than top Dominican brands, but they are not fermented for very long, nor are they aged long either, which is why you literally have to sit on Cuban cigars for 3, 5, 8yrs or more to get all of that stuff out of it. Lastly, I suggest afficiandos not only enjoy more fermented and aged cigars than not (Davidoffs and Fuente's aged 5yrs or more)... but also suggest you restrict yourself to perhaps no more than 1 or 2 cigars a week. Which will dramatically reduce the degree of impurities entering your body.
Great comment and really informative. Thank you. I typically smoke 1 or 2 a week and they will range is sizes depending on available time. The reality is its no worse than drinking a can of coke a day, or a Mars bar, or drinking alcohol (which I dont) or eating processed foods every day.
@@kmwilkinson163Agree 100%. I actually try to balance my cigar vice by reducing other vices like sugar intake (I quite sugary drinks), and I try to go meatless once a week. I also try to workout 3 days a week. Key to enjoying a vice is balance. Just my two cents though. 😊

I smoke 3 cigars a day it gives me pleasure and relaxation and I’ve never felt better ❤ reducing stress and anxiety ❤ never felt healthier and happier when I’m smoking a fine Cuban cigar 😊 that’s got to be a winner 😊
Many studies showed us that nicotine by itself it’s not harmful at all, it helps concentrate and helps focusing, also relaxes too, but it can create addiction. The harmful substances in Cigars are tar, ammonia etc… if present, but even inhaling the smoke from your car is not healthy at all, in fact far more dangerous than cigar smoke, so as Jasmin said, keep it in moderation and you’ll live a happy life.
Have seen many videos of Cuban farmers that roll their own cigars taking the middle stem of the leaves and they say that, that's the 98% of the nicotine, and that factories only take half of it, so the customer can get addicted and go back to buy more, but I do agree with you, I'm a beginner smoker and enjoy it
You let out most of the smoke in your mouth then retro-hale it. That will make it less uncomfortable, and you also get a ton of flavors from the smoke from doing it. I do it alot now and have enjoyed my cigars much more by doing that.
6:01 I have to eat sugar packets or candy because I sometimes get sick from smoking a cigar either by accidentally inhaling it or not eating before a cigar but yes better than eating sugar.
Don’t forget that when you hold smoke in your mouth the nicotine is absorbed by the gums, tongue and mouth linings. Also, it’s hard to deny that while lungs may not be affected in cigar smoking, concerns of mouth cancer do exist.
The thing is, its not the nicotine itself thats unhealthy with smoking, but rather inhaling the smoke (and e.g. with cigarettes, that also includes smoke from burning paper and a lot of chemicals) to your lungs.
nicotne itself are not harmful, but the thing is that if you want the nicotine buzz you are forced to inhale the cigarette smoke to get it. thats why people gett addicted to smoke. nicotine are not harmful according to some recourse
@daniel-qf2cb You do not inhale- every cigar aficionados knows this. With the exception being those inner city thugs and trailer parkers who frequent their foreign owned corner stores to buy SWISHER SWEETS BACKWOODS BLACK & MILDS FLAVORED CIGARS WHITE OWL and other junk brand sticks mistakenly labeled cigars.
Quote Fermentation, tar and nicotine.. quote- "The third fermentation is nothing new. It is the old way of doing things. But it greatly reduces tars and nicotine in the Cohiba... we say in Cuba, that those who smoke Cohiba will never die of cancer, but those who don't will die of envy!". I have only had 2 cigars in my life, both of which I enjoyed at the time BUT did feel shaky / brian fog / anxiety hours after I was done. Nicotine withdrawals? It’s sad cus I do enjoy them. But the after effects are not fun at all. Any way to avoid that?
The toxic chemical is the burn and the ash. It’s those that stick your lungs or your respiratory system and potentially cause cancer. When you exhale, you breathe in your own second hand smoke. Even if you hold it only in the mouth, you still bring it down to the lungs through normal breathing. So yes, it’s still extremely unhealthy and put you at a high health risk. I would also like to remind everyone to check your insurance. Some has conditions that does not cover your health cost if you are an active smoker. I’m not telling people to stop because cigars to me is an work of art and I love them. Having it once in a while is probably ok. Daily is too much in my opinion. Just be aware of the high cost and health risk.
Cigars are like alcohol about talking health. If you drink too much alcohol it is unhealthy. But if you drink twice a week it is healthy for body. Tasting cigars twice a week is very enjoyable definitely 💯 👍🏻
Absolutely true. I can smoke 3 cigars in one day but no cigars for a few days. I never have the urge. I used to smoke cigarettes and then quit. Cigarettes are addictive because of ammonia, urea and other solvents that they use. Totally different!
Smoking cigars on a daily basis could pose a risk to developing mouth cancer (and it's pretty expensive for the common man like myself). But smoking for special occasions or even once per weekend won't do much harm at all. It really all boils down to moderation vs excess. Great video! I agree with many of the points you made!
I'm sure it happens, but I've known many people who have smoked cigars every day for over 30 years and never had any issues. I think mouth cancer is extremely rare and other factors could contribute.
