Exactly, which is why those sorts of cams are not a realistic representation of a driver’a view / experience. They simply give us viewers headaches haha
Wow, the visual difference between a street circuit and a road course is insane! So much to absorb in fractions of a second, with walls coming at you very fast. I am exhausted after two laps; I couldn't imagine doing 70 or so laps of that. Great stuff!
Nice video. Really makes you appreciate the skill and beastlyness of these race cars, so fast and yet pure with no power steering, it really is all about the skill of the driver.
I grew up with Formula 1 and Michael Schumacher in Germany, but I always preferred Indy and even NASCAR. I played the living crap out of the mid 90s Papyrus titles. Long story short - Indy game. Give. Now.
I'm astonished of how many times they engage the first gear to turn. In F1 they use it only once a race (at the start) and on two turns in all of their calendar.
and the st peters track itself for the fans is not so fan friendly, unless your rich of course. but at long beach its better, i was told that by david land himself while i was at the alabama grand prix. alabama is very very fan friendly, lots of food vendors, good spots to watch the race, and a big chance to meet alot of famous people.
@@jean-lucdupuis7052 Because, in name of a misplaced sense of "safety", we love racing in tracks designed on computers. But don't think that we Europeans like Tilkedromes, they're fucking garbage.
@@filippoforni6781 Whats wrong with COTA, Bahrain, Malaysia, Turkey...? They can't be all good and some like Hockenheim had to be that way or they couldn't exist.
exactly. These cars turn laptimes similar to Senna's F1 cars of the 90s, if not a little faster. And thank god, the onboards from Senna to current IndyCar actually look similar, unlike current F1 (which I still watch) were the car is just totally glued to the track with 5,000,000 lbs of downforce, and the driver barely having to turn the thing with power steering. Lando Norris recently drove an F3 car and remarked how it was harder to drive than a modern F1 car...
@@Leijona321 LOL half of F1s tracks have 50 miles of runoff and zero risk for the drivers. Someone tries to pass you? Just push them off track into the 50 miles of runoff... in Indy, you push someone wide you put them in the wall or in the grass, no margin for error. No power steering. No 5,000,0000 lbs of down force gluing the car to the track. Still going just as fast if not faster than F1 cars of the glory years (80s-90s). Was Senna driving too slow? Compare how he's working the car to how Hamilton barely has to work his (other than technical management and excessive tire management)... these IndyCars require driving a lot more in common with Senna and Piquet and Mansel syle than today's safety blanketed F1 cars with power steering and so much down force why even bother braking? Sure they're faster, but look at how not on the limit the actual races are, driving like 10 seconds slower than in qualifying, weighted down with fuel (no refuling...), just managing tires and waiting to just activate DRS and pass your rival long before you ever see a corner...
5:55 can you guys inovate a brake pedal and downshift paddles so that the drivers stop flying out of the track on turn 19 of COTA? That'd be super cool. It would make Indycar look professional on that track. Thanks.
I think from a tv standpoint higher speeds look better to the audience if you aren’t in to technical driving (although it’s all technical at that level) but I’d imagine street courses are awesome in person. I live in Indy so I go to the 500 often and it’s a jaw dropping experience, but just once I’d love to see indycars rip through the streets of Indianapolis. Don’t get me wrong though. Sitting in turn one at the 500 is incredible and sitting in the field where you can pitch a canopy and have some drinks while you watch the race is equally awesome.
go to an indycar race, get up to the fence and you'll take that back. Are LMP1 cars slow??? Cornering speed isn't everything... compare how these drivers are working their vehicle to how an F1 driver works theirs... F1 with power steering and 5,000000000 lbs of downforce the drivers look like their just on a summer cruise whereas IndyCar drivers look like the F1 drivers of the 80s and 90s... and the laptimes are about the same as Senna's 91 McLaren... Was Senna too slow?
Shoot me, but I don't like helmet cams... it is too shaky and the driver has to lean his head in every corner, it's difficult to see where he is on track and how fast he's going... it's a race I want to watch, not a movie
Just for the record... the actual drivers' eyes don't shake like that, there's a natural compensation which fixes the stare to the horizon.
Well yea it's kinda hard to get that representation through a camera but I see what you're saying
maybe our eyes is correcting the image/view to our brain? who knows
ibrahim turan
That’s literally what he said
Kind of like when you're jogging the world around you does not appear to shake but it would look terribly shaky with a camera.
Exactly, which is why those sorts of cams are not a realistic representation of a driver’a view / experience. They simply give us viewers headaches haha

Spot on ... you've truly got to get up on that wheel and hustle that thing.
That tire was an inch from a wall so many times. The speed around those corners is insane
I am SO GLAD that this was a thing and they took plenty of videos before they added the windscreen.
Haven't looked back to Indy car in like thousands of years...damn these cars are nuts and sound good too
That wind sound. It's like trying to interview somebody in the Falkland Islands
This might be my favorite UA-cam video of all time. Thanks!
I want to see more videos like this on UA-cam. They’re just awesome I love it.
Nice to see plenty of road coarse in the Indy series!
we need an official indy car video game!! cmon guys there is a huge demand for that.

I can watch the whole race in this cam!
The difference in speed between the ovals and street circuits is insane! Good video, thanks! 😎
Not to mention bumpiness.
every corner makes 3G brooo
14:50 is that the Toronto FC stadium? nice. I prefer the road courses tho, most of them look nice.
This is a great video. Thanks.
Toronto and Long Beach are my favourite tracks. Mid-Ohio and Barber are close behind
The sense of speed from this visor cam in insane!
Laguna Seca and Chicagoland are needed here and a Fontana or Michigan to have an ultrafast 2-mile D-shaped oval again in the race calendar.
This video should be featured in the IndyCar and Racer. Amazing view!
Awesome video! Definitely gonna enjoy coming back to this and re-watching often.
Watkins Glen looks like such a high speed track, imagine F1 cars going around that.
Dr. Bananable Lector f1 used race at the Glen a long time ago
CartRacer56 the FIA would just ruin the track like theyve ruined all the classic European counterparts
Pretty sure many died in that track in the old F1 days. Francois Cevert RIP
Got a poster for the 1970 GP at the glen
They did back in the 60s which was really dangerous.
So i get bruises from my full motion seat and force feedback wheel in iracing. Can't imagine doing it for real like this, but would love to!

What's that glorious noise at 9:00, the Rev limiter?
Incredible video 😊
Thanks 👍 That was very enjoyable to view.
Woah just came across this...epic!!!
I wish Premier Sports could do a deal with the Indycar series and show it on Freesports like they do NASCAR. I'd watch it over F1GP anyday!

This is giving me Project Cars 2 vibes. 👊
I’d love to see F1 do a Qualifying lap around Long Beach it would pretty cool.
Daniel Richardson is love to drive on that track. It’s home lol

Adore the road courses in IndyCar. Not a huge fan of ovals but respect the pace they run round them. Loved the look of the Elkart Lake track.

SilverArrow_xxx but there is no power steering
@_SilverArrow_xxx Yeah for 0,0000001 second when they breaking. 3+ G for 10 seconds straight in some oval is way more hard.

10:33 pissed me off, not because of the driving, but that sticker on the steering wheel wasn't stuck on properly

Non oval IndyCar races is what F1 should look like. Except for the halo. The halo is saving lifes already.

So much better than F1
So much slower and so much worse tracks, so much worse drivers and so much worse cars. But atleast more competition.
Epicci cars are faster in an oval then f1 and some drivers from INDYCAR move to f1 and some f1 to INDYCAR so not really

That’s the only Indy track with massive runoff so Indy just said if it’s paved and not corner cutting use it

Canadians don't even maintain their tracks. I can't imagine the kind of beatdown a driver has to suffer just racing on it. South Park was right.
What about Kansas? Miami/Homestead? Vegas?
Las Vegas unlikely after 2011 fatality. But a clip of a lap at Laguna Seca would be nice.
That last turn at long beach is a bitch.
imagine if Gordon Smiley's crash would be recorded in such a format...... Things happen so fast at 200mph.....
Thank god it wasn't, the original pictures are horrific enough.

When braking they can experience negative G
It depends on the frame of reference
Boy do these cars look ugly. I am so happy I saw them in the 80s and 90s.

I dont understand why people sont like street races.
because it typically means less overtaking because of the lack of straights. And theyre often quite technical
Because people like choreographed races instead of real racing.
