I realized yesterday that ball handling is not literally about how you handle the ball to crossover, it's actually mostly about your footwork. this video just proved that what I just realized was true
Words cannot express how grateful I am after finding these videos. If I could, I would hug you rn fam. I just started learning how to play and these fundamentals right here are exactly what I needed- playing with others just got more fun. Much appreciated my guy, god bless you.
Jeremy Shardo sure no problem. I coach my daughters team and this is the most important aspect of teaching footwork. People are too concerned with watching the ball. Tempo, footwork, and timing ur steps when the ball hits the ground are very important. I was a subscriber to your channel for years but I haven’t seen content from you in a while. Welcome back
the best coach online - no bs just straight fundamentals that you need to get down before you can start cookin opponents. hope you can make more vids soon coach !
I have watched a lot of basketball training vids on YT and yours are some of the best! You really excel at explaining things on a very fundamental level and it's a shame there are not more of your vids!
Watching again after some half court with friends just rewatching to get it more rooted/pick up stuff I might’ve missed but im loving the improvements its already made
footwork is the most important to me, u just have to run/move/stop on a dime, the dribble moves like cross, behind, tweens will come along the way as u move
The first drill, you are "popping your feet" which basically means your feet are hitting the ground at the same time as you chance direction. On the anchor step, you are stopping your momentum on your inside foot, then anchor step, and change direction.
Hi Jeremy, thank you for video, I've finally understood what exactly do they mean by "footwork". Can you explain the major difference between the first and the second exercise though? In explanation part they look different, but when you practice them I can't really see the difference, you still need to pop you anchored feet to redirect it in required direction quickly
The biggest difference is that in the first exercise you're feet hit the ground at the same when you change direction. In the second exercise "anchor step" you are stopping your momentum on your front foot, then using the anchor step, you pivot and change direction. The first move is more explosive, and the second move is more focused on stopping your momentum and changing direction
You definitely could on a crossover... I just wanted you to practice popping your feet. Helps you get on balance when performing other moves just as behind the back, and between the legs
On the pop step, You are basically coming to a jumpstop with two feet at the same time. On the anchor step, you are stopping your momentum on your inside foot.

Push off with those legs individually
Fact. Dribbling can be done stationary; but the ball doesn't beat the defender, the body (feet) do.

This is so real
im having trouble identifying the difference between the first drill and the anchor step. Could you clarify?
The first drill, you are "popping your feet" which basically means your feet are hitting the ground at the same time as you chance direction.
On the anchor step, you are stopping your momentum on your inside foot, then anchor step, and change direction.
Why tf is it so hard for me to get this shit right
You'll get it, just takes practice!
Thank you sir
Nice

@@jeremyshardo325 More than helpful Sir... Especially in this quarintine moments... God bless you 🙏

Great work sir ❤️
nice
How many months it’ll take to see improvements?
How much work do you put in a day?
Can these moves be done with a weighted basketball?
You definitely can, you just won't be able to move as quickly!
Can i do this everyday
No doubt! I will highly recommend you do this everyday!

How to do pop ?
1st move 00:49
I couldn’t understand the difference between the two. Looks like you’re using anchor step on the first exercise
On the crossover, the footwork seems pretty similar. You can tell the difference on b/t legs, and behind the back move
Sir why are you splitting feet at 1:15 ????
Why can't you just crossover without splitting feet????
You definitely could on a crossover...
I just wanted you to practice popping your feet. Helps you get on balance when performing other moves just as behind the back, and between the legs
@@jeremyshardo325 sir if I am in fast brake, what should I do - POP MY FEET or NOT while performing basic crossover like you did at 1:15????
@@VishalKumar-ij1ni you def don’t play basketball
whats the difference between the pop step and anchor step?
On the pop step, You are basically coming to a jumpstop with two feet at the same time.
On the anchor step, you are stopping your momentum on your inside foot.
This does not deserve to be underrated
I appreciate you!
3:10 Anchor Step
which move is the most versatile?
I would say between the legs is the move that is used the most when going by a defender!
