    I realized yesterday that ball handling is not literally about how you handle the ball to crossover, it's actually mostly about your footwork. this video just proved that what I just realized was true

      Fact. Dribbling can be done stationary; but the ball doesn't beat the defender, the body (feet) do.

      Jeremy Shardo sure no problem. I coach my daughters team and this is the most important aspect of teaching footwork. People are too concerned with watching the ball. Tempo, footwork, and timing ur steps when the ball hits the ground are very important. I was a subscriber to your channel for years but I haven’t seen content from you in a while. Welcome back

    footwork is the most important
    to me, u just have to run/move/stop on a dime,
    the dribble moves like cross,behind, tweens will come along the way as u move

    im having trouble identifying the difference between the first drill and the anchor step. Could you clarify?

    • @jeremyshardo325
      @jeremyshardo325  Рік тому +1

      The first drill, you are "popping your feet" which basically means your feet are hitting the ground at the same time as you chance direction.
      On the anchor step, you are stopping your momentum on your inside foot, then anchor step, and change direction.

    Hi Jeremy, thank you for video, I've finally understood what exactly do they mean by "footwork". Can you explain the major difference between the first and the second exercise though? In explanation part they look different, but when you practice them I can't really see the difference, you still need to pop you anchored feet to redirect it in required direction quickly

    • @jeremyshardo325
      @jeremyshardo325  2 роки тому +4

      The biggest difference is that in the first exercise you're feet hit the ground at the same when you change direction. In the second exercise "anchor step" you are stopping your momentum on your front foot, then using the anchor step, you pivot and change direction.
      The first move is more explosive, and the second move is more focused on stopping your momentum and changing direction

      On the crossover, the footwork seems pretty similar. You can tell the difference on b/t legs, and behind the back move

    Why can't you just crossover without splitting feet????

    • @jeremyshardo325

      You definitely could on a crossover...
      I just wanted you to practice popping your feet. Helps you get on balance when performing other moves just as behind the back, and between the legs

    whats the difference between the pop step and anchor step?

    • @jeremyshardo325
      @jeremyshardo325  Рік тому +1

      On the pop step, You are basically coming to a jumpstop with two feet at the same time.
      On the anchor step, you are stopping your momentum on your inside foot.
