With each passing day I realize just how good we had it with companies like EVGA. If only we could go back...
Blame Nvidia and their poor treatment of “partners”.
Honestly they should face heavy scrutiny for their anti consumer and anti competitive behavior.
My EVGA card will always be the crowning jewel of my computer.
I'll be devastated if it ever eats it but honestly because it's from them I have my doubts that it will.
Love and miss you eVGA
Wish they just made amd super good 😢
Nvidia were the problem, we weren't to blame.
I've only ever had EVGA cards, it's going to feel weird going elsewhere should I ever upgrade my RTX2080.
2:39 Linus talking about ASUS and saying "this is a TUF one for me" and not realising the joke is precious.
They write a script to go through so he, or the writers of that script know.

Imagine taking your car to the mechanic because the AC went out and when they call you to come pick it up they give your car back fully rebuilt and painted with a $30,000 bill because there was a scratch somewhere under the hood. And the AC still doesn't work.
We are going through this $5,200 later.... Continuing to fight currently. Bad techs, bad management, have taken legal actions and we STILL have not been made right. 5 grand and a broken car
I see you've dealt with a Dodge dealership.
That's so nice of them to let your get your car back assembled and didn't threaten to leave the car in a million pieces
that does actually happen lol

Literally everyone: Take your sorry and shove it.
I don’t get it

Got the G14. Amazing laptop by design, horrible production QC and customer support. And this has been a repeated pattern for them.
I don't have G14 in my country, i thought on importing it but most of the comments in the BestBuy were like "great product, but got it RMA 3 times before getting a functional unity" and i gave it up
@@pedro4205 yeah they’re not exaggerating
I had my trackpad and keyboard stop working during an essay I was writing, which is unacceptable, so I returned it to best buy under it's warranty and got an HP envy. The biggest thing is it needs to not fail, and it did.
Same! Have a G15, great design, extremely poor quality control, and never got resolved by support
As someone who brought a Acer Nitro 5 a few years back, the price-performance was great, but the build quality and rigidity was severely lacking. The G14 would've probably been my second choice, kinda regret not getting one of those instead
On top of all that, Asus home routers also used to be great, now they drop wifi constantly forcing you to restart your devices to get connectivity back
i remember using a asus wifi extender for a while no idea why but that thing would always crash whenever i booted on my ubuntu vm back then it was hillarious and made no sense at all
I love how he just does not mention that this is after a GamerNexus video. The wound is still open lol
Clearly yeah
So still not on good terms with GN?
Yeah, I noticed how they just happened to be talking about it, but never mentioned Steve or GN at all.
They got cut deep apparently, lol.
GN kind of blindsided them so they probably have also decided to treat GN differently
It’s about time they work everything out, I think GN reached out to them prior to the story breaking.
Does Gamers Nexus even do anything positive? Every single thumbnail from them I see seems to be them complaining about something with their main guy making some silly face. I had to stop watching their videos because it was just so much whining.
@@nhoj30 I will agree that Steve can be quite off putting with his snark, but his team does amazing work.
Is it just me or is it odd, their inability to even mention the name Gamersnexus anymore? I feel like in the past in similar situations they call out the leading source that broke the story, or however you want to put it, but ever since LMG themselves got called out there's been 2 or 3 times, including now, that they just refuse to acknowledge their existence.
I definitely see them avoiding even mentioning them. Seems standard for LMG unfortunately

Last time when they mentioned GN it didn't go well for them. Linus not taking any chances this time

I'm still dealing with them not honoring their warranty for a ASUS - TUF GAMING X670E-PLUS. The mb didn't turn on after a complete shutdown out of nowhere 6 weeks after purchase. I sent it in double boxed in pristine condition....I was sent back a picture of a damaged motherboard (corner was bent). They said customer induced damage...but when I sent them video of them to help troubleshoot...you could clearly see it wasn't bent...(even took pics of the mb being packed).
They said they would send another RMA label...5 months ago!!!! (I still haven't received it. Sent them an email asking for the RMA with links to this video and Gamer Nexus
Razer should take note
A couple weeks ago my son's laptop broke 2 months out of warranty. ASUS website said Micro Center was an authorized repair shop, they charged 40 to check it and quoted the fix at 2,300 US dollars, the laptop cost 1,150 brand new.
Gamer's Nexus's released a video about the FTC looking into Asus's warranty activity recently and how to fill out easy FTC complaint forms as well as consumer rights education it was interesting. Worth saying you aren't the only people they are basically scamming. It seems the US government is recently turning their eye to look into them. Gamer's Nexus is also getting in touch with Congressmen and Senators about the issue which is interesting as they are one of the few channels I can think of with the journalistic reach to accomplish that
Which video was Luke referring to? The one with the good arc...
Imo, it's fraud. And their misdirecting response you called an apology just showed they don't understand or won't take responsibility for their terrible terrible behaviour. I won't Asus anymore.
if they do this to powerful markets where consumer voice has weight, imagine what they do to markets where clients are silenced. Such abusive company.
The odd thing about all of this is I had multiple RMAs with Asus in the past 3 or 4 years and every single one of them has been an outstanding experience. My replacement was shipped out in 2 business days and I received a replacement product within a week of them receiving my defective part.
I still have my 3Dfx Voodoo 5500 AGP card just for nostalgia because when I first started gaming it was the best of the best before it I had a Real3D Starfighter 64 bit card.
8 RMA on 4 asus products, gotta love it. Most recently was their X670e mobo and even when I offered to pay out of pocket for the difference in price to a different mobo, they just would not replace it. I was out of a motherboard for over a month and ended up having to buy one from the store because Asus took so long. Also apparently the number to call was long distance for me, so out $100 on top. Gotta love asus.
How does one, make ludicrous quotes for cosmetic and inconsequential things none related to warranty claims.
The Trojans in their software years ago was the sign for me.
JJ still working for this company is just a miracle!
The sad thing for me is that I have only had good experiences with Asus RMA's. Seeing everyone have these issues with them makes me feel sad. I am questioning using their products because, like Linus says, they are quite good.
This smacks of AI in the CRM generating emails based on tech notes
A friend of mine got charged £300 to have a battery replaced in their Asus laptop.
Sterling Pound?
That violates the Consumer Rights Act 2015 Section 23: Right to repair or replacement: 132. This section details a consumer’s right to insist on repair or replacement of faulty goods, the COST of which must be borne by the trader. This includes the trader bearing any COSTS involved in the removal of an installed item and reinstallation of a replacement. A replacement would usually need to be identical, that is of the same make and model and if the goods were bought new then the replacement would need to be new.
You could point them towards reporting this to Trading Standards and have them write to Asus informing them of this and demand a refund. Worth a try, £300 is a decent chunk of money.
@@SAFFY7411 yeah, they ended up cancelling the repair with ASUS and took it to a local computer repair shop and paid about £120 for parts and labour and told trading standards about it.
Reminds you of anything Linus?
Exactly!
You mean between him and Gamer Nexus 😬
I sent my laptop back to asus because the keyboard stopped working, was out of warranty, costed $70 and they replaced the keyboard on the laptop and sent it back to me.
I too run ASUS motherboards. Maybe I'll get EVGA motherboards in the future, I respected how EVGA dealt with Nvidia drama.
Only as sorry as the bottom-line falls...
ASUS have been doing very wall hardware-wise, until they update that device and all of the sudden it's all broken. It has been a problem in almost all of their products, even their smartphones suffer the same thing. Hardware is good, software is bad, support is worse.
- By the way if their customer support is this bad in NA you have no idea how worse they are here in Southeast Asia, they are much worse! As soon as they see scratches (even the minor ones) in your device they will reject your warranty!
@6:46 - I don't know if it's still the case, but in my past, in order to root some of my Android devices I absolutely needed Intel system to root my device. My personal computer/laptops were AMD and for the life of me I absolutely could not get my PC to detect my Android in Fastboot mode, regardless of having all the needed drivers, regardless of tryin all USB ports, front and back. Days of trying, and reinstalling. I looked up my issue, found out that several people with AMD processors could not root Android devices, something to do with how AMD processors at the time handled USB.
So I picked up a cheap Intel laptop from Walmart, some shitty Intel Atom processor that was dog fucking slow, but I installed drivers for the Android device, installed drivers for ADB, boot into Fastboot, my device was detected, then I rooted and flashed my custom recover.
Boxed up that shitty laptop and took it back 3 hours later.
Just to clarify, not an Intel fanboy, not an AMD fanboy... But in one specific niche situation, Intel was the brand that got that onejob done, and it wasn't about the power of the processor.
So when I hear someone say they prefer Intel over AMD for compatibility reasons, this experience comes to mind.
It was for that specific rooting issue that I purchased an awful Windows 8 tablet that was everywhere a decade ago. It cost $50, it came with 2 GB of ram, the 1st generation of those shitty atom processors, 32GB of slow emmc storage. And I still have it till this day just to root an Android device if I need to.
For everything else, my ROG Ally and OnePlus 12 are good enough for my gaming needs
I think this is an ongoing problem with AMD. My old AMD desktop had problems talking to my UPS that the Intel desktop it replaced never did. A BIOS and driver update eventually fixed it, but it took almost a year.
@@jbmcb I guess Linus, who only has time to run his business and do casual gaming, never ran into niche issues where Intel vs AMD actually mattered that didn't involve raw performance of the CPUs, because I absolutely can see why it would matter why some people may prefer one brand over another for very small but meaningful reasons.
I'm still mostly using AMD and I haven't needed to root an Android since 2018/2019, but I still understand why some might still prefer Intel, or why the distinction may matter to them
Very interesting thoughts. I have a friend who's going into cybersec and requires intel due to Hyper-V, something to do with virtual machines I'm not sure. In either case yeah, he loves AMD, but won't use it as his main rig due to that issue. Sadly some things just don't work on AMD. It's interesting to note thought, it can go the other way too, to a certain extent. A good example of this is AVX512 instruction set. Intel removed this years ago but AMD kept it around, and for this reason, anyone that needs that, AMD is the only option. As for me I have a mini pc and little experience this is all anecdotal lol.
I personally never had issues doing that with amd. Rooted my phone back in the day using a computer with their apu in 2011. Managed to soft brick that same phone at some point and even unbricking went without issues on that same pc.
Also more recently flashed custom roms to me and my gf's OnePlus 7 pros after support for them ended, on my pc with Ryzen 3900X, again no issues at all.
@@LindonSlaght Hyper-V does support AMD processors, I use Hyper-V VMs regularly on my Ryzen CPU. Intel and AMD have different extensions for virtualization support, but all common virtualization software supports both these days, and have for quite a while now.
Which means, ASUS was automatically charging for cosmetic issues not related with the reasons for the support ticket.
Strange not to reference Gamers Nexus after what happened to their ROG Ally.

It would be nice if products were supported ... but if its a loss leader (sold below cost) its not realistic to expect a company to fix them too ... Especially if they out source the repair to an outside firm. It would be even better if things were user serviceable
Motherboards and asus ally are definitely not loss leaders lol. Also most countries actually require you to support your products for some period of time, regardless of if it's a "loss leader".

The need to fire whoever it is that turned their warranty service into a for-profit business. Probably their CEO.
me buying stuff in quebec and have 5 years warranty on everything cause its the law loll
Not even remotely the issue they're talking about. Asus want denying warranty repair, they were trying to claim other additional services and the wording was carefully crafted to induce customers to feel like they needed to pay. In the end the warranty still existed, with some very dubious practices around it.

There is case where you want intel.it is scenario where you use laptop as daw for making music with external USB audio interface. Interface manufacturers are writing drivers for Intel in first place because so many years apple machines used Intel CPUs and that and Intel based PC s were majority of customers for sound interfaces devices..
It is not recommended to use AMD machine for making music with external sound interfaces.
Asrock warranty is pretty much non-existent specially in SEA region
Pegatron owns both ASUS and Asrock so same company my dude
Same for msi in Europe. Or at least a few years ago it was near impossible to find contact details from their website.
ASUS I just discovered, has more incompetence. I got an ASUS PN53 mini PC. It was to upgrade an old Intel NUC. Now I'm sorry I went to ASUS and not a chineese cheap unit. I need it to operate in a headless mode where I just remote desktop into it. The box doesn't operate without a monitor. If I use a dummy monitor plug, I can not restart the machine remotely after a software update as it only starts with the dummy monitor from cold start. This lack of headless option or a BIOS option to enable it is a big issue for me.
Asus makes the best products, just bad qc. Then again they sell so much it may be the same as any other brand and we just see more cases due to sheer quantity.
The worst part of all of this is that I have been purchasing EVGA for 9800 GT and have recommended them. I have had a flawless experience, but most importantly, with their RMA process. And they're gone. It feels bad, bros.
I gave Asus a second chance, then my Vega 64 cooler fell off the card.
You "hope" for change but ASUS was called out, last year. They made their promise to change, last year, they had a year to change their warranty and returns, and just didn't. This is not new, and ASUS has only themselves to blame, but have only offered up a "I'm sorry YOU'RE confused" and so far, are following the same rails as they did...last year.

Not an issue for someone to use AI to assist in their job, I do it as a developer all the time, but in a PR statement, people won’t typically respond well if they find out they were given a corporate non-apology by a machine. Not a great look, imo.

I think alot of the people who bring up GM are salty at linus and think like its just because he's being immature, idk if its really like that honestly, me personally i really enjoy them both and, well they both do some really respectable stuff even though i don't agree with everything exactly. Like i said though i genuinely like them both, so i'm not sure if like an address of GM exists somewhere but i'd really like to see a collab personally. Maybe like a mousepad/merch showdown where they test the durability of fabrics, or like a pc diagnosing challenge between steve and linus i think that'd be fun.
I'm really not sure if linus has grievance or not but forgetting the audience of peanut gallery, its always worth working things out in this life. Anyways all this is enough of trying to input on linuses life lol (oof)

Asus does indeed need to be boycotted as their actions are unacceptable
I will be moving on to Asrock which offers excellent RMA service and reabile products.
Screw ASUS and gigabyte are their products.
for me personally it's HP that has earned the title of being permanently banned from my tech space.
reason is that now ancient case of nVidia defect, and how it took 4 months of battle to get from 500€ from me and 500€ from nVidia to fix that 799€ hp pavilion dv6732eo laptop.
to the legally required 0€ from me and probably 500€ from nVidia.
sure i ultimately got it fixed for free, but it took way too long and similar to this ASUS case HP was systematically across the globe denying the free repairs for that known factory defect.
though here it is not one specific issue, but more about culture issue, where as on HP it was straight up scam where they tried to milk both the end user and nVidia for the same issue.
and no matter how different they might be today, i'm not touching any of their rubbish ever again.
Leave it to Gamers Nexus to call them out. LTT would never and didnt bother mentioning the source of this. "Trust me bro"

Asus: Sorry…..we got fought stealing
Asus needs a massive reboot
It's kind of sad you just take news from an obvious source and try to skate around saying who it is
It was also pretty sad when GN violated basic journalistic ethics by not taking a comment and also lied about Linus but here we are. Cannot blame Linus for being a little bitter considering that.
@Junebug89 if they have no integrity, why is LTT using them as an obvious source for this segment
Sorry, this comes across as deflection for Asus,I had the same experience as described, item exchange for one I did not purchase or want and I am exhausted by this obvious deflection for a sponsor, shame on you
Gee I hope this doesn't impact sales of new ASUS laptops
sounds like a DEI hiring quota
...what are you on about?
the current ASUS fiasco correlates greatly with GN's ally issue. LTT should've mentioned it also, despite whatever that has happened, because it's relevant. the moment LTT decide to talk about the current ASUS problem, it immediately becomes the elephant in the room. carefully NOT discussing it is pathetic. you could have just mentioned it as a case and that's it. now it looks jarring. awful decision.
GN is like Voldemort for Linus. He's terrified of even mentioning their name. 😂😂😂😂
To be fair, if I had an intel laptop by choice I wouldn't accept an AMD one for replacement either, even if it was technically an upgrade.
so not even gonna mention that GN was the guys that made Asus put out a statement
Man, brand loyalty is so stupid. Just like "console wars", all it means is you become an unpaid intern shill who does the job of the company's marketing departement. Anyone voluntarily being loyal with or a "fan of" a brand just plays into the marketing ploy. Like the console wars; who the f cares about sony vs microsoft vs playstation? I mean get what you like, but pretty much any time you're defending a corporation online you've been duped. These are large, impersonal corporations that will absolutely f you over to make a buck. You are nothing but a walking wallet to them.
Bruh why are people acting like if GN must be mentioned in everything relevant? They are not the maximum authority in "criticisms" in tech. Obviously this has happened to a lot of normal people too, that's why it's relevant news. If Linus barely has influence in this space, GN is nothing. These people must be just hate watching.
it's about noticing a pattern of behaviour. linus would've absolutely mentioned GN in this video if GN hadn't called them out, but now on this topic which GN just recently covered and is the reason everyone is talking about ASUS, (and if you're covering the topic is natural to include GN), it seem like ltt has gone out of their way to avoid it. They don't have to be mentioned but if you're fair and perceptive, you'll notice it's intentional and the motive behind said omission makes ltt just look sad and rediculous
@@HajheerForoutan While that may be true, saying or not saying the name changes nothing. It's just people stirring up for entertainment.
What is more pathetic to me is how GN reacted and started the drama, but that is irrelevant now. If you must now, GN has been mentioned in TechLinked videos.
It is utterly unproductive to switch the conversation in these comments from the company that made a mistake to youtuber drama.
@@Jj82op I agree that what Asus is doing matters, but I disagree that this is UA-camr drama, these channels are entities that can have massive impact on companies like Asus behavior by what they say and do. And because of that what they themselves do also matters. GN cut ties with Asus but ltt never did and still sponsors them despite this video. Also what they criticize Asus for is what they were criticized for so it's hypocritical to post this video and be salty about your criticizer and it's only ironic on top of it that the criticizer is the same
@1betterthanyou1 You know what else is standard journalistic practices? When you are doing a story on someone or a group, you reach out to them for comment. Something GN neglected to do with Linus both times they did stories on LTT. In fact when Linus asked after the first time if they could reach out for a comment next time (again, basic journalistic practice), GN response was to dishonestly edit the clip of LTT saying that and then claim that he was asking for special treatment or to have GN go easy on them. While you might call it petty, they are just paying back in kind...
So we are not mentioning GN, lmao how he really did hurt LTT's little feelings huh, how childish.
No mention of the guy who is the source of this entire thing lol
Did we also think it was childish when GN lied about Linus in that initial video? Just curious.
Let's say you have one guy who is nice and respectful, but doesn't mention this other guy's name because they had a falling out.
Now you have another guy who doesn't know either of them, but gouse up goes to that guy "What's the matter. Did he hurt your feelings?" and laughs in his face.
Which of the two comes off as childish?
Linus ur wrong, im loyal to intel and bmw, i dont want my stuff replaced with amd and fucking audi. I want shit i bought, because i like it.
Nah dawg, it's enough. We forgive a lot, of companies, writers, dealerships, streamers, and screwdrivers. ASUS, ya kewl.
When LTT apologises... all good
When another company does.... OUTRAGE!
Maybe you missed this but GN actually called out Asus on their customer service like a year ago and then were cautiously optimistic when they promised changes. So actually no, the outrage is because its been a year and things have just gotten worse.
@@Junebug89 whoosh... we're talking about LTT muppet.
Because LTT actually fixed the problem. They made amends. Even Steven acknowledges that.
The whole point with ASUS was that they didn't given an actual apology. They tried to blame the customer for being confused.
And, well, you'd know this if you watched any of the videos on this. So why are you acting like this?
Linus dodging mentioning Gamer Nexus like it’s a slur, bro, just take the criticism and move on
Almost everything said here is what was said in a different way but similar meaning to LTT months ago, with their big blow up...
I take it GN and y’all are still being petty.
the fact that they dont mention gamers nexus's coverage of this issue is so embarrassingly childish. lol
No mention of Gamers Nexus?
Still butthurt Linus?
I love how you don't even have the balls to mention gn or how the story originated
He who shall not be named!
Gamers Nexus 🤣
ASUS' main focus is Asia. Not North America. ROG might be different but as a whole? They are centered for Asian markets. Prioritized. I would speculate the amount of resources revolves around Asian markets and not North America. Not sure they have spent enough time or concern about the NA market to learn what's important or to learn what the issues are for consumers. From the top. People within ASUS care and I'm sure are passionate about the brand, but mandates and resources come from the head offices which are located where?
