I read the manga a long time ago. I remember it felt like you were seeing the protagonist (Revy) but from another character's point of view (Rock). It was very diffirent from what I felt when I watched the anime

Black Lagoon is just so unapologetically cool. Not EVERY seinen series has to be philosphical or about existentialism or cosmic horror. Sometimes they just be smoking, shooting and driving boats off convenient ramps to shoot helicopter pilots in the face with a torpedo. Chef's kiss of a series.

Black Lagoon is philosophical to the BONE. And it does it INCREDIBLY well! THAT is the important part! Probably also why you didn't notice it was philosophical. It stretches a philosophical lesson over an entire story arc.

Tbh, Black Lagoon is rather a good mix of humour, action madness, darkish drama, phylosophical reflection and a stylish characters. A well brewed mix which works perfectly.

The Manga is still ongoing (similar hiatus problems as HunterxHunter and berserk) We got a new chapter just recently. Also a year or so ago the director of the anime said that he wants to continue it when enough material is released to warrant a new season or OVA (most likely an ova).
This and Cowboy Bebop are the best anime to just sit back and have a drink while you watch. If an anime gets you in that kind of mood, you know its gonna be good.
The best thing about these 2 shows is that they both contain a very realistic world and characters. Anime with that perspective always stand out and even though black lagoon is not as popular as Bebop it is still memorable
And plus both of those animes are badass
@@kwylde1978 Bruh, Bebop is set in the future (Around the 2070's) and it doesn't feel too outlandish, at no point in time does it feel like they're stretching it too far and it seems like it could actually happen in the future (Probably won't though)
@@Luffy-su1ho Apart from the Sci - fi element, I strongly believe that every other aspect in this show is very well done. The interactions between the characters, their struggle with their past, their perspective about life, the music tone ect produce a very realistic world. The fact that it is set in space may seem a bit far-fetched in the 2020s but who knows what may happen in 50 or 100 years

Along with Danganronpa’s Never Say Never and Dragon Ball Z’s Rock A Dragon similarly getting you amped up for murder or Goku kicking ass

And the dude himself was barely in that arc lol. That being said, I'm kind of glad we just focus on Rock & Revy's story. I'd have gotten bored a long time ago if they tried shoving Benny & Dutch down our throats. As much as I like them, all I actually care about is how Rock & Revy develop as characters.

I always loved how the animators portrayed the firearms. They did them realistically but still went all action-like with 'em when it looked cool. Don't usually see many anime do so well with their portrayal of firearms.
Black Lagoon has always been one of my top watches of anime. Actually Black Lagoon was one of my FIRST anime ive ever watched, thats when I got hooked into anime and FUNimation at the time. 5-Star for Revy's 9mm Sword Cutlass pistols!.

I watch anime since 14 years and just finished this one. Before many years I watched the first episode and didn't like it, but now I wanted to see sth differend and yes there is no anime like this, at least I heavn't seen one. (Well it's not sth for a 15 year old girl)
I just don't like how revi akted at the end of the series.

She always wan'ts him to stop to be the good guy, but when he becomes like a badass mafia boss she starts to dislike him? I just would have liked to see him more beeing like that it was quite cool. What's also quite bad is that Roberta turns out a complete cripple she should have been allowed to keep her left arm.
Anime like Black Lagoon, Darker Than Black, Fullmetal Alchemist. Those Mid-2000’s shows that have dark themes are just too good. Very rarely do we get anime worth watching nowadays, the only one I’ve been keeping up with is Attack on Titan.
There will be no one like Revy or her gang...

There is only an unfinished arc. Source-I read it. and maybe a few short chapters. But as far as adaptions go Black Lagoon is almost fully adapted. There is definitely not plenty more

Probably won't. Madhouse makes grrat anime, but they finish them. The only time I think they ever did was Hunter x Hunter, but that's still not finished, and it wasn't their fault...

However, I will argue that the Roberta's Blood Trail OVAs were still made 4 years after the second season. Then again, we are now 5 years from RBT and this new arc doesn't even seem close to being done.

Honestly the only reason the anime hasn't come back is because the next three Arcs after Roberta's blood trail are more light hearted and comedy centric. We'll probably get the anime back when there's at least one gut wrenching arc.

I personally feel that in the end Rock i. the end became even more insane than all the other people from Roanapoor. Like... sure, he wants to save people, but he does that because it's his hobby, not because it's the right thing to do, and the things that he is willing to do for it... they don't look like a normal person would do that.

The way Revy stuck out her tongue is just adorable.
Theory: the white feathers in the opening may symbolise Rock's light in Roanapur, that he brings a new wind. The empty shell that is taken away shows that no matter the light, he can only lift the pain after the bullet has already been shot, and the few feathers that appear above Revy show the rising influence that he has over her. But in the end, the sunset shows that eventually the city is engulfed in darkness, as naturally as the sun sets.

Wish there’s was more “romance” between rock and revy. But revy has lived her life removing herself from her feelings so it’s pretty hard for her. And rocks density is like his name.
Well there's that and the fact that as the series goes on, Rock and Revy kind of trade places character wise. As Revy becomes just a bit more soft and 'normal' from being around Rock, so too does Rock become more callous and detached from being around Revy.
They do, just mature. I guess that is just not their style, bug its nice its just organic

The dub is so good, it's probably one of the few shows where the dub is better than sub, but that's just an opinion, someone's going to disagree and that's cool, we all love anime and Revy
GrandpaTofu Ocean Studios usually has top notch dubs, nothing beats their dub of Black Lagoon or Death Note, which are both neck-and-neck with Cowboy Bebop.
They simply ran out of material. Luckily, the original writer stated last year that he will be returning to the project to continue the series... That is, if his hentai projects don't become more lucrative. That's not a joke btw, that's really his other regular gig.
The Mangaka just simply didn’t make enough material for a 4th season...yet. When Volume 12 comes out in 10-15 years, maybe then a new anime will be released.
Good news! Last June, the manga was confirmed to be getting continued by the creator! So give it a couple years, and I wager we'll get ourselves more seasons of this masterpiece anime!
Just finished to watch this anime.....yeah yeah I know am soooooooo late, didnt know this anime existed until it was recommended by my friend and its AWESOME, it's so different from most animes and so unique, plus the writing of the characters and story is next level, 10/10 no doubt
