Considering the normal pilot for that mobile suit, it probably should have been posed using the gun as a club to beat someone with it because that's just how Chuchu fights
Chuchu best girl, punches other girls, doesn't afraid, her hair fitting in her helmet defies logic and reason.
Most of us say: "GUNPLA IS FREEDOM", and this video is another proof. I feel kind of proud to see Warhammer enthusiasts using gunpla for their absolutely awesome hobby. It's interesting to see new ways of posing/painting/using model kits from the gundam universes.
I’m glad you feel so 90% of Gunpla enthusiasts have been happy with me but there’s been a very loud 10% 😂
12:03 in the show, this mobile suit's pilot has a really funny scene where she just knocks someone out, so yeah probably did punch something really hard
Not to mention the pilot was more than willing to use the rifle like a club when it ran out of ammo/energy
Gundam -> a specialized mobile suit from the "Mobile Suit Gundam " series
all "Gundam" are Mobile Suits not all Mobile Suits are a Gundam
Gunpla -> a portmanteau made from the words Gundam & Plamo (plastic modeling)
it refers to the general hobby of building Gunpla kits or other Plamo kits.
great work btw! 👍
And gundam is a portmanteau of gun and dam. And plamo is a portmanteau of plastic model. Tomino is on some Shakespeare shit.😅
mashing three different words together like that is how we get different languages lmao
@@burnin8able if you think portmanteaus of portmanteaus are bad you oughta see dutch compoundwords. and that's coming from someone who natively speaks the damn language 😂
I live in Japan, when I asked my friend they said gunpla generally refers to the kits/hobby, Gundam is the name of the IP (anime, manga etc) Loving these videos. I've long thought gunpla kits would make great Tau proxies, and you have proved this right.
Also the word "Gunpla" is a mix of the two words, Gundam and Plamo. Plamo is short for plastic model kit and Gundam is another of mix words being gun and freedom.
"GunPla" is just a short form of "Gundam Plastic" model.
"PlaMo" is plastic model which is the general term for the kits including non-gundam stuff.
Soooo TLDR; it's the gundam way of referring the Warhammer the setting vs, war game minis
Basically
All what they said.
Gundam is the company
Gunpla is a mix of the word Gundam and Plamo
Plamo is a mix of Plastic and modle
Gundam is an anime
Bandai would be the company in charge of Gunpla production
Gundam is the franchise
Bandai is the company.
Definitely recommened getting a Zaku II kit if you're planning on making something for the Imperium.
They could even fall to chaos!
@@zeroxexe111 Nah, probably not quite as thematically consistent when it comes to Zeon. Pilots were always dedicated to the cause, even when their death was immediately approaching in a war they were losing, because they were fighting for the liberation of spacenoids. You just wouldn't get something like that out of Chaos, which would contradict the dedication of Zeon's soldiers, in spite of how their highest leaders ended up having rotten ideals.
Great work as usual man, and you're not being annoying by asking questions, that's the only way anyone learns about anything. Gundam is the brand and the name of the actual mechs, Gunpla is the nickname given to the model kits and is short for Gundam plastic kit.
Thank you mate, good to know :)
Another base that could be used for a "Human Riptide" could be the 30 minutes mission line, still from Bandai, which are made to be even more modular, and are a bit cheaper than HGs
Some 30 minute mission parts already have a Tau vibe, so it should be an easy conversion
If you plan on doing any more gunpla conversions, I have a tip:
About that front skirting armour, which moves together, you can cut it down the middle before attaching it (It almost always attaches the same way, regardless of the model) and that way you can move one flap up and keep one hanging down.
That’s a really good tip
You should look into making another Riptide, but with a Zaku model of Gunpla! They all have that drone head shape, I reckon it'd work great with maybe some light kitbash for the shoulder!
Fun fact, not confirmed but I believe that mostly "Little drone helpers" come from the Gundam, being called either Bits for more self-sufficient machines or Funnels as less autonomous variants. In any case, original Fin Funnels required Mobile Suit to have a device known as Psycomm system (or its more advanced variant - Psychoframe) to be installed in it - such as RX-93 Nu Gundam or MSN-04 Sazabi or in more frightening variant - RX-0 Unicorn Gundam. In all cases though, Funnels would be remote weapons controlled by pilots mind via Psycomm system that allows Newtypes and people with psychic powers (Yes, effectively Psykers) to control these weapons. In other universes bits or funnels or DRAGOON system or any other variants remain, but with many changes, for example in Iron Blooded Orphans Mobile Armor (Sentiend autonomous machine) used bit-like drones known as Pluma for combat assistance, while in Gundam Seed Destiny ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom Gundam had units known as Super DRAGOON Weapon Wing - those would be weapon pods that will just join to "TRY TO ESCAPE MY VOLLEY OF BEAM FRIENDSHIP" attack that Kira Yamato would unleash on anyone who doesn't want to give up to him.
Your Gue’vesa stories are great! You should do a full on story of it!
If you want something like a stormsurge, I recommend building my favourite. The Doven Wolf, it has a rifle that attaches to its abdomen to make a cannon, the abdomen itself has two cannons, it has large quantities of missiles. Two karge antiship missile abd two sets of micro missiles, the lower arm can detach and be wire guided guns and two more wire guided weapons mounted on the back.
That is an absolutely great choice for a stormsurge.
I love this dive into Gundams. He looks awesome 😊😊😊
Thank you 🙂
@@LizardofDoom you are welcome 🤗
Love the build and it came out awesome. Though watching someone paint a gundam kit while its still assembled is kinda wild. They make the model kits easy to disassemble and reassemble so that the painting process would be easier
Aye but to do the lighting I’d have to judge for each panel where it was coming from. I’ve painted it as a 40K model really rather than a gundam.
@@LizardofDoomthat's nuts that the painting styles differ so much. Light sources usually aren't accounted for while painting gunpla. Shadows are usually lightly pre-baked around the joints and bottom edges of each armor panel. Sometimes we don't even do the shadows at all
It is such a weird deviation from the norm. But there are some handpainters who paint the same way. Usually going for that extra grimy weathered look or having a bit of highlights means you need them assembled.
I'm learning painting skills and a bunch about gundam building at the same time, I love this haha. I hope you keep doing more! Gundam Tau Army!
One more gundam at the end but the next time I touch on these I’ll be making the human troops 🙂
Fantastic video, the custom turned out great! I think a 30 minute missions kit would be right up your alley, since I havent seen anyone suggesting them. They're great kits, and really heavily customizable.
Keep these videos coming mate, I’d love to see a heap of these guys!
Army lists in the description, i've got some human troops to work on and finish off with one more of these :)
Re: the right hand - Chuchu would ABSOLUTELY punch something that hard, so it's all good
The "non-custom" Demi Trainer is simpler and has a separate option parts set perfect for army building.
Google indicates . So "Gundam" is the show, while "Gunpla" is the model? I guess?
'tis this
Aye
thank you for researching for me 😂
Also not every gunpla is a gundam
You can add a lot of detail to HG kits via scribing. It takes some practice to do cleanly, but those flat areas can pick up nice panel texture.
Shoulda said- looks awesome by the way!
Honestly surprised UA-cam just recommend this and the other video to me now, considering my investment into both franchises lol.
As someone who dabbles in all sorts of Model kit from historical vehicles, sci-fi one offs and dabble on WH40k/F from time to time, HG Gunplas are my favorite to work on in this hobby. These are due to how relatively cheap they are, the supply/frequency for reprints and being the grade that contains the most amount of different model kits. HGs are incredibly EASY to kitbash due to them being at 1/144 scale and in recent years started modularizing the peg sizes to be compatible with each other.
As mentioned in the video, the HG does not have as much details as the RG but for me, that's prime real-state to plaster some extra details like creating new panels either from placing plastic plates or scribing/digging panels on the kit. Even drill holes or add pegs for additional joints/customization. Customization is such a big part of gunpla that a spin-off anime made specifically for kids where they use other Gundams from other series' that they customized themselves to battle each other out.
Glad you got your hands on a modern HG and its Chu Chu's Demi Trainer too lol. Been deciding on how i'll do mine in my backlog but this video gave me an idea to make it in Farsight's colors and stick a clear plastic bayonet at the end.
Considering the lore of the Demi-Trainer's pilot, Chu Chu, it would be fitting regarding the proficiency on how she "properly" handles the big metal chunk of a laser rifle that would make even Farsight be impressed. Anyways, fantastic work!
Wow. Your creativity really shines through in these videos! You're a talented hobbyist, and these models look awesome. I especially enjoy Lizard Lore, and I look forward to you pulling all of the little threads you've left in these videos together to create a whole story someday. Maybe bring these T'au boys into conflict with the Imperial stuff you did a few videos back.
The imperial stuff ties in with the chaos knight stuff and I think in the first one of the tau lore I said that referred to their neighbours on Diskar that didn’t hold out as well as them when the empire left, which is the chaos knight planet. 🙂
And thank mate you’re too kind!
Very interesting painting technique. “Most” Gunpla customization people will air brush each PIECE individually. VERY rarely will you see people paint a kit while fully assembled.
Another great model! If you want another unit with Tau-like heads, check out one called Graze. It's from the Iron Blooded Orphans line and has a few different variants that have different weapons and armor plating
Gundam is the name of the show/robot gunpla is the name of the actual hobby. Putting together a gundam model makes you a gunplaer, Or a person that's interested in making gun to models.
Always interesting when these vids pop up. Coming from the gundam side it’s fun to see more people enjoy the kits. Definitely would recommend the show it’s very good and has a very well done dub too. Also can recommend if you want a more mini scale to just paint up the gundam artifact line. They are just a smidge larger than warhammers and probably pack almost as much detail as the rg line into them. Great job in the Demi. Hope you do another gunpla kit in the future.
Interesting I will have a look in to them thank you!
Witch from Mercury was great, and Chuchu stole every scene she was in.
Gunpla is an abbreviation of "GUNdam PLAstic models"
Gunpla is the hobby as a whole.
Gundams depending on continuity can change in definitions. But the general consensus is that they are advanced mobile suits often with special abilities. All Gundams are mobile suits but not all mobile suits are Gundams
Gunpla refers to the modeling hobby for the Gundam media franchise. Gundams are also a specific series of mobile suits within the franchise.
The RX-78-2 Mobile Suit is a Gundam
The 1/144 scale plastic model of the RX-78-2 is gunpla.
A very Tau-esque mobile suit kit that I would suggest is the Asshimar. A moble suit that transforms into what the community lovingly calls “The Flying Donut”. It looks very much so like a Tau Drone sized up to Riptide size
I shall have a look 🙂
lot of the Zeta and ZZ Titans suits would work great for Tau. hell you could use Psyco Gundam as Tau Dreadnought
Can’t have a boogaloo without Hawaiian shirts and remember kids taxation is theft 😂
Enjoyed it - You have my support!!
You should write a short story about Your Guys getting contacted+allied by Rowboat Girlyman and an Inquisitor/Techpriest having an aneruysm over "muh heresy".
you should check out some of the 30 minute missions lines from bandai. they are made with customization in mind and about as easy to make as a HG. lots of options for bodies, heads, hands, and especially weapons. very cheap in cost as well, some of the newer gundam HG kits are somewhat compatible too.
What speed me up is for a large block of rules I will cut out all of the parts at the same tine and place them on that step of the instruction. It speeds me up so much. I started doing that with my table top minature build. For smaller minis, I just place all the cutout bits into a tiny back.
Check out 30 minute missions model kits as well. High grade style build, but very customizable and interchangeable with gunpla parts and accessories. Not to mention the option parts sets for them.
Never played Warhammer but damn that's really cool.
More Tau-friendly Gunpla kits if you can find them (these ones are a bit rare now): the Grimoire Red Beret also has a drone-like head and even comes with two extra drones(!); the Gusion Rebake is practically in T'au Sept colours out of the box and its head design is extremely Tau; its variant the Full City also has two extra arms for holding auxiliary fusion blasters or plasma rifles.
love how the Lizard Lore suddenly adds that dark part about the T'au Greater Good... the brainwashing
Love your work on these things! Love your basing techniques as well
Thank you mate 😊
Gunpla is a portmanteau of "Gun"dam "Pla"stic Model Kit with the funny coincidence that most are made of PLA. Gundam is the franchise. Hope this helps!
I'm loving these, fantastic content as always Max!
Thank you 🤘
So "Gundam" will generally refer to the series or the specific mobile suits of the Gundam category(not all suits are Gundam). Gunpla is short for Gundam plastic model, referring to any model kit based on the Gundam series, so even non-gundam mobile suits from the series would be Gunpla when referring to the model kit.
"Maybe he's punched something really hard?"
Yeah, sounds like Chuchu.
Amazing work again, I love this series!
Thank you mate 🙂
Gunpla is short for Gundam plastic model while Gundam is the name of the protagonist mobile suits from the shows sometimes the antagonists have Gundams. Gundams are normally prototypes or experimental mobile suits that are not mass produced.
Yeah, this is another freaking sick gunpla model. Absolutely love it.
30 minutes missions model Kits would make awesome material for tau conversion
Outro music is banging
You should really look into 30 Minute Missions. It's a mecha line where most parts are the interchangeable between kits. It's basically made for kitbashing.
I will look in to it 🙂
Gunpla just refers to Gundam Plastic models.
Gundam is the name of the franchise, and the name of the series many famous robots, but not all mechs are Gundams.
The overall term is Mobile Suit/MS, the Gundams being a type of mobile suit with some kind of important meaning that changes from season to season.
Gundam is the series or the main mech
Meanwhile gun pla is the shortend term of gundam platic model kits
I know I’m a tad late but if you’re looking to continue using HG kits but want more detail I would def recommend looking into scribing your kits to add custom panel lining it just adds a bit more detail for the lower quality kits and makes them pop
Dude that might be the sickest model you've shown of yet and the only Gundam I've ever liked was the Zaku!!!
Gunpla are Model kits of the mobile suits of the Gundam Franchise. Gundam is a mobile suit of the franchise however there are different mobile suits from different series such as the Zaku which is a Monoeyed Mech and perfect for Tau than the Gundam ones however the zaku ain't the only monoeyed one. you can try buying two different kits and combine them when you make another one of this gunpla Tau Warhammer kitbash.
now this is it lad this is what i like to see
I think the demi line of mobile suits fits the concept you're going for better than the actual Gundams. Maybe look into the demi barding next?
Gundam is the franchise. it is basically anything to do with the multiple universes we call the Universal Century as well as the AU Alternative/Another Universe(basically any series not set in the UC timeline).
Gundam also is the name of the main machines, usually high tech prototypes, or (in the case of Turn A and Iron Blooded Orphans) Old machines with specific traits.
GunPla. is Gundam Plastic models. in japan they like to truncate alot of words, and Gunpla is basically that. its the name given for their garage kits.
also, i would feel like a fake if i didnt repeat the rule of gunpla, Gunpla is FREEDOM(not to be confused with the Freedom Gundam) which is basically their saying do it however you like, and play around, dont get stuck on "correct" want a not-self-destructing pink zudah? go for it, want a black aegis? sure! want to turn your gundam into a literal SAILOR MOON? yes, people have done that, even though there's literaly a gundam that is also a sailor moon gundam.
Came here from your other video when I said u should have used an hg model. Very nice choice!!
Let him cook 😂
Probably one of the most undersubscibed channels I watch right now, great to see it picking up though. Fully deserved!
Aye we’re slowly growing, it’s a grind but I won’t give up 🙂
Like button tickled, awesome work as always. Justice for Kenny! 😂
Kenny’s fine now, everything’s fine, there was never an issue 👀
@@LizardofDoom Where'd that big scar on the side of his head come from and why does it look like his eyes had a falling out? Is he wearing a bib?!
Brilliant, I loved this video.
Gundam is just the franchise as well as the iconic mobile suits.
And gunpla It's just a play on the name for gundam and plastic model kits.
Wont lie mate, hadn't found this channel before you posted the gunpla videos but I love seeing the gunpla to warhammer conversions. They come out great and the creativity is always fun to watch. Would love to see more if you felt like doing more(or even converting anything over to being warhammer models, doesn't have to be gunpla)
Also I'm not into gunpla myself(yet, although all these kinds of videos are definitely getting me there) but I think it's a shortened version if Gundam Plastic Kits. (GUNdam PLAstic)
The last one had a charged-particle beam rifle, not a machinegun.
We’ll now he’s a Tau riptide it’s a burst cannon. 🙂
could probably get away with building a Master Grade for a Taunar its a bigger scale than the High Grade and Real Grade but would probably work pretty nicely
I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t been looking at them
what you get for your money with Gunpla proves just how badly ripped off we are in miniature wargaming. Gundam is the name of the shows/mechs, Gunpla is short for "Gundam Plastic Model" you also may hear "Plamo" short for "Plastic Model Kit" for non Gundam related kits.
Gudnam is the IP - shows, manga, games etc as well as the name of a particular type of mech in the show.
Gunpla is just the term for the hobby and the kits - Gundam-Plastic, or Gunpla for short!
Good to know :)
Dude you should look at the Grimoire Red Beret, it'd be a good riptide gunpla. Its a HG, it does have a dome head and comes with drones too.
I saw the red beret a couple of days ago and thought it would be good 🙂
Great video, just one recommendation: add more spikes and blood! ;)
For real though, those two look epic together, they seem ready to blast some holes in anything!
The spikes will be coming back with the chaos knights when I’m finished with a couple of tau months 😂
I do love those poses on these guys I can imagine this new one is about to cut a line through the side of a tank with that big gun.
When you said "a Tau doesn't really punch things" around the 12 minute mark to explain your over weathering. I think you forgot that these units are human using Tau Technology, so it makes sense that they would still be using a mix between the tactics that they have known for generations with new Tau Technology. They probably are a bit more rough on everything they use because they don't entirely think like the Tau. Great model though!
That’s a great point a human in control of a big metal fist is going to punch things with it 😂
Modern real grades are a lot better than the one you built that one was an early one and needlessly complicated the newer ones find a nice balance.
gundam is the titular mobile suit(robot) in the show, gunpla is just short for gundam plastic model kits. that's about it.
Gunpla usually means every model in the gundam line of toys, even the models that aren't classified as gundam in lore.
So every model kit is gunpla, but not every mobile suit is a gundam. Usually it'll just say in the box if it's a gundam.
Also im' around 90% sure the only reason you can say You prefer RG better than HG is cause your first experience is with the RX-178. A lot of real grades tend to be hand grenadey and not as pleasant to bash cause of how the original inner frame progressively gets less able to carry the different designs. Newer more recent RGs have either a better inner frame though which is great, just wish they'd make 2.0 kits of the older stuff. HGs are simple and depending on how old they are, very fun to build. Better for army building. Especially the since the demi trainer you made is a pilot specific variant of the demi series of MS that's meant to be mass produce.
Holy crap......I drop Electric Boogaloo after anything I say that is Part Two too. Weird. Means we both unfortunately saw Breakin 2 at one point.......and it stuck.
This is the second Electric Boogaloo video on the channel, i just cant help myself when i'm doing a sequel to something 😂
Fair play Max looking awesome 👌 dude
Thank you mate! 🤘
This Mobile Suit (model) is a way better proxy than the Gundam MK-2 like you did last time.
Awesome
Love it toooo
Clear forks from the dollar store for flight stands. -wink- You're welcome.
Have you looked at any of the 30 minute mission kits? The 30MM BEXM-28 REVERNOVA would be a good fit for T'au
I have been looking at the 30 minute mission kits… but not for tau, I’ll have another gundam to warhammer project after this 🙂
I happen to have a spare chu chu's demi sitting around that I bought for a kitbash that didn't work out... Kinda thinking I want to do a tau list with a couple riptide gunpla and a kitbash comibing tau and guard combat patrol models
After Orktober is done I’ll be making my tau humans with some necromunda models 🙂
@@LizardofDoom aye, just saw a video on doing that with the van saar gang. I'll probably wait till after your video to do anything though since this won't be a project I start right away
"HG 1/144 MS06S ZAKU II" mobile suit would look great as a part of your new chapter
I feel alot of the zeon suits would suit his project.
very true cant wait to see the next one@@cardboardmuncher6261
Dude you gotta do a big ork zaku
Great vid! I want you to build a master grade gunpla 😅 I recommend the “Zaku” or the “Barbatos”🔥
i've been looking at the bigger more intense kits to be the bigger T'au battle suits and i think i'll probably be doing it next Sept'ember
"Gunpla" is shorthand for "Gundam Plamo", and "Plamo" is short for "Plastic Models"- so Gunpla ultimately means Gundam Plastic Models, and Warhammer minis would (mostly) be Warhammer Plamo! Gundam is more all encompassing, including anime, manga, non-model kit figures, etc...
maybe you should convert gundam unicorn as it has 1 antenna like the tau have
Maybe one of the Mobile Suit that transforms, but it's a tau fighter ship?
The team is really coming together 🎉 what an great idea!
This Kit is a lot newer compared to the RG Mk2 , hence the English in the instructions.
How soon will you be able to create Gunpla Farsight?
Gundam is Gundam.
Gunpla is Gundam Plamo
Plamo is Plastic Model
Gundam is the franchise (and also specific mobile suits), GunPla is short for Gundam Plastic Model.
Also do recommend Witch from Mercury, it's basically The Tempest but with giant robots and lesbians!
Not much could improve upon Shakespeare but that sounds like they've figured it out 😂
Gunpla is just short for Gundam Plamo. Plamo is short for Plastic Model
Try painting on the runners.
Gundam is the franchise and Gunpla is short for Gundam Plamo (plamo is further short for Plastic Model)
Love these tauesque conversions the strange Irish accent in the lizard lore not so much 😂😂
its a bad irish accent for sure but a great Amican accent😂
@@LizardofDoom can't argue with that😂 👍
7:18 i quite like the pose, but i think it would look better reversed, almost as if its aiming at a flying target instead. that gun is too big to be pointing down IMO.
I pictured it more as he's scanning for his next target before shooting another burst :)
