- Crochet Gadget Reviews are some of my favorite videos to make. I ran across this cool device while scrolling through UA-cam.
The Prym Big Sully is a large, multi-functional clear globe that provides a protective home for your yarn and accessories. It will hold most regular size skeins, yarn cakes, yarn balls, and cones. Multiple yarn channels, ball tray, and yarn spindle make this a brilliant accessory for all your fiber art crafts. The integrated needle gauge and swatch ruler help you start your projects with the right tools and stitch size. Non-slip base removes to store all of your yarn accessories.

This would be great for those long car rides! I don't know about everyone else, but if I'm in the car for over an hour, I have a project in my hands. The yarn is always sliding around on the dashboard and who wants to put yarn on the floor board by your feet? This would be great for that. Thank you so much for showing us this product!
I agree! I can't see myself using this at home, but it would be great for travel. More than once I've been crocheting or knitting in the car and tug (what I think is gently) on a yarn end in my craft tote bag and the ball or cake (especially once it is small) will pop out and roll on the floor by my feet. It bummed me out one time while on a trip home for Christmas. It had been snowing and the floor mat was slushy wet and filthy.
This absolutely is a plus for me too. I don't crochet on those long car rides because of these reasons
💯% agree!
Over the river and through the woods to grandma house I go and this would be perfect for the long road trips 💯🥰
Very true
Perfect for using balls of crochet cotton. I think I’ll suggest to kids this would make a nice Christmas gift, for me. 😊👍
It is nice when the kids are old enough to be your Santa❤️
Perfect for holding all the yarn for colorful Granny squares! I absolutely love your reviews. Thank you so much!
You are so welcome!
The images and little clips you add in for emphasis are absolutely flipping hysterical! My husband was sitting next to me when you discussed keeping your balls seperate and he darn near fell of the couch! 😂😂😂 I love your wit!
I didn't realize the ball humor until it was time for editing. I'm such a child, lol.
@@LittlejohnsYarn nah- I have a feeling we all giggled! I think we need some humor in our lives! I certainly appreciate it!
While I can't see myself using every part of it, I love it and want it!! Love that like you said, your yarn is not imprisoned.
I've had that happen. Get excited about a new yarn bag, then your work is stuck in it, lol.
Yes! I've considered making my own bag with a like a button system since most of the ones available have that problem.
Perfect for people in nursing homes! They have trouble holding all the things and this will stay in the table! Not only that but two people can work on two separate projects! So cool! Thanks for sharing! 💜
I think I'd DIY myself one with two plastic bowls and using my soldering iron to make the wholes for my yarn to go through. 😁
Great!! idea.
Great idea, but I think that the measurements might be off, or some things might now be as…sturdy. Still, good idea.
I have the big Sully and I love it. It is protects my yarn from dog hair and keeps ball from rolling all over the place.
I have the single ball "Yarn-it" for a couple of years and I love it. Yes the bottom holds notions/stitch markers. I paid $25.00 3 yrs ago and the Big Sully runs $49.99 @Walmart, $57.99 @Michael's, so 33.99 is a decent price. My yarn it fell off the coffee table and didn't break. It also keeps the yarn clean. I love it and Big Sully is on my Christmas list! Thanks Alysha!
Update!!! It's been purchased from my Amazon list and on the way, although overnight it went up $5 to $38.99. Can't wait!!
I couldn't see myself using this but you know I LOVE your gadget reviews!!! Thank you for sharing this with us ❤️
AMY, I miss you!!!!!!! You are so welcome!
@@LittlejohnsYarn I've been here 😉 I've just been on mute 😂 ❤️
I received the Big Sully for Christmas last year and I love love love It. It is so handy and keeps your yarn from tangling and twisting. It has quite a few helpful tools.
Do you take the yarn from the center of the ball? Most of the yarn in the UK comes in balls so I'd like to know this before I buy it thank you
I do both. I really use my Sully a lot. It’s worth the investment by all means. Hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
The cake making part at the beginning was exactly how it always plays out for me.
Scrolling through, went 😍🤯 I must have this....
But I confess, I knit.
This is the first video of yours I have seen, and I have to say, I really like your personality and presentation! Can’t wait to watch more! Thanks! ❤
I love your gadget reviews! Keep them coming, please!
😊💜☮️🧶
$9.99 is the best I can give it for the cost. Thanks for the thorough review!
Ooooo!! I've been looking for a yarn bowl! This would be great for me! And a LID! And everything!! Lol. I'm so happy I saw this on this snowy cold crochet day. You gave me a good laugh today. ❤
What a cute gadget! Great for a holiday gift! Thanks 😃
Excellent gadget review! I adored the "soccer feet" comment as that is an issue at my house. Thanks for checking it out for us.
I love your yarny gadget reviews.
Thanks for the review.
I found it for $28 on Amazon. I think I'll try it out. I like that I'm not stuck with yarn in the specific holes like other yarn carriers. That and the nonslip are big draws for me.
Fantastic review!! I would luv luv luv this for our next road trip/ vacation. Luv luv luv that it doesn't slide around and it's perfect for my C2C projects. Thank you, you're awesome 👌 👏 👍 😍 💖 ❤
LOL four four four drops that needle in the 6 hole LOL I love it I do stuff like that all the time.
Rewatched this last night, and placed an order for it with Christmas money! Been looking for the perfect yarn holder, and this looks like the one!
I freaking love mine! Got it last year and I normally center pull so the divider/spindle doesn’t really help me but I love that it can hold the super big mandala yarn cakes ❤ also it has survived a 3 year old tossing it multiple times so it’s definitely very sturdy
I love this thing! I take it everywhere lol.
IM OBSESSED
I've never crocheted but this was a great video.
I got one a couple years ago when they first came out. I love it. I put a red heart skein on with no problem. Stick the post through the center of the skein. I did have to push the ends in a bit when putting it into the holder. Once I had the lid closed it works fine.
I love that it might keep the dog hair off my yarn
I am a new user of the knitting machines *addi* and have been a crocheter for years. I love your videos. Ive learned so much. Thank you.
Oh this video was great to watch
Thanks for making this video. I put the plastic tray on my wood floor, aligned the ruler and tapped each side with a rubber mallet. I don’t plan on taking it off! 😂
It's a nice device for bobble color work, smaller balls of yarns, scrap yarns. Granny squares as an example. Thank you for your review. It's nice to see inventors trying to make our lives easier.🤗
I like the interesting items you find and test for us to see. I haven't seen this item before. Interesting!
It is cute and I would buy it. I was giving it a 4.5 because the issue of it breaking due to “soccer feet” is not a factor for me. 😉
Thank you for sharing this detailed review and identifying that snapping the gauge ruler into the tray is a “no”. ♥️
nifty little gadget. I would love something like this (with all the bells and whistles) but a more sustainable material. It would be gorgeous made of wood or bamboo
I think this would be very helpful. Especially not having yarn 🧶 rolling around on the floor. That would be awesome!
Omg 😱 this is Great yea a need to have togo
You are so cute! Thank you for your wonderful review.
Just got mine at my LYS. I love knitting socks 2 at a time on one long cabled needle. Keeping them from twisting and tangling is no joke. I think this will make this easier. It will also keep my mischievous dog from coming over and stealing my ball.
This was a very thorough review. I like that you demonstrated every feature.
I think it should get 4 balls. I agree with you about the gauge ruler. I love the fact that my project is not tied to the bowl. I would also have to remember that the bowl was by by feet in case I got up. 😊 I loved your thoughtful and thorough review.
Really like when you show us all the gadgets you run across. You make it so fun. Thanks.
Currently, I use a ziplock bag for this. Works well. But this would look great on my desk.
Thanks for sharing.
"What she say?" LOL 🏀⚽⚾🎾🎱🎳👦
Great review! Thanks so much for all the detail.
Oh wow, something to make spinning a ball easier for us arthritis sufferers. I need that device.
Clever gadget! But I tend to buy larger skeins of yarn and do not have a cake spinner, so for this to be useful I'd need to make 2 purchases. Lol Great review, btw. Comprehensive. 🤗
I made my gauge part a bit more friendly by using an emery board slightly on the part that holds the gauge. Now with slight pressure it sits and snaps into the slot. The emery board also made it much easier to retrieve when needed.
Thank you ❣️❣️❣️, I'm normally not interested in crochet gadgets, but this one I actually like 😁 I'm doing a buffalo stitch blanket right now , and I never rotate the yarn back ,and forth like you're supposed to lol ,cause I'm lazy ,then it gets twisted ,and I'm stuck 20 min undoing it lol .
I don't do swatches with my crochet ,that kinda goes over my head lol . But I think I might buy this ,and actually use it . I also always roll my scanns into balls ,have to see what your Lil cake gadget is 😁
I do think you gave this a fair grade. The cheap plastic and price really put me off from buying it. I love that I would be able to check both crochet hook and knitting needle sizes though and that it holds two balls of yarn for one project.
Great review, I really like the hole for the crochet hook, I'm always misplacing mine when I get up from the couch. Thanks 🙂💜
Pretty cool. I love my wooden salad bowls, but Sully might be good for travelling and keeping stuff compact.
Great review! I know I will not buy one but it's good to know how it functions.😍😍😍😍thank.s for sharing
Love your videos. Thank you so much for your enthusiasm. You make crochet even more fun than it already is.
Not sure I would use this, but it looks very useful! Thank you for sharing!❤
I love your energy and honesty in this video! You have a new subscriber.
I think I might like this for projects that are solid colors or don’t require frequent color changes. A lot of my afghan projects are graphgans and have multiple bobbins in use.
Love the editing,
I have this!! Love it! I put my notions in the bottom but now I’m going to put it under the purple silicone part! Btw my three year old loves playing with this thing! I’ve had it almost a year and it hasn’t broke yet! You can squish the skein and pull from the center I do that when I’m caking up my yarn! You can also use the center thing for cakes and pull from the outside with two cakes or scrap balls! My ruler was easy to put in and out so maybe you just got a touchy one!
I think your review is on point. I definitely like that the holes open but it seems like it 1) doesn't hold much yarn, 2) could tip over easily and 3) should be less than $20 (at least for me to buy it). Thanks so much 🥰🤗
And oops 😬 I forgot to say how cute you look with your pretty hair 😍 ☺
Great review! Thanks so much 🤗
Thank for the review 😊
Gotta have it , thanks 🎉😊
I’m glad I saw this because the sully would be very helpful for when I do multiple colors. Glad you reviewed it and that I saw this vid.
Thank you! ❤
ohhh I want. I want!! lol
Thanks for the review. I am looking for a yarn bowl & I think this will do even more than what I was looking for. Now to amazon for some shopping.
I cant tell you how long I've been wanting a yarn holder that opens so you can take it OUT OF THE HOLE while you're working! I have adhd lmao I move things around a lot😅
I notice the cheap plastic as soon as you opened the lid and the hinge squeaked. That is going to be the #1 break point. I'm going to give it a 2 for at that price.
I was typing up things I would change to make it the perfect all in one yarn tote and it hit me I was giving away a great product idea. What have I just learned. If you have an idea start putting the idea to comment and get hit by a brain storm. Oh that was fun. Thanks.
Now I'm off to do some research.
This video was just suggested for me. I didn't know this thing existed! It pretty much solves every issue I've been griping to my partner about for the past few months! Thank you for the review, I'm definitely getting myself one! You've got yourself a new sub!
Pretty cool!
Thanks
Thank You for this, and covering everything, not just the pros. And I am with you, I do not want to hold my swatch up to it, it would not be as accurate.
I found it so annoying to check the gauge that way.
@@LittlejohnsYarn I bet. I would just keep the ruler lose too
Really cool! Love your videos
This would be great for anyone trying to work around cats. However, I use the larger skeins so I would have limited use for this. And even though I could make my own balls and cakes, that is adding an extra layer of work to my crocheting which defeats the time-saving function of the carrier.
Love your videos
I always love your gadget reviews. I can't see me using this gadget but now I know it's out there if I change my mind. Thanks for your review.
I don't know how to crochet, I don't know how to knit, the only thing I have ever done close to compare is making friendship bracelets (and I was pretty bad at that). Just letting you know, YOU MAKE ME WANT TO BUY THIS!!!!! YOU MAKE ME WANT TO KNIT AND CROCHET!!!! I'm going to have to check out some of your other videos! It's been 4 days since you posted this, are you still using this little gadget? Thanks!!!
If I have a bag big enough I can use it when I'm in the queue. I'll never have to stop
I managed to run a two strand worsted weight with a K hook, sc and turn at end of each row-had two rows done. Joined line at the DMV with spouse. Crocheted my heart out on a 10” wide scarf. Made spouse quit fidgeting we had seating as they rocked the whole row with the knee bouncing-crochet is a socially acceptable form of fidgeting- shaking the row of interlocked chairs was NOT. I finished my simple panel of crochet except for the fringe scarf in an hour fifteen and was now sixth in line, almost to the clerk. All I had was a canvas tote bag… over the years scarfs, panels for mile-a-minute/hour afghan, are still socially acceptable ways to fidget!
Thanks for a thorough review. The small part of me that knits on occasion says this would be okay. The much larger part of me that crochets constantly has a pet peeve: I like using ergonomic or Clover hooks with handles and finding true crochet gauges (open on top, U shaped if that makes sense) isn’t easy. This device will let me know knitting needle size without a problem but not so much my hook sizes (admittedly most hooks with handles are labeled better than interchangeable needles are or can be but just saying this isn’t one size fits all crafts). I’ll likely just stick with my Akerworks gadget - kind of all in one notions with a gauge good for needles and hooks (plus a gift from my family) and look into a travel bag that doesn’t trap yarn because I’m definitely a project hopper.
That uncle roger bit though 😂
Hey there, thank you for the review. It was a very good demonstration of everything the container does. My only concern is the cheapness of the product, of the plastic. If one of my grandkids were drop it on the tile floor, BOOM! No more! I don’t think I would get it for that reason.
That's a good concern! It looks cool because it clear, But I rather have a more solid encasement.
My three old plays with mine all the time! In the year I’ve had it and us dropping it it hasn’t broken. I could see it breaking if there was a lot of force
I have a couple of Yarn Its and when I found out about The Big Sully, a year or so ago, I had to get one and I love it!
I would give it 4.5 out of five. Not sure if your're giving it a 3.5 out of 4, or 5. There are so many positives to this, I would definitely buy it.
I totally agree with your appraisal and score. You are spot on. I use up a lot of finer yarns doubled together to make a thicker yarn to save waste and use it up so the double tray would be perfect for me, however I live in the UK and the cheapest I can find it here is £65 ($76). That is just not worth that to me………..unless anyone wanted to buy me one???????
you are so adorable, new follower here, thank you for sharing your amazing energy with us.
Great video. I love it!
Cute patoot! What a lovely video! I agree with you, the cheaper plastic is "tears" waiting to happen for me too! Really cool gadget though, so thanks for making this review for us!
I would love to see your craft room and how you set it up. It looks very tidy with storage cubes for skeins of yarn. Please give us a tour??
I have one for about a year…I was able to watch a sale and get it for around $25 on amazon. I agree the ruler is difficult to use the quality is a bit lower then the $40 price tag….but if you can get it for just over $20 it is well worth it.
Seems like a great gift for Christmas! Thanks for sharing!
I agree with the gauge ruler.. I thought it was just me.. lol I just couldn't get it to snap in.
Thanks for the info
love it
I love it! Great for cakes or balls of yarn! I bought one and will probably buy another
The funnies are fabulous! 😂
This is a very cool product. It is definitely going on my Amazon Wish List. 😂😂 Thank you for your continued honest and unbiased review. Very entertaining, also!!
Added to my Crochet wishlist!!! I want to try this. Also recommended my daughter watch your video regarding this to get her opinion.
