@@davidderbyshire8808 fell asleep to Horace heresy story otha night.. I grew up watching my older bro painting models, the dice 🎲 looked confusing as a kid...I'm 42 this year and recently wanted to know the whole storyline
my favorites are the carcharodons and their chapter master Tyberos the red wake, the Tome Keepers for their philosophy of warfare and culture of the recruiting planet and Salamanders ....Vulkan lives!
@greg Robertson so hits pretty heavily hinted that they have “chimeric” gene seed meaning they mixed 2 or more primarchs gene seed together but your right it’s either one or the other or both of them (definitely one of my favorites tyberos is such a fuckin beast his power/chain claws supposedly belonged to corvus corax that’s how big he is he wears primarch weapons with no problem)
Salamanders are amazing, they're the ONE chapter that understands their role in the imperium, why they fight, and why they die. They fight to protect the people of the imperium, they're in my top 3 favorite chapters.
Absolutely based. "In the somber vastness of the cosmos, there lies a storm cloaked in ceramite and piety, a tempest wrought by the God-Emperor's indomitable will - they are the Black Templars. These knights of vengeance are a refraction of His celestial might. They are His sword and His shield, the physical testament to His boundless vigil, emblazoned with the sigils of eternity, bearing weapons consecrated with the essence of sanctity itself. Where their boots tread, they leave the imprint of His undying resolve, etching His decree upon the fractured face of the universe. Each Black Templar stands as an obelisk, etched with the saga of a million martyred souls, a litany of vengeance written upon their hearts. They are monuments to human might, their gene-forged forms the pinnacle of Terran artifice. With each thunderous heartbeat, they pledge relentless crusade to purge the unholy trinity of alien, heretic, and mutant from the realm of Man. Their drop pods descent heralds the onset of judgment, meteoric avatars of retribution punching through atmospheres like the fiery fists of the God-Emperor. When they unfurl their glory upon a blighted land, even the air quivers with the intensity of their zeal. The ground quakes beneath their armored tread, and from their throats, a battle-cry roils forth to challenge the very stars: a roar that sears through heresy like a blade forged in the fires of their righteous fury. They are the sentinels at the edge of night, the torchbearers in the eternal dark, pushing back against the abyss with the luminescence of their faith. As they raise their bolters, each shot is a benediction, a sacred utterance that banishes the shadows with its sanctified report. The chainswords they wield are hymnals, each tooth inscribed with oaths of eradication, singing choruses of devastation as they rend flesh and bone. To witness them in battle is to observe a symphony of carnage conducted by the maestro of holy vengeance. Their charge is a majestic tide, a relentless smiting force destined to reclaim the darkness and baptize it in fire, to cast light upon the heresy of existence without the God-Emperor’s grace. In the presence of the Black Templars, the alien's arrogance crumbles to terror, the mutant suffocates on shadows of despair and the heretic's betrayal is repaid tenfold. Their retribution is as inevitable as the decay of time and as relentless as the turning of the heavens. For they are the God-Emperor’s fury given form, His contempt for the xeno, the heretic, and the mutant made manifest. They are the edge of humanity's sword and the shield against the encroaching night. Through the Black Templars’ veins courses the ichor of vindication, their spirits alight with the fire of a thousand suns, each one a beacon of devastation to the God-Emperor's foes. The oaths that gird them bind them to a crusade without end, an odyssey of salvation across the star-strewn sea of eternity. By the light of the Astronomican, they bear witness to the God-Emperor's majesty, a testament to His undying sovereignty over the scattered realms of Man. The Black Templars, with every swing of their swords and every prayer upon their lips, do not simply fight battles; they etch the saga of humanity’s indomitable spirit into the flesh of the galaxy itself. They are the avatars of celestial retribution, the holy aegis of humanity, eternally vigilant, forever burning bright in the darkness, until the stars themselves fade to dust at time’s end."
Salamanders may be ranked 20th but they are number 1 in my heart. Bringers of blazing death but also protectors the little people. Honestly I think the other marine chapters can learn something from them.
@@MisanthropicHazesubjective vs objective that's what I was thinking of its late and I couldn't think 😂😂😂 This list is extremely subjective and very little objectivity put into it Like ultra marines should be in the middle they aren't super great at anything but they are good at everything , Blood Angels should be top 5 cause they basically ALWAYS win their missions despite the curse , Idk I'm just getting into it myself but I can tell this guy is ranking based on what his favorites are not what is actually most powerful which is silly af people should state that right away that this is a personal subjective rank and no objectivity was out into it cause newcomers will watch a video like this and take it at face value and not know fuck all about which legions are actually the strongest
Whoa whoa there buddy, you're forgetting some others that are more dangerous than some mentioned, what about the Minotaurs, the space marines who were made to kill other marines and what about the Legion of the damned cause they are definitely one of the most horrific due to the fact they they come out of nowhere.
Even though I'm new in my 40k journey, i gotta give a shout out to the Vorpal Swords. You mentioned the 100-year penitent crusade of the Executioners, well the Vorpal Swords went on an 800-YEAR crusade into the Eye of Terror! 30 chapters of marines went in, most met tragic ends, but the Swords, along with a couple of other chapters, purged over 400 worlds in the Warp and came home to tell the tale. Chapter Master Konvak Lann is basically directly responsible for Saint Basillius being executed as a traiter and having all of his work and belongings being shot into a star for obliteration!
Some points I might refine and expand upon but overall a good video for new people. However, I think the use of the term powerful might be referring to their prestige or size? A force of Astartes is generally OP in any situation but as you have pointed out correctly, not all chapters are team players. A host of factors contribute to this but I find it adds to the flavor of this universe, that humanity's greatest defenders are essentially inhuman and sometimes turn on those they're meant to protect.
Hold up how did you miss the Minotaurs??? They are literally the chapter the high lords of terra send when they need to fuck up other space marines!! They are one of the best equipped chapters still fielding contemptor dreadnoughts and other heresy era equipment. Asterion Moloch is basically immortal and can almost hang with custodes. In fact the whole chapter fought some custodes and didn’t immediately get wiped out that puts any astartes at top tier.
some minor mistakes here and there but overall very nice summary! I understand that it´s very subjective, but no Minotaurs chapter? The Minotaurs take orders only from the Highlords of Terra, not answering to anyone else, they have one if not the best and fastest influx of recruits and the best of the best gear, always supplied to max with everything new and most powerful. Also, unlike any other chapter, when they deploy, the do so en masse. They don´t split their force, entire chapter deploys at once and commits to singular goal. Also... confirmed to origin from Iron Warriors. They are definitaly one of the most brutal chapter.

I always found the 1k chapter size to be a little unbelievable, I get they're super humans but given the size of the larger battles how are there not more examples like titan fires single shot whole chapters instant toast. How am I expected to believe 1k troops is gonna make a difference when they might be facing armies of millions of zenos?
I think they have a problem in general with sizes of army’s and battles I follow the majorkill theory and add a 0 to the number of combatants especially when you go back to the 30k legion days
Yeah it makes no sense honestly. The numbers don't either. WWII numbers make Warhammer numbers child's play for one. This is why I add a few zeros to everything I read just about. Brother Hood of the Snake comes to mind. A planet is under threat from Black Eldar and they send a single new battle brother and apparently he and his speeder turned the tide of the war... Yeah okay... Or a squad of Custodes taking out a million Tyranids simply due to a Volcano behind them. Don't get me started on the IG. Like you don't train, feed, supply an army. Then use rare ships with ultra rare mutants to go and fight with a Las gun as cannon fodder. Sorry! Even if life is cheap - resources and time is not.
The Blood Angels and the successor chapters were almost wiped out during the Devastation of Baal??? The Astral Knights committed a grand sacrifice against the Necrons, stopping the world engine I believe. (tho the few remaining survivors of the Astral Knights were unable to continue their lineage) Celestial Lions were eliminated slowly by the Inquisition. 30 chapters were sent on a crusade inside the eye of Terror. Lamenters and Mantis Warrior were on the receiving end of the Bagdab war and are unfit to be combat ready with low numbers. Anyways 1k space marines aren't always alone. There's probably guardsmans, imperial navy, titans, imperial knights and other war machines and allies deployed in bigger wars. Example, Siege of Vraks and Helsreach.
Space Marines are generally not supposed to be fighting in pitched battles like that. That's what the Guard is for. Astartes are special forces. They can hold the line if need be, but that should be a last resort for how you're deploying them.
