When you have a low battery and the box is lifted, the hydraulic pump will not turn over to lower the bed, but you have enough juice to open the by-pass valve which causes hydraulic fluid to be released into the reservoir at high pressure and create a mess, making it look like you have a leak. If you make sure your batteries are fully charged, that should stop that problem, Hope that helps. Also air should not be getting into the system because that would cause a serious leak and you would be losing a lot of fluid instead. Good luck. Cheers from Canada.
Hydraulic Cylinder Pump Fluid White color is usually water in the fluid. Since it is a closed system, that is not a problem unless someone added water to the reservoir. Foamy and light white color is air in the system. That is usually from running low on hydraulic fluid in the reservoir You don't need to bleed the system. If the bed doesn't fully raise, add one quart of hydraulic oil. Then raise the bed to make sure it reaches full height When adding hydraulic fluid: Leave room for the fluid inside the hydraulic cylinder to empty and fill the hydraulic reservoir tank

Since it is a closed system, that is not a problem unless someone added water to the reservoir.
Foamy and light white color is air in the system.

You don't need to bleed the system.
If the bed doesn't fully raise, add one quart of hydraulic oil.
Then raise the bed to make sure it reaches full height
When adding hydraulic fluid:
Leave room for the fluid inside the hydraulic cylinder to empty and fill the hydraulic reservoir tank
