    I agree with Bill on this one. That’s exactly what I want to see, seeing the good in others. All people have good in them and everyone should focus on that. Not trying to own others but coexist in peace and harmony. ✌️

      @@Icureditwithmybrain You mean the impeachment of the President over a crime that he literally admitted to on national television? The impeachment of a President for trying to intimidate and tamper with a witnesses while they are literally on the stand giving testimony that he tried to intimidate her into not testifying?
      It's only a "Partisan" impeachment, because every Republican has already made up their mind about what the outcome will be before the investigation even started. They whine about investigations being conducted privately, as a "secret witch hunt" and then when the hearings become public, Republicans whine that it is just a "TV spectacle". Republicans whine that all the witnesses testimony is just hearsay, and then they block material first-hand witnesses from testifying. Republicans whine that the Democrats have already made up their mind about the outcome, while they say that no matter what evidence they see, they will never stop supporting the President.
      So, yeah, when one side engages in a deliberative, thoughtful, and Constitutional process, and the other side stonewalls and has temper tantrums, and tries every possible way they can to disrupt that process, it does become partisan. But that's not our doing, it's yours.
      The fact is, the only reason this impeachment is ABLE to go forward is because Donald Trump is so stupid that he can't stop admitting to crimes in the national media. He literally committed an impeachable offense yesterday morning, when he tweeted at Ambassador Yovanovich in an attempt to intimidate her while she was giving her testimony. Even if the Democrats had NOTHING until that moment, he just handed them an offense that they can legally impeach him for. And then there's the fact that both he, Rudy Giuliani, and Mick Mulvaney have ALL admitted publicly on TV that they did, in fact, attempt to exchange US Military Aid (aka Taxpayer Money) to the Ukraine for political favors to aid Trump's 2020 campaign.

      One can disagree without getting personal. One can think the other is an idiot, without pointing it out.
      The idear of "winning the argument" has lost its meaning (especially on the internet)... One "wins" if the other changes his or her viewpoint... Otherwise you just express your position, and the other doesn't accept it.
      And it is highly unlikely that you disagree on every level with someone else... Fundamentals like friendship, family, interests in a specific subject, it will always be there, focus on that if you want... Or risk end up hating.

    • @donrobertson4940
      @donrobertson4940 4 роки тому +9

      You can disagree, but focus on the issues not the personalities. I get why people are frustrated - a lot of the things they complain about i agree with. Rising productivity and stagnant wages, government that favours the well off more than the poorer people. Infrastructure spending Etc.
      It frustrates me, and it pisses me off when concerns just get dismissed by some hipster liberal who then says democrats and republocans are all the same. You know the type - the ones who said Hillary was as bad as trump and didn't vote.
      I spent thirty years in progressive politics and now i get told I'm not welcome because I'm just an old white guy - ok boomer - by people who divide everyone up into ever smaller groups and go on about inclusion and listening - and seem to think the opposite of talking is waiting.
      I'm disillusioned and pissed off by liberals. I feel dismissed and ignored. And am a liberal. I agree with them. Imagine how liberals make conservatves feel.
      If liberals spent as much time listening to conservatives as they do attacking each other, maybe we'd get somewhere.

      It's a bad message. Living together with people not like you isn't possible in a democracy where both sides constantly try to end each other's way of life. It works in anarchist societies, but not in systems of power. We have to move away from the idea that "uniting" people is a good thing. It isn't. It's code for centralizing power which always leads to corruption and oppression. The best model is when everyone gets to lead their life uninhibited by everyone else.

    • @espinillasypuntosnegros1715
      @espinillasypuntosnegros1715 4 роки тому

      @Carlos Rodriguez I should clarify, I meant anarchist societies in the economic sense and based on the non-aggression principle.
      So far anarchist societies have always failed and eventually turned into tyrannies due to mankind's inherent lust for power and control.
      The last semi anarchist society was the early USA (at least around the frontier regions) where people traded their work, where there were no taxes and no government intrusion.
      19th century Germany was close, it was a Minarchist society, which probably is more practicable than pure anarchy. But that didn't last long either as Bismark made more and more concessions to the socialists and eventually WW1 turned the country to hell.
      What do you mean by "heavily mixed"?
      Ethnically, religiously or politically?
      History indeed has very few examples of ethnically or religiously mixes societies surviving, but many of them eventually disintegrating in civil war or worse.

      No, it shouldn’t be. Michael Mann has said we have less time to avert climate catastrophe than the IPCC says and the U.S. still has three times as many climate deniers as the country with the second-highest number of deniers. That’s what happens when you elevate the entrepreneurial spirit as greater than all others rather than accept that it’s one among many in a crucial yin-yang, like people in Europe recognize. There was a time in American discourse for stressing that lots of Trump voters weren’t just motivated by bigotry, and that the left has to try to reach these people through discussion of policy. That’s not at all possible anymore and so the message is way too little way too late. Richard Nixon lost the support of his base over the smoking gun tape because the base was still sane. I don’t know what the problem is this time around - social media, Fox News - but the modern right is insane. By not utterly abandoning Trump after the Ukraine phone call transcript and suppression of government scientists who went against the White House narrative on climate change, they’ve made it abundantly clear that they’re in an alternate reality and that no amount of evidence can change it. There will probably be a catastrophic failure of our democracy in the next 10 to 15 years.

      Objectivity in political matters lies in the acceptance of the strengths of all personality types. Far-left thought and far-right thought empirically don’t work for whole societies, but fervent centrists are no better because the fringe is sometimes correct on specific issues. I have come across libertarians who have prescient views on subjects like factory farming and the ”educational” system, for example. The issue with the American right, however, is that they elevate the businessman as superior to all other types of person, which is erroneous. The American left (center-right, really, opposing a far-right party) simply wants a system that gives everyone a little bit of what they need, and this is why the idea that both sides in the United States are equally at fault was always annoying. It is especially inane now that the conservatives are denying climate change in a time when the leading climate scientist Michael E. Mann is pointing out that we have even less time than the IPCC said we had in the 2018 report. Sadly, I fear that because the Union was founded by the English middle class, a group with extra-individualistic entrepreneurial spirits whose idea of far-left is anything left of Ayn Rand, there may simply have to be horrendous conflicts every once in a while, when the political discourse gets to an issue which is particularly serious. Objective people saw in the Antebellum era that the South was the problem and that the North was just reining in their massive egos rather than being some enemy of liberty. Likewise, those who have done their homework see that the right is the problem for not caring about the liberty of future generations to a livable environment. This is not some tragic play or Great Russian Novel where there is pathos from all sides being equally understandable. The European systems are built on recognition of the strengths of all types, whereas the philosophy of the American right immorally has, at its basis, the elevation of entrepreneurs as superior to all other types of people, which is intolerance. The left has a number of issues but nothing on the same plane as the climate change denial of the right. In addition, the right is now complicit with someone who wants Muslims banned from entering the U.S., tweeted that congresswomen of color should go back to their own countries rather than criticize the U.S., tweeted cartoons of himself beating up personifications of the press, and joked about Mika Brzezinski bleeding badly from a face lift. I don’t _ever_ want to shoot another human being, but the chances of another civil war by 2030 look pretty damn good to me.

    This was your best rule yet, Bill. I hope it’s not too little, too late, in terms of the “hatred” on the right-which you correctly framed. As a disabled/often housebound female (staring down the barrel of age 65) I spend a lot of time on UA-cam, as I’m also unable to pay for content. Having lived through a LOT, thought I was pretty UN-shockable-especially after Trump got elected. But the Anger and Bitterness in various channel’s Comments I see-mostly from women-actually DO shock and disturb me; and EVERYONE running for office ought to be aware! Though I’ll never call myself a “liberal” (way too much “GROUP-think” for me), I AM a “lefty” Progressive, and have been since 7th grade, if not younger. (I first demonstrated against the Vietnam War while in high school and police really did act like “pigs”; but since my Uncle Bud was a State Cop, I wasn’t a Cop-hater).
    One word I see way too much of, is “libtard”. Also “demon”. Also, unbelievably, I see people like Hilary Clinton ( or Bill, the Obamas, anyone labeled liberal) being referred to, literally, as “baby EATER” or “baby SACRIFICER”! A lot of talk about how the End Times are almost here; Jesus; Scripture quotes; how ALL the wrongs of the U.S. and the World, are the fault of “evil”, “commie” liberals...And boy have I learned that these stubbornly, deeply, ideologically driven conservatives can NOT be reasoned with-at least not by moi. Even when I’m trying to be apolitical, they sniff me out and show no mercy. I don’t let it STOP me from commenting, just try to choose my battles. One more thing I’ve discovered: Commenters from “the South” really do HATE their Northern fellow citizens! In 2019! Sigh....Gonna miss your show for months now. Hope you stay involved, as there aren’t near enough influential Progressive/Common Sense voices in American Media.

    Conservatives can take a joke, Bill. We love jokes! I laughed out loud at the first 3 minutes of this video...it’s the intellectual dishonesty that we don’t appreciate. And Jeffrey Epstein didn’t kill himself.

    • @AnkurWow
      @AnkurWow 4 роки тому +1

      Intellectual dishonesty? Our views are based on science, research, and the notion of equal rights (“we’re all created equal” from the Constitution). Trump has literally fired the scientists in his administration (because their findings contradicted his agenda), the NRA got the government to stop researching gun violence in the 90s (because the studies showed guns were doing far more harm than good), the Koch brothers got Bush Sr. to withdraw his carbon tax policy to address climate change and they bought the Republican Party on this issue (before which both parties were environmentalists-Nixon created the EPA, in fact), Roe v. Wade was decided 7-2 with 5 Republican-appointed justices voting for it (pro-choice) and only 1 justice from each party voting against it (at that point it wasn’t considered murder by the Bible or Constitution or any authority till years later when segregationist Jerry Falwell and the GOP teamed up to suddenly say that it is to get the previously neutral and apolitical evangelical vote), the outline for Obamacare was created by the conservative think tank Heritage Foundation in the 1990s which Republicans strongly supported (including Romney and Gingrich) until the moment Obama was for it, Obama created more jobs in his last 2 years than Trump did in his first 2, Obama and Clinton lowered the federal deficit, whereas Trump, both Bush’s and Reagan significantly increased it, and on and on and on. Everything I said above is verifiable. I suggest you do so before reflexively disagreeing on any point you don’t believe. Conservatives seem to embody intellectual dishonesty, from where I’m standing. On climate change alone the evidence and research is so overwhelming and increasingly catastrophic. Watch the way Republican representatives either verifiably lie or attack the messenger (vs. the message) on virtually every topic.
      I’m sure you can point out some stuff, too, but they won’t be nearly on the scale that I’ve mentioned above, and we’ve counterbalanced that with policies that are universally cherished now (such as ending slavery-yes, Lincoln was a liberal, as the parties recalibrated after the Civil Rights Act passed in then 1960s and the racists who were in the Democratic Party went over and joined the racists in the Republican Party... if you don’t believe this, look up Nixon’s Southern Strategy), women’s right to vote and own property (both progressive movements), social security and Medicare, the concepts of the weekend and minimum wage (unions fought for those), ending desegregation (progressive) while many conservatives were still even against interracial marriage well into the 1980s, and have been similarly against gay marriage and immigrants in the modern era.
      I’m not sure how anyone can be a proud conservative if you look at their record historically. I don’t mean any disrespect-I would be a die-hard conservative if they followed science/evidence/data, were for equal rights for all, weren’t pre-occupied with suppressing science and research and with redistributing wealth to the top since 1980 (the historical wealth disparity data backs this up) while accusing the Democrats of doing the opposite (we’ve just been trying to correct what the Republicans have done on this), and if they weren’t hypocritical about wanting small government while wanting to dictate whom people can love/marry and wanting to intervene in fundamental medical decisions and want to privatize (make for-profit) everything like health care that shouldn’t have a profit motive (the wrong decisions are made that way), which the rest of the world gets. And, yes, again, for being for racial segregation. I still don’t get how any of you can explain that one away, when it’s not even an outlier and is so consistent with the rest of your views (as outlined above).
      ✌🏼✨

    My new Mantra is, "Don't React!". At the very least, it saves a lot of unnecessary wear, and tear, on my nerves, stomach lining, blood pressure, etc. In addition, it buys time for thought, contemplation, and an opportunity for a new angle, view, or even the truth, to arrive. Here's one for you Bible enthusiasts. In the Old Testament it says, "If you ask God to Bless your enemies, they can't harm you". So, for example, if a man in a blue pickup, sporting huge truck nuts, cuts you off on the freeway, Don't React! Instead of flipping him off, swearing at him through your windshield, and raising your blood pressure to new levels, calmly say, "God Bless the Asshole in that blue pickup, with the huge truck nuts! Give it a try! Your spouse, your passengers, and your internal organs will appreciate the change!
